PoliticsRe: FG Unveils Digital Village In Abuja, Targets 7,000 Rural Communities by akinnaija(m): 9:39pm On May 31, 2025
Do villages really need the disruption of mobile phone and social media? exporting mental health, pornography, etc. Let the peace of the village be left alone. Now people in the village will have their small funds wiped out, cybex will get access to village... Provide people in the villages protection so they can go to farm safely.

what is the intrinsic value of the dollar. The funny thing is many of the CBN staff and the guy who wrote this gibberish have invested in bitcoin. What is as volatile as the Naira. CBN should ban the Naira it is horrible for investment. Very flawed arguement.

Hello Dear,
You can't change the past, I think you should focus on the future. If you want to report this case, quickly make a police report, Then you have to visit the clinic and make a report so that they can give you the necessary medication to help your medical situation.

Crying won't fix anything...it is OK to cry though, it has some healing effect.

Things you must worry about, did he use protection? Are you expose to stds? or pregnancy...all these could have longer effects.

Speak to someone you trust.

This is not the time to worry about abuses online...remember this profile is not the real you... so they are only abusing the new profile.

Get help and don't let this guy hurt you further...

I hope God helps you through this.

Madam Sheila sun re ooo. Thank you for everything you taught me, the values I have no, I learnt the foundation from you. I never struggled with English.
You showed me the true religion, which is love others as yourself. James 1:27 says Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

My mother just called me now to let me know that Sheila is dead, do you know why? It is simply because that was the school that built the foundation of my core.
You were too good for this world. You taught me to write and I can never forget your signature.

@Krayola, thank you for your response.

I told you that the public never had access to Fela's materials while he was alive, it was seriously monitored because of copy right issue.

But now do you the only music that our new artiste produced that is reasonable are the ones for adverts for telecom firms.

Please please this is not a generational issue, it is a case of excesses, even the black american use music to liberate themselves from oppression, let our artiste set the pace of liberation for their people. Let them no project obscenities and claim they live decently.

I have no case with Fela , he is long gone and we can choose what we want from him.

Presently our TV stations and radio stations are filled with this kind of music, it is as a result of the failure of governemnt that these genres have flourished , if there was standard things may have not gone this bad.

Even americans got content control labelled during the Rock and Roll era.

ALL WE ARE SAYING IS BALANCE should come into place.

@FBS , am glad you took time out to respond to my ignorantly typed text. I appreciate some of your point and I must say I learnt one or two things. Thank you.

Now I must tell you that, you please understand my point, I only have one single motive in putting up this write up and if I have a national or broader platform to comment I do do the same, which is our artiste have got great power to set us free from the situation we are at the moment and they should think of the greater good of all as against the personal ambition.

My point is that they should prick the hearts of the young to stand up for a better Naija not the one of frivolities.

I am in Nigeria and in my early 30s , schooled in Unilag comfortable in Abuja. I know what am talking about. I was in Unilag when this whole entertainment revolution started

when I was in Unilag, TA , Behind, Teju,IK, Eldee n co, etc were also on campus

can you imagine if DJ Azeez sings a song dat informs his fans on the importance of education, he will gain much more than money and fame that ofokasibe begets, I have been to extensive northern corners of this nations and I see boys who can't even write or spell their names singing ofokasibe(funny though) but it shows you the power music has.
Please muse the minds towards greater good, the power is in your hands now Naija artiste do what our fathers have failed to do for decades with this great instrument in your hands.

Money and fame will fade but influence on lives will remain a legacy.

Is any of you guys in Abuja, why don't we arrange an under the tree discussion where we look at issue objectively not on this forum where we try to flaunt our intellectual prowess.

Thank you , remember, I am ignorant
Music/RadioRe: Reuben Abati Vs Banky W: A Must Read! by akinnaija(m): 10:46pm On Jun 26, 2009
@ FBS thank you for the enlightenment but please let us not be simple in our reasoning.

I strongly reject the pointing of finger to a generation for the decadence we are experiencing, obviously the whole world is going gaga, all you need to see to understand that fact is just the newspaper headlines.

Now my point of contention is the fact that our artiste should educate us on the motives behind their songs.

after all people like Fela had motives, he claimed "emancipation of the common man". Even Fela's music was not available for all to hear on the airwaves because there was a restriction , something to do about royalty

check this out and draw a conclusion use you good mind please ,

Friends, it is unfortunate that most of you choose to follow the crowd. Mr Abati may have not stated clearly his points but I tell you, he sure got some valid points that in 10years some of you will confirm the reality of these points.
Music is a very powerful tool and our young people who are my colleagues are gradually destroying the moral fiber of this generation. Come to think of it. I am ignorant I agree but I like to ask some questions and I would want us to answer in 10years time.

1. What does most of these Naija hip hop titles have that can encourage youth to live right?
(when South Africa had the apartheid issue most of their musicians sang to fight the oppressors, why are not our youth focus on themes that encourage moral uprightness)
2. Why are the artistes exploiting the populace both commercially and morally? (go to the secondary schools you do be shocked at the level of immoralty, if you thought you were bad now you will see worse, it is not so easy more than ever to communicate your immoral desires, no thanks to our wonderful crop of artiste, they come out to say play safe AIDS is Real and go out to MO CAPABLE, please ) am no hater, just an ignoramo
3. What do you think will become of Nigeria in 50 years when laboratories and science courses are deserted all for the fame of Entertainment? we do be worse than Malawi by then, I pray this thread wouldn't have been deleted by then

4.Do you think it is wise for Glo to give millions to artiste while we have scientist roasting away? , do you think Intel (the processor maker) will do that?
5. Friends , honestly do you guys think if you grew up under the influence of these kind of music , think deeply please, do you think you do be anything close to who you are now? Even the worst of MJ was far better than what these guys feed the airwaves with?

6. Catastrophe do not start one day nor earth quake instantly, it starts gradually, when these money, fame crazy guys achieve all their objectives , I pray and wonder what will be left to the society? I know certainly whatever a man sows , he shall reap, whether be good or bad, time will tell?
Today we look back at Micheal Jackson and we say something? History will judge thank God they know, if MJ could go broke, hehehehehe , then I wonder what commercial success is worth destroying the moral value that a little secondary school student could keep.

See as ignorant as I am , I am very close to foreign aid Health assisted projects and the statistics are staggering, do not be deceive friends, musicians are not bringing any development compared to the irreparable damage they are doing to the moral fibre of our society , anything that destroys the future is wicked,

My point is true Nigeria may not be the best place and our leaders may have done badly but it does not justify us to become irresponsible. Hence just making anything as long as makes you rich and popular,
Look at the girls they parade on tv, how much do they pay to these unfortunate children, watch the videos, did you see what the initial ogbono feli feli video (the one that was band), what was the aim? let all these musicians educate us on the aim or the objectives of some of the things they do, I just want to know,

I appreciate their creativity but they should be mindful of the long term effect of their actions and inactions, some damage may not be proportionate with immediate gain,

as I said am ignorant, just think about what am trying to say, something is fundamentally wrong and if not check very soon we will lose the only thing we have that the whole world envy culture, morals, fear of God, etc

and by the way , why Eldee run come back Nigeria, just a joke

This is to all u ignorant jand rats, I think it is high time you come to naija and check things yourself and stop allowing media to fool you. Sometimes it hurts to feel that am from the southern part of naija.
My response is to NLF Co-ordinator, Kayode Ogundamisi, he needs to travel the vast part of Nigeria and he will know that no other president in recent time has tried to change things in Nigeria like OBJ.
What do they have to say about the incumbent , when Obj left power generation was over 4000mwt, what do we have now?
at least for about 8yrs dollars was stable, do you know how much it changes for now?
See the guys from up north will hardly criticize their own but you know too much education without enlightenment don kill us for south, sometimes I fee most of us from the south should have been almajiri , mayb we would have been more sensible.

What have you got to say of a leadership that have returned all the governors that failed under obj back to serve under him as ministers?

see you guys better keep quite and stop bringing more curse upon this land, the great book say pray for your leaders and not throw stuff at them, I can guarantee you that , let us watch in 20yrs where Mr Kayode Ogundamisi will be.

Obj tried to help this country but the ppl are not ready , until individually we shun corruption , nothing that a leader can do, by the way how did u get to the UK?

NOT WORTH THE INK IT'S WRITTEN WITH
Tattooing hurts; removing it is worse
By Wendy Ruderman
Philadelphia Daily News

rudermw@phillynews.com 215-854-2860

GOODBYE, 2007. Hello, 2008.
Now is the time to wipe the slate clean and start anew.

But what if that slate is your skin and the thing you want wiped clean is injected into your flesh with indelible ink?

The tattoo boom of the early 1990s has given rise to tattoo regret, and an increasing number of hipsters want to get rid of ink that was soooooo last year, studies show.

"It's all about growing up and time passing and your life changing," said Dr. Andrew Pollack, director of the Philadelphia Institute of Dermatology.

"Who hasn't opened their mouth and then said, 'Oh, man, I wish I could take it back.' I'm the guy who helps people take it back," said Eric Bernstein, a Bryn Mawr dermatologist who specializes in tattoo removal.

Pollack and Bernstein are in the burgeoning business of using lasers to erase people's colorful pasts. Among their patients:

_ The once rebellious teen who got a butterfly tattooed on her shoulder is now a 20-something woman who wants to wear a strapless dress at her country-club wedding.

_ The former frat boy who got Greek letters inked on his leg and is now a young lawyer who's embarrassed to wear shorts at the annual company picnic.

_ The ex-con who wants to shed the gang emblem and go straight.

_ And the reformed neo-Nazi with the swastika tattoo who just met a nice Jewish girl and is joining her folks for Passover dinner.

OK, that last example was a bit of a stretch. Actually, the guy who had a swastika tattooed on his forehead never said why he wanted it removed.

"I think the decision spoke for itself," said Pollack, who has also removed numbers from Holocaust survivors.

Bernstein said he recently removed the word "bitch," etched in black ink, from a woman's lower lip.

"She told me she thought they were writing something else on there," Bernstein said.

Like what?

"I don't know," Bernstein said. " 'I love my dentist?' I couldn't tell ya."

A 2006 study by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24 percent of Americans ages 18 to 50 are tattooed. Of those, 17 percent had considered removal.

The top reason for tattoo regret is a faded romance, according to dermatologists.

Donna Maleczkowicz's boyfriend convinced her to get his initials - "CS" - inked on her bikini line during a drunken escapade. At the time, she had been dating him for just a month. They met at Delilah's, the Center City gentlemen's club, where she still works as a hostess.

"I really, really thought that he was the one," she said last week.

They were talking marriage when he broke it off after more than three years of dating.

"I actually went to see Dr. Bernstein and I said, 'Listen, I want you to get this thing off right now. I don't care if you have to burn it off,' " said Maleczkowicz, 27, of Holland, Bucks County.

By the end of 2008, CS presumably will be history and so will another unwanted tattoo she got on a whim: A pair of flowers with vines that wrap around her navel. She's worried that if she decides to have a baby someday, the tattoo will stretch across her bulging, third-trimester stomach like a scraggly weed.

Tattoo removal is not quick, cheap, or painless.

"When I say painful, you can't believe it," Bernstein said. "I've had Marines pass out unconscious. It's a killer."

Bernstein numbs the skin and then uses special lasers that fracture tattoo pigments into tiny particles, which then get absorbed by the body.

Professional tattoos require six to 10 - sometimes more - laser treatments to remove. Each session can cost between $250 and $500. Bernstein said he performs roughly a thousand laser treatments each year, and that number is growing.

Tattoo regret was highest among inked Republicans, according to a 2003 poll by Harris Interactive, a New York-based research firm.

Kerri Valentine is a Republican.

At 18, the college freshman got a blue and purple mushroom tattooed on her lower back, just above her butt - a common tattoo location that Philly cops jokingly refer to as a "tramp stamp."

Yes, a mushroom, as in fungus. Valentine said the choice had nothing to do with so-called "Magic Mushrooms," the psychedelic drug popular on college campuses in the 1990s.

"Mushrooms are my favorite pizza topping," she said.

Valentine, now 30, of Lafayette Hill, Montgomery County, said she had four laser treatments in 2007 and will undergo another six this year before the mushroom is gone.

Kristin Sunderman, a 32-year-old paralegal from Lansdale, is in the process of zapping three tattoos she got as a teen. She's perhaps most embarrassed by the tattoo of drama masks - one smiling, one crying - on her ankle.

The tattoo has nothing to do with theater. It's supposed to be an expression of teenage angst. The whole hiding-your-pain thing.

"I was a very depressed youth," Sunderman laughed in a New Year's eve interview. "It's a whole dark pain kind of thing. At that age, you don't really know much about anything and your hormones are out of control. When I look at it now, I think, 'My goodness, what was wrong with me?' "

Of course, all tattoos seem like a good idea at the time.

A decade ago, Dave Donch got a cover album of his favorite band, "Sublime," tattooed on his leg from knee to ankle. The 1992 album included song titles like "Date Rape" and "We're Only Gonna Die for Our Own Arrogance."

Then a few years later, when he no longer liked the band enough to be a walking billboard for its music, he got a "cover-up" tattoo that he liked even less. He had a tattoo artist draw over the album cover, turning the image into an angel with a sword with a stained-glass-window-like background. The artist threw in some "tormented souls" with one soul rising above the rest.

"I was doing like a good-over-evil thing," Donch said. "At first, I kind of liked it. Then I was like, 'No, this wasn't what I was going for.' As I got older and matured, I grew out of the artwork."

Donch, 33, who lives in Collingswood, N.J., said he's been to Bernstein's office about eight times and the tattoo is significantly faded.

"I'm going through a lot to get it off," Donch said. "But, hey, if that's the biggest mistake I've made in my whole life, I'm doing good."

Some people decide to live with their mistakes.

Sean Dubowik, a 37-year-old manager at a topless bar in Phoenix, Ariz., made national headlines in late December after a surgeon got fired for snapping a photo of Dubowik's tattooed penis with his cell phone camera. The doctor admitted taking the photo while inserting a catheter into Dubowik's penis during a gallbladder operation. The tattoo on Dubowik's private part reads, "Hot Rod." In an interview with the Daily News last week, Dubowik said he got the tattoo on a dare from friends who offered to pay him $1,000 if he went through with it.

"They never paid up," Dubowik said. "It was horrible. The pain was horrible. I can't even explain it.

"That's the only reason why I couldn't have it removed. I couldn't go through the pain again." *

When Omehia was busy trying to put Rivers State back on track and the guy brought in some touts claiming he is following justice.

There are somethings in naija that requires drastic actions not proper or due process simply because things have gone out of hands. The battle of PH was almost won before our dumb Aso man upheld the judiciary's judgement.

I simply think that Rivers State still has a long way to go.

CareerRe: How Staff Friendly Is Your Bank? by akinnaija(m): 1:42am On Jan 03, 2008
UBA is the worst bank I have ever seen, just bhind the humiliation I received from GTB registrar office in Anthony(be warned there is plenty trouble behind those IPOs), spent more than 3 hours trying to get signature verification. Do these staff actually get trained to attend to people? Once they get a handfull of individuals in their office they start misbahaving and tag it pressure. What do you want the guy working on the rig do when crude is pumping out or should the crane operator do when the heavy chains are fast apprpoaching , the truth is we all have issues at our various working place. Professionalism demands that you treat people to the best of your abilities especially in cases where you had begged them to invest.

Well so far that was all about GTB Registrar.

I am bold to announce that UBA is the worst of them all!!  I was in about three branches of UBA banks around Ojuelegba area and my problem stay unresolved and right now considering going to the UBA HQ @ Marina.
Could these people just improved their services and forget about giving the people hope (as promised in RED Ovation carol). If your account has not got N1Billion you do be treated like a number. Hope is for those who have stolen enough to be their pretigious customers. For young shall grow like us, the lady at the customer desk will just treat like a tramp.
I did not mean to tell stories but I had a bad experience with UBA, am still going through the nightmare, if anyone is willing to change my ompression of the bank I wont mind any assistance.

I had given the share certificate I bought to my stockbroker for transfer to my cscs account, in that process, she was told signature irregular and that I require a banker's confirmation.
so I had to come down to Lagos to do that, thank God for the hols, I was at the first branch , the lady gave an excuse that the signatory was not around, went to the next one around ojuelegba too, he was willing to help but his printer was bad. Asked me to visit the western avenue branch just by the bridge, there I got enough harassment from this pre-teen like girl highly supported by her BOM, even as had as the BM tries to help, she is making sure that my request for Banker's confirmation will take 2weeks. I started this procedure since 31st Dec 2007 and she told me she is expecting a go ahead from Calabar where the account was opened. I have given her my utility bills of my parents house, showed her my international passport. The BM has asked her to process it but she just wants to frustrate me.
Does anybody know who can help me.
I am suppose to resume work tomorrow in PH but I need to resolve this case today.
I bank with these guys and I also bought their shares, naa my offence be that oo. , ok I think the proper offence is that I opened a current account in Calabar, operated for about 4 years and I go around naija at will.

Please can anyone help me ask the banks what is the essence of IT, when they have to give phone numbers that will not go through and send mails that will not be replied in two days, what is the essence of claiming online banking?

I need answers before  I lose my brains, am a certified IT pro.

I told my stockbroker , I want to go to UBA HQ,  and she said how much stocks do I have that I want to go and make case, that it is kobokobo stocks and that I am not important to the system.

Things are just coming to a halt and the town is not friendly but to be frank there is money in the oil city , all u need is to be properly positioned and the favour of God.
Now I had an offer to move to an airline firm in Lagos , just two months after I got to PH last year but I refused. I have come to realize that, that was a big mistake because the airline firm paid a whole lot more than I earn here.
Now the issue is this I have not learnt a great deal despite the fact I work with a lot of equipment…am exposed to lot of facilities but am not feeling fulfilled and the present working package is poor.
Now the issue is I got a job offer from a friend in lagos who has just taken over a stock broken firm as an MD and he wants me to come and do IT for him, with promise to show me stuff in stocks (mentor knd of thing) The pay difference is a lil more than what I take presently and it is in Lagos.
I just want to get you guys opinion, I am really confused…

Model dies of anorexia complications

The mother of a Brazilian fashion model who died from complications of anorexia has made an emotional appeal for parents to take better care of aspiring young models.

The death of Ana Carolina Reston, 21, follows growing criticism of the use of underweight models in the fashion world, an issue given new significance after the death in August of Uruguayan model Luisel Ramos of heart failure during a fashion show in Montevideo.

Reston died Tuesday in a Sao Paulo hospital from a generalized infection caused by anorexia, an eating disorder in which sufferers obsessively deprive themselves of food in pursuit of an ultra-slim look.

Reston weighed only 88 pounds and was about 5 feet 8 inches tall. Doctors consider this weight normal for a 12-year-old girl no more than about 5 feet tall.

"Take care of your children , no money is worth the life of your child, not even the most famous (fashion) brand is worth this," her mother, Miriam Reston, told O Globo newspaper.

She said her daughter had been trying to help her family with the money she made as a model.

Miriam spoke on national television and to local newspapers to highlight the tragedy. She said she had pleaded with her daughter to eat more and to see a doctor.

"She would reply, 'Mummy, don't mess me around,"' Miriam told O Estado de S.Paulo.

"Dictatorship of skinny look kills a model," said the front-page headline of O Dia tabloid, which carried a picture of the dark-haired, big-eyed girl in lingerie.

Many top models come from Brazil and thousands of young girls from all walks of life dream of modeling careers, inspired by the international success of Gisele Bundchen or Adriana Lima.

Reston was not famous, but she had worked abroad, including in Japan, and did some jobs for Giorgio Armani and the
Brazilian model agency L'Equipe, which declined immediate comment.

In September, Spain caused a storm in the fashion world when Madrid barred models below a certain weight from its top fashion show. Models with a body-mass-index (BMI), which takes into account height and weight, of less than 18 were banned.

Reston's BMI was just 13.5 while the World Health Organization considers anyone with a BMI below 18.5 underweight. A BMI below 17.5 being one of the criteria for the diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and a BMI nearing 15 is usually used as an indicator for starvation.

Other famous fashion venues like London were considering following suit.

Ronke Hi, I pretty understand what u guys are talking about, sincerely u have a point and u have millions of Nigerians who feel the same way, that makes ur point a matter to be discussed. I must point out quickly that for that fact that some people feel otherwise still doesn't stop your point from being a legitimate point.
The issue is we are ina society where people shy away from issues as long as they can always find another way,OBJ gets visa everyday to go wherever he wants to go, looters of our economy are never denied visa to go to some of the biggest shopping malls in the world. well if u disagree there is little I can do, but I have a point.
My challenge with these crackerheads is that if you are not good enough for them why offer you admission and collect poor naija people money.
Mr Wale why should an embassy ask ppl to apply online and you never get a response to you application.
They give you phone numbers that never goes through. , please find out before you say what you think, if it worked for you consider those the system wronged and if nothing, thank God for your situation.
Another point I have is if they are fair enough and willing to separate the goat from the sheep, they have a way they can do it. Are they not the so called developed societies. My point is they are only traeting us as they like bos they know that no one can query them, if only the govt of this country will rise up and act. I do prefer what Fidel Castro did.
Do you think the foreign embassy can survive without naija, I beg to disagree. after oil, visa application fee must be the next big thing for them.
Travellin aroad personally for me is because of my country people mentality, if I spend two years overseas, the effect on my salary is like heaven to earth.
My friends I might not be smart enough to give you the koko but I knw what these embassies are doing is not RIGHT and is NOT OK.
Mayb this is a beginning of a change, I beg you all to think about and check WHY?
For me they didn't refuse me visa, they just kept SILENT, is that fair, but u knw the point, I rather conclude on this note , ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD!!!!, hehehehehehe
