Gowon removed the church from mainstream Eastern Nigerian lives after the war. That proved too devastating. The schools managed by the missionaries before the war, were hijacked by a Gowons government that was clueless. That was how most former missionary schools became hideouts for criminals.

The east needs to quickly integrate the church back into daily life. Most of the Catholic priests you see ,were the best students in their classes at secondary school or primary school. Most are well educated and have time enough to do many things . Moreover, the priests seem to be less corrupt and more straightforward in their dealings.

For any protest to be a real protest, Sawore must be out of it. By the time I saw protest flyers, banners, even T shirts by Sawore, I knew this was just a publicity stunt for public attention. That's why I still consider the end Sars as the only genuine mass action protest in Nigeria.
