Business / Re: Tell Your Pfas to Convert Your Balances To Dollars by alwayzonlyn(m): 8:13am On Sep 09
Hmmmmm...good suggestion but a tall order in a country like ours with insensitive, selfish & greedy leaders.

The PFAs would rather prefer to do business for themselves with this idea by secretly converting your funds with them to (& saving them in) dollars, then converting it back to naira when they're to pay you, thereby making huge gain for themselves in the process.

God help Naija & Nigerians

He said majority of those protesting are not affected by the recent increase in tariff??

He didn't take into account the fact that affected businesses & enterprises will eventually pass down the ripple effect of this hike in tariff to their customers (via increase in price of goods and services), who are mostly the poor & middle class which these protesters belong to.

You see the way our so-called leaders think??

God help us o

Naira appreciating is a good development; I really hope definite measures to sustain this stride are put in place else, the government will become a laughing stock after all the media fuss about this gain.

But why do I feel like the government is doing everything possible to push down the dollar rate as low as possible before the minimum wage negotiation committee begin to meet with labour, since labour unions are using the dollar rate as a yardstick to put out their proposed minimum wage amounts? grin

Did I just read that they retired since 2009 & payment of their gratuity got approved in 2024, about 15 years after retirement? shocked

This is purely inhumane; most of our leaders have dead conscience.

Anyway, better late than never. Well-done Gov Obaseki.
Car Talk / Re: Let's Talk About Automatic Transmission Fluid (gear Oil) by alwayzonlyn(m): 1:17pm On Mar 11
Fujiyama:

^^^
As long as 0w/20 or 5w/20 was being used in the car before then you shouldn't have any problems going back to it. Most problems start when a different viscosity (usually an incorrect one) was being used in the vehicle for a long period, the engine has sludge issues etc. and then the owner suddenly switches the oil viscosity. If this is your situation then things will probably not end well.

I assume the engine isn't consuming oil? My reason for asking is that some experienced car owners may recommend switching to a 'heavier' wieght or higher viscosity oil when an engine is old and consuming oil. Other than that, take my advice given about sticking to manufacturer specified viscosity.

Yeah, I've been using Ow-20 since I got the vehicle & never had any issues. The engine runs fine & never shorts oil.

However, I also never wanted ignoring the advise I got from people, reason why I came online to seek clarification.

Going forward, I'll stick with the recommended Ow-20.

Thank you once again for your kind depositions & guidance.

Health / Re: JAPA: No More Leave Of Absence For Health Workers Relocating Abroad – FG by alwayzonlyn(m): 9:12am On Mar 10
Sangoamadioha1:

It is a free world, if you want to japa, please do so but resign first so that those without the opportunity to japa will replace you.
We all know the cause and the solutions, so what you are saying is not new. While we wait and see if things will get better, those with opportunity to relocate should do that so that more spaces will be opened for employment.

PS - I'm not in anyway supporting individuals who take up permanent employment elsewhere without first resigning from their previous place of work. And nothing in my write-ups has suggested such.

I get your view and believe me everyone knows what you are talking about but the topic under discussion is different from your argument.
This topic is about not giving leave of absence so that those that have japa will not be collecting salaries from FG again and thereby free space for the unemployed. Is that so hard to understand

It's okay, if you insist on your view.

I however see that we're still not ready to address this issue from the root but only interested in the continuous palliation of an already crumbling system. We'll only keep going round a vicious cycle until the day we're ready to "call a spade a spade".

As always, I wish Nigeria well.

This report is not about that. They are trying to address ghost workers in the system so as to create space for the more people.
What you are saying up there is a topic for another day and definitely not on the subject of this thread.

Lol

Like the government, you're also shying away from the ROOT CAUSE that make majority of these workers even apply for the leave of absence in the first place. You & I know that in over 80% of cases, the reason is to seek for greener pasture elsewhere. In essence, if the system is well funded & conducive enough for these workers to stay back in, there wouldn't be any need for majority of the people leaving under this guise to do so.
Cause & effect are actually inseparable if we're genuinely seeking a LASTING solution to this protracted menace.

I hope you get my point of view now...
