PoliticsRe: Price Hike Looms As Dangote Begins Sale Of PMS, Diesel In Dollars by Amhappy(f):
motymop:
There is a huge difference between how a refinery works and how a market trader works

Oil price and production is controlled by an international body called OPEC which set the price in USD to allow for easy trrading between international oil trading houses and their buyers

Dangote is buying crude oil in dollars from the Nigerian govt, because his main cost is in dollars, he has to sell in dollars to major oil marketers in nigeria so his business doesn't crash when the exchange rate jumps.

But those oil marketers don't turn around and sell petrol to you at the filling station in dollars. They do the math, convert it, and sell it in Naira.

It’s the exact same thing for Balogun traders. They might buy their containers from China in dollars, but when a regular customer walks into their shop to buy a shirt, they sell it in Naira

No one is saying we should pay for petrol or clothes on the street in dollars But the big companies buying thousands of metric tons of fuel at the depots have to deal in the currency of the global oil market
Dangote like other refineries around the world is getting crude in dollars from a globally controlled market. Oil market runs on sales contracts so they buy Nigeria crude as well as from other markets. However,Nigeria is not the only country with a refinery and global price control does not extend to the mid-stream and downstream. That's why different models are operated. However,we are comparing apples for apples here. If we say because every company who got their raw material in dollars, their final product should also be in dollars then other sectors can follow suit.
The main reason Nigerians are clamouring for a local refinery is to support our homegrown economy. So what's the point if it's dollarised,we can as well continue with importation. We both know that this will put pressure on the already weakened Naira. So what's the point. That arrangement is the more reason why Naira is still stable.

Oil is tied to dollar, so why do anyone think dangote should sell in naira

The war between US and iran has started again over the strait of hormalz...so we should expect more inflation, currency flatuation and increase in cost of food and transportation
So all the importers in Balogun market should start selling their goods in dollars;household items, wears, imported food, medicine. If marketers buy petroluem products in dollars, will it be fair to say that the filling stations should start dispensing PMS in dollars? They better go for a round table discussion for us to change our currency to dollars.

PoliticsRe: Insecurity: ‘he’s Done His Bit,’ Adeboye Defends Tinubu by Amhappy(f): 9:21am On Jun 30
This is a very insensitive comment at a time when our nation is being overrun by terrorists. Nigerians do not need a President who has merely "done his bit." We need a President who delivers results, a secure country where citizens can live, work, and thrive without fear.
Activity alone is meaningless if it does not produce the desired outcome. Leadership is measured by results, not effort.
Contrary to what he said, Presidents of the United States do not simply issue orders and go to sleep during national security crises. They remain actively engaged, often spending hours in the Situation Room alongside their security advisers, assessing intelligence, evaluating options, and making critical decisions as events unfold. Nigeria deserves leadership with the same level of urgency, accountability, and commitment to protecting its citizens.

They are doing that because the government knows that the Boko Haram has overwhelmed the security forces in the country. Too bad.
This is the fact. The security forces are overwhelmed. If you listen to the government, you can feel the fear. We are now in the compromising mode.

This tip will help you next time you looking to invest in stocks or Equity mutual funds. And it goes thus;

Whenever you see everyone is making gains and posting the percentage gained almost on daily basis here on Nairaland, X(Twitter) or even Tiktok.

Just know that you are late to whatever they invested in.

That singular act is what lead to many people here complaining of being in RED because they are used to seeing people post gains here.
Oh i see. Meaning that i joined this ship late and should jump out

FamilyRe: My Wife Isn't Adding Any Value To My Life by Amhappy(f): 9:56am On Mar 09
First of all, kill that idea that your wife is not adding any value because value is not just financial. Values can be tangible and intangible, and I am sure she's adding some value; raising kids, nanny work, keeping the home, cooking and cleaning, saving the family some costs with her unpaid labour. So you mean she's not adding revenue, and I understand why you are angry. One source of income is never enough these days, with the rising cost of living, the burden on a single breadwinner is too much. To make matters worse, she's not making any effort, and sincerely, it's a scary place to be if you are an overthinker like me. I hate to say that I'm in a similar state. My advice for you is to let someone else talk to her. If her mama is reasonable, let her take up the task. "God forbid" is not a plan. Let her know that earning a living is for her own good. To empower her to support the family and for the eventualities. What will she do if you lose your job, get sick, or even pass away? Why waste her youth pressing phone when she can be more productive? Also, explore things she is good at. Not everyone can do the buying and selling business, even when it seems easy. Let her sell for someone first to learn the skill. You can explore mini poultry, makeup & gele, business centre etc. Let her learn the skill first. She can also find a job. Some men start with "my wife will not work", and when she relaxes, they now start complaining. However, know that if she starts working things at the home front will not get equal attention. I hope you are ready to cope with the opportunity cost.

That man never made any effort until the children were grown, says a lot about him. He should go back to the brother/Sisters that fueled his ego to maltreat his family. No normal wife will leave to fend for 4 kids alone except the man is the type that Jeremiah looked at and exclaimed, "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked". Forgiveness is Divine, so you can forgive and still maintain a safe distance.

Oga, just bring these kids back. My life has not been normal since these children were kidnapped. For these evil men to have the mind to kidnap nursery children, what do you have to tell us again? How can little children be in the forest for weeks, with hunger, mosquitoes, snakes and other wild animals, facing threats and guns? I can hear them crying for their mothers. They have been wearing a single cloth ever since, no bathing, and they will be feeling cold. These children belong at home, please. I don't care what you are doing, Sir Ribadu please bring back these kids. Thank you.
