1. Archives from the Vanguard News Paper November 17, 2010 Between ASUU and South-East governors IT is no longer news that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) South-East Zone, have been locked in a battle with the South-East Governors of Nigeria. They closed State-owned universities of that geo-political zone of our country in August this year. Their grouse: demand that their salaries and allowances be made to be at par with those of their counterparts who teach in Federal Government-owned universities. undefined0.00 / 0.00 They have cited an agreement purportedly reached by the Federal Government and the national body of their union when the latter went on strike in 2009. But it will be recalled that the Government in the wake of the resolution of the crisis which attended the said strike, had warned lecturers in state-owned and private universities against using their agreement as a benchmark, advising them to go negotiate with the various state-governments and proprietors of private universities who employed them. Since the advent of the strike action of South-East ASUU members and the attendant closure by them of the universities in this zone, the various state governments of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi have made several attempts to appease the lecturers without luck. Under the aegis of the South-East Governors Forum, Governors Theodore Orji, Peter Obi (Chairman of the forum), Sullivan Chime, Ikedi Ohakim and Martin Elechi had met several times and issued communiqués, explaining to the lecturers that they are handicapped by inadequate funds. They also resolved to handle the matter at their various individual State levels – a decision which, in fairness to the lecturers, they did not oppose. In the case of Anambra State, for instance, Governor Peter Obi in a good month, receives about N2 billion from the Federal Allocation. Out of this sum, about one billion, seven hundred million Naira goes into overheads (payment of salaries and other inevitable expenses). It is from the N3 million left that he fixes roads, provides for healthcare, etc. Because resources are quite paltry here (Anambra is not yet an oil-producing state; oil-producing states receive much higher sums as monthly Federal Allocation), he has drastically, since 2006 (when he assumed office) cut short the cost of governance. Little wonder that he earns much less than his fellow governors, pays much less to his political appointees and civil servants, travels light and hurries to return to Awka each time he travels out so his out-of-station allowances do not soar, etc. Yet he has demonstrated in action and words that he is committed to improving education and the lot of stakeholders in that sector. In concrete terms, he has built more structures in both Uli and Igbariam campuses of the Anambra State University (ANSU), a university the interest of which past governors of Anambra State had neglected even as they struggled to take her campuses to their bedrooms in their towns of origin. Related News Redefining the fundamentals of legislation 5 Years On: Gov Abiodun - An epitome of accountability, purposeful leadership Oluremi Tinubu: A sweet relief In Igbariam campus of ANSU, Governor Obi, among other things, built the Law Faculty from the scratch – a faculty which has been adjudged as the best in the whole of the South-East zone. He has also added a library to the faculty. In addition, he has built and equipped the Department of Mass Communication and innumerable other structures. The Uli Campus has also received its fair share of transformation. Numerous structures have sprung up there. They include the Anatomy and Biochemistry buildings and three houses at the Faculty of Engineering , among others. What is more, Governor Obi has increased the university’s subvention. Welcome We could not find in the vocabulary of English language a word which most appropriately expresses our deep feeling of joy for your presence on this occasion coming from all directions, North, South, East and West, travelling various distances to honour our invitation, than the same word of seven letters — WELCOME. Your Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, we love you and cherish you and your presence. On behalf of the University Community, I respectfully welcome you to our University. I respectfully welcome our Royal fathers and traditional chiefs. I welcome all our guests unnamed yet recognized in their various positions in life and society. 2. The Unique Nature Of The 5 Convocation Ceremony This Convocation, though constituted like the previous ones for the Award of degrees and certificates, is interwoven with academic fanfare and social conviviality reminiscent of our traditional commensality which the past Convocations did not enjoy. It is a Convocation which, by the act of history and the action of the Divinity, was designed to be a Convocation with a difference. The difference is underscored by the realities of the historical moment. This is a Convocation adorned by many firsts. This fifth Convocation of the University is the first Convocation to be held in this Campus on a hill top. It is the first Convocation of the University that is being held in the month of March. It is the first Convocation during which the graduands will participate in their Convocation ceremony and receive their certificates before proceeding to the National Youth Service. It is the first Convocation under its new name, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, and indeed the first Convocation which our amiable Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, is presiding over as Visitor to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. It is the first convocation attended by the President of Nigeria, His Excellency President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. It is yet the first Convocation in which the Royal fathers from within and outside the State, who are arraigned in colourful royal regalia, are gracing. It is the first time that a serving Governor is awarded the Doctorate Degree, Honoris Causa, of the University whether under the new or old name. 3. The Structure And The Location Of The University This University is a three Campus institution brought into being by law and by different political philosophies, namely; Uli, Igbariam and Awka. The land on which this Campus is sited was donated by the people of Igbariam. It was all a thick forest, a semi jungle inhabited by wild animals. So it was until the present Administration of Anambra State led by the indefatigable Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, swung into action and transformed this jungle into a modern University Campus in potentia. The Igbariam Campus covers about 2 kilometers on both sides of the road sharing borders with Igbariam, Umudioka-Awkuzu, Ukwulu and Nando. It is the home of the famous farm settlement of Eastern Region fame. The land is fertile and rich. 4. Infrastructural Development It is in this Campus that we are holding the 5th Convocation of the University. This Convocation Arena, located on a platform raised by nature, affords the Anambra people and others outside the State the opportunity to know this part of the State, to see government at work and in action in this place and to entertain your senses with the beauty of nature that stretches all around the Campus. It is in the interest of parents and guardians to know and see the environment in which their children are receiving University education. At Uli Campus, where science-based courses, including Engineering, are located a state of the arts Engineering Faculty building, to be equipped with most modem engineering facilities, is already taking off. An ultra modem research laboratory with modern equipment is being sited at Uli too. Already the College of Medicine and the Teaching Hospital of the University are now objects of admiration as you view the edifices from the expressway at Awka. In the next twelve months or thereabouts the first set of medical doctors will emerge from our College of Medicine with full certification from the Medical and Dental Council of..Nigeria. On this Campus, moving in line with history, a state of the arts Faculty of Agriculture with modem research facilities, is being sited. This Campus will also house the Institute of Petroleum Studies and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. https://www.coou.edu.ng/downloads/vcconvocationaddress.pdf 3. Nigeria: Obi Presents N5 Billion Cheque for Varsity's Infrastructure Devt. Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State yesterday renamed the Anambra State University as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, during the posthumous anniversary celebration of the 80th birthday of Ojukwu at the permanent site of the university at Igbariam. I think some of my Yoruba brother attack Peter Obi, not by reason but purely on hatred. This news stated that Peter Obi built the university from scratch. What would it take for you to get behind the wheel of an electric car? I mean… really, really want to drive one… A charging time faster than it takes to fill a tank of gas? 1,000 miles on a single charge? Batteries that never — EVER — need to be replaced? How about an average retail price of under 5M Naira (yes, for a car you’d actually WANT to drive)? Well, what if I told you there’s a new technology that not only makes everything mentioned here possible, but could be on the road in as little as the next 12 months? Insiders are already saying this breakthrough could finally set us free from the scourge of fossil fuels… The U.S. Department of Energy is calling it a “paradigm shift” in energy technology. Business Insider: “A death blow to lithium-ion batteries” Some are even calling it the “Quantum Battery.” When you see what this breakthrough is capable of, you’ll probably have a hard time believing what you are seeing is real At the heart of this revolution, one tiny company — less than 1/1000th the size of General Motors — is gearing up to drive the commercialization of this technology… https://principia-scientific.org/the-quantum-glass-battery-hype/

This is not encouraging, especially for parents that have made huge investment and sacrifice to provide for their education. The reason for this massive failure is not farfetched. Students have abandoned the reading culture of ?burning the mid-night oil?. They are now seriously distracted by TV, and their smart phones. It is very difficult to get them read their physical books. They rather prefer to play with their phones. This does not need the internet to operate, so it does not place any extra financial burden upon the student. As the teachings go on, the student has total control of his time and learning speed, a powerful tool which he has no control of in the classroom, for fear of looking dumb, by asking his teacher to repeat or slow down to enable him understand a new concept. He can pause the lecture when he wants. If he is sent on an errand, he can stop the lecture and won?t miss anything. He can repeat a line of instruction if he so wishes. He can pick the subjects he finds most difficult in classroom and repeat the video tutorials as many times as he wants. The power of this approach is that the student no longer sees teaching and learning as one boring classroom exercise, but an exciting educational game which absolute control he has. amaechi2020:JOS RESIDENTS ON ALERT AS NEWS OF 10,500 MILITIA SENT TO ATTACK PLATEAU, OTHERS STATE LEAKED (NOTE: only a fool says in his heart, Nnamdi Kanu is not a prophet of God. For he foretold this many years past) Former Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, Yahaya Kwande and member representing Jos North north constituency in the Plateau House of Assembly, Baba Hassan have been fingered as having contributed to the success of an impending jihad in Plateau and four other states. An unconfirmed letter to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, leaked and shared by a security source also lists efforts by a Plateau based businessman, Dan China and top security heads towards the religious cleansing. According to the document, 10,500 militia men have been deployed to Plateau, Benue, Bauchi, Kaduna and Taraba with 1,700 rifles and several sacks of ammunitions. It says, “Those we deployed to Jos have spread to every Village So also Makurdi and Kaduna. Taraba and Bauchi. “To those in Makurdi, we supplied them with twelve (12) sacks of ammunition. Police authorities have not commented on the threat despite an enquiry. However, a chat with a security source suggested that investigations are on into the issue. The full document reads: We are happy over what we heard. which our Leader have spoken of which General Akilu M. and Hafeez Ringim. Chief of Air Staff Sadiq Abubakar and General Buratai (Chief of Army Staff) and Danbazau {Minister of Interior): and Mansur Dan Ali [Minister of Defence). Abubakar {former Inspector General Of Police}. and Bosses of Custom and Immigration and our Traditional Rulers, Emirs). They said we should continue. that all of them are solidly behind us to defend us. so long as it is Jihad we are doing. That no One would touch us. All our States (to States that are predominantly Muslims) are now united without sectarial differences of Islamic Groups. we are telling you the exploits our leaders are doing of which at all times they are giving us Vehicles and also protect us. We have seen the message sent to us by the Custom Boss: he gave us twentyfive (25) Hilux. of which Alh Abuhakar Zaki Duniya received them in Katstna and brought them to Maiduguri And in Jos Dan China gave us Ten [10) Vectra 8 together With military Uniforms. This is how the enemy is planning to do his worst against believers in Nigeria pls don't just read pray against this Agenda if you can fast do so. lets remain in the spirit of intercession, Let God arise & let His enemies be scattered. psalm 68:1. However, if you choose not to believe Sir/Ma, please remember it is too late to cry when the head is off. Let's cry to God now for urgent divine intervention. God bless you. Footnote: Do you still doubt Nnamdi Kanu. Only Biafra can save all those trapped in the Islamic cauldron of death called Nigeria. Resist Islamic jihad now or perish. |
· Kanu Warned You People Danruwa Ya-Kaduna Wrote: I could remember vividly when the young vibrant man from the Eastern part of Nigeria, an Intelligent freedom fighter, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. I could remember when he started the campaign to raise awareness of the oncoming Fulani cattle dominance and genocide, the people distanced themselves from him and called him names, most especially the people of Benue State. This man was arrested and jailed for almost 3 years for spilling out the truth to Nigerians, He realized that Truth is totally not accepted in the country, the foundation to which Britain built the country was on lies. He also called the people Monkeys and baboons because the people were short-sighted they were very lazy intellectually to see the impending doom before them. Then he called the country Nigeria a zoo and a cattle republic, so many frowned at it and wanted him killed simply because he told them that they are reared like animals in the zoo and not bonafide citizens of a country like anywhere else in the world. But after many things gone bad, lives lost then it started to glimpse fact and clear picture to the eyes of Nigerians that they are in one hell of a big mess. Today we in other parts of Africa countries are still asking the Nigerian Military to give account and provide this man, Nnamdi Kanu is another Pan-Africanist, a savior sent to redeem the people, 80% of Africans became eye opened on the coming of Nnamdi Kanu. We collectively as Africans are aware that our suffering is as a result of the fact that we still have a colonial and western structure in our land and our systems. We still have their representatives in the place of Old and analog leaders who are set before us to bring us down and set us backward. It is time for Africans to change their destinies in whatever way it may cost. lives were lost to build Europe and America and China, that is why you see development in those regions. The old men holding Africa down needs to go down and their colonial slave masters and every system brought to us needs immediate deportations. The FULANIS are on Arab errand mission to conquer the richest part of Africa and take over it in preparation for Arab invasion. the same thing happen in Egypt, Turkey Morocco including Tunisia and Libya these places were dominated black race countries but today look at it. If Nigerians do not act with immediate effect the death may knock on your door tonight.
