What some of us do not and refuse to understand is that any man/woman who goes about trying to find fault with other peoples biliefs is in his/her own right trying to cover up the inadequacies of his/her own belief. christians accept Christ for who He is and in the same vein Moslems accept The Great Prophet for who he is.why judge another man's belief? doing that is a sign of weakness. If you believe you are in the right path, live your life in such a way that others may want to eemulate you. So far based on your comments you have proven that you are not worth emulating. You also need to be careful of what you say and when you say it because you never know what might happen.
I only quoted the Bible - and the Bible alone - to butress my assertions. If you are not comfortable with the verses quoted, why not delete them and publish your own version (Omolola Revised Standard Version) of the Bible, as did King James and the others? grin grin grin

a joke. quoting 1995 figures.
Joshjosh, this is no joke. I only used 1995 statistics to show you that the sign of the churches' impending death emerged years back and from the very source that brought the religion to you grin .

Ofcourse if you need more current data, I've come across millions. Try these:

A Chapel Converted int Modern Apartment:
The decline in church attendance over the last several decades has meant that countless churches across the Netherlands have lost their function. They are crumbling, are demolished, or are put to new uses,

State of the Canadian Church in 2008:
Church attendance in Canada is declining rapidly. Atheism is rising. Christian moral values are being replaced by secular ones. Canada is no longer a Christian nation, and Canadian Christians will soon be a persecuted minority

Statistics are now confirming something common sense already told us; most people stay home on Sundays rather than attending church worship services.

The decline in Church attendance recorded over the past 40 years of Sunday Mass

and actions to strengthen our Catholic faith.

@therationa and joshjosh

therationa:
Well, if I had my way, these churches should be left to die out naturally. They do very little but promote ignorance to poor, simple and sometimes credulous people.
joshjosh:
thank God you will never have your way. the church of God is always marching on and the gates of hell never prevails against it.
Joshjosh, don't be too quick to thank your God on this issue. Without realising it, Therationa has had his way, way back and the momentum is still gathering. Those who exported the Bible to us have already SEEN the LIGHT and are retracing their steps. Today, fewer and fewer people (mainly the aged) in the Developed & More Enlightened Societies attend churches and the tithe seekers are already desperate grin grin

Below are just two, out of hundreds of self confessions by church organisations:

1.
Church attendance across denominational lines has suffered a five-year decline and has sunk to its lowest level in two decades, according to research by the Barna Research Group of Glendale, California. "From the early '80s to the early '90s, there has been a definite change," said Bruce Hose, who was director of Sunday school programs for the 1-million-member Alabama Baptist Convention from 1985 to 1995. "Not only has attendance gone down but it is a graying culture, a graying congregation."
Details @http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1058/is_n26_v113/ai_18720688

2.
Mount Pleasant church cries for help. Years of decline in attendance has wrecked havoc on programming, finances, and morale. , Mount Pleasant is not alone. 70% of churches in America are plateaued or in decline.

the Christian doctrine does not apply to you. By all means continue as al'lah's slave.
Does it really apply to you? Check these:

Matthew 10:5-6

5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.

6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
For Emphasis, read Matthew 15:21-25

21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.

22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession."

23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us."

24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."

25 The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said.

26 He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." grin
Considering the fact that you are DEFINITELY not of the lost sheep of Israel, in which category does the last quoted verse above place you? grin grin grin grin grin

So isn't it better to be a slave to even SANGO? At least SANGO would dignify you as HUMAN! cool wink

You are my Man of the Year 2008 wink.

However, your motivation (to REJECT WITH FIRE, some of the words from your Bible) apparently came from the realisation that your cheap source of income is being threatened, for you sound like those Con Pastors who underdevelop gullible people by collecting 10% of their hard earned gross income in the name of tithe  angry angry angry.

lets for one second even forget about Adam's sins. . . .the next question is this: Have you Alphazee sinned or not?
The on only reason I pray at all is to show gratitude to MY GOD for all His blessings on me and to forgive whatever sin I must have committed (knowingly or unknowingly), not because I inherited any sin. cool

Assuming I agree that Adam, created by God had committed sin on my behalf and the same God (who created Adam, the sinner) had sent someone (Jesus) to die for me because I unjustly inherited Adam's sin, is the equation not balanced? Why then would I need to pray? grin grin grin grin
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity A Religion Or Just A Way Of Life? by Alphazee(f): 2:23pm On Feb 27, 2008
@dafidixone
But Christianity is a way of life of Jesus Christ that He (Jesus ) Commanded.
Shallom!
If the above is correct, then there are hardly any Christians in Nigeriangoing by what Jesus had commanded:

[Mat 19:21] Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
[Mark 10:21] Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
The Pastors or Church leaders are more of CON MEN out milk the populace (both rich and the poor) in the name of the Holy Spirit, in order to build or buy Mansions, Estates, Private Jets and send their children to choice schools at home and abroad.
They are quick to quote the Old Testament (OT) when it comes to tithes and offerings but when it comes to other issues, they'll tell you the OT is no longer valid!

As to the rest of the flock, I'm yet to see those willing to sell their properties and give the proceeds to the poor. grin grin grin

When you brought up the issue of sickle cell anaemia, I only tried to point out that it is a lesser evil compared to the concept of Original Sin. That the former gives some room for escape, while the latter is a total trap. I didn't justify the creation of sicklers. Hence I wonder your target of attack when you wrote the following:

Thanks to genetics, 50yrs ago there was no warning for people carrying the AS gene.
Who created the people with the AS gene? Me huh

That means we've had centuries of people dying from sickle cell disease without warning.
Who created and killed the sicklers for centuries? Me huh

Isn't that unjust too?
Whom do you blame for the INJUSTICE? Me huh

My dear . . . one of the attributes of the enemy is to deceive and twist scripture.

But as in Adam, ALL have sinned. Total condemnation!! Plenty of warnings! ONE OPTION.

It is up to you.
No. It is up to you! I WASN'T BORN A SINNER, because I believe
Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin. Deut. 24:16
I didn't twist the scripture. I quoted verses as they are in your Bible (although I don't know which VERSION you read) grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Was Hung In A Tree - Not A Cross! by Alphazee(op): 5:16pm On Feb 26, 2008
In order to increase the prestige of the apostate ecclesiastical system pagans were received into the churches apart from regeneration by faith, and were permitted largely to retain their pagan signs and symbols. Hence the Tau or T, in its most frequent form, with the cross-piece lowered, was adopted to stand for the cross of Christ.'' -An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words (London, 1962), W. E. Vine, p. 256.
So the Cross was adapted from pagans! grin
Christianity EtcRe: Does This Make Me An Unbeliever? by Alphazee(op): 6:17pm On Feb 25, 2008
@4him
This is the fundamental aspect of christianity and i'm not surprised that mus'lims, atheists attack this so virulently. For as long as they REJECT this they will likewise perish!
The origin of sin is very similar to genetics today . . . if your parents are both AS one of their children will be SS . . . now was that the fault of the child . . . infact that is so unjust that I also reject it . . .
Pls note that when 2 people have the sickle cell trait (AS), they are forewarned and don't have to marry or procreate. Therefore they will have no kids with sickle cell anemia (they have an option).

Even when they go ahead procreate, statistically, each child has: a 25 percent chance of inheriting two normal genes; a 50 percent chance of inheriting one normal gene and one abnormal gene; and a 25 percent chance of inheriting two abnormal genes (only 1 in 4 may be a sickler).

But as in Adam, All Have Sinned. Total condemnation!! No warnings, no options grin

@imhotep
Good question. But you are guilty of this same thing you are complaining about.

Examples ->
1) One Hausa man in your class in not interested in his books. You conclude that ALL Hausas must be poorly educated.
2) One Yoruba man dissapoints you somewhere. You conclude that ALL Yorubas are unreliable.
3) One Igbo man cheats you in the market. You conclude that ALL Igbos must be cheats.

Do u feel mehuh
No I don't feel you at all! In what way am I guilty? You only exposed your own prejudices about the Hausa, Yoruba and Ibo. Why attribute them to me? I'm not as narrow-minded grin

This biblical verse sounds logical:

Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin. Deut. 24:16

I ACCEPT that. Does that make me a believer?

On the other hand, Christianity emphasises and relies so much on the concept of "Original Sin" :

"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,, "Rom. 5:19

"For as in Adam all die, , "1Cor. 15:22

This is so unjust that I REJECT IT!!

Did I create or could I control Adam? How could I, for no fault of mine be condemned right from birth?

The concept of Original Sin is to merely to justify why Jesus had to be Murdered by being hung on a tree cry

Does that make me an unbeliever? huh

it rather very ridiculous that we talk the issue of religion like this. I wouldn't want to start taking points ut of earlier threads but the issue is @poster what do u know of the religion u follow, i suppose the answer is going to be "i am an atheist" but how and in what form did u become made, don't forget atheist before you, on their dying bed, confessed Jesus Christ to be Lord. Don't be fooled.
Your religion was founded based on injustice:

"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,, "Rom. 5:19
"For as in Adam all die, , "1Cor. 15:22
(Did you create or could you control Adam?)

For no fault of yours, so you were condemned right from birth. So are your children yet unborn cry

On the other hand, the religion I follow is a just religion: I wasn't born a sinner but if I sin, I'll pay wink
Your Bible even supports me:
Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin. Deut. 24:16

The concept of Original Sin is to merely to justify why Jesus had to be Murdered by being hung on a tree grin
