50calibre: Nice one! This is designed to send a message to the US, that Nigeria is willing to forge new relationships with other world powers should its position and influence in Africa be undermined.

Please GEJ, add russia to your diary, after visiting china, schedule a trip to russia.
That is the plan... Read this tread https://www.nairaland.com/1337753/nigeria-snubs-us-looks-build

Wallie: You seem to forget that the US is one of the most entrepreneurial countries on earth! You have no idea what you're talking about in terms of manufacturing. The ONLY reason China is used to source products is because they're cheap. Why are they cheap? Because their workers are paid a fraction of what American workers are paid.

Let me flip that same question around for you. Why are some manufacturers currently leaving China for Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and the Philippines? Wages in China have quadrupled over the last decade. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/09/business/global/wary-of-events-in-china-foreign-investors-head-to-cambodia.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Bottom line is that we buy from China because it is cheap and if we were to close the boarders, products will still be manufactured but they will just cost more!
America consumes mostly Chinese products ... This guys are coming into Naija with a bank, modular refineries, fast train lines. Who cares who benefit, as long as their is basic amenities for everyday NIgerian.

Olaolufred: I ACTUALLY WANT US TO REASON TOGETHER IN A LOGICAL WAY.
IT HELPS BETTER THAN THROWING TANTRUMS.
ALL THE "I AGREE" YOU MADE IN OUR CONVERSATION IS TO HELP YOUR LOGIC.
SAYING IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE IS WHAT DEBASES ONE TO THE ILLOGIC ZONE.
I HAVE ACHIEVED HELPING YOUR LOGIC ON THIS MATTER.
HOWEVER, I CAN NOT FORCE YOU TO KEEP REASONING LOGICALLY.

"CAN TWO WALK TOGETHER EXCEPT THEY AGREE"?
Why do you type in bold though? Is it WALK abi WORK together? undecided People agree to disagree and that is what we have today as PDP and APC. However, what your logical mind has failed to do is to understand my point; both are bad for Nigeria. undecided How simple can it get angry What is the essense of writing big big gramma used in the wrong context and written in bold if you can't communicate. huh

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Snubs US, Looks On To Build Economic Relations With China And Russia by akpomeme(op): 3:03pm On Jun 26, 2013
solomon111: what it means is that Nigeria will become indifferent to america.
We will just restrict our relationship with america to essential trade.
They will probably have to search for another ally to help them in their unnecessary and paranoid "war against terrorism in the african continent", which will be very hard as southafrica the only viable subsaharan nation already belongs to the BRICS.
America always acting like they have it all figured out..
PoliticsRe: PDP Rejects Set To Lead APC - Tom Ikimi, El'rufia Etc by akpomeme(op): 2:23pm On Jun 26, 2013
Olaolufred: THEN THERE IS NO GROUND TO PROVE THAT THEY WILL BE SAME AS PDP.

LOGICALLY, THEY WILL EITHER BE BETTER OR WORSE.

ISN'T IT?
You are being long sha... You need to have an opinion and we will delibrate on it.. all this isn't it, I agree and don't agree matter no make sense. Everything is possible but everyone needs to know that either party is not good enough for Nigerians!

He's just busy ruining the foreign policy achievements of past american presidents.
How can you come to africa and refuse to visit your most trusted and pivotal ally and you expect them to remain in good terms with you.?

PoliticsRe: PDP Rejects Set To Lead APC - Tom Ikimi, El'rufia Etc by akpomeme(op): 2:07pm On Jun 26, 2013
I agree
Olaolufred: ALSO THE OTHER WAY, THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME ANY WORSE, ISN'T IT?
PoliticsRe: PDP Rejects Set To Lead APC - Tom Ikimi, El'rufia Etc by akpomeme(op): 1:50pm On Jun 26, 2013
absolutely correct. Both ways, but that does not make you any better. When you make new friends, the same issues will come up because the fabric upon which it was built is on your resentment for my opinion, so your new friends will watch you and be edgy with you when you seek to put an opinion forward.

Olaolufred: IT DOES ALSO MEAN THERE ARE THINGS YOU ARE DOING THAT I DO NOT LIKE OR THINGS I DO THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE.
ISN'T IT?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Snubs US, Looks On To Build Economic Relations With China And Russia by akpomeme(op): 1:47pm On Jun 26, 2013
ba7man: Regardless of who we align with, we will always be treated the way we treat ourselves. You need to see the way the Chinese treat our local workers and how much they're paid to understand that they're not really as nice as you think.
We need to unbundle capitalism and the capitalist man. We all make investment with the hope to make xyz from it. Now, as a business person, once you have defined what you are putting in or getting out, you will search for resources that fit within your budget. Thus, when you talk about the way Chinese companies treat Nigerians in Nigeria, you fail to realize that the staff those companies seek are staff who can earn the lowest salaries under harsh conditions in order to maximize profit. Now you are not going to blame the Chinese for Labor Unions not doing their job. What we as a people must do, is to put laws in place that limits exploitation of fellow humans, that is the only reason why working conditions in the western world appears different; Laws.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Snubs US, Looks On To Build Economic Relations With China And Russia by akpomeme(op): 1:40pm On Jun 26, 2013
ba7man: They were able to exploit us with our permission. Our leaders gave them the right to. For every foreign Company that exploits this Country, someone is getting paid and others are paid to look the other way. Until we sort this out within ourselves, the same thing will continue to happen regardless who we align with. Eg. DSTV operates on the "Pay as you go" plan in S.A but its the opposite in Nigeria. It helps them rip-off Nigerians and trust me, there are certain Nigerians collecting their cut up there for making it possible.
Cost of doing business in Nigeria has always been high. DSTV in SA does not deal with power failure or generator to power up its bases in SA but in Nigeria they do. Our laws governing international businesses in Nigeria can add up to many overhead cost. It makes more sense for a company like dstv to go on monthly plan package for its subscribers in Nigeria in order to manage risk and be assured of its receivables.

Now coming back to countries exploiting us, yes people in power and positions of authority may have foolishly sold this country in the past for kobo, I can tell you most of that has changed. New laws and policies are shaping Nigerian business environment like the local content act which requires up to 60% of contracts given out in the Petroleum Industry to be awarded to local companies by IOCs and other major players. This way, proceeds and knowledge remain within our shores. So things can change and all these things began in less than two years ago
