Nigeria has a significant amount of manpower What is stopping the contractors from assigning 1 kilometer each to 700 different teams This is how China builds at an incredibly fast rate |
The government should eradicate joblessness and street begging of capable able-bodied men and women Nigeria's biggest underutilised asset is the youth The big population of idle youth has been going to waste and encouraging all kinds of nefarious activities The government should start a job center that will assign jobless people to various businesses like farms and production factories, road and railway construction, infrastructure laborers, and so on This will create a better society |
Just draw lines on the roads and give us this driverless trains https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCl12X7nqrk

gare:Actually you can.. on a dedicated protected lane with barriers

Railless Train It is as cheap as drawing lines on a road and buying driverless trains on wheels that can follow the line This new technology is a no-brainer. It eliminates the need for building rail tracks on a smooth surface. Essentially, it utilizes drawn lines that trains can travel on. Trains can be easily rerouted by manually driving on wheels to a new line, eliminating the need for a permanent structure. It will eliminate the need for constructing a separate rail track on the Coastal Highway. The Nigerian minister of work should reach out to the Chinese companies implementing this technology. Governors of States in Nigeria can easily adopt this as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCl12X7nqrk

Oyo state should bring back the Intercity Light Railway Awarded To China CCECC https://www.nairaland.com/7885209/what-happened-oyo-intercity-light |
How on earth is the speed limit on that bridge 80 km/h It should be 50 km/h with camera to catch overspeeding vehicles |
The one that escaped has no honor Escaped like Binance is escaping with Naira |
Lack of Unity and selfish interest is why the Igbo's are treated like that. But they will blame the Yorubas for their shortcomings even though Yoruba is the tribe helping them the most. |
Nnamdi Kanu, Omoyele Sowore, Sunday Igboho, and Adeyinka Grandson were all in Prison around the same time All are now Free at this time except Nnamdi Kanu |
Obidients will not be happy. Any progress Nigeria makes under Tinubu is bad news to them |

Felabrity:It has to be unstable until it reaches where it should be. |
Validated:Perhaps you should check my previous post - Nigeria Should Introduce Per Hour Minimum Wage https://www.nairaland.com/8005500/nigeria-should-introduce-per-hour |
Stephench:If you are earning 100 thousand in Nigeria you are better off than someone earing 1000 in Europe... Because you can rent a house, eat comfortably and transport comfortably especially outside of Lagos |
Stephench:Earning 1000 in Europe a month is not enough to rent a room and pay the bills in most European cities. It's like earning 100,000 in Nigeria. |
Macdeey:Provide argument instead of blind lamentation. |
Nigeria is incredibly cheap and unprofitable for multinationals. Why should Coke sell for 200 Naira in Nigeria and the same Coke manufactured the same way sell for 2000 Naira equivalent in UK If you are a company where would you invest your money UK or Nigeria A plate of Jollof rice in UK from a typical Nigerian restaurant is 20000 Naira... and that is the very cheap one |
Things are cheapest in Nigeria compared to other countries Food in Nigeria is 20 times cheaper than many other countries Accommodation is 20 times cheaper compared to other countries It's just the Salaries that should be increased and Nigerians should work harder like other countries. |
It is basically common sense. Ok, using a private school as a scenario. If a teacher must earn minimum wage of #5000 per hour, and parents are paying #200,000 per child. If an employer decides minimum wage is too much and relieves people of their jobs. Parents will remove their children and find a better quality school and the school owner loose #200,000 per child, so it will make sense for the school to pay the minimum wage or loose everything. In a scenario where a banker has a child minder/house help and a driver. Having to pay the minimum wage with not enough for both will force the banker to choose the child minder otherwise no going to work. The driver can then find an executive driver position or go to start a business. Farmers will have confidence farming and traders trading because the purchasing power comes from everyone including the child minder, driver, banker etc This is the kind of economic revolution needed. |
Imagine the productivity of teachers, doctors, nurses etc... That is the trick these western countries are using to brain drain Nigerian trained workers who are working 7 to 7 almost half a day. That is a typical shift for doctors and nurses in UK. A criminal penalty should attached to any worker not paying the rate. |
matify83:It's normal in a lot of sensible countries Your quality of work will improve and your employer will expect more from you while respecting you. |
The best time to introduce per hour minimum wage is now. By doing so a middle class will emerge and there will be dignity in labour People will start working harder and smarter. Exploitation of the likes of house help will stop instantly. Nigeria will then catch up with the rest of the world. Ask all the Japa people and they will tell you they are doing any work they see so far as it pays their bills. Someone should tell this to Tinubu and Labour A good minimum wage in line with international standards will be at least $5 per hour or 5000 Naira |
This one Betta pass Edu |
Bring it on |
The UK just literally scammed Immigrants. They are now planning to send them back home after collecting their money. |
Added pain of Living and working in freezing weather |
People are selling all their belongings to migrate to dying economies abroad with no jobs. The Nigerian government should start creating awareness campaigns to educate Nigerians that the grass is not greener abroad. If anything what is going on is like modern slavery where people are schemed into going abroad doing care jobs like cleaning bum and taking care of old and special needs people. Still, the earnings from these jobs will be taken from them through high rent, taxes, and penalties. People have died due to these harsh conditions People are living in horrible conditions with several families living in the same house and sharing everything including the toilet. The typical rent in London for one month is the rent for a nice house in Lekki for 1 year People are renting rooms in houses to live in People keep to themselves and usually, when a new Japa arrives they think their extended families are hostile not knowing that people keep to themselves due to work and living conditions. Reality sets in after a while when it has become too late to undo all that they've done and sold to make the move If people know the realities of these conditions they will not sell all their properties to travel abroad into the unknown Nigeria is a good country if we can stop complaining and focus on the job of building the nation to its full potential. The UK has made about $50 Billion from Nigeria in the past 2 years alone and taking unimaginable amount of skilled manpower away to be used in menial jobs |
Sunnymatey:Many unproductive states get an allocation of what they have not earned. It's like taking from Peter to pay Paul |
I wonder if they have this type of record-keeping in 2023 Talk about retrogression |
That is a lot of Forex remittance to Nigeria for many years to come. If you are going to build or buy land in Nigeria, this is the best time to buy as competition will rise soon. Nigeria's government needs to sit up as more Nigerians are getting exposed and they cannot continue to do nonsense like buying yachts with a more exposed population without backlash. |
