This is actually a long read o

First of all, I want to start off by saying GOD is Real. HE’s True to HIS Promises.
HE broke the protocols. My Visa interview was sweet… it was a smooth conversation.

On the day of my Interview I was filled with Praise, absolute Praise.
I woke up to pray and all I kept hearing in my Spirit was when Pastor Eno on NSPPD says “How will you shout your shout…how will you dance your dance... “ these words kept resonating in my Spirit; For I have not given you a spirit of fear but of boldness and of sound mind, that HE GOD will fight my battle and I shall hold my Peace… that HIS Presence will go with me… that the Blessings coming my way shall be called Good measure, pressed down, shaken together & running over… at that moment I had an unwavering Faith.

Now into the interview proper.

We lined up in numbers waiting for all the check ins, biometrics and one on one interview session with the V.Os present.

When it got to my turn I didn’t want to be interviewed by window 7 as she had denied a woman and her son for a visiting visa. I wanted window 9.
But I had no choice and moved forward since the security had already asked me to go forward.
I was interviewed by the Beautiful brunette lady with her cute eyes.

V:O Good morning, please pass your passport and I-20
Me: Thank you,
Good morning Ma’am

V:O we will start by you placing your first four left fingers afterward the right four fingers and both thumbs. I was smiling and doing all that and saying thank You Ma’am.

V:O She looked at my ds-160 job roles and asked, where do you work:
Me: Thank You. I work at the Nigerian Red Cross Society Port Harcourt Division as a Project Analyst. Part of my duties include;
Collating data of underrepresented individuals in marginalized communities especially victims of infectious diseases particularly Hepatitis, HIV, Tuberclosis and other enteric forms of diseases.
I’m involved in timely health program report and also the reviewing and monitoring of projects activities carried out in project communities.
My team and I carry out Advocacy visits otherwise known as Supportive Supervisory Visits to underserved communities within Rivers state where we set up point referral systems for these marginalized communities to have access to mapped out health facilities, these target populations are usually victims of communal and ethnic violence, conflicts, flood and fire disasters, Accident and rape victims. We gave out Post and Pre-explosure prophylaxis to individuals who have been exposed or come down with Hepatitis and HIV infections, victims of rape & sex abuse, especially pregnant women to avoid Neonatal transmission. We also gave out RDTs(Rapid Diagnostic Testing kits) & LLIN( Long Lasting Insecticidal Treated Nets) as preventive measures against malaria parasite infections.
I also participated in a sensitisation exercise where we educated the communities on the dangers of female genital circumcision & early girl child marriage & also went on a house to house focus group discussion that talks extensively on measures thats promote the quality of life expectancies.
We also distributed immunisation questionnaires and gave out rehabilitation services and mental health support to victims of rape, accident & fire disasters victims .
*** Mind you while I was saying all these I kept my eyes fixed on her while she looked at me a few times and typed in her system***

V:O: How long have you worked in this company
ME: I have worked as a Project analyst for 3 years now.

V.O: I see you have a GA,
Me: I said YES Ma’am

V.O: who will be covering the deficit,
ME: I said my Uncle by name XYZ***will be covering the rest. Before CSU long Beach released my I-20 they ensured I met all the financial requirements for a graduate program at CSULB for the next 2years. He has been involved in my life for over 22 years since I lost my Dad, he is a Realtor, he has about 65 luxury homes across Lagos state, Rivers & Imo State Nigeria. He has a staff strength of 85 and he’s been into business for the past 8years. He has seen my commitment to work and what I stand to achieve after this masters program as I intend to take up a position in my current place of work as a Public Health Analyst.

See the Miracle here pls;
• I didn’t even add his gross annual income of 400m..
• Then when I was mentioning his company names. I said he has companies like, ABC and this other company I’m not sure if it’s an XYZ or ZYX

V:O Oh okay. Do you have any documents from your company to support your application.
Me: Yes, Ma’am ; I have a study leave here that covers my quarterly emoluments for the next 24 months at Cal State long Beach.

V.O: Okay calmly…. She reached out to pick up the Congratulatory note�� the magic words came forth…
I will be approving your visa. Congratulations.
Please write your school to send you an updated I-20 .. at this point I was not hearing anything o I was just nodding as though I heard�

ME: Thank You so much Ma’am you made my day. Have a beautiful day too�
V.O: You’re welcome�

I left with so much joy.

Guys.. upon opening the door where everyone was seated waiting for their turns.. Omo I ran away o I ran, I didn’t turn my back till I got to the point where we usually take off our belts and other things ..

GOD has truly compensated me.
I’m short of words.

Sorry about your loan denial.
I was in this shoes few months ago

Mpower financing declined lots of loan decisions that they had conditionally approved in the first stage of the application… I gathered that the US government had laid off loan debts incurred on students lately I think that affected their approval rates.. just my thoughts anyway.
Is your program a STEM program. It’s like they give preference to STEM students.

Start off by looking out for funding offers from other departments in your schools and search for external sources of funding too
Go through external funding resources available to international students, that would help.

Hello people.

I'm actually in some kind of dilemma at the moment and need help and advise.

I got admitted for a Master degree in Public health against Fall in 5 different US universities. Trying to secure funding In form of a graduate assistantship has been very difficult. All effort yielded to nothing.

I then decided to go for a student loan (Mpower) of $30k with financial support of $10k from a friend. My loan was declined just before I attached my financial support letter and statement of account. The reason was that "Your projected debt burden at the time of graduation exceeds our risk limits". This loan was supposed to be for a year/session. The estimated cost for a session study was $40k.

And I was really banking on this loan. At this point, I really don't know what to do. Would my loan have been accepted if I had attached the sponsor letter and bank statement on time? If so, I could file for an appeal.

Did I make any mistake while applying that worked against me? I need advise.

VO: what happened with your fully funded scholarship, she picked up a white paper and asked why is your wife not going with you?

Me: she is currently working at**** however she will be visiting me anytime she is on leave. Besides her international passport is not ready yet.

VO: make sure you process her passport for her and her F2 form

Me: Yes ma.

VO: I can see you have another fully-funded Ph.D. scholarship at Southern Illinois and I can see you are coming back to Nigeria to work at your Alma mater ( I added it on a reason why denied).

VO: Everything looks good, I will be approving your VISA.

Please go ahead and apply. California state universities are not so stringent with their application and admissions offer.
Besides, your GPA to me is very ok for graduate admissions at many of the California state campuses.
Just make sure all other supporting documents speak volumes and are well articulated.

Start off by looking at the program’s requirements which is usually different from the graduate school requirements.. if you meet both the program of your choice and graduate school requirements then you’re good to go.

Hi nairalander I’m a graduate of mechanical engineering from osun state university osogbo
I’m really confused about GPA requirement to study masters degree in USA
Because the last time I spoke
With an agent he said I can’t secure an admission with second class lower(2.6 on a scale of 5)

But I checked the school portal
Some schools accept the GPA of last 60 semester unit

the reason for my low CGPA was because I wasn’t serious in my 200,300level but when I calculated my GPA for my last 2year years it’s about 3.87 on a scale of 5

Please FAM I’m really confused on this
I’ll appreciate if I gt someone to enlighten me on this and the schools that will be good

I’ll like to apply for mechanical engineering again in my masters degree

Please use a credit card or get someone who can pay using their dollar Visa card
Since a professor in Mississippi college has promised a GA offer I think it’s a ray of hope. She should do a reminder to that effect once in a while.

My younger sister has not been able to send her requested evaluated Wes transcript to Graduate School, Mississippi College.
I'm told the cost of sending is $40 and she had tried using her GTB card but was unable to.
Please, what is the way out?
She applied for PhD Epidemiology in University of Michigan, University of Columbia, New York University and Yale University and got rejection in all. One of the reasons was late submission of applications.
Bsc Wes is 3.36
MSc Wes is 3.59
She contacted one Professor last week in Mississippi College, indicated interest for MSc Applied Exercise Physiology and two of them had zoom meeting.
Now, the Prof. wants her to join her research group next fall. She promised her GA slot next fall also.
Please, how can she pay and send her evaluated Wes transcript to the Graduate School?

There were 2 VO's counter 8 and counter 9, the Asian guy and the other white guy i noticed the Asian guy first question was always have you travelled out of Nigeria before, once your answer is No, he asks any random question and rejects. I was praying from the gate till I met with my VO
The Asian guy called next it was supposed to be me but i dragged for like 5 seconds and the other white guy called next then i went to meet him.

TRANSCRIPT.
VO: Good Morning
ME: Good Morning
VO: You are going to study Engineering
ME: NO I'm going to study industrial and human factor Engineering.
VO: Okay
VO: So you are an Engineer
ME: Yes I am
VO: I see you have a scholarship how do you intend to cover the rest
ME: Ooh I have a 70% scholarship on my tuition, my aunt would be covering the rest ( praying in my mind that he doesn't know enough mathematics to calculate by looking)
VO: What does your aunt do
ME: Oooh she is a distributor for dangote cement
ME: I have her bank statement if you would like to view it
VO: That won't be necessary
VO: So what would this degree do for you
ME: Oooh my Company is going through a transition phase where we are moving from a crude oil based approach to a gas and renewable energy approach this transition is opening up positions for mid-level management with my experience and this degree i would be positioned to fill one of these openings.
VO: Okay
VO: Keeps typing picks up the white paper and gives me says this white paper would tell you all you need to know about picking up your passport
ME: Thank you very much.

P.S i noticed that a lot of guys dress poorly, if you are going for academics and you claim to have been working please dress the path dry-clean your clothes and look smart also make your stories as short as possible my interview was about 2minutes /b] [b]and pray non-stop God bless everyone
