Nigerian singer and ‘Medicine’ hitmaker Jaywillz was allegedly mobbed in Ghana last week after an event in Weija a suburb of Accra. The singer was billed to perform at the Connect event center Saturday, October 16, which he honored as agreed. According to sources close to the singer, the owner of the event center asked that the singer had dinner with his team prior to the event, an arrangement that was not part of their original deal, but the singer reportedly obliged. Upon reaching the venue, the singer noticed there was no such dinner, so the team decided to get their own food elsewhere. An eyewitness said “we charged them for the show, which is half of our usual price and they paid. The agreement was to show up and perform. Artistes don’t go to the venue until the climax of the event but they tricked us into coming early, with the dinner.” He continued “when it was time to perform, we asked that there was no break in the performance by the MC or DJ because we wanted the showdown to flow. But midway through Jay’s performance, the organizers cut the music with the excuse that they wanted to announce the sale of their drinks. We didn’t complain, we performed and were preparing to leave.” As we were leaving the venue, the owner of the place called about twenty boys to block our vehicle, saying that we had no right to leave until he finishes selling his drinks. I tried to explain that it wasn’t part of the bargain and the mob attacked us without provocation.” He went on “they broke bottles and threatened to stab us, tore our clothes, Jaywillz’s earring and chain, and asked that we refunded the money that was paid us. In order to get home safe and avoid anyone getting seriously wounded, we paid back the money before they allowed us to leave.” https://www.akelicious.net/nigerian-singer-jaywillz-mobbed-in-ghana/

...... as he is set to deliver dividends of Democracy to the doorsteps of women and youths in Anambra State. *~ By Ada Ozubulu* A grassroot women and youths mobilizer and one of the top PDP Stakeholder in the state, Lady Juliet Anaeme (AdaOzubulu) has declared that the candidate of People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra State is the best candidate that has what it takes to deliver divided of democracy to the door steps of Ndi Anambra. He is the only Candidate that came into this race fully prepared going with the fact that he happens to be the only Candidate that first unveiled his people's manifesto of *Ka Anambra Chawapu* even before the primary election was conducted which he divinely emerged as the winner which clearly showcased his readiness to serve the good people of Ndi Anambra. The Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer has been campaigning on the promises of job for the youths and help for the downtrodden. Obviously, the state is beginning to believe his message of hope. "Go to his home town and ask questions; go to different quarters across the State. Ask questions. Ozigbo has really proved himself as a man who cares for the poor", Lady Juliet maintained. His entrepreneurial and managerial skills is demonstrated so clearly that he need not to talk much on his ability to put Anambra in a position of great wealth, where it can conveniently compete with other states like, Lagos and River States. "Here is a man who is human, who listens to the masses", Ada Ozubulu said. I therefore call on all the youths and women of Anambra State to come out in mass and vote for PDP candidate Mr. Valentine Ozigbo come November 6 Ka Anambra wee Chawapu Ozigbo maka na aka chukwu di ya.

Anambra 2021: APGA's one day, one propaganda tactics won't save it from defeat, Ogene says ..clarifies that Senator Chris Ngige remains in its fold Despite our resolve not to further dignify the tantrums emanating from the throes of the outgoing All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA administration with responses, we are constrained to, once again, call attention to the party's increasing recklessness. "Instead of squarely confronting the security challenges facing the state, social media miscreants trying to justify the N300million capital outlay for propaganda has continued to pollute the political atmosphere with incredulous tales that beggars believe," Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, director, Media and Publicity, Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organisation, SAUGCO said in a press statement on Saturday. Titled "Chris Ngige Backs Out of Andy Uba Project," and reportedly authored by a pseudo Comrade Ignatius Oramali, the APGA social media team went to the ridiculous degree of stating that the unfounded gibberish is based on an alleged recruitment of IPOB members to murder prominent Anambrarians to snatch (the) state by force. "It is laughable that in their haste to throw just about any dart in the direction of Senator Uba and the APC, they forgot that their principal, Gov. Willy Obiano had already absolved every Anambra citizen of culpability in the mayhem ravaging the state. "Those doing the killings are not from Anambra state and no Anambra person would go to this extent; these people are from outside Anambra state," Governor Obiano said two days ago. "For the APGA desperados, however, no name, no authority is sacred in the execution of the 'one day, one propaganda' strategy upon which their media campaign is hinged. "Else, they ought to have known that the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige remains the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Anambra state, and sits as chair of the party's Board of Trustees for the November 6, 2021 election. "In addition, the Minister's closest associate, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa is Head of the campaign's Finance Directorate, while his younger brother, Chief Emeka Ngige, SAN heads the legal arm. This is in addition to having his cousin, Barrister Emeka Okafor, Ide Nnobi, as the deputy governorship candidate of the APC. "We wish to advise the APGA e-rats that next time they decide to pick a target to shore up the dwindling profile of their party, they must look beyond the Hon. Minister who is renowned within Nigeria, and beyond, as one person who has enormous capacity to say his mind at any time, and on any issue. "To attempt, therefore, to drag the esteemed name of our leader into issues that do not concern him is taking politicking too far. It is a blend of slapstick and sentimental infantilism for which we feel that this level of APGA's shamelessness is extremely nauseating. Suffice to say, it is a disposition we would not take kindly next time." https://www.akelicious.net/anambra-2021-apgas-one-day-one-propaganda-tactics-wont-save-it-from-defeat-ogene/

-- We are suffering, haven't sold for two days - Traders Six months after the relocation of building materials from the capital city Abakaliki to the permanent site Nkwagu, Ebonyi State government has allegedly sealed the newly constructed building material. It was gathered that security personnel including members of Ebubeagu Security Network stormed the new building material in the early hours of Wednesday, October 6, 2021 and sealed up the site preventing traders and buyers from accessing their stores. When our correspondent visited the site, there where heavy presence of military men and members of Ebube Agu securing the site. A trader who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said they were asked to pay the sum of Five Hundred Thousand (N500,0000) Naira, which according to him the reason for the payment was not specified. “When we couldn’t pay the money, they sent Ebubeagu to come and lock up our businesses. You can see the whole place is Shutdown,” the trader explained He narrated that before their relocation to the permanent site they were told to pay 1m for each section, which when divided each shop paid 42,000 Naria which they complied. Adding that not long after their relocation in the month of August they were told to pay 500 thousand naira each for an unknown reason. Which he said was much as most of them haven't recovered from the relocation which took place in first week of March this year. " most of us our goods are at home, some borrowed money for this business, to even pay the 1 million naira which was earlier demanded. " we were still trying to negotiate and see if the government would collect 100 thousand naira before this happened. "Right now, we are suffering, there have been no sales for two days". "And we don't know what might happened tomorrow, we pray the issue is being resolved." He appealed to the government to have a human face and feel the pain of the masses, as most of them have no other means of survival. Meanwhile, when contacted on phone, the caretaker committee chairman on building material relocation who is also Commissioner for Land and Survey, Hon.Emma Uguru told our reporter that the money paid by traders is meant to be used for the payment of compensation to host villages and in support of government to provide basic amenities in the Market. According to him, "Barely one year now that I am in ministry of Land and Survey, and I wish to inform you that the people entered agreement with the host community and state government before the land was acquired. "Government had given them Izhiamgbo building material market to relocate to that place but they said,No." "Thereafter, they were asked to take some part of present day International Market but the traders pointed out that they sell rod and needed a bigger space for their business. "So, on their own, they met elders of Abakaliki local government being the traditional rulers asking them not to allow the market moved outside the council area and with that, the Amegu people generously offered them that land with reason to pay them compensation". "Thereafter, they started begging the Governor and he told them that anywhere they see land that he would help them and that was what government did by cutting the "TS" and dotting the "Is", which is doing the necessary things by acquisition of the land since on their own don't have the instrument to acquire the land". "The community had agreement with them like I said before, since there were houses and economic trees there when the land was acquired and by agreeing that once they get there will contribute to pay compensation to those villages which at the end never paid". "They kept digdaling even when they on their own build those houses and not by government, but as tenants in the former area were paying but now refuse maintaining their agreement forgetting that there are alot of work to do there as to meet suppose standard of the state Governor and government can't do everything for them". "Consequently, government sealed the building material market since the villagers have started threatening them that they refused the payment except for the few traders who are now complying but for those who refused to pay will vacate the place. "The state government can't do everything, as plan are on ground to fence the market, build internal road and provide necessary amenities in the market, as well, pay that compensation to the villagers as agreed" he concluded https://www.akelicious.net/ebonyi-state-govt-seals-new-building-material-demands-500000-per-shop/

Mr. Adeoya said since they started the work, they had not received anything from government. The Spokesperson of the Special Constables noted that they were not informed at inception that they were to offer free service. "Some of us resigned from our various places of work before we were engaged, we did not know that we are to work for free". According to him, part thirteen (13) of the Police Act makes provision for the payment of allowances, pension among others the Constabularies. Mr. Adeoya said non payment of the stipends to them had made life difficult for them as it was not easy for them to Feed themselves and their families. …says colleagues sponsoring violence in Anambra Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has opened up on the controversy trailing his absence at the recent meeting of the South East Governors Forum held in Enugu. The meeting was convened to discuss the deteriorating security situation in the South East region, particularly Anambra State. The absence of Obiano at the security meeting triggered a lot of controversy as his political traducers accused him of being insensitive to the security of lives and property of the people. However, Obiano has fired back at his detractors, explaining that he deliberately stayed away as he could not fathom sitting to discuss security with certain individuals who were behind the violence plaguing his state. Obiano who spoke through his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ifeatu Obiokoye described the controversy as “mere factory noise” from desperate politicians who are out to justify the sponsorship of their benefactors. The governor said he cannot sit in a meeting with those whom he described as sponsors of the killings in his state. “Did you really expect my Governor would be meeting, and dining with some persons ostensibly funding and sponsoring insecurity and terrorism in Anambra State? “What people are saying goes to no issue in the first instance because it is a public knowledge that those doing the killings are not from Anambra state and no Anambra person would go to this extent. “These people are from outside Anambra state and those sponsoring them are from outside Anambra state and you expect the governor to be holding meetings with them on security challenges which those people are executing? “Be it known to all and sundry that the killings are politically motivated to create voter aparthy in Anambra and then manipulate the electoral process to the advantage of these desperados. The governor has already put in place a full proof security arrangements to nip the problem on the board than going to sit in a meeting to tell the same people what he is doing to stop them killing innocent people in Anambra state,” Obiokoye said. It would be recalled that the Amb Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, had urged the governor to attend the meeting because, according to her , Anambra state is boiling and that he has to take charge and arrest incidents of killing in the state . Also the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) Sen Andy Uba had accused the governor of not rising to the challenges of insecurity in the state alleging that he has been overwhelmed by it. https://www.akelicious.net/why-i-wasnt-at-seast-govs-meeting-obiano/

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria not to toy with the idea of declaring emergency rule in Anambra State. In a press statement in Abuja today and signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, it described the threat as uncalled for since Anambra State has ranked for over 7 years now as the most peaceful state in Nigeria. It questioned the rationale behind the idea of planning to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State with less than one month to the governorship election when it was yet to do the same in worse states such as Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Niger, and Nasarawa. The party advised the Federal Government to look inwards and unmask those fermenting trouble in the state, instead of taking a decision that would cause more harm than good to our democracy. APGA called on all well-meaning people in Anambra State to rise up and condemn the plan as it would truncate all the landmarks recorded by the present APGA-led government in the state. "We reason that some persons are afraid to face the electorate in Anambra State and are devising a face-saving method to trample upon the will of the people," the party reasoned. It urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to succumb to the devious machinations of a few desperadoes, but to look more at the far-reaching benefits of sustaining the peace and progress that had existed in Anambra State before the present insecurity set in. https://www.akelicious.net/apga-calls-on-fg-not-to-declare-emergency-rule-in-anambra-state/

There seems to be a string of compounding woes for the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is currently in the custody of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) following his arrest in Kenya in June. However, his ongoing treason trial does not seem to be the end of his travails as international forces have now joined demands for the proscription of his group. The Federal Government had declared IPOB a terrorist organisation in 2017. Ivan Sheehan, an American academic who is the executive director of the school of public and international affairs at the University of Baltimore, in a piece published in The Washington Times, gave reasons why IPOB should be designated as a terrorist group by the US. Sheehan said the establishment of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) by IPOB signalled the end of the group’s “pretenses of being a peaceful movement”. He accused IPOB leader of supporting terrorism and issuing threats via Radio Biafra. “Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB’s leader, is clearly unconcerned. That he feels no need to even disguise his support of terrorism is worrisome.” “Though IPOB’s principal aim is to restore a breakaway state of Biafra in the southeastern parts of Nigeria, Mr. Kanu’s rhetoric has become increasingly strident, “I don’t want peaceful actualization (of Biafra). “Mr. Kanu has said through his Radio Biafra channel, used to project threats, instructions, and propaganda into Nigeria from the safety of London, “If they don’t (give us Biafra), they will die. “Neither does Mr. Kanu make idle threats. The December revelation of IPOB’s 50,000 strong-armed paramilitary wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), complete with a Swastika-style flag, marked the end to all pretenses of being a peaceful movement. “What had been largely unspoken was publicly declared. Since then, violent IPOB attacks on both security personnel and civilians have surged by a terrifying 59%; deaths by 344%,” he wrote. Sheeran further explained that tagging the secessionist group with a terror label would “hit IPOB’s wallet hard”, adding that if done, no organisation that uses the US currency would be able to conduct legal transactions with IPOB. “As soon as the designation is applied, no organization that utilizes U.S. currency would be able to legally conduct transactions with the organization. By cutting off IPOB’s funding, the U.S. would weaken the 50,000 strong paramilitary outfit, and provide Nigeria’s security forces room to train their sights squarely on ISIS-affiliated Boko Haram in the Northeast of the country.” “Counterterrorism operations against Boko Haram have long been assisted by U.S. agencies working in close coordination with the West African government,” he added. https://www.akelicious.net/declare-ipob-a-terrorist-organisation-american-don-tells-biden/

Leader of Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, says he does not believe in the forthcoming 2023 general elections because of the worsening security situations in the country. He stated this on Friday while featuring on PUNCH Online Interview Programme on the occasion of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary. When asked what kind of characteristics the next Nigerian President should possess, Adebanjo said, “I don’t believe in 2023, so don’t waste your time. I don’t believe under the present insecurity situation in the country, killings here, kidnappings there, raping there, we can have an election.” Scores of police stations and offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission have been burnt in the last couple of months by rampaging hoodlums who attack government structures, especially in Southern Nigeria, where the agitation for secession has been the loudest of recent. Tinubu, Osinbajo, Osoba, Akande promised restructuring in 2015 but made a U-turn’ The Afenifere leader also lamented that some All Progressives Congress leaders including Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Bola Tinubu, Bisi Akande, Olusegun Osoba, amongst others, promised restructuring during the 2015 electioneering but reneged on their promises after the election of Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) as President. He said, “Even those who came into office advocating federalism like Osinbajo, Tinubu, Osoba, Akande. You remember how they came into office under restructuring, they now say restructuring is not their priority. “Osinbajo is now telling us that there are many things to restructuring, which one are they talking of. The restructuring they put in the manifesto of APC, which one is that? The restructuring el-Rufai recommended in 2018, which one is that? The restructuring Buhari agreed with (Tunde) Bakare and he contested election with him in 2011, which one is that? Bakare still says it loud and clear that it is restructuring I agreed with you before I contested election with you.” Nigeria’s unity negotiable, Afenifere leader slams Buhari Adebanjo said at 93, he is a very unhappy man because Nigeria’s original Independence constitution, which outlined true federalism and agreed upon by the founding fathers of the country was suspended by the military after the 1966 coup. The Afenifere leader said that the 1960 Constitution embrace fiscal federalism and encouraged regional autonomy, noting that restructuring is the way forward. He insisted that the 1999 Constitution foisted on the country by the military is a fraud and there is the need to revisit the law guiding how Nigerians agree to live together. The nonagenarian said, “How can you say a product of the fraud would amend the fraud? “They cannot rule us under the rule of the thumb and those of us who fought for democracy will keep quiet? No, it can’t work. “In 2021, Buhari telling me Nigeria’s constitution is not negotiable? What a balderdash! What an insult! That is not the agreement we made with the founding fathers. https://www.akelicious.net/i-dont-believe-in-2023-elections-afenifere-leader-adebanjo/

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming November 6, 2021, Anambra gubernatorial elections, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo has called on the people spilling blood in the state to have a re-think as that is not ‘who we are’. Nigeria @ 61: Sen. Uba calls for collective resolve against forces of destruction ...salutes Anambra's founding leaders Senator Andy Uba, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the coming Anambra State governorship election, has called for peace, unity and a "collective fight against forces of destruction and bloodletting, previously unknown to our society, but shockingly taking over our dear state, Anambra." According to a statement issued by Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, director, Media and Publicity of his campaign, Senator made the call in his Independence Day message to the people of Anambra State, on October 1, 2021, as Nigeria marks its 61st Independence anniversary. According to Uba, "What we are witnessing in our state in recent times is strange, an aberration, which is unacceptable. Violence and destruction is not who we are as a people. Killing a fellow human being is a taboo in our culture. Anambra is a peaceful, convivial state. This justifies its nickname 'The Light of the Nation'. We should not allow our light to lose its rich illuminating presence on account of politics or any other interest. "We should stand together to denounce, resist and chase this ugly monster away from Anambra. This independence celebration presents us with a unique opportunity to pursue our own independence in Anambra. Independence from violent crimes. Independence from stagnated progress and hopelessness. Independence from poor governance culture and political timidity. And most importantly, independence from leadership failure that has sadly made Anambra a bad example in different fronts. "I wish to state with pride that Anambra has overtime, made Igboland and Nigeria proud by the uncommon exhibition of excellence in leadership by our forebears. And It is my desire that we do not regress further, but rather retrace our steps to the path of greatness to ensure that Anambra excels and make its hardworking people proud again - just like our great visionary forebears did in the past. "May I remind you that our dear state, Anambra, 'The Light of the Nation', is truly blessed in every sense of the word. Rich in culture, fertile for agriculture and populated with people of great ingenuity in commerce, literature, science, sports, leadership and entrepreneurship. The tonic we need to soar is responsible leadership. And if our forebears lifted this flag of leadership excellence at the national level in the past - even before Nigeria's independence - we can do the same, with a collective resolve to say no to mediocrity. "We won't forget in a hurry the contributions of our great leaders from Anambra in securing Nigeria’s flag independence in 1960. For instance, the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr. Akwaeke Nwafor-Orizu, both at different times President of the country and Senate President, respectively. I salute also the late M.C.K Ajuluchukwu, Mbazulike Amaechi, Igwe Osita Agwuna and Dr. Okechukwu Ikejiani, among others, who at the time sustained the fire for Nigeria’s nationalism. "I also salute the people's General, Ikemba Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, for his leadership and sacrifices for our people. My respect also for the then administrator for the East Central State, late Ukpabi Asika, from Onitsha. "Also, in the Second Republic, we remember and salute the candour of Vice President Dr. Alex Ekwueme, from our dear state and Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, erstwhile Speaker of the House of Representatives. We will always remember with fondness our own charismatic Oyi, late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, from Ogbunike, who was also a former Senate President. "Anambra has always been a state of people of character, ideas and front-row leadership. We are not known for irresponsibility, violence, leadership failure or negative examples. Let us, therefore, extricate our state from these negative tendencies, by declaring our independence from them. Happy Independence and may Anambra progress. Signed: Hon. Zamfara State Commissioner of Information, Honourable Ibrahim Dosara disclosed this, while interacting with newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday September 30, 2021. "Over 2,000 informants arrested and are now providing vital information on how they relate with the bandits and who supports them, including highly placed individuals," he said. The Commissioner explained that the Government set up a situation room where complaints are being recieved to ensure prompt action. "We were also succesful in the operation in the sense that many Bandits have been neutralized by the army. "Most of them are forced to eat raw food like millet, because they have been cut off from their collaborators in town. "They have settled to using camels to perpetrate violence," he informed. Dosara recalled that the measures put in place, including shutting down telecom services began a month ago, in its quest to ensure success of military operations. " I am happy to announce that after a month, we have greatly succeeded in many areas. "One of the success is making the bandits flee Zamfara State for fear of being killed. "Just yesterday, the Sokoto Commissioner of Security on interview,, said 80 per cent have fled to Sokoto, with only 20 per cent in Zamfara and Katsina," he said. https://www.akelicious.net/over-2000-bandits-informers-arrested-in-zamfara/

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho was left stranded at Warsaw airport on Wednesday after a documentation issue saw him blocked from entering Poland with Leicester. The Nigerian was expected to return to the United Kingdom as soon as transport could be arranged, reports Mail Online. The squad had arrived at about 3.30pm local time at Chopin Airport for Thursday’s Europa League meeting with Legia Warsaw. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed Iheanacho, 24, would have started the game, meaning he will have to revise his plans for the Group C encounter. A club official is likely to accompany Iheanacho back to Leicester. ‘We’ve had an issue with Kelechi – his documentation coming into the country wouldn’t suffice,’ said Rodgers. ‘Unfortunately he’s not available to play which is a shame because he would have played. The paperwork didn’t allow him to enter the country, which is unfortunate. We’ll have to look at that when we get back.’ Having never experienced a problem of this nature before, Leicester are expected to review their processes to ensure it does not occur again. They face Spartak Moscow in Russia later this month before travelling to Italy in December to take on Napoli. His absence means either summer signing Patson Daka or Jamie Vardy will start in attack, with Daka more likely as Rodgers is keen to keep Vardy fresh where he can. https://www.akelicious.net/kelechi-iheanacho-barred-from-entering-poland/

A packed audience of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Inspector General of Police, ministers, National Assembly members, the Interim Administrator of NDDC and directors, senior police and government officials, as well as religious and traditional leaders cracked up in laughter yesterday as Gov. Nyesom Wike and Senator Godswill Akpabio exchanged banters publicly at the commissioning of a police barracks in Omagwa, Port Harcourt. The complex was built and donated by the Niger Delta Development Commission to the Special Protection Unit of the Nigeria Police Force. Ordinary folks and community members, not used to such high-profile hilarity, could not contain their excitement. Even before the two men went up the podium to make their speeches, I could tell from my vantage position that their conversations were largely filled with some repartees, and Prof Osinbajo, seated between them, was enjoying their jokes. Senator Akapbio started it all in his speech, saying that although Gov Wike were doing well as a governor; he would not acknowledge it publicly, "because he is not a member of APC." (Laughs.) Then he added, ‘’I will not even join the bandwagon of those calling for the governor to join APC. We have enough troubles in our party already’." (More laughter.) Soon after, the governor had his turn. ‘’I thought we came here to commission this beautiful complex. I did not know that the minister was planning to turn the event into a political arena." (More laughter. Applause.) The governor was not done. ‘’I cannot leave a place where I am having malaria to where I will get cancer," he continued, in an apparent reference to calls for him to join APC. The audience, led by Vice President Osinbajo, doubled up in more laughter. Gov. Wike commended NDDC for completing the barracks and handing over to the police. ‘’I don’t know who leaked my secret plans to NDDC. Just seven months ago, I was planning to take over this place and complete it. But apparently the Commission got a hint of my plan and quickly mobilized contractors to site’," he joked. The governor commended the Commission for a good job done, essentially returning the compliments which its chief executive, Mr Efiong Akwa, had paid him in his welcome remarks. We had thought that the banters were all over until Prof Osinbanjo got on to the podium to read President Buhari’s speech. ‘’Well’’, the Vice President started with a smile, ‘’I will eventually settle the controversy between the governor and the minister at a later date…’’. The crowd roared. The executive conviviality beamed live on national television was a clear indication that despite political differences, our leaders do share a good dose of friendliness. ‘’But we ordinary folks take our differences to the extreme. It should not be’’, a middle-aged man who sat by me said just before the police band struck the first note of the National Anthem to close the day's events. https://www.akelicious.net/wisecracks-banters-laughter-as-buhari-commissions-police-barracks-2/

The lingering crisis rocking the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continued yesterday as the former lawmaker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Magnus Abe, said the party cannot function in Rivers State without people like him and his supporters. Abe, who addressed the APC stakeholders at his country home in Bera community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, boasted that nobody can wish him away in the party. “What I came here to do today is to say thank you to my people. When they said they wanted to see me, I must come home. I immediately fixed today to come so that they will see me and I talk to them. There is nobody in Nigeria; there is nobody in Rivers State who will say there is no APC in Gokana. “You can also see that because of the love my people have shown; because of the respect you people have given to me, because of the affection that you have for me, it is now clear to the whole of Nigeria, to the whole of Rivers State, that it will be impossible, I repeat the word, impossible to the politics of APC in Rivers State without you and I. https://www.akelicious.net/you-cant-run-rivers-apc-without-me-my-supporters-abe-dares-amaechi/

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the provision of modern accommodation to the police is an important feature of the comprehensive reform of the service which his administration is embarking on. President Buhari stated this at the commissioning ceremony of the ultra modern Nigeria Police (Special Protection Unit Base 6) barracks of the Nigeria Police, built and donated by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in Omagwa, Rivers State. President Buhari, who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, noted that the barracks from the NDDC will not only improve the welfare of the SPU, but enhance the peace and prosperity of the Niger Delta region. The President also praised the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the NDDC management for giving adequate priority to key projects. The facility comprises a commander’s quarters, 68 residential flats, offices and other facilities. It is named after the President himself. Other persons who spoke at the event were Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Senator Akpabio; the Inspector General of Police, Mr Alkali Baba Usman; the chairman of Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi and his House of Representatives counterpart, Hon Tunji Olubunmi-Ojo. Gov Wike said previous NDDC management failed, not just because of corruption and mismanagement, but also because "they did not create synergy between the Commission and the state governments." In his own remarks, Senator Akpabio said the new drive by the management of the Commission is ‘’derived from the marching order the President gave us to complete all key developmental projects abandoned by the NDDC." He noted that in the next few weeks, the President would be invited again to commission a 132-KVA electricity substation in Ondo State, which will enhance the electrification of the southern parts of Ondo State and provide electricityto about five local government areas. He commended the Interim Administrator of NDDC, stating: "To Efiong Akwa, Interim Administrator of the NDDC, thank you for doing a difficult job well." The Inspector General of Police was visibly excited as he formally took possession of the barracks. He described the commissioning ceremony as ‘’a landmark event’’ and noted that "this was the first ever mega residential facility for the SPU since it was created in 2009", as a strategic unit dedicated to providing security to high-risk personalities and politicians. The Interim Administrator of the Commission, Efiong Akwa, had earlier in his welcome address traced the history of the project, saying that construction started in 2012 but was delayed due to nonpayment of contractors. He added: ‘’But because the President had ordered us to complete important projects that have relevance to the lives of the people, we had to do all we could to finance the completion of this barracks." https://www.akelicious.net/buhari-commends-nddc-for-donating-barracks-to-nigeria-police/
