Richtaiwo:Yes Sir! There has to be an intentional population control. The amout of poor and illiterate Nigerians is still staggering which the government and resources cannot fully cater for. The rapid population growth is putting enormous pressure on the available resources. That’s why you’ll notice that everyone is doing anything and everything possible to make it out of poverty. There is no calmness in the land at all. All these case of kidnapping, yahoo boys, banditry,etc.. are as a result of desperation to make it out of poverty at all cost coupled with poor upbringing from poor homes where the parents usually gave birth to multiple children they couldn’t afford for. This is just the reality. Take the case of a nuclear family and an extend family and compare the chances to successful and quality of life for especially the kids. Whilst corruption and bad governance cannot be seen as the main culprits, uncontrolled population growth is also part of the equation. |
saintkel:Isn’t Nairaland an African forum? |
NOETHNICITY:So you’re even bringing Osama Bin Laden into this conversation as comparison? Are you ok at all? This is obviously a big indictment on you. You just proved his point in 1000 ways |
favour32:A Kign who is already a convicted criminal? Where is thy shame dignity? Common! |
Ezeama400:Islams growth is actually slowing down even in the Middle East. Moslems are either converting to Christianity or Atheist all thanks to modernity and exposure |
Pogba12:Not until all these sharia law behaviors are eliminated. Eliminate Sharia law and watch religious extremism and terrorism plummet, talents blossom, state revenues skyrockets , businesses flourish, new investments in currently dormant industries such as hospitality, tourism, lifestyle and culture come to life like a colossus. The Arabs from Saudi and Qatar have understood this already and have taken advantage of it. The difference is clear. You the enlightened guys from the North needs to speak up boldly for the region. |
OVB123:No bro. Illorin is already miles ahead. A lot is happening in Ilorin right now. It’s skyline is rapidly changing and roads are getting retouched. Even the accent parts of the town are giving way to modernity. I just don’t like the fact that there are still lots of people who didn’t go to school in that city who are mostly Moslems. Ogbomosho dey try. But it’s still far from Illorin’s league. It’s just a bit advanced than Offa in Kwara state |
Fiscus105:So it should now be the students who should bear the burden just so that JAMB could fit into the 2 months timetable period right ? Can you listen to yourself saying this rubbish ? Does this excuse even make any sense to you at all? On a normal day, the entire JAMB big goons should have honorable resigned their positions in the first place. You’re not even reasoning about some students who would’ve even travel overseas for holidays after writing their JAMB exams. How do expect them to just fly back to Nigeria to write the exam within few day’s notice. JAMB was supposed to have been creative by deploying technology such that every students could have written the exam irrespective of where they were located. They can ever look for academic centers in and outside of Nigeria to have helped them conduct the exam which could’ve ensured more students participating. |
Just40:The point is that Nigeria produces most things it consumes unlike Ghana. Nigeria is way industrialized. So even with all these inflation, currency devaluation,etc.. goods and services are still cheaper and affordable than in Ghana. I even believed that the Nigerian economy can never crash no matter how bad economic situations are because it’s innately made resilient due to these two factors unlike many other African countries. Vegetable oil is sold in different sachet sizes and is all over the place. It’s just simple logic that the average person will decide to go for the sachets and smaller containers ones rather than the 25L. The options are just too readily available. |
BItt:Which ones have you been winning that you should be loosing some ? |
saintkel:Once you see Airpeace to travel in, your heart will be at peace. I even trust Airpeace than Delta or British Airways |
As long as the country continues to have SHARIAH LAW legalized, all these war against terrorism would only continue to be a facade and terrorists enclaves will still continue to fester. All these new groups springing up everywhere and new ones expanding are easily banking on SHARIA LAW to do so. If the government wants to be very serious about ending terrorism, they first of all need to eliminate that law from the country. Until that time….. |
I don’t think the motivation to Japa by Medical Doctors is about infrastructure. I’ve observed that it stems mainly by work demotivation being fueled by: 1) Poor salaries not commensurate to the amount of work/commitments they are investing into their various roles. How do you expect a healthcare worker who has dedicated all his years youthful years to studying medicine and allied health sciences and still giving his unflinching dedicated services to serving his nation to be happy that he cannot even boost of owing a simple car or a house whilst seeing politicians and others who didn’t put in 1/9th of his efforts living in opulence with taxpayers monies he’s also contributing to? With all these news of missing monies and embezzlement flying all over the place, do you still expect him to be happy about his own situation? 2) Overworking and burnout at work ( most of the seniors in the various hospital departments still believe in old school and rigid methods of executing administration). Clinical staff will be giving clerical and technician duties when it’s clearly not their JDs all in the name of “They need to demonstrate they are hardworking”. These administrators still glorify modern day slavery for hardwork. The modern day healthcare staff is wants to multitask and be skilled in other areas. They want to be entrepreneurs too because they’ve learnt enough lessons from others that salaries alone is not enough. How do you encourage them to get these extra skills ,grow and integrate these skills into their various health work spaces is very important rather than outrightly creating rigid work schedules that prevents them from doing so. Definitely, their will be disaffection when the latter happens. Politicians needs to start showing that they are responsible enough to manage state resources well. This will reenergize hopes. Salaries and other emoluments must match efforts of healthcare workers. There has to be salary harmonization processes to get this done. If possible, car and housing loans should be introduced or even at least, establish healthcare estates or flats for them for which annual rents can be deducted from their salaries in small amounts. Befitting buses can be provided to convey them to-and-fro their work places. Introduce incentives for those who will want to go into postgraduate training like residency and others. Motivation for vertical growth must be provided. Hospital administrators should also do their parts by modernizing work schedules and shouldn’t see their juniors as their errand boys and girls and they should also get the appropriate staffing rather than pushing clinical staff from taking extra roles which they weren’t trained and employed for all in the name of managing staff numbers. ProblemChild1:I honestly pity dwellers in Gwagadala ,Nyanya and others of similar status. They will soon be joining this league |

Ruke1989:All these security issues, rampant kidnappings and occasional political instability in the Niger Delta and other SE states are not helping these regions in terms of attracting significant foreign investments. Lagos has learned to adequately managed these events. Most of the youths involved in these crimes and politicians/persons perpetrating these things should understand that they’re only creating a cycle of generational problems for those regions. |

PresidObi:I think it’s greed primarily from both the parents and their yahoo yahoo children. First of all, why would a parent give birth to so many children that can’t cater for. Go and check the stats. Most of those who are into these crimes comes from backgrounds were their parents gave birth to lots of children and couldn’t properly care for them, which the way they carry themselves, the type of friends they keep, etc.. Trust me, someone with one or two kids should be able to train them well on average , provide good parenting and give them an assured future no matter how bad the economy is. You will see a grown up 65-70 years old man doing bus conductor and he’s married with 2-3 wives with several kids with the last one being around 3-5 years. Now you tell me, how will he properly raised those kids and provide them an assured future? Why won’t some of the older kids end up going into crimes as a way of escaping the harsh realities of poverty. Don’t you think the parents themselves wouldn’t actually care to know how the money was made since they themselves are just too desperate to enjoy the good life. A whole societal regeneration is needed to change this Yahoo Yahoo menace. Birth control, good parenting, civic engagements, amongst many are critical components to achieving this. Gov’t has to be bery bold about introducing some population control measures for a limited period say 20-30 years. This has far reaching positive implications in curtailing some of the societal challenges beyond yahoo yahoo. |
susaeta:So what’s your last price ? |
AMKAG66: |
I'm interested. I'm staying in Ilorin. can I pay 3.4 ? |
Maybe the attitudes of the Ogas at the top to to their subordinates should be looked at very keenly as well. This is one reason why young Doctors and other healthcare professionals are leaving in droves and and not taking interest in postgraduate programs like residency trainings. It’s a strong push factor! |

Autossolutions:Is this car still available? |

donleo92:It’s not always about poverty ohh. Sometimes it’s just sheer inate greed that we blacks have |
Still available? Last price ? |
What’s your last price? Do you deliver? I’m staying in Ilorin |
LivingSage:There are ohh. I’ve seen a lot in Ilorin especially those shepherd boys and some who are child street beggars. The ones I’ve come across are all from the Nothern region. I honestly think it’s unfair to those kids you know. It makes me feel uneasy all the time seeing them like that. Their parents needs to be educated on the importance of ensuring those kids are in school and I also believe both the federal and state governments should make Basic education compulsory and free for every child of school going age; from Prmary school to the completion of their WAEC exams. Parents should be then punished for not sending their kids/wards to school. |
