“If you are pregnant and plan to travel on Emirates once you have entered your 29th week of pregnancy, a medical certificate or letter signed by an appropriately qualified doctor or midwife is required, stating:

the confirmation of a singleton or multiple pregnancy
the pregnancy is progressing without complications
the estimated date of delivery
that you are in good health
that there is no reason known to them that would prevent you from flying

Please note that if you choose not to carry a medical certificate, you may not be accepted for travel if there is any doubt about your ability to complete the journey safely.”

Plz, this is not US related at this time but I believe I ll get the right info here.

I’m traveling for official purpose and I ll be using emirate. I will just be entering the third trimester by then and I ll be gone for 14 days. Please do I need a drs report? And what type does emirate accept? Anyone with useful info plz

Hey, Nice one. Please did you send the change of intent email?

Adedoyin2108:
Hello house
Got my visa in Nov 2017 and I’m currently on my second missionary journey. Travelled at 34 weeks on Emirates with my 18 month old. Fit to fly was requested by the airline before boarding. Flight was loooooong, had swollen legs and nausea when we landed at JFK so I requested for the wheelchair. Did the self check in and printed the slip before proceeding to the counter. The wheelchair queue was much faster.

CBP: Passports
Me: Hands them over
CBP: How long will you be staying
Me: 10 weeks
CBP: Why so long?
Me: I’m here to have my baby
CBP: What did you pay for this baby? (My 18 month old)
Me: About 8k
CBP: How much do you have now?
Me: 2400 cash, 10k in my cards
CBP: Stamps me in for 6 months

Best POE experience ever. I’ve come in through Houston twice, was sent to secondary inspection both times.

I stayed in New York for a few days and went by road to Maryland. I’m scheduled to use University of Maryland St Joseph hospital in Towson.

Hello, I sent you an email. Please I need details of the doctor and hospital you used in MD.
Thanks

semilore12:
okay...so for those still looking for recent IAD POE experience...

Arrived Washington Dulles with my toddler via qatar airways. Flight was good...i had a whole row to myself on both legs so we pitched our tent there and my girl was able to sleep well. Please ensure to process ur medif as mentioned. In IAD, very very long queue...i used the express passport and within minutes was done and on my way out. I was surprised that no question was asked and while still wondering if what just happened was real, I heard an officer call madam from the back.
I turned and he asked how I got in, I told him his fellow just stamped me in, he brought me back to his desk. Another officer came and asked him why he called me back, he said he just got an info about me (in my mind i was like God pass una).
he checked my daughter's passport, gave it back to me and dropped mine in a red box. he handed over to me and sent me elsewhere....ur guess as good as mine. Almighty secondary...

The truth is I honestly don't know where the confidence came from, but I wasn't scared one bit. My toddler was running around and I kept chasing her with my big belle. After about 30mins, I was called.
CBP- how are you madam
Me - fine thanks and u
CBP - fine. how much did you pay for your daughter's delivery
Me - about 3200
CBP - no delivery in the US can be that cheap
Me - well, there is. I signed a self pay package that offers that amount if payment is made before discharge.
CBP - which hospital
Me - John H Stroger.
CBP - but you told someone in your flight that you gave birth for free
Me - Not at all, I even had a row to myself on both legs of the trip so I never discussed anything with anyone.
CBP - Why are you no longer using same hospital
Me - My host is on holiday
CBP - Which hospital will you be using now
Me - HC
CBP - Do you have a doctor
Me - Yes
CBP - How much do you have
Me - $$ and I have also paid my doctors fee in full
CBP - can I see the receipt
Me - oh sure, gave him
CBP - now come with me, we need to count the money
Me - (I followed to another room where he counted the money )
CBP - Make sure you take all your receipts with you on subsequent visits.
Me - okay. Thank you.

That was how I left the place to meet my host who was already waiting even before arrival of the plane. Bags not checked at all and that was it.

ayenikunle:

You will be deported @ the POE.

It's better you apply for a new visa, stating your present intention.

Hello, I wasn’t deported. Sending this from the other side. Gather your facts right and don’t be too rigid in your responses. Thanks anyways.

Hi everyone...in the spirit of giving back.
I arrived LAX via BA a few days ago (April 30). The journey was smooth, 3hrs layover in LHR, good food and all.
My POE was so nice, no hassle.

Transcript:
CBP: Hi, welcome to LAX
Me: Hello, thanks
CBP: What are you here for?
Me: Visit and child birth
CBP: Really? Are you pregnant?
Me: Yes.
CBP: Do you have an idea of the cost of childbirth in LA?
Me: Yes. I have the fees from a hospital and also have doctor’s correspondence. (I showed him printed copies of both)
CBP: How much do you have?
Me: $*** cash and some sums (didn't mention specifics) in my cards.
CBP: Good. Did you inform the embassy about your intention?
Me: Yes I did and here is the email, showing my notification and the response. (Gave him a printed copy of the email)
CBP: Hmm...very good. How long are you here for?
Me: about 9weeks, approx 10weeks.
CBP: Good. As he was stamping my passport he said, enjoy your stay. Have a safe delivery and make sure you keep all your receipts of payment.

N/B 1. He didn't request to see or count the cash, doesn't give you room to tell lies o.
2. Print all relevant documents. It doesn't appear professional to use your phone.
3. Honesty is key. When you're honest the confidence activates by default.
*My luggage wasn't searched for food items.
I thank God for journey mercies and believing him for a safe delivery. I also wish everyone safe and successful trip, and delivery.

Hello, I'm a newbie here. I have a B1/B2 visa that was just renewed recently for the second time. The first was issued sometime in 2014 but wasn't used and I renewed it in 2016 because I planned to travel. However I couldn't use it because of office policy (asper no vacation/leave double promotion). So now I intend to use it for child birth. What kind of questions should I expect at the POE. Note: It's my first time of travelling to the U.S.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by alexandramylee: 6:09pm On Apr 10, 2018
Answer to your questions:
1. Yes, however you must be back atleast a day before the expiry date. Excerpts from the U.S visa in Nigeria website"Visitors traveling to the U.S. are required to be in possession of passports that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay in the U.S. Citizens of the countries listed on Six Month Club Update are exempt to the six-month rule and need only have a passport valid for their intended period of stay. http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-visawaiverinfo.asp#Requirements "
Nigeria is one of the countries exempted from the six-month rule.

2. I guess the response above answers this question. Generally, I will advise you apply for a new passport if you are not certain you'll be back before the current passport expires.
Kween2014:
Hello People,
Please I have a few questions, forgive my ignorance;

I currently have a B1/B2 visa expiring in June and I intend to renew via drop-box. However, my passport expires Jan 2019 and my planned trip is in October and I may not be back before the passport expires.

1. Giving the current trend of ‘no passport booklet’, can I travel with my old passport in October even if I have started the process of passport renewal? Just incase it is not ready before I intend to travel. Is this allowed?

2. If yes to my first question, what happens if my passport expires while I am still in the US? And I still haven’t received the new passport.

Thank you.

Amen. Congratulations!
Anchola:
Hello NL, here's my story So far...

I got a B1/B2 visa in 2015, was asked if I was pregnant then, responded no. used it sometime in 2016. became preggy after the trip so we started planning on coming here to deliver.

Got most of my info from NL, gathered all my documents...doctor's correspondence, appointment letter, change of intent letter and their generic response, bank statement, medical records, fit to fly and cash.

Booked VA to New York, 6 hours to Heathrow, 2 hours stop over, 7 hours to JFK. The flight was a comfortable one although entertainment wasn't impressive.

Landed at JFK at about past 11pm. My POE story is almost non-existent, except for the fact that the place was crowded like Oshodi and I had to queue for almost 2 hours, just because I declared food! But we know that God works in mysterious ways...
Meanwhile I had brought out my envelope of properly arranged and labelled burden of proof.

CBP: Hello
Me: Hello....I handed over my passport
CBP: Oh I can see youre holding something, *points at my envelope*....
Me: Yes, my documents. *he didn't ask to see it*
CBP: I can see you have the declaration card, May I see it?
Me: I didn't know it was meant to be filled so I just used the self-service machine.
CBP: what food did you declare?
Me: Nuts and herbs.
CBP: ok....*says nothing else, stamps my passport(6 months) and said bye*
Me: thank you very much!
I went straight for my bags!

It was a good thing that I went prepared but I'm elated I didn't have to go through any 'rigourous' interrogation.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed on this platform.

My missionary journey contines and it will surely end in praise.

Really? Wow! that's sad @The cases aren't rare these days oh!...thanks for the info. Though mine was renewed exactly a month ago (March) via dropbox and i wasn't invited.
OmoBendel24:

The cases aren't rare these days oh! Whether renewing before visa expires or after, as long as previous visa was used for birthing (this seems to be the latest trigger), just expect a likely invite for interview.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by alexandramylee: 10:32am On Apr 09, 2018
I can give give you first hand info because I speak from experience. I renewed my US visa a month before it expired through dropbox and I wasn't invited for interview. My Visa was renewed and I only received an email of it's readiness. It's only in very rare cases that you might be invited for an interview, but that's not usually the case.
Dy2005:
Hello every1..... pls I need more info on dropbox renewal ,please is it true that when u renew before your visa expire you will be called for interview .visa renewal that my sister had a chat with told her that dropbox is strictly for expired visa, that if you want to renew via drop box before expiration u will be called for interview, hubby n i visa will expire june 2nd wk and traveling july ending or aug for vac ,,,,

Please need more clarification biko, also if you have renewed 3-2mnths before expiration and no interview ?
