I thought they said "...difficult is the way which leads to life" (Matthew 7:14 - NKJV). Apparently it has been rehabilitated by some. Let's just hope it still leads to heaven sha. ![]() |

hmm... @ the time when Muslim Jihadists are beheading people in a bid to create an Islamic utopia. Is this the case of bad timing or is this just a sorry attempt at deflecting the issues at hand. |

paxonel: what I'm saying is, certain Jewish laws such as circumcision, tithe, dietary law, feast, Sabbath, etc should not be enforced.they are optional. if you like keep them,if you like ignore them, if you ignore them God is not offended. nobody will slap youYou seem to misunderstand me. I am trying to show why some OT laws are valid and why some are not. |
paxonel: stoning the adulterous woman is enforcement of the part of the 10 commandments which says thou shall not commit adultery. It is not enforcement of any Jewish law or circumcision or tithe so what are you talking ?Is the 10 commandment not part of the laws of Moses? |
A quick exposition on Jesus and the Law. Note the bolded Matthew 5 17 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. It is obvious that Jesus was telling his immediate listeners (the Jews) to obey every single, minuscule part of the law which will include stoning to death insolent children. Yes you heard me right. Jesus said about as much in Matt. 15:4 (see Exodus 21:17). Haven't you ever wondered why Jesus did not just tell the accusers of that adulterer (prostitute?) that stoning her to death was evil? But instead Jesus had to appeal to the fact that everyone was sinful and needed salvation? That is because the law, according to the Bible is righteous and yes that includes stoning an adulterous woman to death but this presupposes and already sinless society. So stoning offenders to death was a way to preserve purity in God's society. However at the time of Jesus (well, right from Eden to be fair), mankind and the Jewish society in particular has so fallen from grace that all deserved the death penalty, (Rom 6:23) that all needed redemption from death. Now back to Matt 5. Jesus did not say he had fulfilled the law, but that he has come to fulfill the law. Now according to Christian beliefs, Jesus will come back the second time during rapture so Jesus couldn't have been talking about his second coming but rather he was talking about his first coming. So how did Jesus fulfill the law? Well by the way he lived and by his death! So therefore after Calvary, Christ has fulfilled the requirements of the law! (Rom 10:4) This is the reason why Christians don't, have to stone insolent children or worry about wearing clothes made from different materials. However there seems to be certain laws from the old testament that are binding to Christians today but many more laws that are not. So how do Christians know which laws are binding and which are not? This will be the focus on my next post. Note I am an atheist so feel free to ignore ![]() |

The seeming disregard for the lives of innocent Palestinian children on this thread is sicking. Now I'm going to swallow a pack of Scrabble tiles and whatever I excrete will make for more pleasant reading. |

Djtm: That's because they can get it done cheaply elsewhere. But don't you think that does who are ready to accept very low price for a project are shooting themselves in the long run? Because when they want to step up their game, so to speak, they would also find it difficult to negotiate decent fees for projects due to others who can do it cheaply. |
See how people full this thread. Na wa o! |
This thread is created to address the lack of value clients have towards web design/development projects. For example a NLer complained that a client asked him to develop a web site for music downloads which can also accept payments all for 10k! 10K! Seriously! The average cost of a web site in US, based on my research, is $1000 i.e N170,000. Even if we consider the difference in the economic strength of Nigeria and the US, at least the average cost of a website should be N80,000. In fact based on the requirements of the aforementioned music site, the project should cost at least N120,000. I have been involved in web development for 4 years now and even I struggle with this. Please I would like to hear your ideas, and experiences. |
Impressive. Although, as mentioned above, the fonts and colours could be better. |

VisaOfficer: Definitely a scam and I am so, so glad you recognized it as such. I would be very happy if you shared Mr. Joel Olaniyi's contact information with us at LagosIV@state.gov so that we could arrange to have a productive and educational conversation with the gentleman. No probs. |
Good evening VO. I have a concern I want to share with you. I received a call from someone who claims to work for the agency from which I applied for the DV 2014 visa lottery. He told me that I am one of the 7 lucky winners of the visa lottery before he sent me a text containing the contact details of one Mr. Joel Olaniyi, a 'Recruitment Officer' for the American Embassy in Carrintgton, Apapa. However, I decided to check the status of the visa lottery (I had almost forgotten about it at that time) online to see if I had truly won. I found the lottery printout, followed all instructions, and found out that my entry had not been selected. So I decided to call the Mr. Olaniyi just to hear what they had to say. What I gathered from the call has almost made me to be convinced that this is a scam. First of all, he said I would have to come to Apapa today but when I said wont be able to make it to Apapa in such a short time (the call was made by 3 PM) that I will come tomorrow, he told me i must first buy a form from somewhere in VI for N20000. Secondly, when I told him that I do not have that kind of money now, he told me that I can pay in installments. Finally, he told me that I do not need to go to VI if I can pay the first installment immediately so that he can tell his people in VI to bring the form to Apapa. I don't know much about the processing of the visa lottery so I want to ask if this is the process or if this is a scam. Remember that from the official site (https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/), my entry was not selected. Thank you in advance. |
Helghast: The picture says it all.Yes, I agree Hamas needs to be rooted out before there can be any progress. However, I believe Israel can do better to avoid civilian casualties; they are just not doing enough! |

Empiree: what do you expect from so called " chosen people". The same kind of crimes they committed leading to their banishment from Holy Land. And we still have some fools here supporting them. UN is a waste anyway. if it had been other 3rd world country, sanctions would be raining like missiles. The sad thin is that the IDF knew that there were civilians in that school and still shelled it! |
United Nations officials described the killing of sleeping children as a disgrace to the world and accused Israel of a serious violation of international law after a school in Gaza being used to shelter Palestinian families was shelled on Wednesday. At least 15 people, mostly children and women, died when the school in Jabaliya refugee camp was hit by five shells during a night of relentless bombardment across Gaza. More than 100 people were injured. Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary general, said the attack was "outrageous and unjustifiable" and demanded "accountability and justice". The UN said its officials had repeatedly given details of the school and its refugee population to Israel. bolaino: First and foremost, I want to let you and other atheists who might participate on this thread that I have the utmost regard for atheists as I myself used to be one, I see atheism as the first step towards spiritual enlightenment and Freedom, it's because of your love for equality, rational judgement, and love for your fellow man, that's why you're an atheist, and I respect those traits in you, I do not disagree with you, Religion is nothing but propaganda and a tool used by politicians to control the masses, Religion is a political tool nothing more nothing less, it's easier to control people who believe in the same religion, than to control people of varying religions, hence the need for Religionists to seek for more converts, God exists not because Religion says He/she does, but because the world is too full of amazing things for these things to have come by chance or randomness, there is no random thing in this world, the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and persians practiced all sorts of magic and they witnessed strange things happen, how did they get these powers? If not from God, God is not about christian or muslim, God does not have a religion, God is not a politician, God is the creator of life and the creator of everything you see on earth, there is no one way to serving God, God knows the hearts of men, because we are his creatures, and we are part of him, we have soul, and soul is what makes us living, and that soul is from God, soul is soul irrespective of race or gender, and soul reaps what it sows in this plane of existence, the universe is balanced, and that's what karma and dharma does, they balance the system of the universes, how do you know that the world is balanced? Take the crop cycle for example, everything goes through the soil, back to the atmosphere, back to the soil, etc, if you look around your ecosystem you'll see that balance in the ecosystem, it's an unending cycle, that's how life is, when we re-incarnate we complete these cycles. God is divine consciousness, And God is also personal, as he judges soul according to it's actions. So which God do you believe in? |
