The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of seventeen internet fraudsters before Justices Bayo Taiwo, Ladoke Akintola, and Mohammed Owolabi of the State High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State and Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu of Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, on a separate one count charge each.

This is contained in a statement by the commission’s Head, Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren

The jail terms range from two to nine months community service, and one year in prison.

The convicts are Oduola Kunmi Ireola, Igbamidun Joshua Olamiposi, Ismael Fatai Olatunji, Osundele Oladapo Daniel, Olawale Isaac Adeleke, Olorunyomi Idowu Babatunde, Aneh Ojonimi, Olaide Iyanuoluwa Sadare, Akintola Babatunde Rasheed, Jamiu Babatunde Salam, Aluko Abayomi Oluwadamilare, Bello Ridwan Ayobami, Maleek Michael Ibrahim, Arasi Oluwaseun Tobi, Ganiu Fawaz Olalekan, Bello Ayoinde Olamilekan and Abiodun Taiwo Kareem.


They all pleaded ‘guilty’ to the one count charge filed against each one of them by the EFCC.

Consequently, prosecution counsel, Modupe Akinkoye, Oyelakin Oyediran, Oluwatoyin Owodunni, Musa Galadanchi, Abdulrasheed Suleiman, Mabas Mabur, and Samsudeen Bashir reviewed the facts of the cases and urged the courts to convict and sentence the defendants as charged.

Osundele was convicted and sentenced to one-year imprisonment while Arasi, Ganiu and Ibrahim bagged nine months jail term each.

Also, Akintola was convicted and sentenced to nine months community service, Oduola, Jamiu, Aluko and Bello to six months community service each while Igbamidun and Kareem bagged five months community service each.

Furthermore, Olatunji was convicted and sentenced to four months community service, Ayorinde to two months community service while Olorunyomi, Ojonimi, Sadare were convicted and fined N100, 000. 00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) each and Adeleke to N150,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) fine.

Justice Bayo Taiwo ordered that Osundele Oladapo Daniel pay the sum of $16, 671. 00USD in restitution and forfeiting one white colour Toyota Venza car worth N7million to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Other convicts were also ordered to restitute their victims and forfeit all items recovered from them to the government.

A community central Mosque in Ibadan has called on every Muslim to help in raising N4 million as a balance to secure a piece of land used by the Mosque for Juma’at, Eid prayers, Islamic activities and other enlightenment programs.

The Mosque, Olubodun Mosque And Islamic Center which is located, Opposite MRS (Texaco) filling Station, Academy Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, has 10 days as of today, 20th of November, 2022 to raise N4 million to balance 6.5 million of the land price.

The land infront the Mosque belongs to a family but has been used for Juma’at, Eid prayers, and other enlightenment programs by Olubodun Muslim Community. It was thereafter sold to an Igbo businessman.

According to the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Ustaz Isiaq Olubodun, appealed to all Muslim faithful to help in securing the land to continue using it for Islam purposes.

" We need the help of our Muslim brothers and sisters, we are about to lose a land that has been helpful for us in carrying out our religious duties as Muslims, though, the land doesn't belong to the Mosque but it has been useful because the land is directly in front of the Mosque and we have extended our religion activities to it, such as for Juma’at, Eid prayers, and other enlightenment programs.

" Our Jammah (congregations) has been running around to secure the land when we got information that the family that owns the land wanted to sell it but we couldn't meet up at the time, so an Igbo businessman bought it at N6 million.

" After months of selling the land to the businessman, we later heard that he is willing to resell the land, which we start another effort to gain possession of the land.

" We were able to beg and convinced the businessman to resell the land to the Muslim community to which he agreed but at N6.5 million with November 30th as the deadline or he sells to an available buyer at a higher price.

" We agreed to pay him but with 10 days to go, we have just raised N2.5 million, running around to raise the balance before the given deadline day.

" We are begging all our Muslim brothers and sisters who have the financial ability to help us secure the land",

" Qur'an 2 verse 245 says:

_"Who will lend to Allah a good loan, which Allah will return after multiplying it for him in manifolds", the Imam Isiaq quoted.

It was a bad day and an experience for me in Globalcom Outlet at Idi-Ape, Iwo Road Ibadan, yesterday, 5th November 2022, as a female at the customer unit failed to render services for me and later ordered for Police officer from the Testing Ground station to arrest me and lock me up all because I went there to complain about none functioning SIM card.



How It Happened...

I noticed I was unable to call out from my Glo SIM starting last Thursday evening (27th October), when the problem persist, On Monday ( 31st October ), I went to complain at the Glo outlet at Idi-Ape, and I met this lady on the desk and after a normal checkup on the SIM, she asked for my phone and dial a code , after in which I was able to make the first call successfully out with the SIM after almost 48 hours. I thought the issue has been finally resolved, so I went home but, the problem persist when I got home.


I was forced to visit the same Globalcom outlet again yesterday ( 5th November) to complain after almost 7 days of inability to make calls with my line.


I and other customers who are there to complain had to wait from 8 am to past 10 am before the lady at the customer care desk resumed office, aside from not returning our good morning and welcome to work greetings, she made it known to us through her unfriendly face.

She requested we all fill out a complaint form which we deed and my name was in No. 2, to my surprise, she deliberately omitted my name which she confirmed to one of the staff sitting next to her that she purposely want to frustrate me because I am looking at her somehow.


It got to a time I address why I have not been attended to because most customers that fill the form after me have been attended to and gone. She replied that she will not attend to me and expected me to do the worst. As I was trying to engage her on why she intentionally doesn't want to do the work she is employed to do, she called one of the outlet security and asked him to contact Testing Ground Police station for police to come and arrest me.


I Was arrested and moved to Police station, Though , not far from the Glo outlet, on getting to the police station and my statement compared what was lodged as my offense, the Police officer in charge was disappointed and told the security offer that the customer care lady was at fault. The police officer claimed that all that I have asked for from the lady was my right as a customer. He asked me to go back to the Glo office and meet the lady and she must attend to me as a complaining customer.

As if I have a personal issue with the said lady, she refuses to attend to me, she told me point blank that, she will not attend to me and she is waiting for me to do the worst.



According to her, she said Globalcom has told them to always roughly handle any customer who is so irate and she is on that protocol to do anything bad to me because nobody will query her.


She did not only brag about her rude behavior, she told me, but I should also report her to anybody I like, all she knows is that the company will back her up, added that she had dealt with many people in such a manner and heaven did not fall on her , even it was confirmed that my own arrest is not the first time she would ordered for .


I spent many hours in that office, but, went home disappointed because the lady insisted not to attend to me or I should go to challenge branch.



Dear Nairalanders, please, I want anyone who has a link to the head office of globalcom company or anyone at the top management assists me on this, I want to know if I am at fault for using, the glo network and going to one of their offices for complaints or the company ordered their staff to maltreat customers.
