I humbly disagree that it makes us look like fools. I am a lawyer, called to the Nigerian Bar 20 years ago, I remember the pride with which I set off to Chancery Lane in London to get fitted for my wig and gown at 20! My colleagues from the USA and other non ceremonial dress countries, while they initially laugh at the pomp of it all, also admit that they do so with a certain sense of envy. There is a certain prestige and identification associated with the wig and gown, when properly made and worn, that makes all the years of studying and abuse worthwhile! I agree that not everyone can afford a wig and gown from Ede & Ravenscroft, but the folks who make them in Nigeria cut corners and produce sub standard end products (as evidenced by the jacked up wig on 1st page). I will admit, the heat makes it a bit uncomfortable, but I can deal with a bit of discomfort. Besides, if all things were equal in Nigeria, all court rooms and hallways really should be air conditioned, at this point in our post-independence history. I LOVE my wig and gown, and I humbly submit that I look fabulous in it!
LOL My brother, you mean without a wig you cannot have prestige and confidence ?How does the wig and gown help with your daily routine as a lawyer ? |

denitro: Wise moveWell people here is your answer ![]() Do you mind explaining to use illiterate how it is a wise move ? |
Jyde89: If that hpns,then that mean's the illuminati boy's have seized controle of our economy....my heart bleed's 4 this country. Our leader's are monster's.LOL ![]() |
Shebi una talk say you no go learn, You go learn by thunder by fire. Sanusi is just following the economy so stop blaming Sanusi If you increase price of fuel in a mono economy like Nigeria, every commodity inflates, thus devaluing the Naira. eg what 10 can buy before would be less now SO STOP BLAMING SANUSI !!!!!! |
jamace: Above people are just watching the show. They are dumbfounded.Yes o !!!!! I voted for GEJ not PDP are now looking |
Buhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha My belle oh !!!! ![]() Well those that did wanted fuel subsidy to be removed without any other source of revenue are seeing it now. Very soon it would be 1000000 note for ONE peak milk ![]() Bunch of tribalistic iddeeiots. Maybe Asari and Ohaneze can explain this Chai I miss Gani and Fela |
chuksikem: Guy..who are you?like seriously ..where are you??you come across as a chamelon..no roots,no heritage..guess you have no life too..today you are igbo, tomorrow Yoruba..pray tell..who are you?don't you have roots??What is the importance of my root. ok if you must know, I am Igala ungbo duu ku lo oma igala omi chey |
kutchs: It is very silly to defend the man on the basis of his ethnicity, it is very silly. It doesnt matter where the guy comes from, whatz important is that his action be condemned in strong terms even by the Yorubas wasting their times defending him. Being Yoruba, Ibo or Hausa does not give him the right to take life and every sane mind should declare him public enemy no1.Maybe you are miss reading. NO BODY IS DEFENDING THE MAN. Did you read the article at all ? |
ungbo duu ku lo oma igala omi chey |
deandavid: my broda, the whole delta state issue is so annoying. Just look at warri, the youths have turn criminals and killers, we hear of successful killing, stealing and kidnapping everyday. And nothing is being done. The gov is the chief criminal of the state, what do u expect from his disciples. My brother, this is not only happening in Warri. We are experiencing the same from Kano Kaduna to Oyo down to Lagos. We really need to start working together if not these politicians and their propagandist would sell us away. The suffering is too much for the common man. |
kayusbrown: Anyone, regardless of his/her tribe or origin, that believes and practices strictly the Yoruba philosophy of ''Omoluabi'' will be an epitome of righteousness. Being a Yoruba by tribe or origin doesn't make you an automatic ''Omoluabi'' unless you believe and practice this philosophy strictly. We've seen politicians of Yoruba origin, who are not ''Omoluabi'' steal public funds and exhibit other characters contrary to this Yoruba philosophy cos their chosen philosophy is materialism and hedonism! It is therefore possible Suleiman Mohammed is of Yoruba origin but of Boko Haram philosophy! QED.Thank you jare. That is what most people are yet to understand |
Gbawe: The current Boko Haram is just very potent because it has been made so by politics. Specifically PDP politics. Did Yar Adua, A Northerner, not descend ruthlessly on Boko Haram at a time the PDP had not settled on the group as a tool to fight other PDP members?I know so as well, Boko haram was formed from the fight happening between PDP fractions. Really I can't wait for APGA, CPC OR ACN win PDP out of the federal government. PDP plays politics with human lifes. Very sad, Till today I can't still believe my family members are still top dogs in this same party. |
Boko haram members found so far 1. Kanuri 2. Igbo from Imo 3. Hausa 4. Ebira 5. Nupe Still counting |
Funkymallam: Abokina Ahj Harem frm Kanuri and Anambra state put together don turn Awori.I am Igala from Kogi !!! I am telling you the truth cos you are my friend ![]() |
Chai !!! Beaf always in illogical and very very biased. I remember the early days of Boko haram, you use to call it a northern group supported by northerners to destabilise GEJ. Now the man happen to be from Ogbomosho, it is another thing. @ Gbawe, You are very correct I always knew from day ONE that Boko haram was NOT northern but an Issue affect the country, Of course the Igbos and Beaf were quick to say otherwise. just watch as they now say it is Yoruba and Hausa. |
Most people don't know the meaning of adaptability and accommodation. Being able to adapt is the ability to blend in with a change in environment wherever you find yourself in. Igbos travel a lot quite alright but their adaptation is ZERO. I am sure they would insult me now but that is the truth. Ok, Lets ask ourselves the pending questions. How is northerner able to differentiate between Igbos and Yoruba ? Yes you guess is as good as mine, they CANNOT in most cases because yorubas can blend in quite well unlike Igbos which are easily spotted. You Igbos are good in adaptation, why are they discriminated against in cameroun ? Why not other Nigerians why Igbos alone ? . As a result of the better educational facilities in Nigeria (as compared to Cameroon), the British were more or less forced to employ Igbo for administrative functions instead of members of the local population. For many inhabitants of Cameroon the notions `Igbo' and `Nigerian' were almost synonymous. This meant that Igbo were always regarded as outsiders, because they were Nigerians at heart and only in Cameroon to get rich quickly. 13 Likewise, in northern Nigerian towns, one of the objections to Igbo was that the profits made in town were send back to the Southeast, rather than invested in the development of the town. Although not all Igbo migrants actually returned to their towns of birth, many authors emphasize that all migrants, even the most westernized, kept longing for a return to their home town. http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~dvdb/CH_7.pdf You see what I mean, Also in Ghana, apparently there are more yorubas and hausa in ghana than Igbos but Igbos are easily noticed and discriminated against as "nago" although that word is meant for "yorubas" because that is their name in Ghana. I hope people I seeing what I mean, Just cause Yorubas don't go to the South-east (Not South-south) does not mean they cannot adapt. Adaptability is blending in with the environment and growing up with it without them discriminating against you. We can also go to even Rivers state where there are meant to be a large amount of Igbos, The same is the case --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accommodation can be seen in perspective, Ok here is what I mean To some accommodation can be seen as the ability of the "host" to speak the language THEY THE GUEST understand. Well fair enough but that would only work for those that don't value their culture. The English and Americans are the most accommodation people on earth and they don't speak chinese or hausa but speak English. Also in my own terms accommodation mean the ability for different cultures from divise background to live and work in your territory. There is no where in Nigeria that is more mixed than the SW, KOGI AND KWARA. Quote me anywhere, in terms of host and guest. In fact just becasue of that the whites called "Yorubas " once as Aka people because they greet a lot. You only greet guest IMO abi ? Urhobos are sure accommodation in terms of they speak broken english any anyone can understand that, but just cause Yorubas don't speak the language you want them to speak does not make them less or does it ? You cannot go to another land and expect people to speak the language YOU WANT THEM TO SPEAK. It is silly. I hoped to sound tribalistic But I want discerning minds to understand where I am coming from. ![]() |
Anybaba: The Yorubas are accomodating. And they are generally good people. You can build in Yorubaland and actually call it home without someone waking up one day to molest you. I said Yorubaland and not Lagos since the hospitality of the Yorubas goes way beyond Lagos. I do not think it wrong therefore to tell the Yorubas to continue in this path.Thank you sosongo |
orufe: nice to stop tribalism. Wil-wily should also stop tribalism.you sound so much like andre uweh that aside, the double standards Igbos do here is too much. Most Igbos claim others are tribalsitic but they forget to look into themselves. The lies, insult and propaganda against the yorubas would only lead to your demise. |
kettykin: Igbos have already scrificed more than enoughso that is the reason Nairaland Igbos chose to Insult others ? I bet if a yoruba or hausa man too comes and talk about their self-sacrifice, Your brothers would be the first people to shut them up. I lie ? It just that I have stopped tribalism if not all the rubbish been post here would have been stopped a long time ago. Rubbish |
cantell: When is the next declaration and which tribe will it be? Okoko.Next week, It would be Igala or so, watch out ![]() |
PeterKbaba: Mumu.. you dont get the drift.. we are not asking you people to leave. we are only asking people to respect the local indigense of lagos. Is this too much to ask. Aba. Can I come to any igbo land, live there, marry there, make a living in peace there, without fears of kidnap or bombing.. we make you feel at home. Is little respect for us yorubas to ask. aba nau.Gbammmmm, now you are understanding my sentiment. |
kettykin: Okay Sir !!! We are sorry for talking the way we talk, we would not do it again. If any yoruba talk rubbish kosaara m ya (tell me). I hope you were not angry, sorry for the discomfort. ![]() |
cantell: So you're now a yoruba? When did you declare? Haba I declared this 2 months ago ![]() |
Biko dalu for saying the truth. Lagos is the worst city in the entire world. This is a FACT supported by even a documentary. The way they talk on this forum you'll think lagos is new york. Its pathetic they call it nigeria london, not only is it an insult to london, its an insult to entire uk. Lagos is not even nariobi, entire sa cities, and many other african cities level and this people are lining it alongside london. Delusional is an understatement in their assessment. Its better to say Lagos is nigeria addis ababa. I'm actually in support of igbo leaving lagos, upon leaving either sell your investment or blow up your investment therefore this longer throat lazy fools wont get the satisfaction of abandon property they so crave.
Again for the upteeth time, Yorubas don't steal other people's property. Yorubas are not like that After the war the only abandon property that occured was in Port harcourt YOUR "EASTERN REGION" All properties in the West, Mid-west and North were all returned to the owners so you have nothing to fear. |
2mch: Ndu chuks might also be Aljharem. If not, then he's a true Nigerian because even Igbo's are shocked at his fluent command of the language. He's always attacking Igbo's, so I don't think he's Igbo. Ndu_Chuks is most likely Yoruba, but grew up in the North and is a Northerner by thought and association.Ndu chuks, Okija juju, Alj harem, Jason123, Haka nai et are all Alj harem I can't even remember them all |
their hatred for yorubas is inbreeding,so dont blame them.
My brother I tire ![]() |
My Igbo brothers, you can spit fire day and Night against yorubas but put one thing in mind. You can never find another group of people you can insult and get away with it like the yorubas You berra start treating us better if not we go vex one day and talk say we no dey greee again ROMFLAO !!! |
PeterKbaba: AT THE END OF THE DAY, WE STILL LOVE OUR IGBO'S ...Yes'O !!!! ![]() |
