The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Rivers State Command DSP Nnamdi Omoni, in a press statement titled, “Death While in Service” disclosed the sad incident.

He said “with a deep sense of loss but with total submission to the Will of the Almighty, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Mustapha Dandaura, regrets to announce the untimely death of Late CSP Sanni Summaila, who died last night after undergoing Brain Surgery.

The Commissioner of Police on behalf of the Officers and Men of the Command conveys the Command’s sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Officer and prays God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Operatives of the EFCC, on Friday, December 13, 2019, arrested 29 suspected internet fraudsters, better known as Yahoo Yahoo Boys in three different locations in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The haul included a 16-year-old undergraduate. The suspects, who are believed to have used different pseudo names to defraud their unsuspecting victims, were arrested following intelligence and three days surveillance on their hideouts in Bishops Courts’ Malo Lodge, Umuagu Mbieri and King David’s Suite in Owerri. Five cars that include:

Lexus RX 350, 2013 model, Lexus RX 330, 2009 model, Lexus ES 300, 2002 model, Toyota Corolla Sport and Toyota Camry were seized from them, so also 15 laptops, phones and computer hard-drives.

Unknown gunmen shot dead a retired principal and the Lay President of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Mr Christopher Karigidi, in Igbobini Diocese, Irele Local Government of Ondo State.

Karigidi was killed in the early hours of Monday by the unknown gunmen who invaded his home in Ode Irele at about 3 am.

It was not clear if the gunmen who killed Karigidi were assassins or armed robbers as some witnesses claimed they left without taking anything from his home.

Former Boxing heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony Joshua on Sunday landed at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia ahead of his must win rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr on December 7.

Joshua who shockingly lost to Ruiz in June, decided to land in Riyadh two weeks early with his entourage and was quickly taken on Monday to the stadium and gym specially built for the fight by the Saudi Arabian government.

The couple tied the nuptial knots at Decorium Event Centre in Oregun, Lagos after 10 months of dating.

December is next the door

Anthony Joshua has once again spoken on his first career defeat at the hands of Andy Ruiz Jr. saying it was due to a lack of experience and he had become a “smarter” fighter ahead of December’s rematch.

Mexican-American Ruiz produced one of boxing’s biggest upsets when he dethroned the previously undefeated world heavyweight champion with a seventh-round stoppage at New York’s Madison Square Garden in June.

“It wasn’t burnout. The issues I faced in the last camp, it’s just down to lack of experience. Even though it was at a high level, we were still finding experience. Andy Ruiz is good but I don’t think he should beat me twice.

I used to hear guys say you have to take a loss and I would think ‘why’? Now I can understand it and know what it takes. I have more understanding now and my ears are open to new information so that’s making me smarter as a fighter,” Joshua told BBC in a new interview.

The WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight title rematch dubbed the ‘Clash on the Dunes’, will take place in Saudi Arabia on December 7 after former Olympic Champion Joshua triggered a rematch clause.

“The blessing is I have a second chance and here we are,” the 30-year-old said.
