Igbos only believe in noise.
Very true.
They only have their current size because of the contribution of ibibio In the east, Benin and Ijaw in the west, Igala in the north and ijaw in the south

Culture / THE CENSUS; A Foundational Launchpad For Self Awareness, Identity Consciousness by Alabo7978(m): 3:43pm On Apr 18, 2023
Ijaw are an ethnic group inhabiting a great significant portion of the Niger delta and can infact be described as the warden of the south south.
They share dialectical affinity, culture and traditions across its length and bridth and are believed to be numbered just a little above 14million, but are such meagre figures real?
The negligence and lukewarmness of previous census boards such as the adoption of proxy counting because of fear of the unknown in venturing into the creeks for proper numbering, coupled with identity crisis that has plagued the psyche of the Ijaw people in the past has certainly affected our unity, population, growth and influence, but all thanks to Opu Nanaowei the Ijaw nation has made significant progress in it's unity in such a way that an Amasoma man will no longer say "I am an Amasoma man and not an Ijo man, likewise the kalabari or Nembe man.

ALTHOUGH, the great wealth and autonomy which some of the Izonic clans enjoyed as powerful city states and kingdoms in the days of antiquity still looms as an invisible aura of pride and achievement BUT HAS IT IN SOME WAY CONTRIBUTED TO THE DIVISION WE EXPERIENCED SOME FEW DECADES AGO?
can it be seen in preparation for the coming census? our closest neighbors; the igbos and yorubas will be used as a case study to reinforce our allegiance to our ethnicity because united we will stand strong, divided we will fall.
An Igbo tribe man from the Ngwa clan will ofcourse by default fill Igbo as his language EVEN IF HE SPEAKS THE NGWA DIALECT, but in his home town fill "osisioma-ngwa" or "aba-ngwa" or "isiala-ngwa", remember! the revenue allocation isn't allocated to dialect but to town and local government! Take a pause and read that again.

A Yoruba man from the ijebu clan will by default fill Yoruba as his language EVEN IF HE SPEAKS THE IJEBU DIALECT but in his home town fill "oke-agbo" or "japara" or "ojowo" remember! the revenue allocation isn't allocated to dialect! for to towns and local government. Take a pause and read that again.
This is where their strength lies, in unity and togetherness but when they head back to their tents they will represent or answer their fathers name, so why should Ijaw own be different? Ofcourse Ijaw clans such as Gbaran, iduwini, Akassa, Nembe, Bonny and Kalabari just to mention a few traded directly with the Europeans and became wealthy such that they at a point didn't need their brothers, and that went some way in creating a sense of division, *but it should be remembered that outside the tent we are Ijaws*. Without unity we will be lost. Izon'bo! Izon'bo!! Izon'bo!!! be wise!
this is not the days when African tribes, clans, towns, houses or even family or individuals traded and interacted on their own. The census is not a game of autonomy in the national/international sphere. Kalabari'bo, Nembe'bo, kolokuma'bo, Apoi'bo, Wakrike'bo you should fill
TRIBE- Ijaw, LANGUAGE- Ijaw, Town- Abonema or Bassambiri or Igbedi or Ogoloma or Oporoza etc. We will answer our father's name when we go back to our tent. Revenue from the national level will be distributed to the local government and towns because the local government data or spot is what is needed for disbursing of revenue *not your various dialects!* The ball is in our court, let us not burst it o'pasisi.

cococandy:
When sick and old in-laws come to love with the family, the expectation is that the wife will be the one to provide care for the sick and old family member. So your wife should have the final say on who’s coming for extended say in my opinion.

Because let’s face it, your wife would have been the one to give your mom bed baths, bathroom care etc. now that her mom is coming, she’s still the one who will be expected to do that. Not you.

So it might not be the presence of your mom she didn’t want. She just didn’t want the extra responsibility which invariably falls on her. Before you ask why she can’t treat your mom the way she treats her mom, know that her mom will be willing to die for her but your mom won’t. That’s the difference

You are very correct,
That's why the man who owns the house too should have the final say because they will Iive under his roof and his provision.

Look at your name, cococandy. Girls with such weird names are not for the keeps, they always have weird takes. You see them arguing on Facebook about blessing CEO, Dr Dean Justin and his divorced wife.

@OP,I can only imagine how disappointed your mother must have felt that time!!

His mother died in pains.
A child she nourished, loved unconditionally, stayed awake all night when he was very sick, prayed for him with all her heart, fed him and expected nothing from him in return, but when she needed him most, he abandoned her.
She must have felt dissapointed, sad, lonely till her last breathe.
Only God knows what his poor mother felt prior to her dieng day.

ozalogbo:
I am the first child of my mother, and I have two younger male siblings. I am doing well financially. My wife is the last of four children in her family. My dad died when I was still in the university, and this affected my mum.

However, as she aged, her health waned. She was a retired teacher. My brothers are not in the country. Both of them are in Europe. I wanted to have my mother stay with me in her later years because of her health and loneliness but my wife did not want it.

Whenever she was ill and I brought her home to be with us, my wife was usually hostile, especially if my mum had stayed beyond a week. She did not hid her disapproval, and this caused problems in the marriage. People advised that I should send my mum away and pay someone to live with her and take care of her. They said that marriage was between a man and his wife, not between a man, his wife, and his mother. I did and peace returned. Eventually my mum passed on after a few years.

Along the line, my father in law also died. And down the line, my mother in law's health began to deteriorate. We live in the same town. Among my wife's siblings she is the only one doing quite well. Now there are suggestions that the mother should come and live with us so that my wife can give her proper care. I believe that her living with us and seeing her grandchildren will help her. And indeed i have no problem accepting her, but when i remember the treatment my wife gave to my mum, there is a strong revulsion, in fact, anger in me. I shared with a friend, and he advised i forgive my wife, but the revulsion is so strong that i would feel cheated if i agreed.

What do you guys think. She reminded me then that marriage was between a man and his wife only. Shouldn't this also apply to my wife now?

OP there is a consequence for everything in life.
Look at how everything played.
Fate has brought her own consequence.
Don't hinder it.
She will try to blackmail you emotionally.
Her family will beg etc but stand your ground.
Do not let that woman enter your house, your wife is the last of four in their family. Did she have empathy when your mother had only you in the country??
Now she wants to give her mother special treatment and drag you into it.
If women treated their mother inlaw the wah they treat their own mother's, they'd be no problem.
Oga don't fall for the emotional blackmail. Stand your ground, your poor mother who catered for you when you were little and sick, who displeased herself for you, who loved you unconditionally, who gave you her all was sidelined by a selfish manipulative woman when she needed you most and she eventually died.
OP you can give your little support to her, let the older children take the most responsibility. If your wife sees you're not in to be blackmailed emotionally or manipulated, she will begin to apologise and beg, but still stand your ground because your dear mother is watching you from heaven knowing if you will also disregard her in death.

Op your wife was wrong, but try and understand her fear. Most women feel inconvenient around their mother inlaw. Not because she hates her mother inlaw but for the fear of the unknown.

Let her know how you feel knowing she wanna bring her mum in when she rejected your mum. I'm sure she will feel remorse of her action.

Permit her to bring her mum, cause if anything happen to the old woman, she may accuse you of one thing or the other.
But the husband didn't accuse her when his own mother died in loneliness.

Ofoigbo don't mention me in your stupid thread.
The British can never ever ever tell about the history and culture of a people, such low level of lowness and inferiority complex by you clowns grasping on straws and outdated fallacy. The aminadokiari-kolokuma fishermen who settled at the creeks and imo river lands of Ndoki and made there a fishing settlements had relations with these women to birth the ndokis you know today.
Migrant fishermen are notorious for migrating off to find new settlements and moving with the tides. This is the reason your NNAHMENTV went to Ndoki communities in Rivers and Akwaibom and they gave him the shock of his life by telling you how they came from okoloba kiri a town in Kolokuma.
Sadly these ngwa asa women raised their kids when their fathers left to find Bonny and some settlements in kalabari, however some of them trooped down to look for their fathers.
I already explained this

https://www.nairaland.com/7393389/late-eze-sylvanus-ononankume-vi#117766976

It contains interviews of reputable Kings and chiefs of Ndoki buttressing this fact.

Below is another.

https://www.nairaland.com/6911155/ndokis-say

For the reason that this kids were raised by their Asa mothers who spoke to them the language they speak now doesn't mean they don't know their history (just as the late Ononankume VI said)

I wonder why nairaland always prevent me from posting more of these histories, and how the Brits manipulated things to weaken the Izon city states that stood against their selfishness... Reason why they inatigated the divide and rule by placing the western and some part of central izon into awolowo's western Yoruba region, and dividing the eastern izon and some part of central into the biafran(Eastern region) just to weaken us as purnishment because we were an indipendent and advanced people who resisted British domination (Koko of Nembe, Jaja of Opuboama, abuge edom of Abua, the allied forces of egbema etc. To further hold Nigeria in strings they divided us and kept power far away because they knew the Izon will smell their manipulation and try to cut the strings.
Divide and rule did more harm to us than anyone else. We are in 6 states yet we are minorities in most except Bayelsa and rivers.
Izon is bigger than your baby tribe. Your tribe is a fusion of igala in the north, benin in the west, ibibio in the east and izon in the south. In every community with a river in ala-igbo, izon people discovered. Keep mastub#ting with your stoopideety and keep deceiving yourself. Soon Ndoki will learn Ibani-egere, in the future all those oru-igbo communities in orlu and along the imo river in imo state will unite with their Ijo heritage.
Don't mention me again because I am too busy to engage you all.
Politics / *A Personal Assessment Of The Top 3 Political Candidate* by Alabo7978(m): 2:23pm On Feb 24, 2023
*A personal assessment of the top 3 political candidates*

3 of the candidates claim to be the Messiah capable of pulling the nation out from the quagmire it currently sits in.
A messiah is one who has nothing to lose or gain in his quest to deliver the people he desires to deliver.
A Messiah never forces himself on the people, these aside;
How can we personally access their thoughts, psychological behavior and patriotism to see if they actually meet the standards of a messianic figure?

We would be looking at 3 qualities which can be used to access or judge them.

*Behavior*
*Patriotism*
*Empathy*

Now on the aspect of BEHAVIOR- a man can feign but how long can it be pulled off to fool others? of course never for long. Only those closest to a man can definitely tell or talk about his behavioral tendencies to a large degree,
But on the other hand, aura or energy is something that can be felt through radiations or vibration in your subconscious or spirit being; this the ordinary man not close to the personalities of the 3 can use to roughly describe or tell of their behavioral tendency which can cover uprightness, reaction to criticisms, moral standards and more especially level of desperation.
How upright is your Candidate? How well does he take, or will he take criticisms? In what standard can you place him morally? And more especially what is his level of desperation?
Level of desperation should not be underlooked because it is what can tilt your moral standards to a socially acceptable high or to a filthy descending low.
From the onset of the election saga right from the primary campaign to this day whether we tell it to ourselves, or pretend we haven't seen the spills of the behavioral tendencies of our favorite candidates - We know within ourselves how far each of them are willing to go or what they are willing to do or have done to become the number 1 citizen of the nation. So can we boldly say our preferred candidate is the messiah than can deliver the nation from the jugular of retrogression?
Note! The messiah may not be amongst the top 3, he or she may not even be running, perhaps they might have lost in the primaries; who knows?
If this is the case how high is your candidate in messianic totem on the basis of moral standards and level of desperation?
Is he driven by power, greed? Or the hunger to etch his name in the annals of Nigerian history?

PATRIOTISM perhaps is the greatest of the three. How well does he love the vehicle he wishes to pilot? How well does he love the people he wishes to lead? What can be used to measure his undying love for the nation? What are the things he did or have done for the people that remains evergreen in their hearts or that won their love for him? Is he willing to die for them or kill them?
Is he willing to hold the reins and not desert the ship when it isn't beneficial
How well does he know or feel the suffering of the masses?
Patriotism requires selflessness which is a man with no greed. A man ready to help in whatever way he can even though it isn't beneficial. Every man on Earth is in constant war with the nature of greed within himself, how well or how terrible he chooses to manage it will always reflect on the outside.

EMPATHY is a form of emotional intelligence that is a requirement for everyone but somehow is rare within the human race. How well are you moved by the suffering or condition of the people?
From psychological analysis of your candidate's behavioral tendency and level of patriotism can you agree that he can cry with you in your trying times and seek for ways to solve your problems?
Will he empathize or listen to your plight?
What if the weight of rulership as expected becomes too much on his mind, and he forgets to see the tears in your eyes, and you come out to cry out in the open to gain his attention - will he feel sorry? Will he plead for your forgiveness? Will he address you? Will he order the police to arrest you? Will he order them to shoot at you?
The one who should lead the nation will rightly be patriotic, filled with empathy and with an excellent track record of a fairly decent moral standard; one who has nothing to lose if the results don't go his way.

Ijaw keep claiming the word Oru but yet they have no tangible explanation as regards the term Oru.

Let me tell you what I think. I think the Orus were actually Riverine Igbos that were in existence from the beginning of the Igbo race. Oru is more evenly spread and established across Igbo society that in Ijaw society. Oru appears a foreign concept in ijaw origin.

The Oru would be joined by the Ijaw people in a migration much later, and over generations the two became thoroughly mixed. Hence, Ijaw superimposed or more probably eroded the practices of the riverine Oru Igbos they came upon, leaving only the name Oru as survivor from that era, and from then the ijaw we know today continued in existence.

That is my explanation of Oru's awkward existence in Ijaw today.

Shame should be your last name, when real men of real races are rearing their heads as men, black men will also raise their hands.

You are all nothing but prostitutes for hire, your in-laws hate you, her father hates you, everybody wonders why she married a black man all because of sex.

You can’t even assert yourselves in such relationships as a man, she shouts at you and you’re quiet because if she so much as whimpers, you are a goner. You call yourself a man?

There nothing a foreigner wants from a black man except their genitals and it is evident, you aren’t wanted for what you can offer as a man, you are wanted for your body parts just like women.

You aren’t even ashamed of yourself and your race of men. THE ONLY SET OF MEN IN THE WORLD Being collected by foreign women because of your ‘huge genitals’.

black men are gold,, they're hardworking.... EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES. WHY WILL MOST RACES PICK EVERYONE OVER A BLACK PERSON? Not because of some flimsy talk. It’s because we’re the least attractive.

Blackmen are also at the bottom of the dating ladder, why are black men at the bottom of the dating ladder?

Because black people are the least attractive in the world. The only difference between black men and women is that men have the ability to choose. Change your gender now and no one will be picking you for marriage. You can try to deceive yourself but the truth is plain and obvious.

Its all about looks. Most Men don’t care what a woman has to offer or does or cares about. This preference for lighter skin and prettier hair has made black American women bitter, trying to buy men with gifts for themselves because they are the least desired even by men of their own race.

The whole world knows black men are ashamed of how their women look and wish they could have lighter women with real pretty hair from other races.

Men in Africa complain that girls are too dependent, that white girls are independent and can pay their way.

Black men in America complain that black women are too independent and arrogant, white women are better and let men lead. Meanwhile when they get into a relationship with a white woman, they behave subservient.

Even gay black men prefer white men!

The End.

you don't know what you're saying...
black men are the most desired men in America, Asia, Eastern Europe.

Even married Europeans secretly lie to their husbands they're coming on a group tour in Africa but they're coming to have a taste of the black Gene.
Many of them carry these men abroad and change their lives forever.
The black love is so infectious that you'd see these white women learning indigeneous african languages, cuisines, dance steps, dresses. be decieving yourself here on nairaland.
Go to hotels all over the country and you'd see Asians, Americans, Europeans, Canadians all over who came to visit their Nigerian lovers.
it is only Latinos and Arabs that prefer white Americans and their fellow Arabs respectively..

Bitter black women are bitter because Black men prefer the women of their white counterparts.
That's because the black women are drama queens like their Nigerian sisters here.
The system wasn't meant for them hence they can't live without exploiting it. That's why you see alot of black single mothers getting child support for their 5kids from 5 different men while they do nothing other than jumping from one D to another, buying PS5 and new Jordans for their new boyfriend with money from their old boyfriends(child support) and getting their heart broken and getting angrier and angrier.

marrying is a stupid decision any man should take because there is no benefit in it at all.
You can still continue your family line without marrying, less stress, less palava, no drama.

but if you must marry, do it the traditional way(you know what I mean)

BECOMING A PAN-IJAWIST

The Ijaw people are arguably the most ancient people in Western africa and one of the most ancient people in Africa.
Research has shown that the Ijoid language (s) are a distinct branch of the Niger-congo and the third oldest in that language tree.
It has remained largely unadulterated compared to other languages and their various language tree in Africa.

The Ijaw people who majorly dwell today in the Niger-delta region of Nigeria engaged in trade and plied the river banks.
It is a well known fact that wherever there is a water head way, an Ijaw navigator isn't far off. This has prompted many Ijaws to migrate along rivers, streams and creek paths to establish settlements, communities, kingdoms and city-states; most of which stood the test of time, few of which were lost into neighboring tribes. Few examples of Ijaw people overwhelmed into neighboring tribes are the notable Waminadokiari, Oguta, Egbema (in imo and rivers) and the Popularly called Oru-igbo communities in the hinterlands.
However an Ijoid migratory batch (BILLECHI) are reported to have kept to their language even though their culture and ways has absolved a little of their closest neighbors.

The Kolokuma-Ijaw variation or dialect is regarded as the most ancient and unadulterated of the IZONIC dialect(s) and due to trading and migration- so many IZONIC clans and settlements absolve a few lingua element into their dialect, making it slightly distinct.
To become a *PAN-IJAWIST* requires a little bit of commitment, passion and love for the culture.
A pan ijawist must
* Travel and identity with other ijaw brethren in their various clans
* A pan ijawist must endeavor to circulate opportunity and wealth between his fellow ijaw from the West to East.
*A pan Ijawist must endeavor to learn a few words in each of the ijonic clans.

If we all become PAN-IJAWIST we will grow with each other, learn to mix our dialects for better understanding... For instance the Nembe people say "áyibá nua" meaning thank God of weldone God.
A pan Ijawist from the Nembe clan can for the sake of Ijaw unity say "Aziba-Nua" "Nanaowei nua" or "Tamara-nua"

Learning a few words from every sister kingdoms and clan and knowing when or how to mix them when in the gathering of all Ijaws from Apoi to the Eastern fringes of even Ibeno will bring about unity and togetherness.

*Be a PAN-IJAWIST today!*

Now note the sentence that goes thus

The first missions to be established in Ibo country were the C.M.S at Onitsha in 1856 and Bishop Crowther's at Bonny in 1864.

As you can glean from the above sentence, Bonny was clearly considered an Igbo territory by neutral observers back in the days, before landgrabbers started implementing their evil designs.

Shut ur own smelly mouth ....y was he disastrous for Argentina but xavi and iniesta were powering the Spanish national team...if not for those players , Messi will just b an upgrade modric
Disastrous for Argentina??
He is Argentina all time goal scorer
In 2014 WC where he won the golden ball, he was Argentina highest scorer, 4goals,
Argentina highest assist 3
Highest chance creation
Highest key passes.
Same with the recent Copa America Argentina won.. he won golden boot and won golden ball and won highest assist.
And you call it disastrous
Xavi left Barca in 2015
Iniesta in 2017
From 2018 Messi won 3 more world best awards without xavi and iniesta
Won a series of league titles
Won over 5golden boots
Became la Liga top assist 3 times
But you call it disastrous
Your brain is leaking breast milk.

the fact remains messi has the highest assist in Laliga histroy more than Xavi and Inesita,

Which means he creates for the team rather than the dumb insinuation that the team plays for him.
Ronaldo fan boys are too dumb to reason logically.
True.
I rate your IQ level by which side you weigh on in the Messi and CR7 debate.

if you say Messi, I know you're intelligent and your sense of reasoning is 3D
If you say CR7 ..lol.

Thanks to the great men of xavi and iniesta... with only KDB which we know as V6 backing halland...imagine if he had two V8 engines in iniesta and xavi...he will surpass 100 goals ... if u can score 30 goals in the EPL , y can score almost double of that in la liga... since he joined farmers league, he packed up...even suarez did 40 goals in barca...Lewandowski already on 11 goals in 9 games at age 34 with that push and start barca team

Besides stop lying...messi dint do 91 for barca ...it was for club and Country
Shut up.. you know nothing.
Xavi and iniesta wasn't known for assists, just chance creation and creativity.
If Barca had a de bruyne or even Ozil Messi would have had 150 in that year.
Xavi and iniesta in a season combined on an average didn't provide 20-25 assists for Messi.
