A Georgia teen who strangled his sister to death during a dispute over the family’s Wi-Fi password has been sentenced to life in prison. Kevon Watkins, who was 16-years-old at that time of the fatal attack in February 2018, had reportedly been playing an Xbox game before he changed the family’s Wi-Fi password because the internet was slow due to the number of people using it. At one point, Kevon’s mother tried to take his Xbox from his room when his sister Alexus Watkins,19, confronted him, according to testimony at the teen's trial and 911 calls from the incident. Alexus was pronounced dead of asphyxiation early the next morning at a local hospital. On Friday, August 2, 2019, Kevon was found guilty of felony murder and aggravated assault. During the hearing, Bibb County Superior Court Judge Verda Colvin explained she found Kevon guilty of murder instead of voluntary manslaughter because his 13-year-old brother tried to get him to stop choking their sister. “Even under the best estimation, by the time [a sheriff’s deputy] got there …. It had been at least 11 minutes that the defendant had to have been choking his sister,” Colvin said, according to the local paper. “In those 10 minutes, she had to have stopped moving. Perhaps that wasn’t noticed by the defendant because he was still angry.” https://all-gists..com/2019/08/18-year-old-sentenced-to-life-in-prison-for-killing-his-sister-over-wi-fi-password.html

The Defence headquarters has described as false, the story by The Wall Street Journal which accused its officers of burying a thousand dead soldiers in secret graves, to avoid bad publicity. The American medium had reported that soldiers are being buried in unmarked graves in Borno State, after the army suffers defeat from Boko Haram. But Defence spokesman, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu released a statement saying: “This insinuation can only emanate from an uninformed position of the author of the said publication. Therefore, it must be unambigously clarified that the Armed Forces of Nigeria does not indulge in secret burials, as it is sacrilegious and a profanity to extant ethos and traditions of the Nigerian military.” He insists fallen heroes are honoured in befitting military funeral of international standard, featuring funeral parade, and solemn prayers. https://all-gists..com/2019/08/army-denies-denies-having-secret-mass-grave.html
