My Girl Friend is Decent to the best of my knowledge and I believe Flora Shaw was a decent woman too

So it October First as usual in Nigeria, and this year had been one awkward year and the Imagine if Spirit had been dancing so much on our collective heads lately. So Nigerians got no joy, suicide is high, poverty is on the rise, corruption is still very high insecurity is on the rise, our international image is getting messier and there is no clear cut solution on sight. Usually on October first our historic independence day, it used to be a day of a very high spirit, a day of pride, and a day of matching to the green and white flag as we sing to the glory of our fatherland.

This year was nothing of a high spirit for me, in fact I was so indifference, I decided to just stay indoors instead of going out for the celebration because I had gotten tired of going out to listen to frustrated Nigerians give their horrible accounts of Nigeria on how Nigeria had faired since amalgamation by Lord Lugard in 1914 as the story keeps getting worse every year.

As I was in my room staring aimlessly at the ceiling, my phone rang, it was my girlfriend calling, after the normal greetings she said, “did you read the president’s Independence speech”, I answered NO, she said, “it was so boring and I was like imagine if you were the one that wrote it, it could have been much better”, I didn’t give it much thought at then and I said “babe, thank you so much for believing in me, I wish I could really have such opportunity to write on such remarkable occasions”, after some more talks, the call was terminated and I went back to staring at my ceiling, along the line I fell asleep.

When I woke, I thought about what she said and one phrase was so familiar in her statement that phrase is “imagine if”. Nigerians had on many occasions used the phrase to give excuses to almost everything that ever happened in the country and I began to wonder if the phrase is a spirit tormenting the country since independence. I decided to look more into that phrase and I discovered that even when Nigerians are not using the exact same phrase as an excuse they do use its synonyms.

Example of times when Nigerians had to resort to their Imagine if Spirit in excuse to crucial matters.

The recent Xenophobia in South Africa: So many Nigerians including high profile individuals had to look up to the Imagine if Spirit with statements like, imagine if it was during the time of Abacha.

Other popular imagine ifs can be seen in statements like:

Imagine if Lord Lugard never amalgamated Northern and Southern Nigeria.
Imagine if Former president Yaradua did not die in office.
Imagine if Abiola’s election was not annulled.
Imagine if we have Biafra (Mostly among Igbos).
Imagine if we have true Federalism and resource control (Mostly Southern Nigeria).
Imagine if there is no corruption in Nigeria.
Imagine if it was when Super Eagles were still Super Eagles (Now They are Super Sparrow Abi)
Imagine if it was when Naira was still Naira (You fit buy Car with N500, Not sure of Benz Though)
Imagine if it was when Nigeria was still the giant of Africa (When the world still dey respect us).
Imagine if there is no tribalism in Nigeria (We for be like America)
The truth still remains that a country is never built on the basis of imaginations, How come this Imagine if Spirit never worked on other countries because Two of America’s great Presidents John F Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln were assassinated but America never said Imagine if they were not assassinated. The USSR was split but Russia never said imagine if we were never split. China has an explosive population but China never said imagine if we were just two hundred million people. Japan suffered two atomic bombs during second world war but never for once did Japan say imagine if we weren’t bombed. These go on to show that countries are built on the basis of proactive measures by both leaders and the general citizens not on mere imaginations, excuses and wishes.

I am not saying that some avoidable mistakes that have ruined the country are not worth wishing away, but while we spend more time wishing away, things are getting worse and a better way out is not at sight, so let’s all imagine less and do more maybe one day we can have the Nigeria of our imagination.

Mosquitoes are one of a kind creatures that we love to hate, but does these special animal deserve our deep hatred. Mosquitoes Do Not Deserve the Hate; we are so consumed by the hate we have for mosquitoes that we never cared about what a magnificent creature it is, poor mosquitoes had just always not been in human favour no matter how much respect they have for humans. We owe mosquitoes apologies for deliberately giving them untimely death and wishing their species will just disappear.

Even these animal right activist, do they ever care that these mosquitoes have a right to life too, often we hear about how these people fight to protect other animals in the name of endangered species but these same people deliberately endanger the mosquitoes. When the biggest people in the world talk about the fight against the mosquitoes, one will wonder if the mosquitoes are in a world war with humans.

The truth is that Mosquitoes are a peace-loving animal with no deliberate intention to harm anyone, of all the species of mosquitoes only the females of one particular species, transmit malaria, the malaria-carrying mosquitoes do not deliberately transmit these malaria parasites, in fact, these mosquitoes are just victims of an ecological coincidence. We had managed to live with other creatures that deliberately manufacture their offensive poisons and use it against both humans and other creatures but we can’t for once try to understand the unfortunate and defenceless mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes did not choose our blood as food, nature chose it for the mosquitoes, most other creatures deliberately try to disable their prey, attack it or kill it before feeding on them but mosquitoes patiently wait for us to sleep before feeding on our blood, mosquitoes love us, mosquitoes see us as their blood farms, they prefer us to blossom and stay alive because mosquitoes can not feed on dead humans with congealed blood why can’t we see that these mosquitoes want us to stay alive too.

In the end, the hate is just that deep but even though no one will ever speak up for the unfortunate mosquitoes we ought to let them know that we understand how much they respect us and love us, mosquitoes had been most unfortunate to be a transmitter of one of the world most deadly killer the malaria parasite but we need to understand that even at that, mosquitoes are victims here and these mosquitoes had paid more than enough with their own blood. These beautiful creatures do not deserve the hate, The Mosquitoes Do not Deserve the Hate.

I have same issue, though I had been seeing a doctor, like two years back but I just got tired I think I'm having issue with excess Uric acid, likely due to my Kidneys failure to digest animal protien, I'm supposed to be taking Aluporinol but due to I can't afford real time follow up treatment I can't get to take the drug, you see excess Uric acid could cuase joint pain also known as gouty athritis, one effect of excess Uric acid is joint pain, depression and sleeplessness, please do contact me, I would want to get help too and my life's a living hell already, with struggle to sleep and pains all over my body it just feels really bad

What i dont understand is, why Achebe is using parables borrowed from foreign land to warn and discourage his kins going to foreign land.

How could Ibo and this dike know what sea or mountain is when you have neither in your land? So why would the words of Dike have effect when the people it addresses are not a people of sea or mountain?

I would want you to understand that in reality, Igbo Land have mountain as for the sea, no community had a sea, you can have a shore, every community can have access to the sea if they so desires but Chinua Achebe is a modern Igbo man so giving him more exposure

There's no negative effect if you have no problem with sucking up milk that tastes like poor man cowbell, near tasteless, for the health implications, you will likely not get an infection by sucking or taking the milk, as an adult, your immune system is strong, the mouth is not hospitable for most virus and bacterial, any other health risk you could get from sucking breast you could have gotten from having sex and kissing your wife so it is absolutely safe only that it could be a bit disgusting taking a near blank taste breast milk, unless you will have to lace your wife's boobs with honey, don't think It taste cool, really taste funny, buh who knows you might find the taste great
