So thats the assurance we have in Christ Jesus.

That was in the old covenant. This is the NEW one. In the old covenant , everything was based on works. But in the new covenant we are by grace through the finished works of Christ (shedding of his precious blood on the cross as an atonement for our sins).

In the old covenant, God dent his faithfuls to fight and kill in battles. But you can't find that anywhere in the NEW covenant. The reverse was the case.
