Jokes EtcLetter To Mtn by alfonso36(op): 5:53am On Sep 23, 2015
LETTER TO MTN Dear MTN, I will not go and re-register my line. You can fool everyone if you like, you might have fooled me before, but you would never fool me again. The only reason while you continue to pull the wool over our gullible eyes is because the consumer rights’ protection agencies are either in the vegetative state, or completely dead. How can you explain a situation where you would tell your millions of teeming subscribers to register their SIM cards and provide the necessary bio-data, only for you to wake up one morning to tell us to go and register our lines again WITH ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION? It beats my imagination and it defies not just logic, but also philosophy. Were you drunk when you were registering our numbers? Did a malicious virus wipe your entire database? Maybe I’m giving you too much credit sef. You probably wrote the records in books like an ancient bookkeeper and a giant yellow rat ate them all. Whatever your reasons (or lack of reasons) may be, this is beyond ridiculous. I have always maintained an MTN line because apart from being my very first line, most of my close associates also use MTN. To some extent, the coverage is also extensive. I didn’t hesitate when the directive came from NCC to register our lines. I braved the queue, registered my line and collected my security number. Didn’t I try enough? Looking back, I can deduce that my attachment to MTN was more sentimental than practical, as your tariffs are the highest for calls and for browsing. You send an average of 100 spam texts per day, enough to run down a Blackberry battery and more than enough to give any Osun State government worker waiting for Aregbesola’s alert acute hypertension. Your nuisance value knows no bounds. Even Airtel that has been passed round different investors more times than a devil’s mail bag has not come up with this kind of Grade A foolishness. What the heck is wrong with you? Don’t your customers mean anything to you?

PoliticsRe: Buhari Welcomes Compensation For Cc’s Original Inhabitants by alfonso36(m): 6:26am On Aug 29, 2015
Geestunnar:
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said he welcomed an assurance from the management of the Centenary City Plc that all the original inhabitants of the site have been fully compensated.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, quoted the President as speaking after being briefed by the Chairman of the company’s board of directors, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), and members of its management team.

Shehu said Buhari praised the Centenary City’s main development partners from the United Arab Emirates for having enough confidence in Nigeria to agree to invest about $18.5bn in the project.

He said the President also welcomed the assertion by Abubakar and his team that the project would create about 250,000 direct jobs in the Federal Capital Territory and about half a million indirect jobs.

The statement said, “The President noted that skills, expertise and vast experience that will be brought into the country to build the Centenary City on the Dubai model, will also be of immense benefit to Nigeria’s overall development.”

He said that he looked forward to regular updates on the Centenary City’s development.

Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, who was also present at the briefing, said that the issue of the rights of the original inhabitants of the site acquired for the Centenary City had been of concern to the current administration.

Shehu further quoted Osinbajo as saying that the government is glad that the issue of the rights of the original inhabitants is being handled.

Abubakar and the management of the Centenary City were also said to have told Buhari and Osinbajo that the project would be private-sector driven.

The Permanent Secretary, the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. John Chukwu, later told Nigerians not to rely on what is in the public domain regarding the Centenary City.

He was apparently reacting to a statement credited to the National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, South-South, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, who petitioned the President demanding for a probe of the role of the immediate former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim, in the multi-billion dollar project.

CultureDo Nigerians Really Know About Their Own Country by alfonso36(op): 10:47am On Aug 28, 2015
I am shocked most Nigerians know little about their Country.
I go to Kano they call me Nyamiri.
I go to Ekwulobia they call me Onye Hausa
Here in Lagos some call me Northerner, others call me Aboki, still others call me òmò Ibo.
To make matters worse, I get into trouble when I tell the Hausa man in Kano that I am not Nyamiri but a Kogite. Yauwa, he switches to Hausa and camaraderie begins. His joy is short lived when I say banaji Hausa. He doesn't believe a man from Kogi, a State is the `North' doesn't even know what Inakwana means. I cut him short by saying I am from the middle-belt, and that is where problem begins. He doesn't want to talk to me anymore - I am a traitor he says. The Christian man from Kogi, Benue, or Plateau prefers to say he is from the middle-belt, his Muslim brother thinks otherwise - he is a Northerner. Wahala de there.
And here in Lagos, I am battling to tell my colleague who has lived all his life in Lagos that Kogi is not a Yoruba state and more than 70% of Kogites do not speak Yoruba. Sometimes in Church some persons are surprised that a 'Haruna' can pray and even speak in tongues.
In Onitsha main market, every 'Kopa' that is not Yoruba is Onye Hausa. That bad.
I have studied the map of Nigeria several times, I have been to Kano, Bauchi and Kaduna. I grew up in Kogi and I have lived in Plateau, Abuja, and Benue. NYSC took me to Umunya, Oko, Ekwulobia, Uga, Awka, Umunze and many places in Anambra state. Asaba, Orlu, Owerri, Okigwe, and Portharcourt became home to me after NYSC. And at some point Bere-Oje-Felele
-Challenge-Oluyole-Bodija-Iyaganku have played host to me.
I am an IGALA man from Kogi State and my hometown which is East of River Niger and South of River Benue is less than 200km from Enugu. How, then, did I become Onye Hausa?
If you accepted Sunday Awoniyi, my brother who lives across the Niger as leader of Arewa Consultative Forum, and my State Governor is a member of the 19 Northern Governors Forum, why do you still refer to me as Nyamiri?
You say Wa, I say nawa. You say lò I say lo. You say èja I say èja. You say èran I say èla. You say Ichanâ I say Achana. You say èwa I say ègwa. Our languages are very similar, but while you see an Itsekeri man as your brother you prefer to refer to an Igala man as Aboki or òmò Ibo. My dear, go find your ancestors make dem tell you your story.
One important lesson I have learnt from my waka waka around Nigeria is that we are not seperated by the tongues we speak but by our Understanding of the one and only God - Edumare, Chukwu, Allah, Odoba Ogagwu.
So, if you out there thinking I am Aboki, Onye Hausa, Northerner, or whatever you decide to use to differentiate between you and I, sorry, dem never born you; you are still in the womb. And if you still think Edumare is different from Allah, Chukwu or God, my brother, you are still a toddler and you have a chance to study your Baibulu or Aluquran again.
For those of you who have succeeded in removing the veil of religion, ethnicity, Country and race, and now see me as your brother and God as our Father, well done, for to you belongs the Kingdom of God. As I write, Angels are in jubilant mode, Heaven is agog, and a throne is being prepared for you. Perhaps, it is time for you to leave this world to go rest in peace where you belong.

TravelNew Spaceliner Plane Will Fly From London To Sydney In 90 Minutes by alfonso36(op): 2:02pm On Aug 25, 2015
http://lm.?u=http%3A%Passengers could travel from London to Sydney in just 90 minutes in a new hypersonic plane which reaches 20 times the speed of sound.
It sounds like travellers on the SpaceLiner will have to hang on – the two-stage machine blasts up to 50 miles up using hydrogen-oxygen rocket.
It then ‘glides’ through the upper atmosphere at up to 20 times the speed of sound.
The SpaceLiner could take off by 2030 – although the team behind it admit they need to find the small matter of $33 billion first.
Martin Sippel, head of the Spaceliner project at DLR’s Space Launcher Systems Analysis Group, said, ‘We have several hundred million passengers traveling intercontinental distances each year and we think space should have a tiny portion of that.
MORE: Boy born with three joysticks has operation to correct the problem
‘Even if the share will only be 0.2%, from a space perspective that’s a potentially huge impact.’
Boarding the SpaceLiner would be very different from boarding a normal flight – the machine will sit upright on the launch pad, like a space vehicle.
At launch, rocket boosters will carry the plane up to 50 miles above the Earth, using hydrogen-oxygen engines.
The two parts will then separate – just like America’s Space Shuttle – with the rocket booster returning to Earth autonomously.
The passenger section – with room for up to 100 people, according to current plans – will then glide through the upper edge of the atmosphere, reaching speeds of 4.3 miles per second.
At landing, it will glide in much like a normal plane.
