Thinking critically and looking for solutions is not weakness. I have never been accused of weakness in my life. i have actually met e-warriors (mainly Trump voters, anti- BLM trolls etc.) in person and to a person when the see me they become little kitty cats ( 6' 4'' 220 pounds of military muscle no be beans). In addition, very few people on this site are more pro-Yoruba than I (You can check my posts - I can be as anti-Igbo (in a joking manner) as they come). However, there is time for joking and playing; and there is time for seriousness. Our polity is heating up. Go and read Oyedepo recent utterance on front page. It seems Nigeria is seething and all that is needed is a spark to ignite it. I could be wrong. I have not been home for over 10 years but I am a good student of history. If Modakeke and Ife can slaughter each other what will stop an Igbo Christian to slaughter an Igbo Muslim?

I completely understand your frustration. And you have raised some very valid points that I agree with. However, when I see all these Ipob yoots on Nairaland clamoring for war I just shake my head. I doubt how many of them have ever even touched a gun before let alone shoot one. I joined the US military at the age of 22. I don't even tell people what these eyes have seen anymore because remembering it alone is beyond depressing. If you have never seen a human being beg for death - then you have not seen war. War is final people forget that. Its very easy to start but to stop usually requires a lot of blood, tears and wasted lives. The prelude to war is always bombastic (Bush claimed Iraq war will only last a few weeks; Ojukwu claimed he had the best trained military in black Africa; and Hitler believed he could fight the rest of Europe, Russian and America all at the same time) but the aftermath is almost always pathetic.

my brother peace is better than war o! I am not worried for our people - we Yorubas understand war better than almost any tribe in Africa. But I worry for the average Nigerian. I would rather see people live than die. I just see history repeating itself here. An overly heated polity leading to sporadic massacres and eventually a civil war. We should have learnt this lesson of history by now. Many innocent people died during Biafra. I am talking about hundreds of thousands who did not even support Biafra but were forced into it.

It seems to me the Biafra issue is not even top of the list for most of the Igbos in Nigeria. I say this because I don't see Igbos on the streets of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Abuja, Kano, Warri etc. publicly clamoring for Biafra. Even Igbo elders (Ohaneze) are completely silent about Biafra. Bianca Ojukwu silent. Peter Obi silent. Orji Uzor Kalu silent. Ifeanyi Ubah silent. I can go on and on. Not a single Igbo musician today has deemed it fit to put Biafra into their songs. Psquare silent. Phyno silent. Illbliss silent. Flavor silent. Kcee silent. Tekno silent. Not a single mention of Kanu, Biafra and Ipob. All these people are just enjoying their lives (mostly in Lagos) as if Kanu does not exist. So I ask this question:
If Kanu can not convince Igbos across Nigeria to subject themselves to a referendum then how can he convince the federal government to grant a referendum?

I don't support it or oppose it - it makes zero difference in my life. However, if you want referendum why don't you contact your senators and reps in Abuja? Talk to your state governors and reps. That would be the starting point. Threatening war online is not the way to go about it. I hope you understand this.

Lets not forget what happened in Rwanda - it all started on the radio with talks like this. Before you realized it, radio talk turned to reality with people getting attacked with cutlass all over Rwanda. When the tally was taken millions of people had lost their lives. We have no choice but to learn from history. Even our own history the first coup and civil war all started with heated talks like these. And then we got the civil war with millions dead. Yoruba and Igbos ro nu o! If we make the mistakes of the past then we are inferior to those who came before us. shocked
