Politics / Workers Accuse Akerdolu Of Using Their Salaries And Allowances For Campaign by AlabaAdeyemi20: 10:17am On Jul 09, 2020
There is an uneasy calm in Ondo state as the governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has not paid the salaries of teachers in the state.

Few days ago all the health workers in the state went on strike for non payment of their hazard allowances which led to the sacking of all resident doctor in the state owned University of Medical sciences by the government.

Local government workers in the state only got 32% of their total salary for last month.

However an Akure government house source who spoke to us on a condition of anonymity stated that Akeredolu has been using funds meant for the payment of salary and other entitlement to finance his second term bid.

The source stated that when he went to Abuja to purchase his forms he gave a huge amount of money to the members of the former national working committee so as to enable them give him a soft landing during the screening and the primary election.

However after the former National Working committee of the party has been eased out by the National Executive council of the party, he has to revisit the newly constituted caretaker committee, where he also gave them a huge amount of money running into 500 million.

"We are suffering but our governor goes about sharing money meant for our salary to strangers because he wants them to conduct indirect primaries for him"

The ondo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress has been in crises for a long time. This is why many of the aspirants are calling for a direct primary where all the members can vote.

Politics / Open Letter To Seyi Law by AlabaAdeyemi20: 11:43am On Jun 16, 2020
OPEN LETTER TO SEYI LAW

First of all accept my condolences on the unexpected death of your aunt whose death you have publicly attributed to the lack of basic equipment at the General hospital in Igbokoda.

What you saw in Igbokoda Is the picture of what we have in all Government hospital belonging to the state government across Ondo state. In our state People die of some of the most ridiculous diseases because most of our hospital lack the needed basic manpower and equipment.

We saw a video of you jumping like an overfeed monkey and shouting "Aketi ti settle e" but now when this event has happened who will settle this matter?

A friend of mine lost his mum this year due to the same reason at the teaching hospital annex in Akure. The pains we have endured is unimaginable.

I am sure you know that the former governor olusegun Mimiko built the popular mother and child hospital where people go to have safe delivery free of charge your now estranged friend cancelled the program. People now have delivery at cut-throat price.

Since 1999 all the governors we have had have been paying for WAEC of all SS 3student,AD did, PDP did, Labour party did but Akeredolu cancelled it.

Until the arrival of Aketi no student of the state owned University in Akungba paid more than 35k but since his arrival the cheapest course at that University is 170k.

Did you ask the people in your home town the last time they had power supply?

Some of them have not seen power supply in a decade.

You are a comedian and you deserve to get paid for your service but our lives in ondo state has not been funny since Aketi came on board.

Politics / Hon Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde Abena: His Ways And Wisdom by AlabaAdeyemi20: 7:58pm On Jun 08, 2020
As far as ondo state politics is concerned today, hon Sunday Ifedayo Abegunde is one man whose political sagacity cannot be overemphasized.

He is the first and only man to be elected twice to represent his constituency in the federal house of representative.

He returned from the United States in 2002 and got elected for the first time into the house of representative less than six months later in 2003.

One of the things that makes him stand out is his simplicity towards issues of common good.

He is one man who will never hold back his hands of giving from anyone in need at any time.
Abena as he is fondly called by his Love Is has changed many lives in akure. Thousands of people textify to his Goodwill and his good nature.

He is someone who grew up in abject poverty yet struggled and painstakingly clawed his way to the top.

He openly confessed that he sold Akara as a young boy in Akure.

If there is one politician whose name comes to mind when talking about a politician with a lot of die hard followers the name Abena comes to mind in Akure and ondo state.

He is a founding member of the action Congress of Nigeria ACN In Ondo state he not only built the structure of the party in Akure he also spent his resources for several years to ensure that the party did not die in North and South.

The administration of the former governor olusegun mimiko openly vilified him and almost made life miserable for him yet he never bowed.

That administration made sure that he never enjoyed his second stay in the house of representative as he was chased around with intermittent court cases. Yet Abena did not bow down his head for that mini god.

He is quiet but calculating, his words are his bound. This is why it seems whenever there is any election in ondo state where he stands is always of concern any political group within the state.

He is currently the secretary to the ondo state government.

Politics / Bola Ilori Blasts Akerdolu by AlabaAdeyemi20: 6:41am On May 01, 2020
LEAVE TINUBU OUT OF YOUR WOES, YOU ARE BEHIND APC TRAVAILS IN ONDO’
– Bola Ilori Tells Akeredolu.

Permit me the use of the very deep but apt Yoruba onomatopoeia, “Agabagebe” in order to drive home the very point I am out to make in this piece; a response to the ranting of the Governor of Ondo, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu and his minions.

Akeredolu’s vengeful and vindictive attitude is the cause of all the troubles in Ondo APC. Conscience is an open wound. It would be strange for a man that has become Governor for years to still be bellyaching over an intra-party primary that preceded his tenure, if not for the fact that his conscience is never at rest with the open exposure of the fraud that lined his way to the Government House.

It will be recalled that the party’s Appeal Panel annulled the primaries that produced Akeredolu due to glaring fraud. The NWC of the party never agreed to the emergence of Akeredolu but the Oyegun/Saraki conspiracy of the era unilaterally submitted the name of Akeredolu to INEC and subsequently mobilized huge funds for his “see and buy” victory thereby imposing a made-in-Abuja Governor on Ondo state

. Akeredolu’s anti-party activity would have been justifiable as a payback were it to be that their mischiefs were directed against either Chief Olusola Oke or Bola Ilori, but neither of us were on the ballot but President Buhari and our National Assembly members. So it was a deliberate sabotage against the fortune of the party.

Rather than the Governor to openly apologize for his treachery against the President, the party and the people, he has continued to hold on to the straw and towing the path of arrogance that has led to the dwindling fortune of the party in Ondo state since his emergence as Governor.

We that he claimed to be copying did not act cowardly like him. We moved to another party and expressed our democratic rights. We never indulged in anti-party activities like he did and still doing. We never perpetrated 'agabagebe' by staying in APC and working against the party like they did even while holding party and government position.
Politics / Crises Looms In Ondo Apc As Governor Buys 477 Million Naira Vehicles For Himself by AlabaAdeyemi20: 10:42am On Apr 23, 2020
*CRISES LOOMS IN ONDO AS AKEREDOLU BUYS HIMSELF 477 MILLION NAIRA* *VEHICLES*

Admist the economic hardship brought upon the people due to the lockdown occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the dwindling financial prospect of country due to the drop in the price of crude oil the Ondo state Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has allegedly acquired three pieces of wonders on wheels for his personal use.

The three vehicles were purchased at a total sum of 477 million Naira only. A Benz G class which costs 187 million and two Lexus trucks which cost 145 million Naira each.

This moves which is perceived ill-timed and insensitive is by many people in the state has futher worsened the alredy tensed up atmosphere with the state chapter of the party.

A stalwart of the APC who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity said " This governor has futher revealed his true colour to all of us.He has proven to be a man who is grossly insensitive to the plight of the people who voted for him and the totality of the people he governs"

"At a time when most of our people are crying of hunger our leader has chosen to ride new cars on our empty stomach" he said

Another person, a market woman Mrs Apeke ojo who spoke in Yoruba to our reporter about the latest event said" E ba wa so fún Aketi wipe ati gbọ o, eti oba nile eti oba loko eyan lo n jẹ bẹẹ o....ebi n pawa wọn n gun jiipu. Oju a tunra ri o( tell the governor we have heard about his new action, nothing is hidden,we are hungry but he is riding Jeep... soon we shall meet again).

Recently the governor has attracted wide spread criticism for including the name of his son Babajide Akeredolu In the list of the committee put in charge of the COVID-19 palliative finances.
Politics / Akerdolu Puts Son And Son In-law In Charge Of L Palliative Funds by AlabaAdeyemi20: 3:58am On Apr 04, 2020
Sequel to the Constitution of the palliative Committee, the governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has constituted another committee which is to take charge of the management of the fund raised by the palliative committee.

However two names are attracting negative attention in the list. The secretary of the committee is Babajide Akeredolu who is the governor's son and The Auditing company which belongs to an in-law of the governor infact a brother to his daughter, Yejide's husband.

The names which was made public on Friday night in a press statement signed by the commissioner for information has further portrayed the image of the governor as nepotistic.

Sometimes in February while celebrating his third year in office Akerdolu had attracted widespread criticism when he said he could make his son Babajide Akeredolu the chief of staff and no one would do anything about it.

Politics / Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde Speaks On The Lessons Of Covid-19 by AlabaAdeyemi20: 12:26pm On Mar 30, 2020
The secretary to the Ondo state government Hon Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde has spoken on the lesson of life he has learnt due to the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic.

In a post made on his social media handles on Sunday he enumerated the salient points which he considers as important lessons of this traumatic times.

Read the post below

The recent events occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 has taught me many lessons some of which I will like to share with you.

I have learnt that life is a gift and a privilege no one has the ultimate assurance of life.

I have also learnt that death is closer than we can ever imagine.A man who went to a full scale war and came back with his body and soul intact can get killed by a supposedly harmless handshake.

I have also realized that we have underated the freedom we enjoy for too long.

No television set can ever replace the company of friends and family and no social media can be as human as a real human. This lesson we are all learning now.

I have learnt that no one actually knows tommorow.
I have learnt to laugh at anyone in crises because it could be anyone's turn tomorrow. In the beginning we thought this was just a Chinese problem but now it's a global pandemic.

When all these is over we would have all learnt that little things matters.

Let me end this by saying that I have realized why William Shakespeare compared life to "a story told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing"

Good morning.
Celebrities / Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde:why I Don't Take Pictures With People I Help by AlabaAdeyemi20: 7:04am On Mar 18, 2020
The secretary to the Ondo state government and former member of the house of Representatives Hon Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde has explained why he keeps the camera away when he gives to help those in need.

While answering questions from some journalists at his Alagbaka residence in Akure on Tuesday he explained that he doesn't like scoring political points with the plight of people in need.

"When people are in need and I am able to help, I find sufficient joy in being able to help . It's not necessary to massage my ego by posing for the camera" he explained

"Some people spend more money advertising their good act than the actual good act which they have done." he explained further.

He advised that every Nigerian must become his brothers keeper.

" I don't know how people derive joy from posing for pictures with accident victims just because you want to give them some money"

Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde is a politician who has gained prominence for his compassionate act without wanting to be named or seen.

Politics / Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde:the Man Called Abena by AlabaAdeyemi20: 12:01am On Mar 18, 2020
For many of us who live in Akure anytime we are talking about grassroot politicians whom God has used to help a lot of people out of difficult situations without making any noise about it, one name comes to mind and that name is ABENA.

Ten months ago a friend was in great need of financial assistance for his education and he has been everywhere without any help until someone suggested to him to go and see Abena.

"How do I meet him?" He asked

"Like an appointment or some form of contact" he explained

"You don't need any appointments to see Abena" he was told

So the next morning he decided to go to the Alagbaka residence of Hon Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde the man called Abena. I went with him.

On getting there we went into the large but modest compound. No one asked us any questions but we met a large number of people, men and women of diverse age. Some of the young ones were holding files and different kinds of documents. We were asked to wait as all this people had come to see the same man.

I noticed that after five minutes someone came out and said "next person" another person stood up and went inside.

To cut the long story short it got to our turn and my friend explained that he needed some money to take care of his school fees. The man Abena who was wearing a simple shirt and shorts simply went inside and gave him half of the Money. He however promised to pay the rest in a week time a promise which he fulfilled.

Unlike many politician he didn't even ask my friend for his name or his family details.

I later learnt that this is the way he does his things he does not take pictures with people he helps. If you have a problem and he feels he can do something about it he will just do it and not look back.

Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde was elected twice to represent Akure South and Akure North federal constituency in the house of Representatives in 2003-2007 and in 2011-2015. He is the only person living or dead who has been given that privilege in the constituency.

He is currently secretary to the Ondo state government. A position he has occupied since 2017.

One day, I was forced to ask him why he doesn't take pictures with the people he helps or empowers. He simply said he doesn't think it is appropriate to use people's challenges to score political points.

He further explained that the heart felt testimonies of the beneficiaries of his act giving should be sufficient.

Although educated in the United States Abena relates with the people at the grassroot like no other politician in Akure. He speaks their language and feels their pain.

Within the last ten months and now I have heard so much about his good deeds and how much he cares about his people.

One last thing told I and my friend is not to think about paying him back but to become great and help someone else and never to make needless noise when we do so.
My name is Adebisi Olarewaju
