Career / Re: Teaching Job Is Now Hot Cake In Nigeria(My Experience). by akubudejud(m): 2:23pm On Jul 14, 2015
osawebaba:

Yes, just to add to akubudejud's post above.
I also studied Computer Science in Nigeria and during my NYSC as most of us, I was teaching, and immediately after my service, I came back to Lagos, where I took up a teaching job under TESCOM ( Teaching Service Commission), I did this for 2 years and felt the need to teach outside the country, so I applied for teaching position in an international school in one of the West African Countries. I was offered the job and I relocated.

I taught in the school for 2 years as well, and also applied to another international school in Europe, where I am presently teaching now.
This is not to say there hadn't been challenges during all these, but it is a systematic process and when you are in and understand the working, you actually decide where and how long you want to be with a school. But I will advice you stay longer and you get the necessary package for being with the school for at least 5 years.

And like he rightly said, teachers in international schools get paid hugely, plus health insurance, free or discounted tuition for your children, bonus, summer salary even with the 2 months summer break and many more. The relocation is so smooth and paper work is completely handled for you, flight to wherever you are hired is paid for. I am presently enjoying teaching and still had the opportunity to start and almost completing my Master's degree.

But you must start from somewhere. Teaching is an interesting and creative profession. But you need to start to understand this.
Time will not permit me to share my experience in this profession here. I wish you good luck.

...God bless you sir for this wonderful addition, young people needed to be encouraged this days! in facts as I speak to you presently, am now an academic Director in one of the schools in lekki, I got this job Immediately I completed my Masters Degree (ME.d).I started as an Ordinary classroom teacher earning N5,000.00 Per month just after my NYSC.The sky is not even your limit but you can only limit yourself..thanks again Bro Osawebaba...remain blessed.!

NOUN programs are not part-time programs at all.....Because you are allowed to go home/work everyday does not make it so!

It is flexible though but time demanding even more than you have free time in our normal campuses.

I bet you if you can not organize yourself well to study, plan your schedule and be current with the latest things you may likely not graduate,

My first and second degree in a conventional university compare to another PG degree I Finished from NOUN does not suggest in any area that is a part-time program, in fact the nomenclature is not designed so,it is just a generalized view of the people (outsiders).

Simple advice! If you can't read(study) don't apply to NOUN because you will be disappointed!

It is well!!

Gurning contests are a rural English tradition. By far the most notable is that held annually at the Egremont Crab Fair, which dates back to 1267. The origins of the gurning competition itself are unclear, and may not be so old, although it is beleived to be an ancient tradition.

The competitions are held regularly in some villages, with contestants traditionally framing their faces through a horse collar — known as “gurnin’ through a braffin.” Those with the greatest gurn capabilities are often those with no teeth, as this provides greater room to move the jaw further up.

Politics / 25 Die, Many Injured In Buhari Win Celebrations! by akubudejud(m): 9:22am On Apr 02, 2015
Reports just reaching us indicate that no fewer than 25 people died in Abuja, Kano, Makurdi and Niger yesterday, while celebrating the victory of President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

Vanguard reports that while 17 of the victims died in Kano, four died in Abuja, three in Kontagora, Niger State and one in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, while several others sustained injuries.
However, police authorities in Kano claimed only seven bodies were discovered by their men after the celebration.
According to an eyewitness, Ali Sufi of Naibawa quarters, three people were crushed to death at Naibawa U-turn, when a man in a Toyota Camry car lost control and rammed into those celebrating.

Sufi, further disclosed that one Sabo Ali, an ad hoc staff of communications giant, Etisalat, lost his life alongside his friend when a reckless driver knocked them down at Ungwa Uku end of Zaria Road within Kano metropolis.
Confirming Sabo’s death, guardian to the deceased, Mallam Idi Naibawa said that he (Sabo) died yesterday morning at Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital from injuries he sustained in the accident.

Idi Naibawa explained that “a good Samaritan, who identified Sabo’s motorcycle reported the accident, and our fear was confirmed at Yarakwa police station that rescued and took him to the hospital.
“We have accepted his death as a fulfilment of destiny and barring any hitch, Sabo would be buried before 5p.m. local time today (yesterday).”
In another eye witness account, Ibrahim Dogo, a resident of Naibawa quarters in Kano said that two teenagers were crushed to death along Zaria Road by a crazy driver.
Dogo said: “We received two dead bodies this morning at the Tiga Naibawa quarters and we are set to bury them.”
Another report from Hotoro also confirmed the death of six youngsters during the crazy celebration that engulfed the commercial city.
According to a resident, Masaud Badamasi, “we lost six boys to the crazy celebration last night and we are getting ready to give then a heroic burial.”

Politics / Re: If This Is Lagos Then Nigeria Can Be Better -we Just Need The Right Leadership! by akubudejud(m): 9:54am On Apr 01, 2015
President Elect General Buhari should employ the democratic principles to improve the living conditions of the deprived group, and re-integrate into the society those who have been excluded from the economic and political system by the many years of military rule. The poor who have carried the baggage for so long deserve a break.

Politics / Re: If This Is Lagos Then Nigeria Can Be Better -we Just Need The Right Leadership! by akubudejud(m): 9:52am On Apr 01, 2015
The military failed because it was repressive, corrupt, and undemocratic. The euphoria in the nation now is crucial to the understanding that the present democratic undertaking will succeed. Democracy will increase the role of the ordinary people in the system, and the irrepressible struggle of the people to humanize the society. Political democracy should remain our goal, because with it as the explicit goal Nigeria would attain her goals.

Politics / If This Is Lagos Then Nigeria Can Be Better -we Just Need The Right Leadership! by akubudejud(m): 9:51am On Apr 01, 2015
....Change is ubiquitous in any society, particularly in that which strives to fulfil human needs. And it takes a committed leadership to accomplish a propitious change in a society. Nigeria's short life has been packed with successions of social changes. There has been the shift from regions to states, from farms to cities, from agriculture to industries, and now power shift from the north to the south. These changes have not been for the benefit of the common man. Only those in the corridor of power have gained from those with multiplicity of riches, while the ordinary citizens have remained in wallowing penury. In other words, the masses have been preoccupied with the struggle for daily survival. Since independence in 1960, the nation has mostly been under the claws of the military. The dominance, predominance, and prolongation of military rule in Nigeria combined with corruption to undermine due process, the rule of law, transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government. But the people have rightly rejected the military, with the election of a civilian president who assumed leadership of the nation on May 29, 1999.

Politics / President Jonathan Concedes to Buhari Congratulate Him -Strenght or Weakness? by akubudejud(m): 9:34am On Apr 01, 2015
The president action and at least one Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor has also congratulated Buhari, calling on Nigerians to accept the outcome of the elections.

Jonathan’s apparent concession is a highly positive development. The fact that President Jonathan has accepted the outcome of the elections does not preclude operatives withinthe PDP from challenging the election’s credibility. But, it makes it much more difficult. It also makes it likely that those who oppose the outcome of the elections will not have command of the security services. Nigerian social media is already praising Jonathan for his “gracious acceptance of defeat” and thereby contributing to peace in the country. Already there are tweets that Jonathan’s congratulatory call is his most “notable achievement in office” as chief of state.

It is now likely that Muhammadu Buhari will be the next president of Nigeria. The Nigerian elections have strengthened democracy in Nigeria and also elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa where democracies’ roots are fragile.

INCREDIBLE!!!!

A baby girl born with an “elephant trunk” is being worshipped as a Hindu god in a village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in northern India.

The girl, who has not yet been named, was born to Rambabu Sarvesh and his wife Banna Devi on Thursday. Since then thousands of people from all over the country have flocked to the small village to see the new-born infant. The locals believe that the baby girl is an incarnation of the Hindu deity Ganesha, who also has a trunk.

Politics / Pope Francis Commends Economy Under Jonathan Called Nigeria “african Giant” by akubudejud(m): 12:38pm On Mar 26, 2015
Only few days ago, Vatican Radio released a letter by Pope Francis to Bishops in Nigeria to express his closeness to them in prayers as well as addressing issues surrounding the country Nigeria.

The 2nd paragraph of the letter, the pontiff spoke highly of the Nigerian economy which has grown to the largest in Africa in “recent years”, under Jonathan’s watch. Pope Francis wrote:

“NIGERIA, known as the “African giant”, with its more than 160 million inhabitants, is set to play a primary role, not only in Africa but in the world at large. In recent years, it has experienced robust growth in the economic sphere and has again reasserted itself on the world stage as an attractive market, on account of its natural resources as well as its commercial potential. It is now considered officially the single largest African economy. It has also distinguished itself as a political player widely committed to the resolution of crisis situations in the continent.”
The text of the letter has elicited reactions mostly favorable to the President Jonathan camp as they struggle to convince Nigerians of the Economic growth in the face of the APC’s heavy propaganda Machinery.
According to Wole Akinyeye “Can anyone take this from us? But it only happened under the watch of a VISIONARY LEADER-GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN! ‪#‎GEJTill2019 is the demand of majority of NIGERIANS”

Ms. Eleanya Onwuka “APC will soon claim President Goodluck Jonathan paid the Pope for his statement on Nigeria’s growth. APC is a party full of lies and deceptions as exposed by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State. God Bless Nigeria, God Bless President Goodluck Jonathan”
Another commenter Mr. Richard, he said “Good deed has a way of speaking for itself. Good luck Jonathan is working, it’s no fiction, the world at large is attesting to that fact. Vote him to do more!”
“Pope Francis also attest to the growth of the Nigerian economy. Whose report do you believe? Don’t let the APC propaganda agents deceive you.”

Timi Remi-Meindinyo also said “Never again are we allowing a confirmed NITWIT rule us again! To reverse all the gains we have painstakingly achieved under the able leadership of President GEJ. Never again. Thank you and God bless Pope Frances.”
The Pope’s endorsement of Nigerian Economic growth sends a strong message to many more Nigerians who exalt his office as the pontiff cannot be seen to be an agent of the PDP or President Jonathan
