Politics › Resignation: Kemi Adeosun Hands Over To Perm Sec., Mahmoud Isa Dutse by aminulive(op): 9:31pm On Sep 14, 2018
@POLITICSNGR

Embattled minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has finally handed over to the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mahmoud Isa Dutse, PoliticsNGR has learned.

The former minister spent 12 hours in her office on Friday to reconcile documents and prepare handover note. Daily Nigerian reports that a source in the ministry, who pleaded anonymity said;

“She has been in office today since 9am. She hosted Head of Service today and some other visitors who came for solidarity visit. As I speak to you, she is still in office.

“Truly the atmosphere tells you all is not well, but we are surprised to see her in office discharging her duties,” said a source at the ministry.

According to the source, what appears unusual was the minister’s absence at this week’s Federal Executive Council Meeting at the State House.

“What is strange to us was her absence at FEC meeting on Wednesday. She chose to remain at home and receive visitors.

“Governors of Kebbi and Zamfara were all her residence on Wednesday. She came to office the following and today. The governor of Kebbi returned on Thursday and spent three hours in her office,” said the source.

The 51-year-old former minister is reported to have resigned following pressure arising from her questionable NYSC discharge certificate.

In November 2015, Adeosun was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Finance by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ms. Adeosun was born in 1967 in London, England to Nigerian parents from Ogun State.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of East London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Financial Management from the University of London.

She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1994 and she was qualified for NYSC exemption on return to Nigeria after clocking above 30 years of age.

The story has been out there that Adeosun forged her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, discharge certificate.

Although she was above 30 when she returned to Nigeria, she was not qualified to obtain an exemption because she got her first degree when she was in her 20s.The fake exemption certificate that she obtained through a third party was what caused her fall.

She initially ignored the forgery report, but her handlers later explained that she was not guilty.

@POLITICSNGR

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday totally played down speculation of rift with the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying reports to such effect were untrue.
Both the social and traditional media have been flooded with news of a major rift between Tinubu and Governor Ambode over alleged disagreement on the second term bid of the Governor.

Addressing party faithful in Epe during the election of delegates for the Presidential primary election and national convention of the party, Governor Ambode said the reports indicating a fight between him and Tinubu were out of place and that there was no fight anywhere.

"I want you to know that there is no fight anywhere. The National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and my good self we are not in any fight, we are not in any controversy.

"I want to say a very big thank you to all our delegates that are present here; I want to say a big thank you to all our leaders that have also supported us to make sure that this event has come and is done very successfully.

"I want to reiterate once again that our party, All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the party to beat; we are the party at the national level and we are going to remain the party in the State," the Governor said.

At the event which was held at APC's Secretariat in Aiyetoro, Epe, Alhaji Shakiru Seriki (Bamu), Otunba Bode Alausa and Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, the State' Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, were elected as national delegates from Epe division which comprises of one Local Government Area (Epe) and two Local Council Development Areas (Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin).

Politics › 2019: How Ambode's Quarrel With Tinubu Started (FULL STORY) by aminulive(op): 8:44am On Sep 12, 2018
@POLITICSNGR

The current rift between the Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode and the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress and Former Lagos Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly started after alteration of the state’s major policies shortly after Ambode assumed office.

PoliticsNGR learned that APC leader refused to endorse his political godson for re-election yesterday, ascribing it to Ambode’s decision to alter, modify and scrap some state’s policies initiated under the Tinubu administration between 1999 and 2007.

One of the sources mentioned the affected policies to include Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), which the Ambode administration scrapped and modified to serve the residents more effectively.

According to Thisday, While KAI was replaced with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), the source said LAWMA gave way for Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), which he said, designed for effective management of the state’s residential wastes.

However, according to him, the CLI later created grievous waste management challenges in the state. When scrapped, Asiwaju believed Ambode just wanted to rubbish his legacies. He was indeed displeased.

Apart from KAI and LAWMA, another source cited the case of Lagos Bus Reform Initiative, which the Ambode administration invested over N30 billion Paris Club refunds the state received from the federal government between 2016 and 2017.

Specifically, the source disclosed that Tinubu’s idea of public transportation “is completely different from the Bus Reform Initiative, which Ambode introduced in 2017. Asiwaju believes public transportation should be driven by the private sector

“Ambode’s decision to invest such huge amount on the construction of bus terminals and procurement of about 6,000 air-conditioned high occupancy vehicles is at variance with Asiwaju’s position. Asiwaju never bought into this initiative.”

Besides policy alteration, an entirely different source said Asiwaju was displeased with his godson because he set up a political group of his own called Akinwunmi Ambode Campaign Organisation (AAMCO) with networks across all LGAs and LCDAs.

According to the source, all political groups in the state have been collapsed into Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organisation (BATCO). Asiwaju felt the creation of AAMCO was a violation of his directive. But the truth is Ambode created the group because he won the APC governorship ticket in December 2014.

Ambode had expressed interest to run for a second term as governor of the state on the platform of the APC.

The governor made the official declaration on Monday, September 10, in Alausa. Ambode recalled how he was called upon by Lagosians to come and serve the state four years ago and thanked them for their support.

He said: “In the last three and a half years, I have fulfilled my promises to you to make Lagos work for all. With your support, we have made Lagos a better place and changed the face of our State. I did not do it alone; we did it together, because you believed.

“Our state has remained steadily prosperous because of your positive outlook. I urge you to always stay positive in your personal and communal lives and continue to aspire to great things.

But recent developments might mar his Second term ambition as some APC chieftains including former APC Deputy Chairman, Cardinal James Odumbaku and former Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Kaoli Olusanya, allegedly directed him(Ambode) to return his nomination form or face impeachment at a meeting held at Watercress Hotel, Ikeja Monday night.

At the meeting, all Chairmen of 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Area (LCDAs) signed the governorship nomination form of Tinubu’s anointed candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announcing him as the next governor of Lagos state.

Politics › Tinubu's Alpha Beta Fingered In N100 Billion Fraud (Court Documents) by aminulive(op): 5:56pm On Sep 07, 2018
Tinubu's Company Fingered In N100 Billion Fraud (court Documents)

A consultancy firm, Alpha Beta, owned by APC chieftain and former governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently embroiled in a N100 billion Tax Evasion, Money Laundering, and Fraud case, according to a petition filed by one Dapo Apara, its Managing director/CEO.

According to Apara’s petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Alpha Beta “has become an avenue for official corruption of government officials, a conduit pipe for massive money laundering scheme, tax evasion, among other vices”.

PoliticsNGR learned that in the petition, sent on his behalf by Adetunji Adegboyega ESG, his solicitors, Apara said: “Over the years the company is being protected and shielded by some powerful politicians and people in the society which made them to always boast of being untouchable, but our client, feeling the need not to keep quiet again and strengthened by his belief in the fact that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is keen on fighting corruption, which has been the bane of our country, is of the firm belief that it’s time to expose and open the can of worms called ALPHABETA CONSULTING.

“Our client is of the firm belief that it is time for the commission to step in and conduct a holistic investigation into the activities of ALPHABETA CONSULTING LIMITED AND ALPHABETA LLP, with a view to uncovering the massive corruption, money laundering, tax evasion etc going on in the company. Kindly note that one of the companies being used to perpetrate money laundering by the company is still another company named Ocean Trust Limited.

“The only hope of our client and indeed the teeming Nigerians who are victims of the crimes being perpetrated by these companies, in seeking justice is the commission, which we strongly believe in and therefore call on the commission to cause a holistic investigation into this case and all involved with the aim of bringing these criminals to justice, and not allow their claims of being untouchable to be validated.

“Kindly note sir that as our client is willing and able to provide information to substantiate the claims, though, we will plead for these to be done through us as he is presently fearing for his life having been receiving death threats from a lot of quarters because of this case.”

Alpha Beta first became known when it was appointed as a consultant to the Lagos State Government, arguably its first client, under the tenure of Babatunde Fowler as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014.

The company got the appointment when Bola Ahmed Tinubu was Governor of Lagos State. The speculation, which has yet to be dissipated since then, is that Tinubu completely owns or is a major shareholder in the company.

In the same vein, the state has also never denied claims that the company takes about 10 percent of internally generated revenue of Lagos, estimated in 2016 to be about N40 billion every month.

Politics › Fighting Corruption: Obono-obla Led Panel Gains Ground by aminulive(op): 12:19pm On Sep 03, 2018
Like a popular saying goes, ‘no amount of cleansing or bathing can change the spots on a leopard’s skin. So also to say that ‘integrity’ either positioned in front of a mirror or placed on a binocular cannot be dented. It is not a gainsaying to assert that in Nigeria today, our democracy is at risk judging the scourge of corruption practice by its citizenry in all strata which seems to grow bigger than the society itself, but however, concerted effort by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to quell or bring the scourge to the barest minimum has become an antidote that should not be swept under the carpet.

Looking at the current events happenings in our legislative houses including both public and private sectors of the economy is an obvious fact that corruption with its hydra-headed characteristic is ever fighting back in a war the current administration has set all strategy to conquer. More so, the presidency having made the corruption fight a priority is also battling with a counter effort from within the polity and the corrupt suspects who either see no reason to comply to the good effort of the government to bring sanity to our polity or myopic to the reality of the truth about integrity pursuit of the administration.

In the heat of all these, one man who has stood his ground to instill and uphold the pursuit of integrity in the nation is Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, the chairman of the special investigative panel, SPIP. The Presidential Panel chaired by Chief Okoi Obono-Obla was set up in pursuant to the Recovery of Public Property (Special Provisions) Act-Cap R4, LFN, 2004; an extant law for the investigation of the assets of any public officer who is alleged to have been engaged in corrupt practices, unjust enrichment of himself or any other person who has abused his office or has in any way breached the Code of Conduct for Public Officers contained in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Ever since Chief Obono-Obla became the chairman of the panel, his private life has been in the beam light by the alleged corrupt ones who has done much to either paint his image black or indict him in any unforeseen circumstance. One of it been the prying to know the authenticity of his secondary school result certificate after he has gone through series of academic pursuit to a doctorate degree level and the alleged wrongful utilization of public funds. All these according to findings are calculated attempt to silence the sterling quality of Chief Okoi Obono-Obla who has vowed to bring to book all public officers who have corruptly enriched themselves.

However, these allegations and counter-attack on the person of Chief Okoi Obono-Obla with some findings about his life both in and out has positioned him in a true beam to ascertain whether truly he deserves the integrity accolade. Besides, these have unprecedentedly promoted Chief Obono-Obla as a paradox of justice and anti-corruption crusader in the eyes of majority of the citizenry. Despite efforts by the corrupt people to blackmail and victimize his person, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has imprinted a mark in the anal of history as a dedicated crusader that believes so much in corrupt-free society.

In the words of Elder Charles Ogban-Ntasi, Chief coordinator, Reclaim Our Democracy Nigeria (RODEN), in his write-up on SPIP vs NASS, he said; “Right now, our democracy is at risk. We have a National Assembly who would rather have their way on all fronts or else throw tantrums like a little child disallowed from playing with an unsafe toy. Current events in our legislative houses, if not checked would on day take the heart out of our country. We are therefore not surprised when the House committee investigating the Special Presidential Investigative Panel for the recovery of Public property fell into the temptation of transcending the proper limits of a legislative inquiry and going on a fishing expedition to various institutions ostensibly to ascertain whether O/Level statement of result presented to the University of Jos and purportedly issued by Mary Knoll College, Ogoja in the 80s to Chief Okoi Obono-Obla was altered or forged by him.” Chief Ogban-Ntasi queried to know the hidden motive at the bottom of the congressional investigations of the SPIP, prompting inquiry into Obono-Obla’s WASC result which according to him, appears irrelevant to the legislative investigations.

We may be fair to say that despite all the antics of the corrupt minds to blackmail the chairman of the SPIP, the present administration’s effort to fight corruption is still ongoing to actualise its agenda. With the establishments of various Anti-Corruption Graft Agencies that include the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC, Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission ICPC, The Special Presidential Investigative Panel for Recovery of Public Properties SPIP, Code of Conduct Bureau to mention but few, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has done much to put in place strategies and polices to block loopholes and leakages through which unscrupulous officials use to siphon public funds.

Much as we may agree that corruption cannot be wiped out in the society in a day, concerted effort by the government in empowering the anti-corruption graft agencies is yielding result despite strong oppositions. The SPIP panel can boast of some achievements in exhuming the rots of some political office holders without bias. Perhaps, the stir which has sent signal in the homes of some yet to unravel corrupt officials ignites the attack on the person of Panel chair, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla. However, the Nigeria Change Agenda of President Buhari’s administration has also made remarkable efforts in repositioning the economy with the massive recovery of looted funds. One of such recoveries is the sum $322.5 recovered from the estate of the former Military head of State, late General Sanni Abacha in Switzerland and the subsequent distribution of some of the fund to the poorest and most vulnerable Nigerians.

Besides, the economy is bouncing back with the return of some foreign companies to the land. Recently, Volkswagen AG announced that it is set to resume assembling of its vehicles in Nigeria in a bid to foster sales in Africa. These also include the return of the National Air Carrier, Nigeria Air that is set to start operation by December, 2018 among others. Undoubtedly, all strata of society must share the responsibility for contain corruption.

Having mirrored all need to contain corruption and rebrand Nigeria in the eyes of the international community, Nigerians must look inward and sanitise their conscience to join the change agenda of the federal government in fighting corruption in the country. However, the change agents like in the person of Chief Okoi Obono-Obla will always stand tall despite all odds to mar his good personal intention, commitment and nationalistic cause to reposition the country’s image.

@POLITICSNGR

Zenith Bank has reacted to the arrest of its top executive, Peter Amangbo, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Recalls, that the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the bank, Peter Amangbo, was allegedly arrested over a series of transactions his bank allegedly carried out on behalf of one of Nigeria’s largest oil-producing states, Rivers.

The EFCC alleged that the transactions, at least N117 billion in value, are suspicious in nature and that the bank failed to report them as demanded by law.

Amangbo was first invited for questioning on August 23 but was freed on administrative bail and asked to return on August 24 for further interrogation. He was questioned again on Monday and was still at the EFCC office on Monday night.

The bank, in a statement signed by its head of corporate communication, Victor Adoji, on Tuesday, confirmed that its official was “invited” by the anti-graft agency in relation to an on-going issue between the Rivers State Government and the EFCC with regards to the government’s accounts with the bank.

Politics › List Of 69 Ongoing Projects In South-East Released By FG (Full List) by aminulive(op): 10:10am On Aug 27, 2018
@POLITICSNGR

The Federal Government has released the list of the 69 ongoing road and bridge projects in the South-east (please see attached list).

In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said though the contracts for many of the roads were awarded before the advent of this Administration, they were either poorly funded or not funded at all, hence work on the roads has lingered.

The Minister said the 69 roads and bridges, which are spread across the five states in the South-east, are now in different stages of completion, thanks to the funding sourced by the present Administration from budgetary allocations, the Sukuk Bond and the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.

He said the government is also looking into the possibility of using a part of the recovered looted funds to fund the development of infrastructure across the country.

While announcing the projects, which include the rehabilitation of the existing Niger Bridge as well as the construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge last week, Alhaji Mohammed promised to publish the full list of the roads and bridges, as well as give a state-by-state breakdown of the total figure.

Politics › Buhari Makes Grammatical Blunder During Speech To Soldiers (VIDEO) by aminulive(op): 12:37pm On Aug 26, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari made a grammatical blunder recently while addressing soldiers. Buhari was urging the soldiers to be ruthless and make sure that no individual breaks the law.

The President said;

"I do not want you to spare any cattle rustler, any armed robber or any stupid person who thought he is above the law."

The correct statement would have been:

“I do not want you to spare any cattle rustler, any armed robber or any stupid person who thinks he is above the law."

Crime › Woman, Sister Stab Husband With Broken Bottle Over Male Child In Lagos (Graphic) by aminulive(op): 1:29pm On Aug 24, 2018
@POLITICSNGR

A man identified as Victor Nwobuike escaped death by whiskers after his wife, Mrs. Stella Robert Iwu and her sister, Chioma allegedly attacked him with Broken bottles.
According to an eyewitness and Facebook User, Nnamdi Obiakalusi, Chioma Iwu reportedly stabbed Nwobuike Severally as seen in the photos below.  In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Nwobuike claims that his wife wants him dead over his inability to give her a male child.

Victor and Stella have been married for 13 years. He stated;

Some last year June, she invited me to a church by name divine majesty prayer ministry at Ijesha Tedo for spiritual counselling.

The pastor of the church said that I was possessed by a female demon which he claimed that I had an affair with in Port-Harcourt some years back. The pastor of the church told my wife that I was possessed by a strong female demon, and she was advised by the pastor to divorce me.

On the 17th of June 2018 at about 10:30 pm armed kidnappers in the company of my wife came into our home at lekki garden estate Ajah. I was abducted and molested with severe gun buts and barrel injuries and then taken away by four fully armed men wearing police uniform.

They took me toward ogombo area of Ajah. On our way, my phone rang in my pocket and it got them panicking. Along the Road they parked the vehicle close to a black Honda car, one of the kidnappers came down and went straight into the parked Honda vehicle, then I looked through the window and noticed that the driver of the Honda vehicle was Mr. Bennet Robert iwu who is my wife's elder brother,then the kidnapper that stepped out of the vehicle came back to our vehicle.

My phone was taken away from me and I was seriously rough handled and was thrown by the wayside to die gradually.

The case was formally reported to the ogombo police station which is still under investigation, the police compelled Stella to produce the kidnappers or face trial.

I spent the next three days at Badu specialist hospital, due to the injury sustained. Some weeks after my wife invited her younger sister, Chioma Blessing Iwu to our home. Four years ago, this Chioma Iwu was sent away from our home because of her wayward lifestyle and bad influence on our two daughters.

On the 27th of July 2018 in the evening, I noticed in my room that my valuables, cash, and documents has been stolen. On the morning of 28th July, I asked my wife, Stella, who took away the valuables in my room? she got angry that I am accusing her of stealing.

She got into a brawl with me and while I was trying to calm her down she called on her sister Chioma Iwu who was downstairs at the guest room.

She came with a broken bottle and started stabbing me all over my body, while my wife held me down. having been stabbed and left to die while my wife looks on, out of fear, she quickly called the police who then appeared at the hospital.

That I am alive today was courtesy of an Uber driver, an angel sent by God to ensure that I live. On the issue of a loan of 5 million as purported by my wife, she never gave me any loan and will never because I know who she is.

Please let her produce evidence of loan. I am from a noble family and I am bound not to engage myself in certain act, that's the name my wife wanted to tarnish at all cost. The matter was hence transferred to criminal investigation department PANTI Lagos where my wife and her sister blessing were detained for 7 days thereafter where granted bail by Nigeria police. Attached are pictures of Stella iwu nwobike and her sister blessing and also pictures of the dastardly attack on me.

Politics › Muslim Group Praises NBC Ban Of Falz's "This Is Nigeria" Video by aminulive(op): 11:15am On Aug 13, 2018
@POLITICSNGR

The Muslim Rights Concern Group, MURIC has reacted to the ban on Falz's video,"This is Nigeria" video by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation(NBC).

Below is a statement made available to PoliticsNGR, signed by the leader of the group, Prof. Ishaq Akintola;

The Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) last week banned the ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance video which was released by Folarin Falana (Falz the Bad Guy) in May this year. The video was offensive to the sensitivity of Muslims and the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) gave Falz a 7-day ultimatum to withdraw the video or face litigation. Instead of heeding the warning, Falz dared MURIC.

In a press release issued on Monday, the Islamic group commended NBC for banning the video and stressed that NBC should ensure that the video remained banned until the artist removes all the offensive parts. The group explained that the banning of Falz video may not be unconnected with a petition it sent to the National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB). The petition which was sent by courier to both the Abuja and Lagos offices of the agency was dated 11th June, 2018.

“The video portrayed Fulanis and Muslims as killers. It also showed women in hijab engaging in the notorious ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance. Although reactions to similar provocative works of art had been violent in the past, MURIC as an elite Islamic group decided to adopt dialogue. We asked Falz to withdraw the video or we would sue him. Instead of showing remorse he dared us. We knew he could delay the court case for years because he is a lawyer and he would use every trick in the books to frustrate us. That was why he was boasting.

“Therefore, instead of going to court, we decided to ambush him by sending a petition to the video board. This week, the NBC banned the video and others like it. He should be the one to go to court now if he likes. Let him go and show how brilliant he is in court. He and his fans laughed at us when we complained about his provocative and vulgar video. But there is no doubt that he who laughs last laughs best”.

The leader of the human rights organization, Ishaq Akintola , who signed the press statement added, “It is hoped that Nigerian artists will borrow a leaf from this episode. We Muslims have been the laughing stock of Nigerian artists for some time now. They associate every dirty job with a Muslim name. It is no longer going to be business as usual. That does not mean that we hate artists. No, we don’t. Artists are creative and hardworking people. We appreciate creativity and hardwork.

“We also love works of art and we respect artists who come out with brilliant ideas. We recognize the right of every artist to produce. But the right of an artist to produce whatever he likes stops where the rights of other citizens begin. Like all other citizens, we Muslims have the right to the dignity of our persons. Nobody can take that right from us. Our right is our right. The law is very clear about that. Fela Anikulapo Kuti used his songs to fight military dictatorship and other ills in the Nigerian society. But he never attacked Muslims or Christians. Neither did he incite Nigerians against any ethnic group. He criticized religious groups but never in a vulgar manner and he never exposed Muslims or Christians to ridicule”.

MURIC related the incident to the phenomenon of terrorism and religious violence. “It is incidents like this which lead to religious crisis. Fortunately we handled it intellectually. Other people could have allowed it to escalate into a major religious crisis and turned it into another opportunity to kill, maim and destroy properties. It is rather unfortunate that Nigerians are yet to appreciate what MURIC has been doing in this regard.

“It is germane at this juncture to analyse the anatomy of terrorism and religious violence. The cassu belli of most terrorist acts and religious violence is open or perceived injustice, including inadvertent or deliberate provocation. There is no smoke without fire and a good fire-fighter will point his hose at the fire, not at the smoke.

“Injustice and provocation are the gays of terrorism. The latter is mere smoke and an ordinary symptom, not the real disease. The world has been running after terrorists all this while without addressing the root cause. It is a wild goose chase. Whoever wishes to genuinely address terrorism must uproot injustice and provocation. It is high time we stopped trying to extinguish smoke instead of putting off the real fire.

“We want Nigerians to know that MURIC is inculcating a new culture of dialogue and informed response as the only civilised alternatives to spontaneous violence. We engaged Falz in dialogue instead of inciting young Muslims to start violent demonstrations. When he proved difficult, we extended the dialogue circle to the appropriate government agency. Muslims would have been called all sorts of names if we had started demonstrating or if we had been violent on the issue of Falz’ vulgar video. The image of Islam would also have been tarnished. But MURIC decided to be faithful to its avowed motto which is 'Dialogue, not Violence'.

“This method has also proved very efficacious in many other cases handled by us. The most recent is that of the Lebanese company manager who did not allow his Muslim workers to attend Jumat prayer on Fridays or to observe Salat az-Zuhr. We adopted dialogue through writing and the manager eventually allowed Muslim workers to observe Zuhr within the company’s premises and to go for Jumat prayer. He also visited our office last Monday, 6th August, 2018. During the visit, he pledged to allow religious freedom henceforth and the whole issue was amicably settled. We took pictures together and exchanged pleasantries. Though a non-Muslim, he has become our friend. In essence, MURIC is inculcating religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and eliminating religious violence.

“We appeal to Nigerians to always follow this laudable method. Let us all abide by this motto at all times: 'Dialogue, not Violence'. Let us say goodbye to religious violence. We can get justice if we engage in dialogue and follow due process. We can still get our rights without shedding blood. Grievance is a square peg but violence is a round hole. There can never be synergy between the two. What you seek is not what you get and most of those who may die or sustain injuries are innocent passersby, vulnerable children and women. We therefore urge Nigerians and others around the world to join our quiet and peaceful revolution”.

MURIC had some words of advice for Nigerian artists. “We charge artists, writers, journalists, publishers, etc, to be mindful of the sensitivities of other citizens. They should always follow due process. Films, videos and audio tapes should be submitted to the relevant agencies for clearance before public airing.

“Before we round off, we extend a hand of friendship to Falz the Bad Guy. We are not enemies. Falz is a hardworking young Nigerian and our intention is not to destroy his work but his latest production, ‘This is Nigeria’should remain banned until the provocative and vulgar scenes are removed. The video can still go on air with slight modifications.

“We advise Falz to retouch some areas. The Fulanis should not be portrayed as killers. The Chibok girls who are currently in captivity ought to be in sober mood instead of partaking in the drug-related ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance. Kidnapped individuals cannot be dancing recklessly. The phrase “everybody be criminal” used in the audio is false, baseless and highly misleading. It is also capable of damaging the image of this country.

“Not every Nigerian is a criminal. As we have the Evans, so do we have the Oloyedes, the Ahmadu Alis, the Femi Falanas and the Sowores. Even Falz himself is not a criminal. Therefore Falz and other artists should encourage the youth to emulate our heroes instead of pushing them to ape rogues. Finally, we commend NBC and the video censors board for acting swiftly.
