I have read lots of comments, interviews, and opinions about this so-called Biafra stuff from the sublime to the most absurd. Yet none has been able to define or identify the territory called Biafra.

Some have made allusion to the Bight of Biafra now Bonny as the state of Biafra.
To clarify on the geographical location of Bight of Biafra, also called Bight of Bonny, it is a bay of the Atlantic Ocean on the western coast of Africa, extending east, then south, 370 miles (600 km) from the Nun outlet of the Niger River (Nigeria) to Cape Lopez (Gabon). Within the Bight of Biafra
are several islands, the largest of which is Bioko, belonging to Equatorial Guinea. Major ports on the bay are Malabo (on Bioko), Port Harcourt and Calabar (Nigeria), Douala (Cameroon), Bata (Equatorial Guinea), Libreville and Port-Gentil (Gabon). Is there any Igbo tribes or natives indigenous to this bay?

Secondly. what are actually the grievances of the this haughty, permanently ignorant and deluded sterile Biafra agitators? There are so many discordant and confusing tunes; from President Buhari`s appointments, lack of infrastructural and physical development in the Southeast , freedom and citizenship. The Southeast has been 90% PDP since 1999 with over 50% of senior political appointments zoned to this region. Never in our history has any region, produced the SGF, Minister of Finances, CBN Governor, Head of the Army, Head of the Police council, Deputy Senate President, Deputy Speaker etc. Why have the Southeast PDP Governors not been able to develop Igbo states since 1999?

Since 1999 most states in Nigeria have embarked on several projects including construction of federal roads, state airports and deep sea ports. What prevented Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi from doing what Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo,Jigawa , Osun , Lagos, Oyo are doing? The bottom line is that, these agitations are sponsored because a few misguided Igbo politicians feel they have lost power, political relevance and they simply lack the ingenuity, discipline and capacity to organise any political comeback in the next decades but for APC.

I am from Nwangele in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo state. This happened just yesterday as I visited my village for the first time in the past 3yrs. But lo and behold this was exactly what I faced. I asked my mom but she said that this has been like this for the past 2yrs, and that the road has been completely grown with weed because the make-shift bridge on it has collapsed due to neglect. Please mods, help me place this on the frontpage to enable the Imo State government to see this and come to our rescue. My community Nwangele has been cut off, are we not part of Imo state again?

After listening to Nnamdi Kanu dissect the usual Pan Africanist garbage spewed by a "Bini man" on live radio Biafra broadcast yesterday, I concluded that without a doubt Kanu is the most intelligent Biafran I know.

The finest point he made during his rebuttal argument was when he spoke about "National consciousness". He stated that ordinary people in Biafra brave all the odds to rise up to support Biafra. They pay his travel and hotel bills, and bear the costs of radio Biafra. Why and how could that be if not that the Biafran people are conscious of the need for the struggle?

How many Nigerians have spent a PERSONAL dime to support Nigeria? Is not all Nigerians after "national cake", in an Obasanjo "come and eat" mindset?

How many Nigerians are conscious of Nigeria? Biafrans irrespective of "tribe" and language ALWAYS sacrifice for Biafra. How many Nigerians sacrifice for Nigeria?

You cannot be conscious of what is unreal. You are only conscious -as a human being with brains- only of what is real.

If you are not conscious of a Nigeria, how can you be conscious of a huge Africa with even more disparate cultures and peoples?

He then posited that what Africa needs is NOT Pan Africanism, but a success story; a model African success story that other African countries can copy to create successful countries. He gave the example of Japan and other Asian countries.

Finally on Pan Africanism, he then gave the EU example. The EU is made up of democratic liberal CHRISTIAN countries. Turkey's membership application was turned down because Turkey is a Muslim country. But regardless all that, the UK are still debating whether to stay or leave!

That debate is happening because the English don't want to be controlled by the Germans (and to some extent the French).

So how can a reasonable person champion some pie-in-the-sky hubris called "Pan Africanism"?

A former Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, has denied the allegation by the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, that the Goodluck Jonathan-administration paid the sum of N140bn to consultants for the construction of the Second Niger Bridge.

Onolememen, who made the denial in a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Tony Ikpasaja, made available toThe PUNCH on Thursday, accused the governor of misleading Nigerians with “wild and spurious” allegations.

The statement noted that the Second Niger Bridge was a Public Private Partnership project being executed on the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer model at the cost of N108bn and that only N10bn, out of the refundable N30bn funding from Federal Government, was paid through the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme.

The statement reads, “The Federal Government of Nigeria, guided by the Transaction Adviser, Roughton International, agreed to provide a refundable Catalytic Funding of N30bn. By May 2015, N10bn Catalytic Funding was paid from the Federal Ministry of Works’ SURE-P Budget to fast-track the early and sub-structural works of the bridge. This implies that the successful concessionaire, JB-NSIA Consortium, has responsibility for the design, finance and construction of the project, as well as its operation.

“The total project cost is N108bn (excluding duties and Value Added Tax) with a completion period of about 48 months. This cost was arrived at, after BPP’s (Bureau of Public Procurement) review of the concessionaire’s submitted cost of N138bn.”

“The bridge located at about 2km downstream the existing Niger Bridge in Onitsha, has recorded impressive progress. One wonders therefore, the intentions of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in deliberately misinforming Nigerians on the true status of the 2nd Niger Bridge.”
