I know somr will come here to drop the tired clichè that the Nigeria does not start and end in the North but the North is important because the North made Tinubu president. He was defeated across virtually the entire South by Obi and the same will likely be the case in 2027. |
ottersberger:It goes without saying. When we said Elrufai made Tinubu president, we do not mean that he rigged votes for Tinubu or even delivered his state, far from it (although Tinubu got his second highest margin in the North from Kaduna). We simply mean that he was able to prick the conscience of most Northerners to keep the "amana" (trust) and return the favour as Tinubu had supported Buhari in 2015. A lot of Northerners followed Elrufai's messaging and supported Tinubu despite the body language of the Buhari cabal and most Northern elders who were wary of Tinubu's penchant for state capture and insatiable appetite. With the betrayal and subsequent incarceration of Elrufai, in addition to his blatant tribalism and poor performance, I need not tell you what the current mood in the North is. By this time in 2023, many Northerners were composing songs eulogising Tinubu despite the naira crunch. Tinubu has simply proved the Buhari cabal right and proven himself to be untrustworthy. Trust and the ability to to keep one's word is a huge deal breaker amongst Northerners. |
FarahAideed:Wrong. Peter Obi needs to run independently for Tinubu to be defeated. With Obi in the race, Tinubu will have a herculean task winning the South, just like in 2023. With Obi as Vice, there would have been voter apathy at best or even some protest votes in favour of Tinubu in the South. The big question is, are the 5.6m Northern votes that made up 65% of Tinubu's entire tally still intact? Your guess is as good as mine. |
Seunmama:Thr Southeast and the Northeast where Atiku is from are teo regions that has never produced a president. Atiku requested for the ticket to be zoned specifically to the Southeast if zoning was to be considered but Wike refused via his Samuel-ortom led committee because he had already frustrated strong candidates like Umahi and later Obi out of the party. Despite all these, Wike still wanted to deputise Atiku after Atiku won the ticket. He also pledged during the primaries to support the winner. He only went rogue because Atiku declined to pick him as Vice. |
The Obi Akpor Ghengis Khan and his horde of pretenders can now formally defect to APC. They have lost this one. |
fergie001:Wike knows this ab initio. This is why he was using force to prevent the ratification of Jonathan by the authentic Turaki faction. Cc: Seunmsg, food don done o.
|
jflower06:Chief Security Officer indeed. Can even a policeman take instructions from a governor? You left a whole Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and are fixated with a CSO who only has Amotekun to command. A C-in-C that suspends CSOs only when his political interests are threatened. |
Dshocker:Spoken like someone that has never left his region. Ask your kinfolks, 90% of Corps members that come to serve in the North prefer not to leave after their service year. Even the ones who leave have a better reorientation on how easy-going and pleasant life can be in the North. |
Assuming but not conceding, he can still do more by speaking the truth to power under Tinubu.
|
Counterigbolies:Reality is already staring you in the face but you can keep burying your head in the sand. As things stand, Tinubu will even struggle in his own Southwestern region. Even the middlebelt is still dicey and all supposed grounds gained may be lost if he goes ahead with a muslim-muslim ticket. |
Counterigbolies:Oga, Tinubu lost in the South woefully to Obi. He won only 4 Yoruba states out of 17 Southern states. It was the likes of respected Northern figures like Elrufai who galvanised the Northern votes that made him win. He got over 65% of his votes from the North but proceeded to make his presidency a solely Lagos and Yoruba affair while having Elrufai incarcerated without bail in just over 3 years of his tenure. Where will his votes come from in 2027? It doesn't look like he can now defeat Obi in the South come 2027. |
jflower06:Did you ask what Kashim Shettima was doing with his own security votes in Borno during Goodluck Jonathan or even what other governors were doing with their votes during Buhari’s tenure? We all know what we are doing but do not exonerate your tribesman when you should be holding him to account. None of us is really truly safe. Tinubu won't fly Abuja to Oyo to intervene, he will rather fly over Oyo from his Lagos hone back to Abuja. That's how he treats his own people. Little wonder he only stopped at the airport in Plateau and couldn't visit the affected community in Yelwata when he went to Benue.
|
Meanwhile, in Akwa Ibom, the government is sacking aides for daring to speak out against Tinubu. The much touted support for Tinubu in the Southsouth is a mirage. None of the governors will be able to deliver their state to him, even if they manage to win their own re-election. Cc: Seunmsg

Gotocourt:No wonder Wike now refers to Amaechi as "His Excellency Amaechi, my brother". Lessons! |
This is where all the borrowed loans, subsidy savings and taxes are going to. Just listen to the arrogance and the lack of self awareness. Nigeria has gone back to the very dark days of PDP but even worse.
|
IamPatriotic:If he couldn't, then it simply means Atiku is more popular. That's not the point. The point is, why ask others to "sacrifice" and forfeit their own ambitions when you couldn't do the same and kept saying "I must be on the ballot in 2027?". His loyalists in the NDC are not even asking for too much. Most of them were rigged out but Obi is willing to overlook simply because he has secured a ticket for himself. I have a feeling that Dickson will eventually sell out Obi at the last minute. |
DmonSlayer10:Wake up and smell the coffee. Tinubu has infiltrated into the Christian bloc that was Obi's base in 2023. Due to fear of backlash, some of them are going through corners by pledging support for unviable candidates in public. Just like Babachir Lawal, who is claiming he will support Sowore but is actually a Tinubu mole. It's a strategy to make Obi bleed votes. |
Chris2023:Obi only negotiates for himself and no one else. Here he is, asking members to "sacrifice" but he refused to do the same in the ADC for the sake of the country. The hypocrisy!
|
They were more respected in the ADC and were given so many concessions, but they began to think they were the prize. Obi himself might just get sabotaged by Dickson at the very last minute. It's not a coincidence that previously paranoid government hirelings like Keyamo and even Reno have stopped commenting about Obi. This was not the case when he was in the ADC. It was widely reported that the NDC will be Wike’s special purpose vehicle to field candidates in Rivers if he lost out in PDP and APC insists on Fubara. That was even before the court order that brought the party into existence. |
Penguin2:So how comes the APC failed to field candidates in 2 electoral cycles in Rivers? The APC national leadership was unaffected in both instances. Tinubu and Wike connived with Magnus Abe just to checkmate Amaechi. Magnus Abe subsequently got rewarded with juicy positions after Tinubu won. Tinubu was the originator of anti-party in the APC. |
Obidients mock Atiku because Okowa left to join the APC but Okowa has never lashed out like this in public against Atiku. Moral lesson: Men are driven by different motives and you cannot force a grown man to continue to pledge loyalty to you. Sometimes, it's not about you, it's about them. |
Anytime Festus Keyamo panics, he rushes to dabble into the affairs of other political parties. He did same when Obi joined the coalition. |
Seyi Makinde is to Tinubu what Tinubu was to Obasanjo. It's just funny seeing some of Tinubu's lackeys attempting to blackmail Makinde and Aregbesola when Tinubu himself didn't support Obasanjo all through his 8 years tenure. They would have had a case if Tinubu was performing. He isn't. |
Someone whose wall of quicksand is crumbling in his own backyard in the SW is banking on an imaginary wall in the North. What did the North gain for making him president when he was resoundingly defeated by Obi in the South? How has he treated the major Northerners that rallied support for him? Where is Elrufai? Where is Ganduje? Where is Kabir Marafa? Where is Kashim Imam? Where is Al-Makura? Where is Danjuma Goje and other Northern senators? Where soon will be Kashim Shettima and even Ribadu? |
Coldspice:Elrufai is being detained by the ICPC. Probing phone tapping is not one of their core mandates. Even before granting that interview, Tinubu made attempts to arrest him at the airport upon his return to Nigeria. Tinubu is simply scared of him and wants to keep him away until after the 2027 elections. When it's time to stifle strong opposition figures or declare a state of emergency in an opposition-governed state, he suddenly remembers he's Commander-in-Chief but when it's time to tackle rising insecurity, he shifts the blame to the governors. |
How many times will he continue to fire them? Maybe it's not the employees, maybe it's the employer. No need. Nigerians will fire him come 2027. |
"I will put fire in their states". Who made this statement and to whom? Clearly, we all can see the fire or can't we? |
alanto:Secure their states with what? Amotekun and dane guns? Or are they allowed to purchase AK47 and arm militias to protect their states? Nothing you lot wouldn't say to exonerate Tinubu but he wasn't that gracious to Goodluck Jonathan during the boko haram and Chibok crisis in Borno. He never blamed Shettima as you lot now try to blame Makinde. Infact, he chose Shettima as VP 8 years later. |
seunmsg:"I will put fire in their states" - Who made this statement and to whom? Are those states beginning to see fire or not? |
ratcock:This is how Tinubu has managed to buy out virtually everyone in the country. Borrowing and taxing the citizens just to splurge money on politicians to buy their support, silence and patronage. We can't continue like this! Vocal incorruptible Northerners like Elrufai that can speak truth to power have been incarcerated without bail for otherwise bailable offences, thinking he can suppress the North and indeed, the rest of the country. Time is a gentleman. |
No matter how Tinubu's minions try to spin it, Makinde falling out with Tinubu is a net negative for Tinubu's campaign. This is considering the fact that Makinde resorted supported Tinubu in 2023. Every potential vote for Makinde is a vote that would have gone to Tinubu. Baba Osoba knows what he's talking about. |
I thought Seunmsg and the rest of his lackeys told us Kawu Samaila and Abdulmumuni Jibrin will deliver Kano to Tinubu? Why is Kawu Samaila now claiming they will be unable to campaign due to Tinubu's abysmal performance? Lessons! |
