But the Nigerian doctors would rather their patients (especially the poor who can't afford good quality private hospitals) die over money and ego!


This period of Ebola fear when our country needs you, the EXPERTS, the most, you chose to continue your arrogance even tho its a very serious matter which can affect even your loved ones. Abroad, doctors don't go on strike but "take a walk"! They understand how essential their service is. But this days, Nigerian doctors strike more than lecturers!

What ever happened to the oaths you took to save lives....

Please the upcoming generation of youths should not just fill medcine in jamb form cos they want to be called "doctors". Being a doctor comes with the passion to save lives and not just money money money!

Am really pissed off right now. Abeg you people should resume to help curtail this scourge at least and after it is controlled, you can go back to your incessant strikes!

I don't think you know anything about medical school in Nigeria, before these people start complaining they should first review medicine curriculum. in my school a medics does everything an anatomist, physiologists, medical biochemist all do in four years you as a medic do them in just 18 months and expected to be more grounded read more than 3 different authors for each. now tell me what can any of these do DAT they can't do?. in clinical it still follows you do different postings so you have idea about everything. this curriculum was design for the doctor to head because he has idea in almost all field. so if they don't want it they should review the curriculum, I don't tink is the pharmacist that prescribes drugs for you when you go to the hospital do they? plssss Nigerian s let's leave cheap sentiments

Is this not selfishness ? Is it only doctors that work in the hospital? why will they go on strike for this selfish

other workers who work in the hospital no matter their qualification should not be made a consultant?
-Is this not the height of wickedness and selfishness by doctors?
So if a staff of the hospital have Ph.D, he should not be a consultant when their mates working at other places are consultants ?

Ladies and gentlemen, the law says anyone on level 15 is a director in the civil service--- so why will doctors say that only them should be made directors and other workers who

no body is against there growth, the issue is a medical team should be headed by a Doctor, note doctor's are not called consultant because of PhD only, do you know that most teaching hospitals don't have pharmacy student? how do you expect a pharmacist to head in that situation?? pls let these people tell us the truth, even in advance country how many times have u heard a pharmacist is heading an operation/surgery team. A Lecturer at the University of Calabar, Dr Edidiong Ebitu, has described the new demands by the Academic Staff Union of Universities as an act of sabotage of the education sector.
Ebitu made the declaration on Friday in Uyo in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
The teacher, who is a senior lecturer in the Department of Marketing in the university, said he was in support of the Federal Government’s directive that lecturers should resume classes.
“The various branches of ASUU had already voted to resume classes. The over four-months strike has done enough damage to the system.
“The president had made reasonable concessions, so ASUU should resume for other things to fall in place,” he said

If i were Mr. President, having giving such order i will ensure it's fulfilied to the last...What Fg should do 1. Declear state of emergency on education by preparing a 5 year plan to comprehesively revitalise not just the universities but the whole education sector. 2. Send a motion to the NASS asking them to declearing ASUU an illegal organisation or better still a terrorist organisation. 3. Any academic staff who fails to resume before december 4th will nt only be sacked but will be given 24 hours utimaltum to vacate his/her official residence. 4. Take an immediate head count of lecturers in each school as well as their student. 5. Open doors of employment to both nigerians nd none to ensure there are adequate staff [these will just be temporal]. 6. Send selected post graduate students to the best countries in the world to specialize in their field who will come back and take over from the temporal ones. 7. Give a marching order to both army and police to shoot at sight any ASUU member who tries to protest or refuse to leave residence within the stipulated time. 8. Put NLC, TUC, nd ASUU presidents on house arrest. I think this will go along way.....pls add your view no insults pls.... Remember This same ASUU killed student unionism so y should they have uniön?
