In response to the prevailing security challenges across the country, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has cautioned Corps Members to avoid night travels and unauthorised journeys that may expose them to danger.

The DG gave the advice while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two Corps Members at the NYSC Orientation Camps in Okada, Edo State, and Issele-Uku, Delta State.



Brigadier General Nafiu, while expressing the Scheme’s concern over the safety of Corps Members nationwide, reiterated that no Corps Member is permitted to embark on any journey without official clearance from the NYSC management.

“In view of the current national threat on security, Corps Members are strongly advised to avoid travelling at night. Any Corps Member who wishes to travel must obtain permission, and when on transit, if it gets to 6pm, you should find a safe place — such as a Corps lodge, NYSC formation, or military barracks — to pass the night and continue the journey the following day,” he warned.



The Director General further urged the Corps Members to use only registered motor parks and avoid boarding vehicles by the roadside, stressing that safety must be their utmost priority at all times.

In his closing remarks, Brigadier General Nafiu encouraged the Corps Members to remain security conscious, watch out for one another, and act as their brother’s keeper.

“The security of every Corps Member is paramount to us at NYSC, and we expect you to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding yourselves,” he concluded.


The advice comes amid increasing reports of security breaches, kidnappings, and violent attacks in some parts of the country, prompting authorities to intensify efforts in safeguarding the lives of citizens, especially young graduates serving in remote and vulnerable communities.

It’s said she was once close to a woman named Alfathia, only to allegedly end up marrying the same man—K1—behind her back, a scandal that has not been forgotten by critics.

The final straw came ahead of the recent Ileya Festival, when Emmanuella reportedly informed K1 that she would not allow anyone else to “steal her shine” this time, referencing how Alfathia allegedly outshone her at K1’s mother’s funeral. Police in Gombe State have launched a manhunt for two NSCDC personnel involved in a conspiracy and attack on a police inspector.

Akelicious was informed from a reliable sources that on June 15, 2025, at about 2000 hours, Umar Ahmadu, Al’azeez, and Abdulrasheed all members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to Dukku Road Office in Gombe allegedly attacked Inspector Mohammed Jungudo with a jackknife, inflicting severe injuries in various parts of his body.


The injured Inspector Jungudo is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, while the suspects remain at large.


Police sources say efforts are underway to arrest the suspects.
