The only place the word acculturation/enculturated ever appeared and existed is in ijaw doctored media and literature. So much it has become a figment of gullible people's imagination.

There was no such record in history because it never existed. The reason why the Jaja dynasty won the Supreme Court judgment, is exactly because of this same reason. All their accounts of history is doctored.
Enculturation was never a myth.
Ijo clans still practice it today.
If it was a myth, why did okwarazurumba mbanaso change his name to Jubo jubogha??
You're seeing facts before your eyes, you're calling it myth.

The question, where was Ijaw/Ijo/Ejo mentioned in all this?

You are arguing about Okoloma and Obane, in the same book.
They were all autonomous (calabari, Bonny, brass, kula, bille, etc) that was why Europeans addressed them by their names and not covering them up as ijo, but they all know that they descended from ijo.

Engenni is made up of five major clans known as Enuedua (Joinkrama), Ogua, Ejiro—Ede, Ejiro-Ekunu, and Ogbogolo Clans. The former are your edoid. Ogbogolo isn't.

I want to emphasize on ogbogolo because that language is easily a mixture of Nembe and ogbia.
Ogbogolo is made up of Egbama, Opu-Ogbogolo, and Kala-Ogbogolo.
Ogbogolo itself speaks an ogbia-like language and it isn't far from Nembe because the engenni river is connected to the tailor and kolo creek which ARE ROUTES TO NEMBE AND OGBIA.
In Nembe in particular, we have opu Nembe too.

To add to this to cover your own clarification, Epie-attissa is actually Epie and attissa.
Similar to hausa-fulani.

There are edoid languages for sure, but ogbogolo of the Atissa side isn't edoid. It is an ogbia like language.
Please also read the quoted comment.

Ekealterego:
Don't try to be clever here.

Most languages in West Africa, except for Northern tribes like Hausa are all Niger Congo. Even Twi in Ghana is Niger Congo.

Ijoh as a language sticks out like a sore thumb. Ijoh is the only different language group in that area. It is more related to Kru in far away Senegal and Sierra-Leone.

More narrowly, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Epie and Engenni, Urhobo, Isoko, Akoko are all Volta-Niger people.

Ijoh is different from ALL these languages.

Igboid see this Guy's cunning explainatiin of his version of Niger-Congo. He doesn't know his language is closer to Kru in Sierra-leone than it is to any language in the Niger Delta.
You will never hear something in this life. The ijo connection in Sierra Leone and Gabon were migrant fishermen who didn't mean to go that far, but were lost at sea.
Even now people get lost whenever the fog covers the water. And before it clears, water go dn carry you.
And you keep being daft...my dialect isn't ijo, it is Nembe, Nembe Nembe for the umpteenth time, so you can't tell me which language in the Niger delta is closer to ijo.
Almost every dialect in the Niger delta is closely related to ijo. Every one under the ijo Ethnic group knows this.

Now look at that screen shot,, do you see how far Volta and edoid are placed?

This is the last time I will reply you on this topic , because it's obvious you are unteachable.

Agulu existed because Eri settled there , whence it became Agulu Eri , due to his influence. There are other Agulu towns like the place where former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi hails from , and Agulu-uzo-Igbo , Victor Umeh's home town. Agulu is not a name of a person. You are dense , oga.

Ifeukwuanim migrated down the Omanbala plain and never made it to Agukwu Nri.

Again , Agulu is not a name of Eri's offspring.

Ekealterego:
What does clan mean? The Oguan nation is bigger than a "clan". It is an insult.

Epie-Atissa ethnic nationality deserves respect.
A clan or tribe is a CLOSE KNITTED group of INTERRELATED FAMILIES or A SOCIAL DIVISION in a traditional society linked by blood ties and a dialect.

A clan can be big or small, but the vital thing is blood ties and the interrelated families.
Nembe use to have one king before the the 1690's till bassambiri was founded. then in the 1700s obioku was founded, and there are other kingdoms to which were established.
It is growing, and you might feel it is too big to be referred to a clan, but it is bounded by BLOOD TIES and DIALECT.

Now about Epie-attissa, because of the influex of engenni migrants who brought the edoid language, and it corrupted them a bit; perhaps that is what that guy is trying to say, and the other ones are not correlating with him.
Epie-attissa speaks a NIGER-CONGO LANGUAGE, ijo too is a NIGER-CONGO LANGUAGE.

Epie-attissa has another group that speaks the edoid language because of the engenni migrants like I told you, so the other groups who were there before engenni migrants came won't let them pull them.

And let me shock you, do you know a town in engenni has migrants from ogbia? And they speak plain ogbia language which is a NIGER-CONGO LANGUAGE? The name of that town is ogbogolo .
Engenni were conquered by Benin, and they migrated and brought that influence.
This intertwined truth is bigger than you, and it will even confuse you.
Visit the town, stop visiting FACEBOOK
Infact engenni has three languages (one edoid, the other ijoid being the migrants from ogbia)
No matter what, we still hear them to an extent when they speak.
The engenni migrants which even have an ijoid migration faction can not pull the entire Epie-attissa.

You made an ignorant statement and I corrected you and generously informed you , then you turned around to lecture me about what you know nothing about. Where do you get off ?

MENRI or Ifeukwuanim is the recognized first son of Eri. When you said Nri you are referring to descendants and and whole contingent of Eri-Ifeukwuanim , found in numerous Anambra communities , and Enuani of Delta state. Nri is not a name of a person , just like Ijaw.

I will advice you to focus on learning Ijaw origin, for a start. I have a rich and noble history and I know the story of my people.
Mention the part where I said NRI is the name of a person huh
I never said that, go back and open your eyes and read again(this time slowly)

And if menri is the first son of ERI, who then is Agulu? (Aguleri) is Aguleri not (agulu-nwa ERI)huh
When ERI died, according to the Igbo tradition about first sons inheriting their fathers lands, wasn't it Agulu who stayed back to inherit his father's land and founded Agulerihuh
Then menri left to find umunri(kingdom of Nri) and for this, Aguleri is still the ancestral home of the umunri(kingdom of Nri) despite it being the ancestral home of ERI clan because MENRI MIGRATED FROM THAT PLACE WHICH USE TO BE HIS FATHER'S but inherited by his big bro (AGULU-NWA ERI)

Go and study your history before you come study ours.
PoliticsRe: Meet The Epie-Atissa People of Bayelsa State. by Alabo7978(m): 6:28pm On Dec 08, 2021
IDENNAA:
Eri is not the progenitor of the Igbo race , but merely the leader of a migration that gave rise to Nri people. Nri people are chiefly found in Anambra and Anioma/Enuani. I am a decent of Oji Okodu , an Nri man who settled at a place called Abatete and his descendants spread to Umuoji and Umudim -Ideke /Nkpor. Therefore your comparisons of Eri to Ijaw is grossly flawed because whilst Eri is not the name of an ethnic group Ijaw is.

Secondly, Bonny , Kalabari , Okrika , Brass and the rest has no tradition nor legend that trace their origin to Ijaw, except the ones manufactured by you people.
Greatly flawed you say??
Lol, you don't even know about the IBO history. You talk about oji okudo "an nri man" you say. Now isn't menri the founder of Nri? And then in turn isn't menri the second son of ERI?
Lol get out, anyways that is not my business to argue, but go and learn your history well. You don't know your history, you are here to argue my history.
Now whatever you all chose to name your ethnic group has no business with me.
We chose to name ours after ijo and it is our business.
And did I hear you mention okrika kalabari, NEMBE. Etc huh
Lol,
First of all let me shock you, I am a Nembe man and we all trace our ORIGIN to ijo.
Our counting system is the same, our beliefs and language are similar. I can hear the Calabari and okrika man when they speak, I can hear the ijo man too, as well as the ogbia man.
Do not sit in your house in ABA saying what you don't know.
I stopped taking you all serious when Ekealterego said Nembe was Igbo, then I knew all of you have not even been to any of the clans you want to claim.
Such a pity.
Same with okrika, kalabari etc whom use to originally be a fishing camp till it morph into a town.
Do not think everyone here defending ijo is an ijo man (purely)
We have our various clan but our ethnicity is ijo.

" Historical research has been cited numerous times on this topic and not once was Ijaw ever mentioned at Bonny , but here you are talking about exposing people. Are you drunk or what ?
Ijo is an Ethnic nationality.
It has over 60 clans.
(I'll advice you to go and look them up)
Ijo wasn't wealthy or influential, but it's descendants were.
Just as Eri wasnt or barely mentioned in any European text, so is ijo.
Just because the European called y'all heebo or Igbo or ebo doesn't disconnect you from your patriachal ancestor Eri.
The Europeans mentioned other clan, but these clans trace their ancestry to ijo.

However, Ogbia ethnic nationality and Oguan Ethnic nationality was not mentioned as Pirates only Ijoh ethnic nationality were described as canoe dwelling wild, uncivilized pirates.

The obiama's were pirates too, and some ijo people teamed up with the Amayanabo of Nembe to defeat them.

Bonny belong to the Okoloama people who are an offshoot of ijo.

All of a sudden, a newspaper article ( Editorial piece) of 1925 is now tenable while other contrary documents written during the same period is hastily dismissed by you guys. Imagine the hypocrisy.

There was no where in the original letter Azikiwe referred to Opobo as ibo.

In the same article, Zik alluded to the fact that " The ibos themselves are a war-like tribe rating from the sixteen century but after civil war in Benin they migrated and settled on the east side of the river Niger"

I hope you would also agree with Zik that ibos were once under Benin kingdom.
They have gone mute.

The other one is bringing up Jubo jubogha memorial.

Ask him who enculturated Jubo jubogha?
They want to claim him and his entire 14 houses without knowing most those houses were ijo houses.
Without knowing Jubo himself swore before the spirits themselves as he abandoned his old self dropping the name mbanaso okwarazurumba.

If Ezecanada (their newest clown) and the older ones like 9pluto Ekealterego wants to claim, they should re-enculturate his spirit in the land of the dead from Jubo jubogha to okwa(whatever)Zumba mbaso.

that alone is big prove that the ijos were the owners, lord and master of the Igbos, and bonny.

captain8 Putindbutt ditaridesciple2
how about we think of names to rename our slaves?

I earlier renamed Ekealterego OTONYE DOMOKUMA
9pluto, SlayerForever Igboid biafrarep bkayy needs to be renamed ASAP.
we need to enculturate them like our ancestors did.

funny enough you don't even know that the yorubas see us as brothers.
in their own oral tradition, ijo who is to them as ujo was the first son to oduduwa who both migrated from the Nile basin around Egypt.
ijo had a personal juju named Adum, the yorubas knew that juju as adumu.

interestingly Adum deity was the first deity in Bonny kingdom and Alagbiriye also served as it's priests.
if the founders of Bonny didn't migrate from kolokuma (same with calabari) why do they share the same language?
why did the bonnys worship Adum?

anyways, I'm not making a point because it'll fall on deaf ears.
soon I will seize to respond to you clowns.
I will create time and write a well detailed thread, it's just time.
it is in ijaw tradition to enculturate a slave bought, Jaja was also enculturated to Jubo jubogha,
Asimini made some Igbo slaves free men after helping him in battle, now if you claim igbos owned Bonny, why were the igbos enculturated?
why was okwarazurumba renamed Jubo jubogha?

see major clowns, your lies are like leaking nylon, water keeps pouring out.
the igbos are known to move about for business and establish, reason there is atleast one igbo man in every country in the world.
the Bonny people allowed you settle, GAVE YOU THEIR NAMES, FREED YOU FROM SLAVERY, now you want to be a land grabber.
e no go better for una.

just because you igbos are a nuisance everywhere who like to make noise in everything you do, you brought your noise to spread lies just because the ijo man is not a noise maker.
no wahala.
because bonneians freed you.
I will make out time to expose the lies. seriously I didn't know this is what has been going on in nairaland.
it is a pity.
I am requoting my earlier post were it was clearly a typographical error which I only noticed after coming online few minutes ago following the mentions.

so ask yourselves
what is the business of a Yoruba man in the ijo Ethnic group, what is his gain... but no, y'all didn't ask or think that.
You all started cumming hard on it.
sorry, your night of a thousand laugh is cut short,
I am a Nembe-ijo guy,
born of the creek and mangroves.
the muddy delta is my pride,
I come from a long line of kings (from king ogio, to king Ogbodo to king Wari) and we all trace our ancestry to ijo, the progenitor of the ijo Ethnic group, ancestor to all the coastal dwellers, the shark of the deep blue seas.

But you have been posturing as ijaw here. Did you mistakenly forget your tribe? grin grin grin I can remind you, you know.

Bruv, that's Roger Blench's book written from year 2010-2020.

Go and dig up history books, just like we did.

Our oldest snippet was 1906 and we even used it very sparringly to make another point.... Go deeper in 200 years like we have done.
you're looking for old snippet but I showed you crowther's report and pepple and Dr koeller. which are way older than 1906, you rejected, Putindbutt brought this one, now you're looking for older one.
why are you a chameleon?

the igbos never owned affinity with water,
you all said it, that the reason why they hated the water was the disease that comes with it, mosquitoes etc.
y'all said it.
the IBOS are farmers who cultivate Yams etc now you all want to claim river folks all of a sudden?
since when.

Ayiba!

If Yorubas were as senseless and non strategic like Igbo Leaders starting from Zik to modern day Governors, the Ijaws would have since claimed the entire ONDO sea coasts.

But Yorubas made sure to keep them in check.

They were also checkmated in Lagos seas coasts too.
It's sad to admit, but Yorubas always had more strategic and foresighted Politicians than we do in Igboland.
The average Igbo Politician doesn't think beyond stockpiling funds from his state or constituency to go live in USA, UK or Canada.
Important group survival issues is non of their business.

It's a pity, this is what we have to correct.

Ijaw is a fraud. They've also given you people facts that you were in the sea, lived in the sea. So now, tell me, how would Igbo be at the fringes...Oh, sorry, you mean at the coast? And you guys were at the sea. That's plausible.

You guys never owned land. Opobo and Bonny are meant to dislike you people the minute they know what Boro did to their kind, perhaps there was a time you sneakily asked for reconciliation and began to cleanse their language from them.

But the Chi of all Igbos are strong. They stuck to their language till the end of time, and you Ijaws aren't getting it. grin
ok, I see you have been brainwashed.
continue.
funny thing is you don't know the ijoh's are an ancient autochthonous people who inhabited the coast, swamps and mangroves.
Bonny was a swamp, the ancient people traded salt with the Benin empire several hundred years ago before the Advent of the Europeans, keep allowing yourself to be decieved we know the mass migration, the birth of several clans when there founders migrated.
all ijoh's know there history, and not all ijos were sea pirates only the obiama's, and other ijo tribes banded and purnished them.
calling ijos pirates is like saying the entire ibos are 419ers

I believe Ijaws are grabbing this or taking advantage of Opobo and Bonny because they desire to take the full power of the coast. I assure you if there was no crude oil or people didn't use the sea to trade, you'll see Ijaw calling them Igbo people.

They want to take over all of the coast from Lagos to Opobo, perhaps they'll move to Akwa Ibom soon, and begin to take a weak part of their family to take advantage on and begin to tell them stories from hell that they are Ijaw and Ibibio stole their land from them. grin.

We all know, but the funny part of it all is, if you have all the coastal waters what do you do with it, except you want to be collecting surcharge from we at the hinterland. Why? It doesn't make sense. I believe that's Ijaws main motive. They know Igbos are main trading people, so this is business and Opobo and Bonny are hot spots.

Lagos and Ondo had luck that they didn't bring Ijaws in, in their lands in large number or they weren't close to them, if not Yoruba's would have been having this stress.
are you familiar with the map of Nigeria?
please to clear your eyes, check the map, the Igbo speaking tribes ended on the fringes of River state, and there is a large number of tribes between Igbo land and Bonny.
now young woman, do you now believe that igbos will be the first to cross those tribes to beat them to Bonny which is at their backyard?
please reason am.

it's just like me as a Nembe-ijoh person claiming I began trading operation in igala land which is at Igbo backyard, or let me use your own Ghana for instance.
Togo is between Ghana, now which of both country do you think will get to Ghana first?

reason am.

oil is not the problem,
Every ijo land has oil and gas, it technically leaks from the ground if you dig deep a little.
please, use your initiative, Bonny is enclaved by ijaw tribes and infact Bonny is the land before the sea, and you want to let clowns decive you to believe that Bonny which is in the heart of ijo tribes were reached by the igbos when crowther and pepple and Dr koeller clearly revealed igbos were slave there(no offense)
please reason it.
the language, culture is evident.
use your head.
