Anytime I happen to see herdsmen taking their cattle for rest or grazing in an open field, I always see some birds, most especially doves hovering around or nearby with the cattles. I have been left wondering what it signifies because birds and cattles is an odd combination, I leave this question to nairalanders.

This coronavirus is not something to be toyed with, a vaccine is needed asap |
In light of the coronavirus pandemic wavering round the world, most countries do not reveal the names nor identities of the coronavirus infected patients. I was in a deep conversation with a colleague of mine stating that withholding the identities of the patients is the best thing to do in order to prevent stigmatization. But in his opinion, he said " It will be helpful to know the patient and his identity so as to keep everyone at alert in order to curb and prevent spread of the virus". Nairalanders, what do you think, should the identities be revealed or be concealed? |

The number of people who have died in the US due to Covid-19 climbed to over 40,000 on Sunday, according to calculations by Reuters. The American death toll is the highest in the world and is almost two times larger than the figures from Italy, which is currently ranked second in terms of fatalities. The death toll has jumped from 30,000 to 40,000 in just four days after the untested but probable coronavirus fatalities were added to the numbers. The first American succumbed to the coronavirus on February 29. Italy, which remained the world’s hardest hit country for weeks, has so far recorded 23,660 deaths due to the highly-contagious disease. The US is also the international leader in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, with more than 744,000 testing positive. |

I happened to get something from a makeshift market in Ughelli, Delta State, the market was so crowded and filled up with no form of social distancing of any type. You won't find anyone with face mask, gloves,no form of sanitisers, it seems that some are thinking the coronavirus is just some joke that they won't adhere to safety tips. Even the makeshift market sited in one of the school is no different from the usual market place, because it attracts same crowd. Below are some pictures taken, I had to blur the pictures for privacy content .

Since the spread of the deadly coronavirus across countries, borders and continents, the tension of war amidst foreign powers have rescinded. Almost every country is battling with the epidemic and no one is threatening of nuking or sending warships and soldiers to fight wars. Even terrorist attacks are minimal all due to the covid-19. It's more of bad thing fighting against another battle. USA/ RUSSIA, TURKEY/RUSSIA, LIBYA/LIBYA and several more countries embroided in disputes are left fighting for survival on how to curb and defeat the new threat to humanity. |
In light of the recent events regarding to the deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido and his banishment, I was left cracking my head to ascertain if a citizen can be banished from a certain area. Fundamental human rights is entrenched in the Nigeria constitution where freedom of movement and assocation is clearly stated. Is it that the emirate law endorse banishment?. From my little knowledge, the Nigeria constitution is above any known laws in the land and must be adhered to. To the Well knowledgeable law practitioners, Is the banishment of Emir Sanusi in accordance to the constitution or does it contravene the stipulation of the law? |
The undisputed legend of Barcelona, Lionel Messi is not fading anytime soon as he has discovered a way to stay in the limelight through dead ball. Sevilla were the first team to suffer from Messi’s set-piece brilliance this season before Real Valladolid succumbed to the same fate and then Celta Vigo conceded two in the space of 20 minutes. Messi has always had an impressive free-kick in his locker, but it’s in recent years that his accuracy has really improved and he’s scored 19 across the last three seasons alone. Going to a much broader perspective, Messi alone has scored more free-kicks since the 2011/12 season than top teams in the big five European leagues. Not players. Teams! Messi has converted 29 in La Liga, while everyone at Juventus combined have scored 27, Real Madrid have 23, Roma and Olympique Lyonnais have 21 and PSG have 20 At 32 years of age, it’s easy to imagine that Messi’s contribution to Barcelona at top level will decline significantly, but with performances like this – he can easily remain at the top for even more years to come, without having to do a whole lot as well. While his arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo has recently struggled to keep up with the physical demands of his gameplay, Messi has simply perfected something less demanding for himself. And on accessions where he can’t glide through players or make darting runs through the defence, all he needs is a few set-pieces and he could yet still dominate the headlines – as we’ve seen on more than one outing. Anyone who thinks free-kicks and set-pieces are not skills to be mastered should probably think again. According to Marca, Messi has scored four free-kicks from 10 attempts in La Liga, thus giving him a conversion rate of 40% so far this season. Compare that to Manchester United who have dispatched just two of the six penalties they’ve been awarded in the Premier League, producing a conversion rate of just 33.3% . So, in other words, Messi is deadlier from free kicks than United are from penalties despite being just one player and having to shoot from twice the distance. Speaks volumes on how Messi has turned set-pieces to his natural domain.

IGBOSON1:It is a well known fact that the first coup was an Igbo led coup. if there was no first coup, would there have been subsequent coups? Go and check the casualties of the first coup and tell me how many lives were lost that belonged to the Igbo ethnic group. If Ironsi had brought the coup plotters to pay for their crimes then there would have been a relief with the Northern soldiers. The Igbo's are well blessed people but when it comes to the civil war, it was brought upon them by their own people. let's not be subjective but be objective by removing sentiment aside. |
it seems Fani Kayode have forgotten the three R's implemented by Gowon. Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction. Is this not more than an apology? Gowon even went on to say no Victor no vanquish. How many times did Ojukwu apologized to the Igbo nation and everyone for embarking on a war uncalled for. Go and learn more about what preceded the counts coup on Ironsi. if Ironsi had did the needful then there won't be any FFK spewing thrash. Don't play victim card with ethnicity. if right is right let it be right, if wrong is wrong then say it is wrong. |
