Politics / New N100 Notes Released:muslims(muric) Kick Against The Jewish Symbol-(pictures) by akubudejud(m): 12:55pm On Nov 25, 2014
N100 Notes: Jonathan Lashes Back At MURIC

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday refuted the allegation made against him by the Muslims Right Concern (MURIC) that a Jewish symbol in the proposed commemorative new N100 note which will be officially issued on December 19 was his ploy to promote a Zion nation.

In a statement issued by its Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola on Sunday, the Muslim group had made some grave allegations against the president, including that the security system in Aso Rock was saturated with Israeli security operatives, while Jonathan had chosen to marginalise the North as was seen at the national conference.

But the President in his reaction explained that, while the purported symbol MURIC’s statement was referring to is the Star of David, “there is no where on that proposed note as indicated in the specimen that has been widely publicised where there is any Jewish or Zionist symbol or the Star of David.”

Speaking through his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President accused MURIC of attempting to cause disaffection because of the design of the note, “the value of the note is written out in the three major languages in Nigeria, recognised in the constitution: Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.

“No attempt has been made to use this proposed naira note to discriminate anybody and the attack on President Jonathan is undeserved, unwarranted and totally unkind. I believe that MURIC will see the need to quickly apologise for misleading the public and for issuing that kind of statement that can cause disaffection against the President,” Abati stated.

He described the claim by MURIC that the security system in Aso Rock is saturated with Israeli security operatives as “a blatant lie”, just as he maintained strongly that “there are no Israeli security operatives saturating the security system in Aso Rock.”

In a statement he issued on Monday evening, Abati said, “To convince himself that this is true, we will like to invite Prof. Akintola on a visit to the Presidential Villa, to see whether indeed it is Israelis that are in charge of security.

“The security operatives in the Villa are not foreigners, they are Nigerians and there is no connection with Israel whatsoever. The premised of the issue that formed the basis for Akintola’s vituperation is wrong and he is misinformed.”

Noting that the group’s allegations against the president were rather curious, the presidential spokesman said the Akintola needed to be told that “President Jonathan is not anti-Muslim as he alleges.

“President Jonathan is the President of all Nigerians, whatever may be their beliefs. It is not true that President Jonathan is using the highest office in the country to promote Zion nation. I think that is a most unfortunate statement coming from Prof. Akintola of MURIC and for which they owe President Jonathan an apology.”

On allegation on Muslims’ marginalisation, Abati said, “Two, the MURIC’s director also alleged that Muslims were marginalized in the national conference. Again, this is a very unfortunate thing to say. The truth is that that national conference organised by this administration has been praised and described as probably one of the best of such conferences ever organised in this country. It was a purposeful conference, a conference in which a lot of maturity was displaced.

“Religion was not a big issue at that conference. Rather, the conference was a platform for addressing many issues of general concern to various groups, ethnic or religious. MURIC cannot claim not to know that the conference very successful.”

Clarifying on the claim that the president was planning to create a Zion nation, Abati said, “The Star of David is a hexagram which is two triangles of equal lines superimposed on each other. The hexagram is a very popular symbol, but it is not on that naira note.

“The symbol that he is referring to is not a Jewish symbol. It is what they call spark security feature. It is an optical magnetic feature which enables the public to authenticate a currency note whether it is genuine or counterfeit. That is the function of that particular design.

“That design is not an hexagram and it is not in any way associated with Israel or Jewish or Zionism. It is two squares merged into one with a Manila briquet, which is a symbol of the cowrie money used during the colonial era.”

TV/Movies / Reality Shows A Curse Or A Blessing! (nigerian Situation) by akubudejud(m): 11:05am On Oct 24, 2014
For some time now I have been bordered by what people seem to take for granted in Nigeria. In today’s world money and material possessions seems to be more important, relevant and worshiped than the moral and sane living preached in the past!.

The media that should project what the African society stand for are the major instrument for societal destruction, I was searching through my TV for programs recently but to my surprise our screen is full of shows that I count to be promoting either immoralities, sudden fame, bogus get wealth easily claims, fashion and sometime Godlessness, I stand to be corrected Many reality shows are damaging our society rather than building it , especially the youth now think making fame or becoming famous is all about life...where is the value of life?

Have we ever ask or care to know the motive of the organizer in organizing all kinds of reality shows? Did they really love the society? Is their motive clean? Or are they taking the unemployment ravaging the society to further exploit the youth? These are rhetorical questions meant to be answered in our conscience.
Our education is falling mass failure in our public examination and we believe the government should be responsible for correcting the anomalies, students don’t want to study hard anymore seeking the easiest way out of everything forgetting the fact that the hardness of life is what build one to live a good life, now, is our reality shows really helping out? In fact, the various rewards attached to this shows will make any young mind to do anything to be involved but the educative shows are rewarded with peanuts and left to the background, what a life! I really love the youth to be careful as this show like BIG BROTHER AFRICA, NIGERIAN IDOL , MBGN or what have you, for instance are not helping to develop the youth but latently killing our God given morals, the organizer of this shows have their motives (business in the expense of the youth) if not, should be more in the educative side, while some shows are good to help the youth to excercise and display their God given talent and energy some are out-rightly bad and immoral. No one is ready to promote education and morals anymore people buy things that are ungodly more than things that promote sane society.
The rewards for these shows are bogus and If properly probed can showcase the business side of the organizer than the good it brings to the society. I stand to be corrected though!

Education / List of 9 Universities In Nigeria Awarding Fake Degree (NUC) by akubudejud(m): 9:43am On Oct 24, 2014
For operating without legal licences, the National Universities Commission, NUC, has shut down nine universities in Nigeria.

The affected institutions were published in the weekly bulletin of the NUC, this is according to ynaija.com.
It was gathered that the publication was signed by the NUC’s executive secretary, Prof. Julius Okojie, stating that the universities which had been in existence for years, and have been used to extort money from innocent students who were giving fake certificates in return.
The affected universities are; National University of Nigeria, Keffi, Nasarawa State; North Central University, Otukpo, Benue State; Christ Alive Christian Seminary and University, Enugu; Richmond Open University, Arochukwu; Abia State and Saint Clements University, Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.

NUC Scribe, Prof. Julius Okojie
Others are West Coast University, Umuahia, Volta University College, Aba, Abia State and the satellite campuses of Ambrose Ali University.
The publication also reveal that: “In addition to the closure, the following `Degree Mills’ are currently undergoing court actions; the purpose of these actions is to prosecute the proprietors and recover illegal fees and charges on subscribers
“For the avoidance of doubt, anybody who patronises or obtains any certificate from any of these illegal institutions does so at his or her own risk.
“Certificates obtained from these sources will not be recognised for the purposes of NYSC, employment and further studies.”

NUC also urged Nigerians to dissociate themselves from the institutions and their certificates.
Meanwhile, Okojie had recently disclosed that the NUC has recommended nine new private universities to President Goodluck Jonathan for approval.
The commission scribe also stated that they are considering introduction of a pre-Doctoral Programme in the postgraduate studies in Nigerian universities.
Okojie made the statement while speaking at an interactive session with Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ECAN),
He explained that the proposed private universities had been approved by the NUC Governing Board.
Okojie, however, said the proposals sent to the president through the Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, would also receive the input and approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He lamented that access to university education had been a major challenge in the country, with over one million Nigerians, who were, on annual basis, unable to gain admission into the limited tertiary institutions because of low carrying capacity.
Meanwhile, the executive secretary of NUC has disclosed that the commission is considering introduction of pre-Ph.D programme in Nigerian universities based on the recommendation of some of the vice chancellors.

Universities in Nigeria. Nigeria is organised into 36 states and a federal capital territory (FCT) in Abuja. As a result of the oil boom years of the 1970s, tertiary education was expanded to reach every subregion of Nigeria. The federal government and the state governments were previously the only bodies licensed to operate universities. Recently, licenses have been granted to individuals, corporate bodies and religious bodies to establish private universities in the country. The National Universities Commission (NUC) is the major accreditation body that enforces uniform standard and sets admissions capacity of every university in Nigeria........Now as a Graduate, undergraduate, students which of the universities have you been to before ,sighted maybe on your way to somewhere else? You can as well say the one you prefer in terms of:

Romance / 9 Year Old Schoolboy Remarries 62year-old Woman In Mpumalanga, South Africa(pix) by akubudejud(m): 11:44am On Jul 21, 2014
A 9-year-old school boy has tied the knot with his 62-year-old bride in Ximhungwe, Mpumalanga, South Africa, to the amazement of all.

The 9-year-old Saneie Masilela due to ‘family culture’, has decided to remarry his bride, Helen Shabangu, who has already had five children.

Child Husband South Africa

The dapper-looking baby faced ‘groom’ and his mature bride looked quite extravagant as they were kissing each other in a bid to show their love, to the amazement of all the 100 guests present at the event.

Child Husband South Africa

Both families have confirmed their consent to the wedding, as the formal husband of the bride and two of her children, aged 28 and 38, have made it publicly known. They are happy that the couple are helping with the family ritual, which is meant to appease the ancestors of their family.

Child Husband South Africa

Revealing how they had all taken up the financial responsibilities of the said wedding, the formal husband says he is unperturbed about what anyone says.

The baby groom still has the hopes of remarrying a girl within his age range in future. However, he says that he loves his present bride as that was what made him to take the bold step of marrying Helen.

The bride, who expressed her happiness over the fact that the boy picked her, told the newsmen that the boy will continue to live a normal life, as other boys of his age, and will later get married to a younger bride, within his age limits. Helen added that they were both just fulfilling family traditions.

..in fact am not into the movie thing but I must say thank you 'Op' for this past memories you brought to us.

Truly speaking am still feeling the nostalgic impulse of how Nigeria stars use to make Nigerians happy even when the money was not in it then.

Well, good to know the past for a better future Nigeria....the good thing is that so many are married and are closer to God.

So today's Actor and Actress should get married well and respect the vows of marriage and stop embarrassing divors or multiple remarriage even when their spouse is not dead.

Good one Op!
