Informing the world about the true Islam
The world is misinformed of the true message of Islam and there abound ignorance and prejudice on the person of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), an agenda should be formulated to tell the world who the Prophet of Peace is, his characters, conducts, morals. In doing so we must use wisdom to convey the message as Allah says ‘’call unto the way of your Lord with wisdom.” The example of the Prophet’s visit to Ta’ifa shows how one should implore wisdom in imparting the message of Islam, when the Prophet (s.a.w) went to Ta’ifa to present the message of Islam to its people, they refused to listen and pelted him with stones to force him out of their city. When he left he was so bruised from the walk and harsh treatment that his feet were bleeding, Archangel Gabriel descended accompanied by the custodian angel of the mountains, Gabriel told the Prophet (s.a.w) that Allah had given him, Muhammad (s.a.w) the option of punishing the people of Ta’ifa by squashing them between the mountains that surround the city. The Prophet (s.a.w) declined their offer in hope that some of their offspring would worship Allah one day.
The angel carried down divine empowerment that gave the Prophet ability to take revenge, but he resorted to show compassion hoping their offspring might accept Islam even though their parents were never ready to accept Islam, this is the mercy of the Prophet of Islam, the people of Ta’ifa refused to listen yet their offspring are now Muslims, this is a clear portrayal that Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) is sent as a mercy to the entire of mankind as Allah says in the glorious Quran ‘’We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to the entire of Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).”
Non-Muslims who had a grasp of the true message of Islam wrote voluminously about the Prophet (s.a.w), the encyclopedia Britannica states ‘’… a mass detail in the early sources shows that he was an honest, upright, man who had gained the respect and loyalty of others who were likewise honest and upright men”. George Bernard Shaw said in regard to the Prophet (s.a.w) ‘’He must be called the savior of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume leadership of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that will bring it much needed peace and happiness’’. Another account of the virtuous life of the Prophet (s.a.w) is by the Dutch orientalist professor Hurgronje, who says “The league of nations founded by the Prophet of Islam put the principle of international unity and human brotherhood on such universal foundations as to show candle to other nations, the fact is that no nation of the world can show a parallel to what Islam has done towards the realization of the idea of the league of Nations.”
Mahatma Gandhi read the biography of the Prophet (s.a.w), he was fascinated, he wrote the following account in his book “YOUNG INDIA’’ concerning the prophet ‘’ I wanted to know the best of one who holds undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind…I became more than convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet, the scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness and his absolute trust in God and his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the 2nd volume (of the prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of the great life.”
These are just a few narratives by non-Muslims who read and understood the true message of Islam and Its impeccable Prophet (s.a.w), if those who vilify the religion of Islam were opportune as their non-Muslim fellows mentioned above to know the authentic Islam, I doubt if they will hold on to their disdainful notion about Islam.
