Kano State Commissioner of Police, Rabi’u Yusuf, has assured Igbo residents in the state of maximum protection in the face of the ongoing agitations by some northern youth groups to evict them from the north.

He made the promise in a statement issued on Tuesday through the command's spokesperson DSP Magaji Majiya.

In a meeting with the leadership of Igbo community on Monday the CP vowed to protect Igbo like every other Nigerian living in the state.

“The meeting is to assure you of the commitment of the command toward ensuring safety of your lives and properties as every other Nigerian living in the State,’’ Yusuf said.

He urged them to remain calm, and continue to go about their businesses lawfully and live peacefully with other ethnic groups.

Responding to the gesture, the Eze Igbo Kano, Dr Boniface Ibekwe expressed gratitude to the commissioner for summoning the meeting.

Ibekwe also extolled the virtues of the people of Kano State, saying they are tolerant and well-mannered toward other ethnic groups living in their midst.

He called on all Igbos and other ethnic groups in the state to remain calm “as Kano remains our state of origin where most of our children were born and brought up’’.

He also urged them to continue to pursue their legitimate businesses without fear of harassment.

Hence they are asking why are there no refineries in the East?why are there no international Airports in the East or at best not allowed to function fully through govt unfavourable policies?why is calabar port never allowed to function fully?why quota system the favours certain zones and not merit and more recently why are some refered to as unfortunate 5% by no other person but Mr president?why a federal rail line which funding will be borrowed on behalf of Nigeria,systematically made not to include south East?why are fulani men allowed to move around with heavy arms in there quest for space and taste for ethnic cleansing!etc
These questions are begging for answers and then the govt must be willing to restructure,if at all they ever believed in one and progressive Nigeria!

Anybody condemning the distribution of Wheelbarrows in Benue is either ignorant or just mischievous and wicked. I was born in Benue and I grew up in Benue. From markurdi the state capital to any other corner of Benue state the usefulness of wheelbarrows cannot be over emphasised. In the 80s and even up till the millennium, wheelbarrows are seen in motor parks in Markurdi ready to convey peoples loads as the they come of the Taxis in which they travelled in the whole of Benue. Wheelbarrows are a classic part of the Benue story and history and for no amount of mockery should any Benue indegien or one who was born and grew up in Benue be ashamed of wheelbarrows. I expected the BNSG to beat it's chest in pride and buy more to help the Benue people. I am not from Benue but Benue gave me the honour and privilege to be born in Makurdi as approved by God and I had a great childhood. Once a wheelbarrow with load takes a turn around the corner and into any street, kids begin to look out for their mothers returning from a trip or the market in excitement. Shame on people from Benue pretending not to know the history of Benue and wheelbarrows. Country of fake life and pretence. Has any one of you gone out to get the market price for a single wheelbarrow lately? Talk is cheap.
