21-year-old suspected serial scammer, Emmanuel O. Israel, pictured above, has been arrested by men of the Delta state police command, has been arrested by men of the Delta state police command for posng as ''Ned Nwoko Jnr'', the supposed son of billionaire businessman and husband of actress Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko.

Israel who was operating with the fake name, Emzy Ned Nwoko Jnr on social media, was arrested in Mbiama, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Port harcourt, Rivers State at his friend's place after many months of investigation.

According to the police, Israel operated scam Facebook, twitter, WhatsApp and emails to hoodwink the public and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

He was arrested alongside his sister, Love Israel, for criminal impersonation , conspiracy, defamation of character and conduct likely to threaten public peace, crimes that portend long prison terms. The police says the suspects will be charged to court soon.

A 39-yr-old lady, Mercy Momoh has been arrested for allegedly stealing a two-month-old baby in Ado-Ekiti. The baby was stolen from his mother, Funmilayo Sunday, on Friday, after the suspect tricked her to follow her to the State Secretariat under the guise to help collect some relief materials being given by government to flood victims.

The suspect, on getting there, sent Funmilayo to help her procure recharge card, but ran away with the baby before she returned. Upon her arrest, the suspect confessed that she stole the baby because of her dire need of a male child.

She claimed that due to her inability to bear a male child, her husband got married to another woman and may likely throw her out of the house.

The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Navi Mumbai have arrested a Nigerian national, for possession of ivory and a sword cane, earlier this week. Uzodima Hope (40), who resided at Bonkhode village in Koparkhairane, was traced with the help of King Chukwudi Fidelis (30).

Mr. Fidelis, another Nigerian, was arrested at Sector 13 in Koparkhairane last week for the possession of 64 gm of amphetamine powder worth ₹3.2 lakh.

Investigations revealed that he had got the drug from Mr. Hope, and hence the police set out to nab him. “While searching Mr. Hope’s house, we found a 12 inch-long elephant tusk worth ₹1.65 lakh and a sword cane. Upon interrogation, he confessed that he had smuggled them from Nigeria,” senior police inspector Ravindra Budhwant, ANC, said.

He said the duo had entered the country on tourist visas, which looked fake to the police, and they would be verifying them. The accused claimed to have a clothing business in the country but police suspect the claim is an attempt to cover up the smuggling. Mr. Hope has not yet revealed where he got the drugs from.

A former lawmaker in Zamfara, Alhaji Manir Gidanjaja, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) three weeks ago, has dumped the party and returned to the APC.

Gidanjaja had on August 8 announced his defection to PDP and was received into the party at Government House in Gusau.

“I am happy to be here today to clear myself from some circumstances I found myself. I want to tell the entire people of Zamfara State and Nigeria that I have returned from PDP to the APC. I returned to APC because my political supporters are not willing to join PDP. I want to use this opportunity to apologise to our APC leader in the state, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari, state APC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Liman and entire APC members in this state over what happened.'' Gidanjaja said.

“I am seeking your forgiveness over what happened. I am sure those very close to me are aware of the circumstances I found myself which led to my defection to PDP. I joined PDP last month due to some reasons beyond my control and since my defection, I have not been recognized, I have not seen good political leadership in PDP.'' he continued.
