@POLITICSNGR The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, Friday, said the controversy concerning President Muhammadu Buhari’s school certificate is embarrassing and felt a sense of duty to produce and deliver to him a confirmation and attestation of his results, in form of a duplicate certificate. This is a god-sent, with WAEC being a non-political entity. This should put to rest the absurd allegations by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, brought up again and again, that he did not attend a secondary school. The unreasonable position of the PDP had been sustained all along in spite of testimony by classmates who read with him in school and graduated together, and that fact that a court of law had given a ruling on the matter. In 2014-2015 when they raked up the issue, I remember that it took the courage of the then college Principal to issue a statement of results from available records. In doing so, he defied the ruling PDP government in the state which asked him not to. At the time we got the results sheet, reports said that the government had determined to send arsonists to burn the school to ashes so that the existing records will be obliterated. This was against the backdrop of the shocking claim by the Army Records office in Lokoja, that they didn’t keep any records of General Buhari as a military officer. Curiously, the Army Records office had once come under Muhammadu Buhari, as Military Secretary who, during his tenure streamlined the records of the entire officer corps, and could not, by any stretch of imagination, have left his own records in a mess. General Alani Akinrinade (Rtd) reportedly dismissed this mischief as an insult to the military. After doing his conscience’s duty by daringly releasing those results, the then government of Katsina State punished the Principal by stripping him of his seniority and posting. As we said in a number of past statements, the matter of the President’s qualification to run for office is a non-issue, nonetheless feasted upon by the PDP which has stopped thinking and have nothing to offer to Nigerians. Based on arguments that “education gives a human being the power to discriminate between right and wrong,” the 1999 Constitution stipulates a minimum educational qualification for citizens who intend to contest for elections at all levels, which requires that they must possess a secondary school education or its equivalent. The provision above has itself come under serious re-examination by scholars who argue that the possession of a secondary school certification does not necessarily mean that a person is intelligent. It is equally argued that it is a mistake to assume that a person with a certificate has higher knowledge or intelligence than the one who doesn’t have. In an article published by the Daily Trust a day or so ago, Professor Shehu Zuru quoted Wendy Sherman, the author of the book Not For The Faint Heart, that “courage and integrity are critical attributes that you cannot acquire from a classroom because they are the inert fabrics of human conscience that dictates the power of the negative and the power of the positive.” As far as his educational career is concerned, President Buhari attended the Katsina Provincial Secondary School, before enrolling in the Nigerian Military Training College, NMTC Kaduna (1962), renamed Nigerian Defence Academy, in 1964. As narrated by Major-General Sani Saleh (Rtd), “I worked at the Nigerian Defence Academy so I know the processes. You cannot get in with a forged certificate, it is impossible. “At the time (Muhammadu Buhari enrolled), the army was still controlled by the British…Nigerian Army was a select and (an) elite organisation, we had very few Army Officers at that time. I don’t think the whole Nigerian Army Officers were up to 50. You can imagine what it takes for you as a Nigerian to be one of those…and today, somebody will be accusing you that you don’t have a certificate.” From NMTC, Muhammadu Buhari went to the Mons Officer Cadet School, Aldershot, United Kingdom (1962-63), the Defence Services Staff College, India (1973) and thereafter, United States Army War College, which upon completion, awarded its graduates a Master’s degree in strategic studies. In the belief that the nation has the right to know the educational details of their president, Candidate Muhammadu Buhari laid bare everything and tendered an affidavit in respect of the WAEC certificate. The masquerades wielding the real power behind the PDP, some of whom played an active part in his overthrow as military Head of State in the mid-eighties are deliberate in keeping this issue alive. As a thoroughbred, toughened general, he won’t cry out that his home and office were vandalized by scoopers when they threw him out of power. In meeting the eligibility for the contest in 2015, President Buhari presented the WAEC results and the other degree and non-degree related results. He went through the verification process in the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the court. He ran and won against the PDP. With these, the unnecessary controversy should have ended. It is equally hard to fathom how such a dead issue should get the type of attention given it by the media, considering the many matters of serious concern to the citizens – internal security that was given a short shrift for 16 years by the PDP; the diversification of the economy by focusing on key sectors (apart from oil) that can create jobs and generate revenue such as Agriculture, Solid Minerals and Manufacturing which the Buhari administration is keenly doing; the ongoing pursuit of more reforms and better governance; bolstered efforts towards poverty alleviation; ending corruption and insurgency and ploughing the savings therefrom to put in place needed infrastructure and so forth. Do they know that Nigeria Airways, NITEL and other pensioners they left in the cold, unpaid when they sold public assets to cronies or to themselves are getting their dues under this dispensation? If these things had been done when the oil price was as high as US$140 per barrel, Nigeria would not be in the current predicament. We would not have suffered when we had no cash reserves but we had regular supply of power, a good rail system, good roads and good housing. These are the issues dear to the hearts of our people. In its political fight for 2019, the PDP is not relying on the big issues of the day -security, corruption and jobs but on small, distractive matters that take little or no account of national interest. But what do you expect of a group that has stopped thinking, just blowing hot, toxic air, indulging in divisive politics and is raking up sectional issues so that the people will forget the real issues of corruption, infrastructure, security and economy for which they have no plans? @POLITICSNGR The Pan-Yoruba Socio-political Group, Afenifere yesterday suspended the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, in the last election of Osun State. Omisore, according to Afenifere, was sanctioned for allegedly violating the directive of the the socio-political group, which affected the outcome of Osun State governorship election. The suspension of Omosore was contained in the communique issued at the end of the General Assembly of Afenifere held at the Ijapo, Akure residence of its leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti. The SDP candidate was reported to have supported that All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, during the run-off election in Osun State. But in his swift response to the suspension, Omisore argued that Afenifere by-passed the principle of fair hearing by saying that he acted at variance in his decision to coalesced with All Progressives Congress (APC) at the rerun election. Omisore noted that SDP passed a resolution to coalesce with APC in Osun, stressing that he acted in consonance with the party’s position. Omisore added that Osun SDP is not affiliate of Afenifere in any form. He also stated that he was not given any directives, adding that that it might be oversight on the part of Afenifere. Afenifere’s communique was read by Chief Korede Duyile, who was the chairman of the communique drafting committee. Other issues discussed by the Afenifere were President Muhammadu Buhari’s certificate saga, the Nigeria’s debt profile, the state of insecurity and killings in the country, the killing of Shiite members and restructuring. While reviewing the controversy over the academic qualifications of President Buhari for the office of the President of Nigeria, Afenifere said that the controversy touches at the core of the moral fibre of the country. In view of the confusion, Afenifere said the onus on Buhari was to produce the document so as to retain his claim of being a man of integrity and being eligible to contest the 2019 elections . Afenifere also expressed concerns over the spate of general insecurity in the country in spite of security being one of the three cardinal claims of focus by the Buhari administration. “The country has been troubled by herdsmen terrors in different communities and kidnappings across the country as well as in the abduction and killing of Agom Adara, a pregnant woman in Ondo State, the Zamfara twins Gen. Alkali and with Leah Sharibu still in the custody of Boko Haram, among many others . “We have also witnessed how Kaduna State whose Governor, Mallam Nasiru el Rufai once boasted of paying off criminals, has become virtually ungovernable with the recent Kasuwan Magani massacre that led to the deaths of no fewer than 100 persons and the attendant spill over crisis. “We are worried that there has been no coordinated response on the part of the federal government to these needless losses of precious lives just as it continues to ignore calls for the overhaul of the country ‘s security architecture with a restructured polity to guarantee greater security of lives and property”, Afenifere stated. The group condemned the extreme and barbaric use of force against members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in Abuja. “There can be no justification for the level of blood-letting that has been carried out against the sect whose only crime has been protesting the continued detention of their leader in spite of different court orders to release him from detention. “The act of disobedience of court orders is totally reprehensible and confirms the statement by the US Ambassador to Nigeria that perversion of institutions, which abuse of court orders typifies, is the worst form of corruption. “We, therefore, called on the federal government to release the leader of the Shiites as ordered by different courts and ensure that the security personnel responsible for the mass killings of his supporters are brought to book. “We must not forget how extrajudicial killing of the founder of Boko Haram turned the group into a massive terror machine which we have been unable to contain and we are opening yet another front”, the group added. https://politicsngr.com/breaking-afenifere-suspends-omisore-osun-elections/

@POLITICSNGR The National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the death of Ex-minister of works and ranking PDP chieftain, Tony Anenih. Anenih died on Sunday evening at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment. In a statement to the Press, Tinubu stated: “Chief Anenih was a foremost politician and elder-stateman. He was resolutely committed to the unity and cohesion of this country. He worked for the upliftment of his Uromi hometown and Edo State, as he worked for the growth and development of Nigeria. “A politician of immense repute. He gave so much to party politics and democracy in the country. “As one of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he played a key role in the country’s resurgent democracy. It was no surprise that he later emerged the Chairman, Board of Trustees of PDP. “Our path crossed in the Social Democratic Party where he was our national chairman. I recall that he was an energetic politician who played politics with all that he was imbued with." “I commiserate with his family. @POLITICSNGR Below is a Press statement from the Nigerian army made available to PoliticsNGR on the recent clash between Nigerian Soldiers and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN); Troops of Army Headquarters Garrison on official duty escorting ammunitions and missiles from Abuja to Army Central Ammunition Depot in Kaduna State were attacked by some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) sect at Zuba bridge, of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at about 3.00pm on Saturday 27th October 2018. The sect who were supposedly in a procession, established an illegal road block denying motorists free passage. When the troops’ convoy attempted to clear the road block, they met stiff opposition from the sect. Members of the sect used various objects to barricade the road and also pelted the troops with stones and other dangerous items. They smashed both military and civilian vehicles’ windscreens and windows. They also attempted to overrun the escorts to cart away the ammunition and missiles the troops were escorting. This led to the troops opening fire to extricate themselves. Consequently, troops of 102 Guards Battalion in whose Area of Responsibility the incident occurred rushed to the convoy’s rescue. Unfortunately, during the encounter 3 members of the sect were killed while 2 soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries and are being treated at a military medical facility. Meanwhile, normalcy has been restored in the general area and members of the public especially those plying the Abuja - Zuba Road are requested to go about with their normal activities with the assurance from the NIgerian Army that no individual or persons would be allowed to disturb public peace and unprovoked attacks against military convoys. https://politicsngr.com/just-shiites-attack-soldiers-stones-attempt-steal-weapons-photos/

@POLITICSNGR The All Progressives Congress in Benue says 3,000 supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to APC in Guma, the local government area of governor Samuel Ortom. James Ornguga, APC’s acting state publicity secretary, made this known to newsmen on Saturday in Makurdi. He said: “We read a comical statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Mr Terver Akase, wherein he alleged that our party had organized the IDPs for distribution of relief materials and ended up tagging same as a “campaign rally”. “This accusation is too infantile to have emanated from the spokesperson of a sitting governor but since we are used to the many lies of the Ortom administration in close to four years, the APC can at most describe the action as shameful and a display of immaturity from a panicky government.” According to the statement, Benue APC on Friday organised a defection ceremony at Daudu, Guma where a former speaker of the state, Stephen Tsav, and over 3,000 PDP members from Nyiev, Mbagwen and Mbawa defected to APC. He said: “Everyone who witnessed that event would be forced to commiserate with the Benue State Governor since it marked the end of PDP in Guma, his home local government. “Rather than mourn this gross deflation of the PDP in one of its strongholds in Benue, Governor Samuel Ortom’s image maker has opted to ridicule himself with careless words that clearly expose the governor’s insomnia over this gathering.” https://politicsngr.com/trouble-atiku-3000-pdp-supporters-decamp-apc-benue-details/

@POLITICSNGR Below is footage of a statement given by the Nigerian Army in 2015 denying that it possessed the credentials of President Muhammadu Buhari. The failure of President Muhammadu Buhari to attach his credentials to the forms he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission to enable his seek reelection next year on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in 2019 has generated another round of interest in the issue. PoliticsNGR gathered that in January 2015, the Nigerian Army spoke on the issue of the controversial certificate. The position of Service was made known by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide Laleye, who was retired after the assumption of office by Buhari. Laleye said the Army does not have the original or Certified True Copy of President Buhari’s West African Examination Council certificate. He equally said there was no statement of result in his file. Laleye’s statement to the press on January 20, 2015, reads in full: “I will begin with the Major General Muhammadu Buhari certificate controversy. Gentlemen, let me state clearly that the Nigerian Army holds the retired senior officer in very high esteem and respect and would not be a party to any controversy surrounding his eligibility for any political office. Suffice to state that Major General Buhari rose steadily to the enviable rank of Major General before becoming the Head of State of our dear country in December 1983. “The media hype on retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s credentials as well as the numerous requests made by individuals and corporate bodies to the Nigerian Army on this issue have necessitated that we provide the facts as contained in the retired senior officer’s service record. Records available indicate that Major General M. Buhari applied to join the military as a Form Six student of the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina on October 18, 1961. “His application was duly endorsed by the Principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him to be suitable for military commission. It is a practice in the Nigerian Army that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers’ cadre of the Service, the Selection Board verifies the original copies of credentials that are presented. However, there is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s. “Nevertheless, the entry made on the NA Form 199A at the point of documentation after commission as an officer indicated that the former Head of State obtained the West African School Certificate in 1961 with credits in relevant subjects: English Language, Geography, History, Health Science, Hausa and a pass in English Literature. However, neither the original copy, Certified True Copy nor statement of result of Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s WASC result is in his personal file. “I hope this explanation will put to rest the raging controversy surrounding the secondary school credentials of Major General Mohammed Buhari as it affects the Nigerian Army.” Watch the video HERE https://politicsngr.com/not-buharis-credentials-nigerian-army/ cc: lalasticlala

@POLITICSNGR PDP Presidential Aspirant, Atiku Abubakar has attacked Nigeria's minister of Information branding him the "High Priest of the APC cult of Fake News". Atiku accused Mohammed of dishonesty about a statement he made in an article published in an online news medium titled; ‘2019: International media query emergence of Atiku over suspicious source of wealth’. Below is a statement from Atiku's camp made available to PoliticsNGR, addressing the comment; "The attention of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation has been drawn to a sponsored news story on Vanguard newspapers of Saturday, October 20, 2018, with the headline ‘2019: International media query emergence of Atiku over suspicious source of wealth’. In the said report, not one international media was quoted. Rather, it was the notoriously dishonest All Progressives Congress minister of information, Lai Mohammed, who was quoted alleging that that was what the international media told him. Quoting the said story, Vanguard reported as follows: “The minister said: “One curious issue that kept occurring was that anytime I spoke about how we have waged war against corruption, the journalists kept asking me a question. “They asked me: How can you claim to have succeeded in waging war against corruption, when one of the major contestants in the 2019 general elections is actually a man with stupendous wealth but cannot explain the source of his wealth?” How anyone would take the word of a confirmed liar, as Lai Mohammed, for the Gospel truth is beyond us. To show you how unreliable Lai Mohammed is, at the lecture in the Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House) with the topic, “Nigeria’s National Unity: Towards Participation and Shared Values”, which was his main reason for going to London, Lai Mohammed said: “we do not need to do anything extra because we have delivered on all our promises and Nigerians are quite happy and satisfied with the government”. How the minister of information of a government that has turned Nigeria into the world headquarters for extreme poverty can say that is beyond imagination. Is Mr. Mohammed claiming that his party promised and delivered poverty and Nigerians are satisfied with this world record poverty? If Lai Mohammed can lie openly at Chatham House in front of the international press and diplomatic corps, is it a big thing for him to lie about his accounts with the international media? The true position of things is that ever since the emergence of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party after the elective congress of the party on October 6-7, the international media has been agog with praise for Mr. Abubakar and hope for a new dawn in Nigeria. Reuters praised Atiku as having “long enjoyed support from the business elite in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos for his conservative-capitalist ideals”. They went on to further give him kudos for his record in office by saying “as vice president in a PDP administration from 1999-2007, (he) implemented a programme of liberalisation in areas including the telecoms sector.” The number one policy magazine in the world, The Economist, described His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, “as a business-friendly candidate who will get Nigeria’s economy going.” Not one single international paper, magazine, TV station or website has had anything negative to say about the Waziri Adamawa’s emergence. That lie only exists in the fallacious imagination of Lai Mohammed. On the contrary, international media and even reputable global financial institutions have predicted doom for Nigeria should Muhammadu Buhari be re-elected. According to one of the world’s largest banks, HSBC, “a second term for Mr Buhari however raises the risk of limited economic progress and further fiscal deterioration, prolonging the stagnation of his first term, particularly if there is no move towards completing reform of the exchange rate system or fiscal adjustments that diversify government revenues away from oil.” On its own part, The Economist wrote off the Buhari administration as a failure, saying “The 2019 elections will be a close contest between the ruling APC and the PDP. We expect the PDP presidential candidate to win.” Nigerians can no longer be hoodwinked by the Orwellian propaganda that is the signature of this administration. The 2019 presidential election will be determined by Nigerian voters and not by political soothsayers. Nigerians will make a determination whether to settle for incompetence versus competence; cluelessness versus knowhow; joblessness versus employment; restiveness versus engagement; divisiveness versus unity; nepotism versus merit and bigotry versus inclusiveness. https://politicsngr.com/high-priest-fake-news-atiku-attacks-lai-mohammed-reasons/

@POLITICSNGR A Prominent Traditional ruler and his wife has been kidnapped during an attack by Fulani Herdsmen in Kasuwan Magani, Kaduna state, PoliticsNGR has gathered. An Eyewitness to the incident hared the following story and photos below; 'It would be recalled that dozens were killed in Kasuwan Magani an adara community of Kaduna State on Thursday 18th October 2018. News from Makyali on the road to kachia LGC of Kaduna state, has it that the Agom adara (The royal figure of the people) and his wife have been kidnapped, his orderly and four others killed on Friday 19th October 2018. During the massacre on Thursday, the media as always portrayed it like a fight between the Hausa/Fulani and the Natives. The Operation Yaki military personnel were camped just 400m away from the market where the massacre took place but they did nothing until when the local youths regrouped, mobilized and were coming to rescue the survivors then the military stepped in to stop them from saving their people. This adara chief is one of the only two chiefs among indigenous nations in Kaduna state to order that all traditional leaders in his domain must wear traditional African symbols of royalty - the leopard skin, and dump the Ara Turban. Fulanis and Muslims in the Kachia axis vehemently kicked against it and attacked him openly. Now this kidnapped while he was on his way to attend a security meeting. Also, news has it that the adara youths could have actually fought and rescue their royal father and his family but the military won't let them do it. could the Military be colluding as earlier stated by TY Danjuma?' https://politicsngr.com/herdsmen-kidnap-traditional-ruler-kill-police-orderly-kaduna-photos/

@POLITICSNGR Two APC Senatorial aspirants in Adamawa state, Binta Garba and Idris Ahmed nearly exchanged punches recently after clashing over an automatic ticket granted to Binta. PoliticsNGR gathered that Binta, who is the incumbent senator representing Adamawa North, was declared the candidate of the party much to the chagrin of Ahmed and other aspirants. Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, Ahmed disclosed that the APC was not fair to them by not allowing the election to hold. "We were there spending our money, she never went there and a day to the conduct of the primary they told us they have given Binta the ticket. Is that fair? Even PDP with all their impunity has never done that. Let’s not forget that it is fairness (that) brought Buhari to power, otherwise, Jonathan wouldn’t have conceded defeat to him,” he said. I spent over N150 million of my own money, no one from the party even consulted with us and I can assure you that there are well over 1000 of us across the country who were basically swindled. Among the defectors on the delegation were the Mkpat Enin PDP Local Government Chapter Deputy Chairman, Mr. Ukonsek Ukonsek, the Secretary, Comrade Ubong Kingsley, the Youth Leader, Mr. Ime Inoh, and some other members of the Chapter Executive Committee, a former Chapter Chairman, Chief Friday Ayara, a former Chapter Secretary, Comrade Umoren Umoren, a former Member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Ini Brown Ekanem, a former Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government, Dr. Imowo Udobia, a former Vice Chairman of the local government, Mr. Godwin Udofot, and a former Leader of the Local Government Legislative Council, Mr. Friday Okobo. Ndem said, with their defection, the PDP structure in Mkpat Enin, the local government area with the highest number of wards (14) in the state, had collapsed totally into the APC. He assured Ekere of huge votes from the area, saying, "With the votes of Mkpat Enin, you will be strolling into Hilltop Mansion. We believe in you because you are one of our own. We have no reason not to support you. We are here because we see the future of Akwa Ibom State. We want to end tortoise politics in Akwa Ibom State. We are not prepared to support you from behind. We are not ready to play submarine politics. We are ready to support you openly." Also speaking, Ukonsek described their delegation as the "crack team" of Mkpat Enin politics, promising that "we will show the world that we own Mkpat Enin" when they hold a formal defection ceremony at home soon. Responding, Ekere expressed delight that the wind of change had reached Mkpat Enin which shares the federal constituency with his local government area, Ikot Abasi. He reasoned that at the rate the wind of change was spreading across the state, the APC was heading for a 90 per cent win in the 2019 elections. Ekere, who is the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), pointed out that there were several ongoing NDDC projects in Mkpat Enin under his watch and promised to do more for the area as NDDC boss and subsequently as Governor. In her remarks, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Lady Valerie Ebe, who defected to the APC last month, commended Ndem for acting in wisdom and courage, adding that she saw it coming. Her words: "Right from the day I defected, I knew this would happen. I am not surprised. When I left, I knew you will all follow me. The people of Mkpat Enin are itching to support you (Ekere). Nobody should call himself a political junction. We have to follow a straight line." Ebe rejected claims that she was supporting Ekere to be Governor to enable her succeed him as NDDC boss: "I am working for the success of my son (Ekere) here. I am not looking for position. We don't want any position." The APC Akwa Ibom South Senatorial Chairman, Dr. Inyang Dan-Abia, who represented the State Chairman, said he was impressed with the quality of members of the delegation who he described as foot-soldiers that have determined Mkpat Enin politics over the years. He lauded them for coming to support Ekere who he eulogized as "a world-class successful businessman and administrator and a man who is well-exposed in the management of resources." Present during the visit were the APC Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, Dr. Amadu Attai, the APC House of Assembly Candidate for Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Prince Iboro Ekpo, the APC State Assistant Legal Adviser, Barr. Inyang Udo, the Mkpat Enin APC Caucus Chairman, Apostle John Okoriko, the Special Assistant to the NDDC Managing Director on Administration and Human Resources, Pastor Udo Isaiah, the immediate past Member of the House of Representatives for Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo/Mkpat Enin Federal Constituency, Dr. Akpan Micah Umoh, and a former Chairman of Ikot Abasi Local Government, Prince Enobong Ufot. https://politicsngr.com/breaking-house-reps-member-decamps-pdp-apc-photos/

@POLITICSNGR Former APC Presidential Aspirant, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia, has called for the removal of the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, adding that he could cause the President to lose the 2019 Elections. In a statement made available to PoliticsNGR, Ogbonnia said: “The calls for the removal of the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, are widening like wildfire. That is not surprising. Unless the APC wants to risk a crushing defeat in 2019, the party has nowhere to go but to let Mr. Oshiomhole go now. The APC has found itself in a situation where a crown was mistakenly placed on a clown, and the natives were expecting him to perform like a king. “It is time this crisis ends. A growing multitude of party faithful is aggrieved. The party, as a matter of urgency, needs a visionary and result-oriented chairman, from any zone, who has the personality to assuage hurt feelings and the capacity to unite the party in time for the 2019 elections,”. https://politicsngr.com/oshiomhole-will-cause-buharis-defeat-2019-apc-presidential-aspirant/

@POLITICSNGR Below is a statement from the Former deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank on the detention of Ayodele Fayose by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC; The immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has strongly condemned the continued detention of immediate past Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), warning that no harm must happen to the former governor. Frank said the alarm is necessary because of the information available to him that the agency has been instructed ‘by the powers that be’ to either poison or render the outspoken politician (Fayose) incapacitated ahead of the 2019 general elections. In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Frank wondered why somebody who voluntary released himself to the agency should be kept in custody more than 24 hours. The former APC spokesman said that in as much as he will never support corruption, justice must be done to all and sundry. Frank revealed that Fayose is being held by the EFCC not because of any currupt act but because of his outspokenness against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC. He wondered “why former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir Lawal was not detain over allegation of grasscutting scandal, why EFCC refuse to invite the wife of the President Aisha Buhari over recent allegation involving his ADC, why MTN scandal involving Chief of Staff to the President is not investigated, why NNPC scandal involving the GMD Kanti Baru and why allegation of corruption against the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomohle does not interest the agency, among so many others in the ruling party. “The truth is that once you are not a member of APC, you are corrupt but once you join the evil party, your sins are forgiven,” he state. On the plan to render Fayose incapacitated, Frank said: “A Senior staff of the agency last night had to call attention of some opposition leaders to the instruction given to the agency by the presidency to ensure that Fayose does not leave EFCC custody a healthy person. “Another operative early this morning also informed us that a healthy Fayose who walked into headquarters of EFCC yesterday was seen vomiting this morning. I called on Nigerians to pray for Fayose because the evil plan of APC government against the PDP leader is not known yet.” Frank, who urge the former governor not to eat or drink anything coming from the operative of EFCC, also called the attention of the international community to what he described as a selective manner in which President Buhari is fighting corruption in Nigeria. https://politicsngr.com/ex-apc-chieftain-raises-alarm-plot-kill-fayose-efcc-custody-details/

Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, has refuted claims by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, that he (Obono-Obla) is smearing his name over the suit filed against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation on behalf of the SPIP. Okoi Obono-Obla The Federal Government had, on Wednesday, charged Ekweremadu, and Senator Bassey Akpan with alleged refusal to declare their assets to the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property. Akpan represents the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State. IMF charges Nigeria to use external reserves judiciously In his reaction, Ekweremadu accused Obono-Obla of attempting to smear his name “in midst of the current political activities.” But faulting the allegation, Obono-Obla, in a statement by his Media Officer, Emmanuel Nwachukwu, called on Ekweremadu to face the suit instituted against him by the Federal Government, saying that there is no correlation between his non-declaration of asset and the purported claims of a forged Senior School Certificate. The presidential aide said: “Ekweremadu should face his suit against the Federal Government on his non-declaration of asset. His claim of the charge being politically motivated does not hold any water. “Ordinarily, I wont have dignified him with any response but since he chose to bring an issue that is not relevant to the suit filed against him by the Federal Government to the table, “I think it will be imperative for him to know that I have already instituted a case against the House of Representatives in court over the alleged forgery of a Senior School Certificate.” Obla, who gave details of the suit he filed against the House of Representatives, said Ekweremadu should face his case against the Federal Government and stop dragging him into his ordeal. According to the presidential aide, he had sought from the court an originating summons, “Whether the House of Representatives of the National Assembly has the jurisdiction or power to investigate the Plaintiff’s private life, including seeking for his personal educational data or other personal data from West African Examination Council; his secondary school records; university records etc., under the guise of exercise of its oversight function concerning the Plaintiff Chairmanship of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Property? “Whether the House of Representatives of the National Assembly has the jurisdiction or power to investigate the Plaintiff for an alleged crime of certificate forgery or any crime for that matter? “Whether the Ad Hoc Committee of House of Representatives of the National Assembly has the jurisdiction or power to investigate the Plaintiff personally outside the terms of reference which was to investigate the legality of Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Property? “Whether the purported investigation of the Plaintiff educational qualification is not a classic case of witch hunt, blackmail personal vendetta calculated to defame or malign the Plaintiff?” Obono-Obla said he has also sought the following reliefs, “A Declaration that the Constitution of the Ad Hoc Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly as constituted to try the Plaintiff or investigate for an alleged certificate forgery is unconstitutional, illegal, ultra vires, null and void. “A Declaration that the Constitution of the Ad Hoc Committee of the to try or investigate Plaintiff for alleged certificate forgery violates the principles of separation of powers as enshrined under sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). “A Declaration that the Ad Hoc Committee cannot be the accuser, prosecutor and adjudicator (all rolled into one) concerning the allegation framed or made by it against the Plaintiff. “An Order setting aside the Report of the Ad Hoc Committee of the House of Representatives as far as it touches or concern the plaintiff,” among others https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/ekweremadu-should-face-his-false-assets-declaration-obono-obla/

@POLITICSNGR Below is a Press Statement from the First lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, made available to PoliticsNGR, clearing the air on the recent arrest of her ADC over N2.5 billion Fraud; The attention of wife of the President, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has been drawn to some media publications and releases purporting illegal detention of her Aide De Camp (ADC) over allegations of fraud. The story as it pertains to her ADC, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sani Baban-Inna has it that he has been detained on the orders of Her Excellency for dropping her name and defrauding unsuspecting officials and associates. She wishes to use this opportunity to refute such allegation and to state that she has no hand in his arrest and detention. CSP Sani Baban-Inna has been her ADC since 2016 and has been associated with her ever since. To the utter dismay of Her Excellency, he has used the opportunity to defraud unsuspecting associates and officials as initial investigations have shown. The Nigeria Police Force, his employers arrested him to investigate the allegations leveled against him, this, being within their jurisdiction. She therefore wishes to use this opportunity to inform the general public that she has never sent any of her staff to collect any favours on her behalf or on behalf of her children and will never do so. She is therefore imploring anyone that has been defrauded by Mr. Baban-Inna to get across to him to retrieve whatever he took from them. Mrs. Buhari wishes to reiterate that she will not condone fraudulent behavior by any of her staff. She uses this opportunity to call on all those in positions of authority to rise above intimidation by their aides and deal with such attitudes as extortion by name-dropping, especially within the Presidency. As she always emphasizes, this government was voted into office based on the trust and confidence of the people. @POLITICSNGR Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji has made clear his intention to clinch the Kogi East Senatorial Seat. The banking Czar also got a major boost recently when immediate past governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada and his predecessor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris openly endorsed his nomination to run for the seat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIwXgQZsNWQ He visited the former governors separately in Abuja for endorsement after obtaining the PDP nomination form. He described them (Wada and Idris) as credible leaders of the party who have laboured to keep hope alive in Kogi state. The Senate aspirant has so far toured six local government areas in Kogi East to declare his interest to vie for the much-coveted senate seat. In his speech at his declaration in Ofu Local Government, Adoji said he was there as an aspirant for the people to convert him to a candidate. He said he is worried when he sees youths without employment as what he sees are not human beings but industries. “Manifesto was something that was built in the 50s and 60s and it is not a workable material, I will not have one for you. What I will sign with you is a social contract where you will tell me what you will want me to do for you and not what I want to do for you. “The world is evolving and countries are moving away from oil, most developed countries of the world do not rely on mineral resources because they do not even have one, what they rely on is the strength of their innovation. “I will sign a contract with you and will want any other person contesting with me if given the mandate to do so, after 24 months as your Senator I do not move you from where we are to where Kogi East should be, recall me,” he said. He said he was aware that as their Senator, he will not have the budget to build schools, build hospitals, build roads, but would ask them to carry him on their shoulders to where he can drag these basic things down to the people. https://politicsngr.com/dr-victor-adoji-makes-clear-intention-clinch-kogi-east-senatorial-seat/

@POLITICSNGR PDP Presidential Aspirant and Former VP, Atiku Abubakar has reportedly met with Dr. Iyiola Omisore, the governorship candidate of the Social democratic Party, SDP in the ongoing Osun state Elections. PoliticsNGR learned that Omisore has been holding meetings with both officials of the APC and PDP due to the Declaration of Saturday's Gubernatorial Election as 'Inconclusive' due to electoral malpractices in some areas. Omisore happens to have influence in those areas. Until May, Omisore was in the PDP, but he left after it was clear the party’s power brokers had settled to hand the governorship ticket to Ademola Adeleke, brother of the late Isiaka Adele, who had himself defected to the PDP after the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to hand him the ticket for the senatorial bye-election to replace his brother, who had died in April 2017. PDP leaders notably Bukola Saraki, the Senate President, and Abiodun Olujimi, the Senator representing Ekiti South at the National Assembly have been visiting Omisore in Osun State in a bid to convince him to pass on his supporters to PDP, a scenario that would likely bring Omisore’s former party, and Adeleke his political adversary, to power. A source privy to details of the meeting said; “Atiku had first of all spoken to him on the phone yesterday, but the former Vice President traveled to Osogbo this afternoon to physically meeting with him. I won’t tell you specifically what went down at the meeting but I can generally tell you that it was all about convincing Omisore to work for the APC ahead of the rerun. Some offers have been made but we’d see how it goes.” https://politicsngr.com/breaking-saraki-atiku-visits-omisore-osun-elections/ cc: lalasticlala
