Ashawnty Davis, a 10-year-old girl told her own life after a video of her fighting an alleged bully appeared online.

Ashawnty, a fifth-grade pupil of Sunrise Elementary school in Aurora, Colorado was reported involved in her first school fight (which happens to be her last), and the video was shared online.

She was a victim of “bullycide,” when someone kills themselves because of bullying, her parents said.

She gave up ghost in Wednesday after removing her life support at the children's hospital, after she was found hanging in a closet at home two weeks earlier.

“It’s just devastating,” her father, Anthony Davis, told Fox31 Denver. “She was just a child of joy and she brought joy to everyone.”

Latoshia Harris, her mother, said her daughter had been
bullied by a girl in her school.

“I saw my daughter was scared,” Ms Harris said.

Footage of the fight was then uploaded and shared on the app Musical.ly.

“My daughter came home two weeks later and hanged herself in the closet,” Ms Harris said.

Her parents hope her story will help save the lives of other young people, The Independent reports.

“We have to stop it and we have to stop it within our kids,” Mr Davis said.

“I want other parents to know that it’s happening,” Ms Harris added. “That was my baby and I love my baby and I just want mothers to listen.”

A former senator, Ayo Arise, has been reportedly
kidnapped by unknown gunmen, as reported by
Guardian.
According to Lere Olayinka, the special adviser on Public
Communications and New Media to Ekiti State
Government revealed the news on his Facebook, Arise,
who represent Ekiti North senatorial district, was
abducted when he was returning to Abuja after attending
an event in Ekiti over the weekend.

At least one person is confirmed dead in a ghastly motor
accident that occurred around Fayose market in Ado-
Ekiti.
According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred early
hour on Tuesday.
The commercial bus coming from Falegan lost it control
as it ran into cabstar bus parked beside road before it
went on to him a woman where she stand.
The woman died immediately, as blood were coming out
her nose, mouth and eyes.
"The bus was coming from Falegan (pointing toward the
direction), maybe the bus lose control, I don't know,
then he (the bus) hit the cabstar parked there and then it
go (went on to) and hit the woman where stand. Blood
were coming out of her nose, mouth and eyes, and she
died on the spot," an eye witness told Joy9ja .
"The bus' driver's left hand almost detach from his body,
he sustain a lot of injuries," another witness said.
"One of the passengers broke his hand and legs.
"The Dagrin (Ekiti State Road Safety) came along with

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, (PDP, Abia South), has
claimed that President Buhari's 2018 budget was
“fictitious” and “dead on arrival”, throwing the Red
Chamber into turmoil.
Abaribe said this on Tuesday during plenary.
He said: “What we debate usually is the general
principles. What are we debating about a document that
is totally fictitious?” he queried.
Senator Ahmed Lawan, (APC, Yobe North), who tackle
him, said it is “out of order to use offensive and
inventive language. Mr President, to call a document that
the president of the federal republic of Nigeria presented
to the National Assembly fictitious is improper and
unparliamentary.” Abaribe plowed on.
“Mr. President, quoting the Senate leader in his speech,”
he said, “the 2018 budget is designed to consolidate on
the achievements of the 2016 and the 2017 budgets.
“What was done in 2017 when less than 15% of that
budget was released? Nothing was done. That is why I

Emmanuel Idoko, 35, on Friday, appeared before an
Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged rape of his
12-year-old biological daughter.
Lucky Ihehie, the prosecutor, told the court that Mr.
Idoko, slept with his daughter in his home at 35,
Akinwonsola St., Oworonshoki, Kosofe Area of Lagos.
The accused is facing a three-count charge bordering on
rape of a minor contrary to Sections 137, 160 and 170 of
Criminal Code Law 2015.
Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the coordinator, Lagos State
Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT),
told the court that the rape started in mid 2017.
“The alleged defilement started precisely in July, 2017 in
their single room apartment where the 12- year- old girl
was allegedly assaulted sexually by her biological father.
“According to reports, the mother of the survivor (name
withheld) divorced her father over three years ago but
Idoko did not allow the mother to go with her children.
“The father, the survivor and his other nine-year-old
daughter live together in his single room apartment.
“The survivor recalled that the first incidence happened
in July when her father forcefully undressed her at about
11:00 p.m. even though she resisted, but her own father
raped her.
“She said since then, her father’s gruesome act has been
consistent weekly and precisely on Tuesday and
Wednesday nights.”
“This caused serious emotional trauma for the young girl
who is in primary five. She kept this to herself until she
finally opened up to a mandated reporter.
“It was the mandated reporter who reported the case to
the police, took her to Mirabel Centre, a sexual assault
referral centre in Lagos, which examined and confirmed
forceful penetrations on her.
“At the sexual assault referal centre, she was
administered drugs and lodged in a private children
centre in the area.
“The matter was reported to DSVRT on Nov. 21 by Ketu
Police Station Family Unit after presenting hospital
reports, then the father was arrested,” she said.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Sule Amzat, granted the accused
N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
the case was adjourned until December 12 for
continuation of trial.

137 stipulates 14 year imprisonment for offender.

Professor Idowu Sobowale, a veteran journalist, has
narrated his experience as a reporter while covering the
events of the civil war.
Sobowale, who is a now a Journalism professor in
Covenant University, revealed that he alongside other
journalists were fed with human meat as suya during the
war.
He also called on people singing war songs to rethink,
adding that war is not something to play with.
The former political adviser to former Lagos state
governor, Lateef Jakande, disclosed this during an
interactive session with Punch, said the capital of
Anambra State, Awka, was levelled to the ground with no
single building standing.
“If you hear people singing war songs, they are most
probably people who have never experienced war. Even if
you escape, seeing the sufferings of others can be
terrifying.
“There was a day when we got to the third marine
command and the commander, Benjamin Adekunle,
asked if we (journalists) liked Suya, he said we should
get into the vehicle and he took us to where Biafra
armoured cars had been disabled, with soldiers killed
inside them. The place was terribly stinking.
“He said that was the Suya, we should eat. There was
also a day we were taken to a small stream that
separated the federal troops from the Biafra troops and
those people had sharp shooters. The war was so fierce
that when we were about to leave, out of the battalion
that went, fewer than 20 people came back alive.
“Many had died, many had been so terribly wounded and
they were just packed in lorries that brought them to
Calabar for treatment. On many occasions, we would be
eating and we would just hear gunshot and the soldier or
someone else beside you would have been killed.
“That happened several times when we were eating. I
had several instances of close shave with death. Let me
not say more than that.
One crazy soldier was just coming from behind and he
just took a cutlass and split the person’s head into two
just like that.
“It was not a pleasant thing to watch or wish for
anybody. Look at Awka, the capital of Anambra State, it
was levelled to the ground. Not a single house was
standing; not one.”

Mohammed Abubakar, while being interrogated by Niger
State Child Right Protection Agency, said he lured a nine-
year-old primary four pupil with a N10 lollipop sweet.
The 30-year-old, a commercial motorcyclist and resident
of Tudun Fulani in Bosso Local Government Area of
Niger, disclosed this on Tuesday.
Abubakar said: “I saw her outside her school where I had
parked my motorcycle to buy sweet and she told me to
give her sweet.
“I gave her a sweet and then lured her to an
uncompleted building and had sex with her.
“I am a married man and we have a 3-month-old baby; I
have not been sleeping with my wife because she just
gave birth recently and that tempted me into doing the
act with the girl.
“I only had sex with the girl once; I am sorry,” he said.
Narrating her ordeal, the victim said: “He usually lures
me to an uncompleted building close to the school
during break time.
“He will touch my buttocks and put his finger inside my
private part.
“He also gives me sweet and promised to give me
N6,000 if I did not tell anyone about the act,” the victim
said.
Hajiya Saratu Salihu, the victim’s teacher, who reported
the matter to the agency, explained that she started
suspecting the victim following her frequent absence
from class, and how the victim always disappear from
school during break time and will not return to class.
“When I started suspecting that the girl was up to
something, I kept monitoring her movement until I
caught her outside the school premises with the suspect
on November 20.
“When she entered the school, I and another teacher
took her to the bathroom and checked her private part;
we realised the girl had been deflowered.
“We questioned her and even had to beat her before she
told us that an “okada’’ rider had been molesting her
secretly.
“We then started monitoring the suspect until he was
caught in the act while trying to lure the victim,” the
teacher narrated.
Director General of the agency, Mrs. Mairam Kolo, in
reaction to the incident, said that most of the abuses
meted out to children were committed during schools’
break times.
She also said the agency will meet with the state’s
Ministry of Education to emphases the need for students
not to leave schools’ premises alone during the break
and closing periods.
“We have already embarked on sensitisation campaign to
let parents know the dangers involved in allowing
children go out alone without monitoring,’’ she said.
Kolo said that the suspect would be transferred to the
State Criminal Department for further investigations while
the victim receives medical treatments.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti has signed
into law a death penalty for any act of secret
cults, terrorism.
Fayose on Monday while penning his
signature to the bill at the Government
House in Ado, capital of the state, said this
was to tackle terrorism in the state.

Secretary, said the governor express his
dismay on the resurgence of the scourge in
the state, especially among students in
tertiary institutions.

“From now, any person who is a member of
a secret cult, whether or not the person is in
possession or in control of any offensive
weapon but commits the offence, is liable to

any manner sponsor the activities of a secret
cult, commits an offence under this law and
is liable for conviction to imprisonment for
life” he said.
The governor further warned that anybody,

such as houses, nightclubs, hotels and other
places would be committed to life

A 16-year-old girl identified Victory as (surname​ withheld), was kidnapped by a man she meet on Facebook in Edo state. Michael Duda, 24-year-old suspect, was arrested on Thursday in Benin, by the Edo State Command alongside 104 suspects arrested for various crimes, ranging from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and cultism at the headquarters of the Edo Police Command. Michael said he got to know Victory whom he met on Facebook, after she accepted​ his friend’s request. Michael said as their friendship grew stronger, he decided to invite her to his house which she accepted. He however denied that he abducted her against her wish, adding that both of them planned her kidnap to raise money for their wedding. Victoy also admitted she became friends with Michael through Facebook, said he invited her to come to his house, which she agreed. She said getting there, Michael abducted her and kept her for four days, raped her and also demanded for N4 million for her release. “On Thursday, at Ebike village, Ogheghe, bypass, Benin City, Michael, deceived me by inviting me to his house and when I got there, he told me we should plan kidnapping so that I should stay in his house. “I met Michael on Facebook last month through a friend request he sent me which I accepted. “I spent four days in his house. He made a call to my father and asked him to pay the sum of N4 million into his own account. He forced me into sleeping with him,” she narrated. Michael, who is an OND graduate of Business Administration from the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, however denied demanding for N4 million ransom, saying that he demanded for “just N2 million.” “I live at Ekae community, off Sapele road. She came to my house. We planned to collect money from her father to raise money for our marriage but I did not collect the money again. She stayed in my house for four days. “I couldn’t tell the father I want to marry his daughter. She said her father would not support the idea because she was yet to go to the university. She was with me for four days. The man said he has no money to pay. I was at home with the girl when police came and arrested me.” Victory's elder sister who gave her as Rodha, said her sister has already been sexually abused before the police could rescue her. “My sister is 16 years old and has never slept outside before. She told me they met on Facebook and the boy professed love for her," Rodha said on alleged plans by the two lovebirds to get married. "When she went to the house, she said the boy hatched the plan and said he would collect N10,000 from our father but the boy demanded for N4 million. “He will lock her inside the house and called us, threatening that he will kill her if we did not pay. He took advantage of my sister’s condition. “She told me the boy is 21 and a student, but she later saw that it was a lie. There's been a fight between the Yoruba and
Igbira group in Ado-Ekiti around Poly Bus-
stop, Joy9ja can exclusive report.
A source told Joy9ja that a fight ensue
between the Yoruba guy and an Igbira hug
but the Yoruba guy cheated the Igbira who
went on to mobilize his groups.
The Igbira group came with weapons, beating
any Yoruba guy they came across.
"I don't know what happened, as I was told,
the Igbiras (bikers) that use to park at the
Poly Junction had a misunderstanding with
one those guys that use to sell
'Igbo' (Marijuana) over there.
"The guys (in group) beat up the Igbira guy,
which lead to all this," one of the Igbira
shout in Yoruba.
Our reporter tried to get more information but
he was beaten and wounded in the process
and his phone seized and destroyed.
Thanks to the Nigerian Police Force, they
came on time to stop the situation from
spreading.
However, as the Police left the scene, the
Igbira went to near by secondary saying one
guy who claimed to be a cult ran into the
school.
"He called him 'Aiye', if he should come out
of the bush, we will kill him today."

Udoma Udoma, Minister of Budget and National Planning, has on Tuesday revealed the Federal Government plans to fund the 2018 budget. President Muhammadu Buhari presented N8.6 trillion ‘Budget of Consolidation,’ proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly for approval for the 2018 fiscal year. Udoma, while explaining the budget details, said that the government realised that inadequate revenue was the greatest challenge it was facing in its effort to deliver service to the people. “Government’s focus is to maximize the use of revenues from the oil sector and spend in the non-oil sector, to get the non-oil sector driving the economy. Once government revenue is up, the debt service ratio to the GDP would come down. More money would become available for infrastructure to better the life of the people,” the minister said. “Oil is a wasting asset. This is the time to maximize our revenues from oil and spend them in the non-oil sector. “That is basically the strategy of the ERGP (Economic Recovery & Growth Plan) and government’s plan in the 2018 budget,” he said. Other strategies to boost revenue, he said, include deployment of new technology to improve revenue collections; encourage tighter performance on management of fiscal framework for state-owned enterprises, and stronger enforcement action against tax defaulters. “Apart from the tax amnesty programme by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, to encourage voluntary payment of tax by Nigerians, the minister said government has adopted other key reform policies to realize its revenue target. “They include new funding mechanisms for joint venture operations in the oil and gas industry to allow for cost recovery in lieu of cash call payments, which constrained new investment in the oil sector”, he added. The Minister also said while reviewing 2017 budget, revenues performed at almost set targets, with oil revenue averaging N1.6 trillion from the N1.9 trillion target as at the end of the third quarter of the year. “Government, through the Ministry of Finance, is looking at the possibility of carrying out an amendment of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, FRA, to ensure that they remitted the percentage of their revenue surplus, as required by law. Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai has
blast his counterpart, Ekiti State governor,
Ayodele Fayose over his statement on the
conduct of competency test by the
government leading to the retrenchment of
over 20,000 teachers in the state.
Fayose told his official Twitter account to
