Mexense:
Buhari is a real leader.
I bet he didn't bother to hear their differences.

Under jonathan, This meeting woulda gone on till the wee hours of tomorrow.

Al the same, if I were femi (ahum)Gbajaabiala and I had any jot of morals left in me I'd drop this contest. This is a clear case of 'the sins of yesterday catching up with him'.

That's so true about Gbajabiamila.
Politics / NASS Crisis: Meeting Between Buhari, APC Members Ends In Deadlock by Alexisu: 10:25pm On Jul 27, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari held a meeting with the speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and other All Progressive Congress (APC) members in the House, on Monday, July 27.

The meeting reportedly ended in deadlock.

According to Daily Trust report, the meeting which held at the new banquet hall of the Aso Rock presidential villa lasted for only 20 minutes.

The meeting was said to have started at 5.40p.m. and ended at 6p.m.

In attendance were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, national deputy chairman (South West) Segun Oni and the spokesman of the party, Lai Mohammed.

Dogara and Femi Gbajabiamila led members of their factions to the meeting which was held to resolve the ongoing crisis over leadership in the lower chamber of the National assembly.

According to Punch report, the meeting failed to resolve the crisis as the two factions in the House stuck to their different positions.

Gbajabiamila said: “We are still talking and this is the first time that the two camps will be sitting together as one family in an atmosphere of camaraderie.”

The national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, said the party would have a good news for the nation by tomorrow.

One of the members who attended the meeting told Premium Times that Buhari ordered the warring lawmakers to resolve all pending ahead of the resumption of plenary on Tuesday.

He said the president asked Dogara and Gbajabiamila to hold a meeting with the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun and find a solution to the problem within the next six hours.

The source who pleaded anonymity said: “He said he never wanted to interfere in the affairs of the Legislature, but he’s now forced to do so to maintain party discipline.

“The president said it is unacceptable for him to be in office under the APC, and the PDP would be allowed to dictate who occupies positions in an administration he heads.

“Buhari urged all members to look beyond themselves and consider the country and the platform under which they were elected.”

Dogara was elected Speaker of the House of Reps on June 9 against the wishes of his party. He polled 182 votes to defeat Gbajabiamila, who had 174 votes.

The APC had chosen Senator Gbajabiamila as its sole candidates for the position but Dogara went ahead to contest and won.

The House of Reps has been involved in leadership crisis following his emergence and this has stopped the nomination of other principal officers.

Politics / Ex-Bayelsa Governor Looted Fund Returns Back To State -Tafida by Alexisu: 2:44pm On Jul 27, 2015
Fresh information from the Nigerian High Commission In United Kingdom (UK) revealed that £5 million that was stolen by former Bayelsa state Governor Dieprieye Alamieyeseigha was returned into state government coffer in 2012.

This revelation was made by Nigeria High Commissioner to UK Dr. Dalhatu Tafida at the weekend in Birminghan while speaking to Nigerian Community. He stated that the stolen fund was retrieved by the federal government through its High Commission in London.

According to The Nation, Tafida who had earlier visited Liverpool, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle, and Manchester before his visit to Birminghan as part of his thank-you-tour as his tenure ends on August 15.

He explained that £5 million was recovered by the British authorities and handed over to two government officials from Bayelsa State, who came to London for the transfer.

He told his audience that the money was lodged into a Bayelsa State government account with the London branch of First Bank Plc.

Alamieyeseigha got state pardon by the former President Goodluck Jonathan who himself served as deputy governor during his administration.

The former governor was arrested at Heathrow Airport in September 2005 by the Metropolitan Police, later released on bail. He later flee UK to Nigeria after the bail. In Nigeria he was arraigned before Federal High on six-count of making false declaration of assets.

Former presidential adviser to Ex-President Jonathan, Doyin Okupe said in 2013 while responding the pardon said the former governor remorseful of his action that was why he was granted state pardon.

Okupe said:“He was tried, jailed and dispossessed of his property. He has been remorseful and there is no law against the granting of pardons to any criminal.”

According to report, these are assets recovered from the former governor: $1.5 million in cash, seized at the time of arrest and $2.7 million held in bank accounts (Royal Bank of Scotland PLC, Santolina Investment Corporation account in excess of GBP 1.8 million) and London real estate worth $15 million (four properties registered under Solomon & Peters Ltd. as sole proprietor).

The envoy took time to dismiss the insinuation that was making the rounds that President Buhari had rejected a Rolls Royce purportedly sent to pick him when he visited UK before his inauguration as president.

He said: “The story is not true. It didn’t happen. I went to the airport to receive him right from the plane. I took him to where he stayed and we left back to Nigeria together.

He rode from the airport with me in my official car, which is a bullet proof Mercedes Benz (marked FGN1). To God who made me, Buhari did not refuse anything we gave him. That was what I gave him for the six days he spent. Even, when he took over, I called him, I spoke to him. Buhari is my brother.”

Religion / Pastor Dies, After He Was Buried Alive By Church Members For Powers.. by Alexisu: 7:09am On Jul 27, 2015
Pastor Fails To Resurrect After Telling People To Bury Him Alive.

Five members of the same family were charged with the murder of a prophet who had been called to their home in the village of Mazonde, Zimbabwe to help them cleanse their house of evil spirits.
According to local newspaper, Zed 24 News, the accused family identified as Leanmore Mutero, Tonderai Muswere, Michael Muchengeti, Manasa Mutero and Nicholas Mutero, appeared at the High Court in Harare facing a murder charge for participating in the death of self-professed Prophet Shamiso Kanyama, who accidentally died during a healing ceremony.
Pastor Kanyama had reportedly asked his followers to bury him alive so that he could summon more cleansing powers to heal the family that had been plagued by mysterious deaths.
Zed 24 News reports that High Court Justice Owen Tagu heard how on that day, the late pastor had been invited to attend the home in the Muzarabani district, which is situated along the Mozambique-Zimbabwe border, by their priest, Zvidzai Muchengeti.
The five men had requested the priest to help them clean their home of evil spirits, because it was causing mysterious deaths in their family.
Responding to their request to perform a healing ceremony, Kanyama had ordered his followers to dig a grave and bury him alive because that was the way he summoned more healing powers to ward off evil spirits. However, the plan backfired on the prophet when instead of being resurrected as he supposed, the men dug up the grave again to find him dead.
Kanyama helped to dig his own grave before praying and jumping inside, Father Zvidzai, who has turned State witness, told the High Court. He continued that after laying face down in the grave, he ordered his followers to start covering him with soil.
“He pegged a grave-shaped pit in front of my hut and asked for help to dig the pit,” Zvidzai continued. “Deceased requested to be buried alive so that he would gain power to drive away the evil forces.”
Fearing for the life of the prophet as the men were in the process of filling the grave, he requested the men to stop what they were doing, Joseph Taderera told Justice Tagu.
However, they ignored his pleas when Kanyama urged them to continue the process of burying him alive, stating that he would rise from the grave unharmed.
“I warned the men about the danger of their actions, but my advice fell on deaf ears because Kanyama shouted, telling me that I am disturbing his angels, and urged them to continue filling the grave, saying that he would later come out alive,” Taderera said.

Politics / Senate Crisis: Saraki’s Camp Jittery Over EFCC Hammer by Alexisu: 10:49pm On Jul 26, 2015
According to a Daily Trust report, Senate President Bukola Saraki's camp is apprehensive following the invitation of Toyin Saraki for questioning by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission.

Although the latest controversy was preceded by an alleged forgery scandal against the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, EFCC's invitation of Toyin Saraki has put the 'Senate of Like Minds' running from pillar to post mode.

The fixing of her appearance day for Tuesday, the same day the Senate is expected to resume from recess is seen as a deliberately ploy to decimate the Saraki camp in the Senate. And it is believed that the wife will be used to get at Saraki who has been having a running battle with the commission.

Also, Saraki’s camp yesterday raised alarm over alleged moves by the Lawan’s camp to organise the arrest of the Senate President and Senator Ekweremadu using the police and the EFCC.

Reminds me of what happened when I was in school. One of my lecturers gave me an F in a course I was very sure I would not fail. Went to his office with another guy with the same issue, and after complaining over and over again, he reluctantly asked us to go and look for out scripts where he stacked them. Lo and behold, our scripts were not marked. He marked it in our present, and gave us a note to our course adviser for rectification. Some of our course mates who didn't bother had to carry it over thinking they failed not knowing their scripts were not marked.
Nigerian students they suffer I swear.

smirn:

Look at who is calling somebody Mumu, a prime minister is never the president, in the parliamentary system of government, we have both the president and the prime minister. The president is the head of state and commander in chief while the prime minister is the head of government. The president is elected directly by the people while the prime minister is a member of the parliament and is elected as prime minister within the parliament.

I don't get you Sir, I thot the office of the head of state is only ceremonial as is the case in Britain where the Queen is the head of State and prime Minister is the head of government.

If I am wrong, who then is the "elected' head of state of Britain?

Just curious.

Come to think of it, how does it affect the common man on the street if PMB is the first or not to stay in the said house?
