adamusuleiman1:I will be surprised if that yoruba photo is actually from 1920, it looks several decades later. But anyways: I think it's better to compare like with like. You're comparing yoruba women with igbo maidens undergoing marriage preparation. For example, Igbo women from the 1920s in the first photo below and yoruba maidens in the bottom photo.

When he said there were only a few good places in Lagos, and a significant proportion of the settlement is just blatant slums. This guy was not smiling when he did a tour around Nigeria.
|
The guy went around predominantly the western part of Nigeria and parts of the North. He went to the biggest cities there, the ones that were no doubt constantly hyped to him prior to visiting as some of the most 'developed' areas in Nigeria. Only to actually arrive there and see not even cities but 'slums that seemed to sprawl eternally in every direction'. |
With the advent of the new administration I am excited to see how many more photos we can add here very soon. |
It was only a few months ago when a yoruba woman pretending to be igbo asked a similar question to an Igbo female audience, only to receive a resounding no. [url]https://www.nairaland.com/alfo65/posts/url] |
Here is the lady in question, that created the video
|
It was soon found out that the lady was not in fact igbo at all
|
...
|
As you can probably guess, whatever she was aiming to do backfired spectacularly
|
A weird scene: A Yoruba girl creates a video pretending to be Igbo, asking if she is the only Igbo girl that wants to marry Yoruba ![]() {In the video she is dancing like an Igbo person, while Igbo music plays in the background}
|
All of that is true, it is not even a question. That is the reason why particular groups, too scared to compete with Igbos, would hide under fulani women when trying to beef with Igbo beauties, as we can see in this thread already. It is also why certain groups of men keep trying to spread propaganda that Igbo women dislike Igbo men and like them instead, when in reality Igbo women no send them. |
Narcop:Apparently, the fact that Igboland allowed people to wear what they wanted meant they were underdeveloped. For the colonists to consider them civilised, they should have been like Afghanistan. |
iReddington:Why do you guys always love to project? ![]() Below is a stunning picture of an untouched precolonial yoruba royal dynasty. In the background is a typical Yoruba palace , where the prince stands ready with his royal attendants.
|
XerXers:Igbo's decentralised living pattern is one of the major reasons why their settlements look leagues more organised and presentable than some other places in Nigeria. In a more decentralised setting, you can also beter maintain hygiene and your neighbourhood is less likely to look like a giant slum. |
Can we continue this thread? |

Shame this thread brought out so many pained trolls. |

Igbo women are the most beautiful in the world.
|
SaintBishop:Exactly, they look nothing the dominant southern Nigerian groups. Nor is their language classified as part of the 'southern Nigerian', YEAI family. But somehow they just look and sound like Ghanaians. Even foreigners in the past were easily able to distinguish them and Igbos, which means that they must have migrated from somewhere relatively recently. |
SaintBishop:Nothing to get angry about. It's just that the normal Ijaws tend to be short, stocky and very black. Their features are also tend to be foreign as well. They don't look anything like Igbos despite being neighbours, which is pretty odd. |
Coneheadyutes:Na wa o. |
Allen102:To be honest, it is believed by many that the Ijaws originated from Ghana just like modern day ghanaian tribes, ewe and ga migrated from Nigeria. Have you ever wondered why your original people dont look like neighbouring southern Nigerians? Many Ijaws abroad often get mistaken for Ghanaians groups, etc, Akan. |
Coneheadyutes:Seriously? |
TheGodlessGod:I thought I was the only one seeing that, it's so embarrassing. And it seems to be happening more regularly too. It's okay to appreciate beauty in others, but to the point when you make your own look like trash? To make it worse, many foreigners can't differentiate and will just tag the whole lot as 'Nigerians'. |

People that were still making making animal sounds, living in trees and bushes, and using leaves as clothes when Ibadan was making waves with civilization and many firsts in Africa.
