Alh, can you stop this brainless argument of yours. I thought you know better than this or are you putting up this crap to cajole the Igbo. Anyway, those who wrote Igbo were schooled in the old British fasion. But now Ndigbo controls their literary work and has made it clearly known even to the Europeans that it is Igbo. Chinua Achebe even in the 1950's also wrote Ibo but has since stopped it but writes IGBO now.
It is IGBO.
ok but according to history and what is thought in school round the world maybe apart form SE it is written as ibo or sometimes igbo

which i think is no problem given the fact has been used for decades before now

now changing it from ibo to igbo is not going to be that simple. no matter the insult

yes i respect you views that it should be written as igbo but is Hausa is meant to be written as hausawa

so you see

Are the Igbos different from the Ibos? Posted on 27/07/2011 by Prince Charles Oforkaja

Sometimes, some Igbos get offended when their ethnicity is described as Ibo. They say that the word “Igbo” is the only correct term for their ethnic group. That is not true.

Our founding father, Eri Ben Gad described himself as Heebo, after his Hebrew ethnic group. Olaudah Equiano described himself as Iboe- remember, he is the Equianoist icon. In the Jamaican Revolution of 1816, the Reggae nation named their leader “The King of the Eboes”.Many other great Equianoists (Igbos) have described themselves by different variants of this name. What matters is that we all know they were talking of the same people, the great Igbo race.

So, next time someone calls you Ibo, don’t frown. Smile! That is what you are.

Igbo is the people

ibo is the language

thus you can say igbo is the same is ibo

igbo=ibo

some call it eebo or heebo which to me might be offensive to igbos

but igbo and ibo is the same thing, do not let all this nairaland revisionist lie to you that it is igbo not ibo. that is a lie

IGBO or IBO is the same but it all depends on the context in which you use it

President Boni yaya :- I am yoruba

President of Benin Republic, Dr Thomas Boni Yayi, on Saturday shocked prominent Yoruba Obas and leaders when he announced in impeccable Yoruba language at Ile-Ife that he was happy to be back home.

Yayi, who was in Ile-Ife to receive an honorary doctorate degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University and a chieftaincy title from the Ooni of Ife, said he was happy to be where his story started.

"Kabiyesi, my being here today is home-coming. It is the water that weaned me that I have come to see. It is the breast that I sucked that I have come to behold. Just continue to pray for me, your son who is the President of Benin Republic," he told the Ooni after he was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Sooko Adimula Obaninuola of Ife.
Yayi, who is from the Yoruba-speaking part of Benin Republic, told his audience which included Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Afenifere leaders - Chiefs Reuben Fasoranti and Ayo Adebanjo – and the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji AbdulMumini Kabir Usman, that his country and Nigeria were inseparable brothers.

"Nigeria and Benin share the same culture, people and history. Indeed, Benin is Nigeria's 37th state while Nigeria is Benin's 7th department," he said.

He added that he was happy that the regional integration started by former President Olusegun Obasanjo was being continued by the Umaru Yar’Adua administration.
He was accompanied by over ten Yoruba Obas from Benin Republic.

Yes, let them start with all the most lucrative Nigerian banks (refunding their investments first though), they should close down Silverbird Cinema for a start, they should send all the fee paying Nigerian university graduates back home, refunding any fees paid for the current semester of course. They should buy back all the land and houses paid for by Nigerians,

Err, doesn't look so attractive now does it ?

The point is, we need to get to the bottom of why these people where deported.

The state governors should be pressured into divulging details and made to redress the situation where they had no power to do as they did.
why should nigerian be in ghana at the first place.?

did they beg us to come and invest ? No

all this  nigeria is ghana big brother has to stop. you invested, you did this you did that only for them to rubbish you. leave ghana alone and come back to nigeria

lets to being proud that we build this we built that we invested in another man's country. It is a source of SHAME because after they would deport all of you.

leave ghana alone and if they deport any nigeria, it serve us right

your very silly for this statement , so igbo people should start killing themselves because majority dont have black skin? God punish you there i think your the one with inferiority complex. i dont know what it is with non easterners and skin color . we dont all have the same color deal with it or form your own country if you dont like the way God created you.
dude who said anything about killing or whatever u wrote up there huh huh huh

did you read what viceno wrote about his family. i dey laff ooo

he said he wants to eliminates all the dark skin in his family. that his parents have been doing it before him.

is that not inferiority complex.

I think the light skin issue depends on the family,my family loves light skin a lot, right from the days of my great great granfather, male members are adviced to marry a light skined and beautiful wife, there is always an unspoken sadness, when someone marries a dark or brown skined wife, even the girls are praised when they marry a light and skined handsome person, when a family member sees a light skined and beautiful girl child,he runs back home to report to the umunna, who in turn visits the girls parents to ask for the child's hand in marrage, the umunna then presents one of its male members as the suitor. This was the practice long time ago,it is no longer practiced, but because of it,we have a lot of really light skined people in my family and less brown/dark people.

When my dark skined brother wanted to marry an ngwa girl,my mum saw red,but when she learnt that she was beautiful and light skined, she thought that where she is from doesn't matter, lol,as long as she was concerned,it was a chance to eliminate the dark genes, and when she gave birth to three light skined children,it was a win-win situation for my mum and my brother, hehehe!

Not at all, being light skined and good looking is an advantage,it stands you out from the crowd,it can open doors for you, especially when you have a good head on your shoulder. My grandfather told me that they did it because they wanted to have outstanding daughters, who would in turn marry influential members of the clan. kettykin:
@ yinka , the people who stream into lagos everyday do so for no other reasons than the embassies they need to do transaction, the seaport they need to clear their goods or the international airport they need to go travel overseas.

A deep sea port in warri and akwaibom will change all that , the 4 intenational airports in nigerdelta and enugu will further consolidate that.

The embassies will basically close old redundant offices and open new consulates as business dictates.

I am still baffled and bemused on how a country that is supposed to be diverse operated only a seaport in apapa lagos
so what is the point of all this analysis. It is clear that Jonathan is build 4 international airports in the east and SS balysea int airport, asaba airport, enugu, some even say port harcourt airport. (some just need renovation)

and he is building 3 seaports which are port hacourt, onistaha and delta state

so why not wait and see. all this analysis is just not conclusive as people do not just come to lagos for business like you suggested

different facts come into play.
