Poems For ReviewRe: Poems That Tell A Story... by amberacious: 5:45am On Feb 08, 2013
sad lyk we ve sometin in common....... Great poem! Nyc one!

sigmundfreud: from THE OTHER SIDE OF ME
Love stuck
(Love, unrequited, robs me of my rest-WS Gilbert)

You must mention this to no one
There was this girl I had a crush on
And so many must have felt the same
So I set out to lay a claim.
*********
I really should have given up
But there was no way I could stop
She really was a pretty dame
And has a wildness you’d want to tame.
********
But everytime I had a chance to speak
My strength is drained and I feel weak
My brain chooses then to shut down
And I’d end up sounding like a clown.
*********
Always want to say how I feel
But I’ll sure sound like a fool
While I was burning and fighting my will
There she is, always nice and cool.
**********
I said a crush but it’s a lie
(It’s not easy to admit but I’ll try)
It was more than that, I was in love
I see her as the earth beneath and sky above.
*********
All those time I couldn’t eat
I’d turn and turn without sleep
Then walk around, stand and sit
I never knew I’d fallen so deep.
**********
I’d go for a walk alone at night
Heart and head in constant fight
And all the time that I roam
-Ed, I’d imagine me and her in Rome.
**********
“You never know until you ask”
So I set out for the great task
All I had was a bit of courage
And I rode it like a carriage.
*********
At last, words came out of my mouth
That I‘d like to ask her out
She told me plain and straight
I was about a year late.
**********
I never knew from where the strength came
I took it all without a wince
Though I’ve never been quite the same
I’ve been waiting ever since.

My Boko Haram Story

In memory of those that lost their lives on christmas day 25th Dec 2011 and 2012. This is a call for peace from amberacious poems!!!

You might have heard of our activities in far and near
But this is a story you will want to hear
It happened sometimes last year
And today i tell of it with no fear

I've been on the street since my childhood
Where destinies are determined by the neighbourhood
Growing up was hell with no means of livelihood
So my turning to a monster was a certainty not a likelihood

My mum was stoned to death for being a prostitute
Then i was just 5, how could i bear the loss with fortitude
In my hopeless state i joined the Al-majiris, the destitudes
Where i developed my merciless attitude

Mustafa was a friend i used to know as mallam
He introduced me to a sect called Boko Haram
He said they are the true descendant of father Abraham
Little did i know that they are out to slaughter people like Sallah ram

My initiation was for a sole aim: to brainwash
In my training i was taught not to kill for cash
That at my death paradise will throw me a bash
I can still remember all these as if in a flash

My first assignment was to an area to comb
The next was to a church to plant a bomb
With the intention of sending the worshippers to the tomb
Sparing no one, not even the unborn in the womb

But i was moved by the preacher's sermon
I had this strange feeling that was so uncommon
Soon the preacher made an alter summon
On that day i let go my personal demon

At my confession i was arrested for terrorism, a crime next to treason
For my past deeds and my intention at the christmas season
Though my ugly background may give me reasons
I was later charged to court and sentenced to prison

Once Bitten Twice Shy

Last year val was supposed to be special for me and my former miss
As my pocket was loaded with returns from a business deal with a swiss
My intention was to treat her to an heavenly bliss
And maybe steal from her lips a 'love you' kiss

As there was no parking space in her apartment, I parked at the next block
Walked to her door and decided that day not to knock
With the key in my hand, the door wasn't hard to unlock
Only for me to open the door to a scene that gave me a shock

My plan was to give her a surprise visit, I never meant to intrude
But lying on the bed was my val and a strange guy, both completely nude
I looked closer at the guy it was like I knew the dude
Ofcourse, he was the guy she told me was her cousin called Jude

At that point it was clear that all what she told me were not true
How could I be so foolish to have no clue
My love was blind but her betrayal removed the glue
Or was it nemesis that decided her time was due

With this year val at the corner she came begging that I should forgive and forget
She swore that she has changed and to that, her life she can bet
She told me she still loves me and reminded me of how we met
But in a situation like this, once bitten twice shy is what you get

amberacious: The Mysterious Girl

As I drove down the street, I noticed this girl with this mysterious look
She dressed like one of these Togolese immigrants hired as a cook
She looked mysteriously lost like she was in a hook.
My guess was, either something was taken from her or there was something she unlawfully took

I slowed down to take a closer look as I changed my gears
I noticed her skin was bruised, her clothes torn showing her underwears
I could see in her eyes cloud of tears
I wanted to park but the hoodlums around her were my fears

I pondered on this mysterious girl as I continued my journey
There were only two possibilities: one, that this girl stole some money
The other, that some hoodlums molested her and forcefully took from her honey
Which ever one, the girl definitely at that moment needed an attorney

A scene like this is not strange in my neighbourhood
Where people are seen hustling to make livelihood
Kids grow up here without experiencing good parenthood
My submission is, this mysterious girl is another likelihood

An amberacious version of 'HOPE' by Tgirl4real
And here is the original version by Tgirl4real:

HOPE

I saw a young girl crying
Around the busy streets of Obalende
Two street miscreants held her hands on each side
One had his trouser half way with a mischievous grin on his face
They tried to pacify her

The girl was looking tattered
With no panties underneath the long top she wore
All manner of thoughts ran through my mind

What have they done to her, I wondered
Could it be...
No! It hope not!
I hate to think about it

I couldn't get her tear-stained eyes off my mind for days
I couldn't help but wonder why she was crying
Was she lost?
Was she molested?

I don't wanna think about it

The Girlfriend I Never Had

I could remember the whole incident without any effort
On that fateful day I went to the school's cafeteria to find my stomach its comfort
With the intention that my breakaway from the protest will be brief and short
Only for my eyes to be caught up with an angelic beauty of some sort

Sitting alone on a table for two was this girl, the exact girl of my dream
Innocently having a peaceful lunch: potato chips and a cup of ice cream
She seemed far away as if she was at the other end of the stream
Will you be my girlfriend my heart wanted to scream

I walked towards her but before I was close enough
The peaceful protest outside started to turn rough
The police shot tear gas in the air, everywhere was tensed and tough
People ran helter skelter raising dust, I guess that made her cough

Then the real shooting began and everyone became scared
I offered her my hand as a gesture that I cared
She looked into my eyes and I guess she saw that even death at that moment I dared
Though in the corner of my heart I prayed that we could be spared

As we ran for cover I asked for her name
Only to look up and saw she wasn't the same
Till today no one know from where the bullet came
But it went straight to her heart and she gave up within the shortest time frame

There were reports that at that point I actually went mad
Justifying the few days I spent in the psychiatric ward.....yes it was that bad
Though today makes it a year ago; remembering the whole incident still makes me sad
Because I helplessly watched the girl of my dream die as the girlfriend I never had

The ugly beauty

When she was born she was named Mabel
But in her neighbourhood she was known as Jezebel
People say her way of life earned her this label
Because at every law of modesty she would always rebel

She was just a girl but she was on fire
Whenever she was on the street, boys could not but admire
Her possessed what the greedy men desire
If only she knew that beauty fades and hers will soon expire

She used her beauty as decoy
To lure every greedy man and lusting boy
She broke many homes, destroying their source of joy
She was a master player that dealt with her victim as mere toy

Recently i met with Mr Shina her ex
Who will forever remember what she took from him just for sex
He lost his marriage, his job and duplex
And his simple life turned complicated and complex

At age eighteen, she should have being a mother of seven
But all these gifts of union she heartlessly sent back to heaven
Soon her cup became full with sins unforgiven
Nemesis chose it was time to make even.

She didn't know this abortion will be her last
She fought to stay alive but it was her life against the ones she killed in the past
In the end she was banished to the land of the dead as an outcast
Though I knew her time was running out, i didn't know it would be this fast.

The untamed

I watched as his mother in tears offered him a meatpie
He was too weak to eat and in pains tried to lie
Only his mother was with him to tighten the family tie
She had this look " God please don't let him die."

For days his body has been burning hot with fever
And has been in painful distress as his body continue to shiver
He has convulsed many times recently than ever
And has had different medications flooded into his system like a river

I was thinking he had an infection caused by some bacteria
Because his clinical presentation met up with the criteria
Checking his folder i was dumb folded :"malaria"
Another culprit of child morbidity and mortality in Nigeria

Few minutes later i had a scream
I rushed to the sight spilling my ice cream
Only to meet the mother in tears flowing like stream
Obviously the untamed malaria has ended another dream

Please don't ask how mere malaria can go so wild
When you and i have failed to create an environment that is healthy and mild
Until we fight for a malaria free nation jointly forming a guild
This will continue to be the fate of every nigerian child

Promise me forever

When in darkness the winds blow
Will i before your eyes still glow
When things start to move slow
Will your love for me continue to flow

When all your fears turn out to be true
Will your love for me turn blue
When our hearts can't be held together by love's glue
Will i still be the only one on your queue

Today you may seem to be my soul mate
But i need to know what really is my fate
I know the bitterness of the truth is what we hate
But i need to know now before its too late

I know love is not a fight
But is mine worth fighting for with all your might?
Tell me, what happens to your love at danger's first sight
Will you willingly give a fight or certainly take a flight

Can you promise me for better, for worse and for whatever
For richer, for poorer and whenever
In sickness, in health and in whichever
Can you look into my eyes and promise me, your forever?
