Politics / Re: Name Your Presidential Candidate And Give Us Three Reasons We Should Vote Him by Alozie21(m): 7:59pm On Oct 31, 2022
Peter Obi:
1. Nigeria need someone who understands the level of hardship in the Country and passionate on how to solve it, it never a rocket science but counting based on the previous offices this candidate held and the role they played and still playing in the polity, Nigeria need someone we can held accountable and someone who can easily listen to the masses and do the needful.
2. In other to solve the issues of marginalization and Inclusivity at the center as of today count from the number 1 Candidate of the country to the number 8 you can't see an Igbo man. Indirectly it a clear call that igbos are not Nigeria, yet no one want to talk about referendum, so if Obi becomes the President is have given Igbos sense of belonging and justice to keep Nigeria united.
3. Peter ideology on finance, infrastructure, accountability, transparency, humility among others shows the kind of change we have been clamouring for, and I personally believe in him.

Politics / Wike: We Are Yet To Decide Presidential Candidate To Support by Alozie21(m): 7:45pm On Oct 31, 2022
Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has declared that the State is yet to decide who it will support for the presidency in 2023.

The Governor also chided a former Minister of Transport and Rivers Director, Atiku Supporters, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, saying he lacks the capacity to speak for the people of the State.

Wike declared that the Rivers PDP governorship candidate, all the House of Representatives, Senate and House of Assembly candidates would win in the 2023 general elections.

He however disclosed that the State was yet to determine what to do concerning the presidential election.

“PDP will win our State. I am not hiding it as far as the governorship, House of Reps, Senate and State Assembly are concerned. The other one we have not decided until the right thing is done,'' he said.

Wike described Sekibo as a self-seeking politician, who was unable to attract democratic dividends of any kind to the state and his Okirika hometown when he served as a Minister.

The governor spoke during the inauguration of 319 ward and 32 constituency liaison officers in Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday.

Wike said: "I watched a video when one Dr. Abiye Sekibo, while he was addressing people in his house on Sunday, said he is the director of Atiku's Supporters in Rivers. I have no problem about that. But he does not have that capacity to speak on behalf of Rivers State.

"In that video, he said that River State has been having a close relationship with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and that Rivers State has always benefitted from Atiku Abubakar. I want to correct one impression, Dr. Abiye Sekibo has a personal relationship with Alhaji Atiku, not Rivers State.

"Dr. Abiye Sekibo was Minister of Transport when Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was the Vice-President of Nigeria. Can you people mention one project in Okrika, I don't even want to talk about Rivers State, in Ogu/Bolo, one project that he brought down to Rivers State. Is there anyone?"

Wike said leadership was not about personal aggrandizement, but serving the people, protecting their interests while building up others as competent successors.

The Governor said people like Dr. Sekibo number among those, who were never satisfied with the fortunes they had enjoyed in life, otherwise, he should have been silent in the public sphere for his failure in leadership.

He said: "I was a Minister, junior Minister in that matter. But I am proud to say anywhere I go to in this state (Rivers) ,I brought dividends of democracy to Rivers state.

"As a junior Minister, I brought the Oil and Gas Polytechnic to Rivers State which is sited in Bonny. There was no Faculty of Law at the University of Port Harcourt since the creation of that institution, but I brought it.

"As a Minister, I made sure Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic and the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, even if they are State's institutions. I made sure they got grant of N500m each."

Wike also mentioned his several educational interventions at the primary and secondary school levels, which depicted what true leadership should be.

Stop thinking from your Anus, vote whoever you wish but remember Nigeria have 2 options either we stay united or we divide
praxs:

Why didn’t you stoped Sowore from contesting in 2019 since it was the turn of the north?

And I can't find any corrupt free Nigerian supporting Atiku and Tinubu only Criminals

We shall consider a better and more presentable Igbo man but obi is the worst of them.
Even his kinsmen are against him
I cant find any notable Igbo man who is supporting obi.
No family members both nuclear and extended
Even those who worked with him as governors none came to support or campaign for him.

Is Atiku coming to be president of the PDP? Why you are saying this is because you are a tribal bigot, take your time read the PDP constitution and make reference to Section 13 3 of Nigeria Constitution, now tell me what your balancing is. Let me remind you Atiku is a Fulani man and if Nigeria suffered from Buhari like this Atiku will be worse.
praxs:
The beauty of democracy is you are free to vote whosoever you believe is the right candidate. Last PDP president was from the south, why should PDP zoned it ticket to the south again.Buhari of APC is from the north, now a southerner is the flag bearer.
What is your complain? These are two different parties, with different constitution. Sowore contested in 2015 and 2019 elections and I never heard any southerner positing that he should drop his ambition because it’s the turn of the north. He contested on a different party, now Atiku is contesting on a different party and you are saying he should drop his ambition for another party. So much hypocrisy
Politics / Re: Open Letter To The Pdp Presidential Candidate. by Alozie21(m): 6:42pm On Oct 27, 2022
Divide and rule you said, if you have kindly analyze Nigeria politics you will understand that the South are the most united when it comes to politics and voting, Nuhu Ribadu is from the North, Shakarue is from the North Buhari is from the North, Atiku Abubakar is from the North and 4 of them contested against Yar' adua a Northern man as well in 2007 but the south polled the vote that gave PDP wining. In 2011 same thing repeated, the South polled another vote that gave PDP wining, in 2015 outside Block vote from Southwest, NW, NE and NC wouldn't have won. Know this and know peace
Michelle70:
I am from the south too.
Lets face it, the south has always been playing "divide and conquer" politics.
while the north has perfected the politics of unity.

Today, this divide and conquer is hunting us and u are complaining.

Until we get sense and make our politicians learn that we too needs the dividends of democracy, then the north shu be the president.

Wike child graduated from Abroad university but he brought back all the students Amaechi sent abroad.

And the same Atiku Abubakar you are supporting was the main man who played the game that can't remain in the South, but today he want to succeed his brother and calls himself unifier, those who brought this hardship to Nigerians will never enter Aso Rock
Michelle70:
We are suffering from the wrong decision of Buhari.

Like, he met a promising country with some big companies but came and told us to go to farming, i dont blame him, he has a farm and feels farming is the best.

2023, we better focus on a more future proof candidates and not someone who doesnt even understand green energy

Nigeria will be 63 years of independence come 2023, and at the end of Buhari administration will make Northern Nigeria 47 years in Power starting From military administration down to democratic administration while the south is 16 years, now someone is telling me that igbos are the problem of Nigeria.
If Nigeria is one by the power rotation will tell even a blind man that Nigeria is united. Atiku Abubakar is now coming to tell us that he is a unifier, your excellency Sir with due respect if truly you are unifier as claimed by your parrots Dino Melaye and Reno Omokri you will even be at the forefront to push for a southern candidate from your party, and will also ensure that it is micro zoned to the South East for the sake of Equity, Fairness, Justice and Inclusivity. To ensure that all regions are represented. Your candidacy have destroyed the PDP more, since formation of the party. Your body language and the way you are going shows sensible and responsible Southerners what will happen if you win Election, you claim to be friend to southerners but you are the major enemy of the south. We are not afraid of anything in this country again but the truth must be told not minding the outcome. You lack integrity, character and you can't give what you don't have. Your quest for power by all means is why you see the South as nothing because you believe that Northern vote can take you to Aso Rock, our vote doesn't matter to you. But in conclusion I will still advice you to tell your Northern brothers that you are one of the Northern leaders that is dividing this country more, and part of the under development in the North. If people like you can't Unite your Political party which is the vehicle and deliver dividends to all the party members, you can't Unite Nigeria!!! All you will do is the regional card Buhari is playing.
If we are talking about One Nigeria, let our body language and actions be the first to speak for it, not the other way round.
God bless Nigeria and give us peace!!!

Politics / I Watched The Next President Of Nigeria, Mr Peter Obi On Arise TV This Morning. by Alozie21(m): 11:31am On Oct 24, 2022
Peter Obi has grip of statistical problems of this country. He understands the economic and development models of many countries in the world who have gone through the economic crisis, inflation, unemployment and hunger that's being experienced in Nigeria today.

He also understands the competitive advantage of Nigeria and how it can be applied to resolve the present challenges.

I am certain that Presidential candidates of APC and PDP can not stand beside him in any presidential debate. Peter discusses Nigeria problems with available facts and reliable statistics records.

Truly, with Obi there will be a New Nigeria.

Politics / Peter Obi Speech With Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session, And Rub Minds O by Alozie21(m): 6:33pm On Oct 17, 2022
It is an honour to return to the City of Kaduna and to participate in the Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session, and rub minds on some fundamental issues germane to the future of Nigeria.

I thank the leadership and stakeholders of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation for their gracious invitation.

I wish to preface my remarks by setting out our mission and vision. We are all Nigerians. I am a Nigerian running for the Nigerian Presidency to serve every Nigerian. I continue to insist on a show of respect for every candidate, ethnicity, religion and person.

The mission and vision of the incoming Obi-Datti Administration is to give full expression to our democracy by moving our country from consumption to production; we shall achieve this by giving primacy to implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our dear country today has become a shadow of itself. Indeed, there is evidence that Nigeria exhibits two known indices of a failed state; parlous economy and loss of territory and emergence of ungoverned spaces.

The purpose of politics and governance is to generate economic and social progress for the citizens in larger freedom. But the status quo is the reverse. This is more so here in the North, where poverty, unemployment and insecurity are the new normal.

The North has the highest number of out-of-school children in the world. It has highest number of school kidnappings in the world. The North also has the highest number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.

The vast agricultural lands of the north - the so-called food basket of the nation stand desolate and abandoned. This situation is painful and needs to be fixed. Great nations are built through visionary policies, programmes and projects, anchored on the people.

This was always the hope and wishes for Nigeria by our founding fathers. Sadly, things changed. Our leaders became selfish, myopic and stopped listening and caring for the common man. Bad leadership, divisive rhetoric, and impunity became the norm.

Nigerians have suffered; they have lost jobs, and lost their farms and herds and their trust in our leaders. That narrative must change.

The Nigerian people want solutions to the many problems confronting them. After all economic prosperity for all is an all important aspect of a successful leadership, there is hope. We know this for sure. A new Nigeria is Possible.

But we must return to dreams of our founding fathers to create an egalitarian society. The Nigeria we seek will be a United and Secure Nigeria that symbolizes the spirit, letters, and exhorting ethos of our national anthem – “one nation bound in freedom, peace and unity” where “peace and justice shall reign.” As we seek to come to power in May 2023, we are aware of the daunting array of domestic and external challenges confronting our dear nation, and we are fully prepared to lead from the front.

We are cognizant of the domestic policy challenges that have accumulated over time; and that the lack of adequate public policy responses has made them worse, with a devastating impact on national unity, social cohesion, public trust in government, and economic performance.

We have a grasp of prevailing challenges.

Nigeria’s needs and unmet needs are very huge. Yet hunger, insecurity, poverty and deprivation know no tribe, religion or gender.

With all sense of urgency, we will, pursue aggressively policies programmes and projects to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of all the sectors of the Nigerian economy.

For the North we will do the following:

- a) We will offer immediate and decisive long-lasting and permanent-effect resolution of all security challenges in the North;

-b) Ensure that farmers return to all farmlands for the 2023 farming Season. We will make Nigeria’s arable land in the North her new oil and gold;

-c) As part of our Marshall Plan for Education, we will foster Federal intervention in education at all levels in the North and partnership with State Governments and international organizations in order to improve access to affordable and quality education at all levels;

-d) Ensure very adequate representation in government, equitable appointments especially in the Security and Economic Sectors;

-e) Incentivize the resuscitation of the moribund cotton and textile industries; and full exploration of the cattle economy value chain, notably the $75b global hide and skin economy. Nigeria’s share of the global industry is envisaged to generate over $1bn by 2025;

and finally,

-f) We will ensure very generous deployment and allocation of economic and social projects and infrastructure in the North – with keen attention to Roads, Energy, Power, and Dams- and Solar energy from Sunlight.

In closing, let me say this on record. I have come in peace to develop, to secure, and to unite, and I will do so with every commitment to the growth of Nigeria, as one great and united country.

We shall pay as much attention to the development of the North as to the development of all other parts of the country; but with much greater emphasis on the development of the Agricultural resources.

The North remains where the biggest ad sustainable wealth of this great Nation lies.

If elected President, I shall govern with the fear of God and with all good conscience and intent. The Constitution and the rule of law will always prevail.

I thank you for your kind attention.
May Almighty God bless you all and bless Nigeria.

Politics / Government Can't Do All But Let Them Try To Create Enabling Environment For Job by Alozie21(m): 7:52pm On Sep 23, 2022
The last time I traveled home, the Keke rider that took me from Nnewi to Amichi was lamenting of the tax imposed on them by Soludo government. He said the money is too much to be paid and that he can't afford to pay monthly unless daily.

I asked him if he had paid any tax to the state government since 7 months ago and he answered NO! I now told him if Government has not collected tax money from him since 7 months ago, why can't he save up money from now and be ready to pay once the government is ready to collect the money?

The Keke rider and all the occupants didn't support my argument. They even queried me on why the state government that has not done anything for them should even have a plan to collect tax from them in the first instance. I was surprised and dumbfounded in their thinking. They want good road, security and development but they don't want to assist Government by paying their taxes.

They wanted to be paying daily. But that is not what the state government wants because Government can't employ people to go round Anambra state to be enforcing daily #500 tax collection from the Keke riders of which many of them will device a means to dodge the tax collectors. Collecting the money monthly in a bulk is quite easy for the government but our people are against that. Government wanted to eliminate Agbero from Anambra parks hence its plans to be collecting the money monthly from the transporters.

These same Anambra Keke riders will travel to Lagos and pay whatever Oluomo and his goons tells them to pay but the only difference here is that Lagos state government employs thousands of Agbero to be collecting the money on their behalf but Anambra state government want a digital tax collection system to make sure that all the money enters into state government purse unlike Lagos where about only 20% of the money collected goes into Lagos state government purse while 80% goes into different pockets of individuals.

It is too sad that our people in Anambra doesn't want a sane society. But they will sit down at the comfort of their homes and admires sane societies like Europe and America yet they can't sacrifice to pay their taxes as demanded by the state government in order for their homeland to be like Europe and America.

Today they are protesting in Awka just to make sure they frustrates Soludo Government. I suggest that Soludo Government should ban them and immediately float Government owned transport systems in Anambra. Then any of them that wants to continue in transport business should come for employment. Enough of demanding from your fatherland without looking for what to do for your fatherland.

Politics / 10 Takeaways From Wike's Media Chat On PDP Crisis by Alozie21(m): 7:33pm On Sep 23, 2022
Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike on Friday held a media chat for almost two hours on Friday during which he addressed many issues on the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Here are major takeaways from the chat that held many spell-bound:

1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led the foundation for the crisis when it jettisoned zoning principle contained in its Constitution. The Presidential ticket was supposed to have been zoned exclusively to the South.

2. The PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, is not a trustworthy character. He promised to resign if a Northern presidential candidate emerged, but had refused to fulfill his promise despite the emergence of Atiku Abubakar.

3. The convention that produced Atiku Abubakar was highly compromised and flawed by the actions of Ayu. He said: "It would have ended in crisis if not for the love I have for the PDP."

4. Ayu deployed intimidation and abused his office when he convened many meetings in the houses of retired generals. The meetings, according to Wike, were " to ensure that I did not emerge the flag bearer of the party. He even vowed to resign if I should win the party's ticket."

5. PDP presidential canndidate, Atiku Abubakar, is not a trustworthy character. He lacks integrity. Wike alleged: "He visited me after his emergence and promised that Ayu would resign, but he failed to actualise it. He also met us in London and promised that Ayu must go but we were surprised that he went to a gathering and cited constitutional issues."

6. PDP is arrogant and needs restructuring. The Governor claimed: "A party that is in the opposition and serious to win an election cannot be as arrogant as the PDP. If the PDP cannot restructure itself to correct the marginalisation in the PDP, Nigerians are now doubting the party's capacity to unite the country."

7. Atiku is surrounded by those without much political value. "Those asking the party to sanction me especially Waziri from Yobe State lack electoral values. Since 1999, PDP has never won Yobe," he stated.

8. PDP cannot dare sanction, let alone suspend me. "I dare the party to sanction me. They should do it. Who will sanction me? Those, who left the party cannot sanction me. If they do it, they know what I can do," he warned.

9. No backing for Atiku until demand are met. "If at the end, the party refuses to meet our demand, we will meet again to take a decision on our next strategies for the election. Haven't you seen where a senatorial candidate lost in an area while the governorship candidate from the same party won in that same place?"

10. There is nothing that justifies Ayu remaining in the office. Ayu should demonstrate that he loves the PDP by resigning. The NEC can meet and take the decision and later rectify it in a convention after the election. Nation

List of what the integrity lead Administration have to say about the high level of insecurity in Nigeria.

EFFORTS OF SECURITY AGENCIES NOT GOOD ENOUGH’
On December 11, 2020, with President Muhammadu Buhari present in Kastina, a gang of bandits invaded the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara LGA of the state. The assailants roved into the school compound on motorcycles, shooting sporadically into the air before abducting 344 students — with the president just 188km away.

JANGEBE WILL BE THE LAST’
On February 26, 2021, in Jangebe, a town in Talata-Mafara LGA of Zamfara state, 279 students of the Government Girls Secondary School in the area were abducted by bandits.

The girls were freed on March 2 through the help of repentant bandits, according to the state government.

Leading the federal government’s delegation to the state after the girls’ release, Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, said the president promised that the incident would be the last school adoption the nation would witness under his administration.

DETERMINED TO SECURE NIGERIA
But it wasn’t to be as just a few days later, on March 12, 2021, gunmen attacked the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi LGA of Kaduna state, and abducted 29 students.

The students were not released until May 5 – seven weeks later – after they were reportedly ransomed, courtesy of a pool of contributions from the victims’ parents.

BUHARI APPEALING TO BANDITS
On April 18, 2021, another group of bandits abducted students from Greenfield University, Kaduna.

The assailants requested N800 million as ransom, and when their demands were not met early enough, they killed five of the students, further threatening to kill more.

On May 5, after the students had spent weeks in the den of their kidnappers, Buhari switched tactics and appealed to the bandits “for the release of the students of the Greenfield University and all other citizens held in captivity”.

‘NEW METHODS ARE YIELDING GOOD RESULTS’
The bandits sure did not heed his plea because another attack happened on July 8. Thirty-five people were killed when gunmen attacked five communities in Maradun LGA of Zamfara state.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the communities on over 90 motorcycles — and also set houses ablaze.

SWIFT JUSTICE’ IN PLATEAU
At least 22 people were killed while 14 others sustained injuries when suspected hoodlums attacked buses conveying worshippers to Ondo state on August 14, 2021.

WE NEED NIGERIANS’ SUPPORT TO END THIS EVIL’
Not less than 23 travellers were killed when gunmen opened fire on a bus at Gidan Bawa village in Isa LGA of Sokoto state on December 8.

Reacting to the incident in a statement signed by Femi Adesina, presidential spokesperson, Buhari called for the support of Nigerians in curbing the menace of the banditry
WE’LL SMOKE OUT THE CRIMINALS’
From the late evening of January 5 to the early hours of the following day, gunmen invaded about five communities in Bukkuyum and Anka LGAs of Zamfara state, killing over 200 villagers and setting many houses ablaze.

Reacting, Buhari described the incident as an “act of desperation by mass murderers” who are “under relentless pressure” from the military.

I’LL TACKLE THIS MONSTER DECISIVELY’

On March 5, over 60 vigilantes were ambushed and killed by gunmen in some communities of Sakaba/Wassagu LGA of Kebbi state.

According to a resident, “When they first came, they kidnapped people and stole cattle. The members of the community started shouting ‘thieves’ after the bandits had left, and the vigilantes immediately mobilised and went after the bandits to rescue the kidnapped victims and stolen cattle.

WE’LL DEAL WITH THEM RUTHLESSLY’

Om Monday night, a daring gang of bandits ambushed a moving train while it was a few minutes away from the Kaduna station.

According to Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said 362 passengers boarded the train and eight of them have been confirmed dead.
And I ask Will Kaduna train attack truly be the turning point in the war against terror?

ISTANBUL/KYIV OUTSKIRTS/MARIUPOL (Reuters) - ISTANBUL/KYIV OUTSKIRTS/MARIUPOL, Ukraine, March 29 (Reuters) - As a confidence-building measure, Russia vowed on Tuesday to reduce military activities surrounding Kyiv and northern Ukraine, the most clear sign yet of progress toward negotiating an end to the war.

Ukraine suggested neutral status in the most precise formula yet for a possible end to the five-week war during negotiations at a palace in Istanbul.

"A decision was made to increase mutual trust and create the necessary conditions for further negotiations and achieving the ultimate goal of agreeing and signing (an) agreement in order to increase mutual trust and create the necessary conditions for further negotiations and achieving the ultimate goal of agreeing and signing (an) agreement."

The Presidency has condemned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its latest attack on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

The PDP claimed in a statement on Sunday that the election of Abdullahi Adamu, the former governor of Nasarawa State, as the APC's national chairman would deepen corruption and economic hardship in the country.
The "imposition of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a man who was arraigned in Court on 149 counts of alleged fraudulent award of contracts and stealing of public funds estimated at N15 billion, as its National Chairman," according to a statement by the PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, was proof that the APC cannot fight corruption.

Politics / Wike Insist On Rivers VAT by Alozie21(m): 5:54pm On Sep 08, 2021
In June N15.1bn was collected as taxes in Rivers State but N4.7bn was given to Rivers State, N46.4bn was collected from Lagos State but Lagos was given N9.3bn.
Kano generated N2.8bn and was given N2.8bn
Have you seen the injustice in this Country ? I will not be Governor forever, it's not about me but about the system.
Let the right thing be done.

Politics / How Rivers Governor Wike’s VAT Law Sets A New Precedent For Abuja by Alozie21(m): 2:21pm On Sep 08, 2021
The controversy playing out in Nigeria over Governor Nyesom Wike's new value-added tax (VAT) law in Rivers State is not so much about the expected earnings from the tax, but rather about how other states will respond. The law has brought back the debate about restructuring in Nigeria and some see it as a wake-up call for states to become more independent of Abuja.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in southern Nigeria recently took a step that might just change the status quo in Africa’s most populous country.

He signed a law allowing the administration of VAT following a court judgement that ruled that the state – not the Nigerian government – should collect such tax. The matter is still playing out in the court where the government-led Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has filed an appeal.

But this is not just an arcane move about a complicated tax procedure. It touches on a volcanic argument: who runs Nigeria, the centre or the states? How should Nigeria’s wealth be shared? And more obliquely, whether the South should subsidise the North; a complex of issues known in Nigeria shorthand as ‘restructuring’.
