Havertz played 8 games as a striker last season and scored 8 goals. He is an accomplished striker.

For me, Havertz needs to be more central either at number 8/10 where he can create and make late runs into the box for tap-ins, or as a number 9, where he can use his height and frame to hold up the ball, or drop deep like firmino to overload midfield areas.

One thing i'm sure of is that Werner is not a box striker, so we will either need our midfield to serve him on a plate, or we put a presence in the box and let Werner use his pace and hustle across the front lines.

The RLC experiment surely was over at least 3 seasons ago, we've played him everywhere from DM when we thought he could be Pogba, to CM, to AM, to even striker under Conte and yesterday. The guy is unplayable for real - no right thinking coach should play him in our Jersey.

Maybe keep him for depth, and give him a few appearances now and again, but hes not first team material abeg.

Werner yesterday admitted it was his first time playing against 3 big defenders. If he were to be explicit enough, he would have narrated his ordeal much more appropriately to capture the new experience.

If this kind of experience could have eluded Werner with his age advantage over Havertz and in a familiar role, what will happen and how will Havertz cope considering it is a not too familiar role for him, his young age and physicality which is not convincing to me.

We have a tested and trusted striker in Werner, on the bench is Giroud and Abraham who outscored Drogba in their respective debut seasons, wingers with better stats in Pullisic and Ziyech, then what stop us from giving room for our best leg in the midfield to establish himself in that position regardless of our plight, injury, suspension and what have you.

I will not raise an eyebrow if they switch positions during play.

But when Barkley came in and started dropping deep connecting midfield and attack, with Mount pushing to the sides. Both he and Havertz game improved. Werner was great because he had preseason and played 2 more games, like Kante and Jorginho.

What stops both RLC and Mount from dropping deep?

That they haven't played a game together is just as it is. However, it is now glaring that RLC cannot come any good for Chelsea while Mount should be considered on the bench.

For close to 15 minutes, he did not receive the ball and was just running here and there. That is a player supposedly should see most of the balls if played in his primary position.

Onward, I subscribe to Havertz, Kovacic and Kante midfield.

In that match, many scored him lowly if I can still remember vividly. On those occasions he was paraded on the RW, it has clearly shown the wing is not his.

Hence, we should not go on a journey of limiting him.

Pressing Mount? I have grouse with that. How can a player, a midfielder be measured for pressing alone, what about other important attributes of a midfielder? He can hardly maintain possession and passing is not his.

Why won't one have second thought about his tactical ability if he can setup the way he did last night, allow RLC stayed up for an hour on the pitch doing nothing and couldn't observe the lack connection in the midfield cum no defense-midfield transition that was conspicuous.

The first half, it was expected of him to request Havertz and RLC to switch positions so as to allow the former opportunity in his best position and have a good debut, while allow that idiotic latter to continue his foolishness on the RW.

Those and many others make me apprehensive of his capability.

I believe those who are of the opinion that Havertz can play anywhere upfront can now have a rethink.

Someone, Ibime I guess even went as far as saying he can play the striking position.

His ability is suitable for AM. I was mad at Lampard for playing him out of position, perhaps he will learn going forward.

RLC should not see shirt again at Chelsea, any hope of an improvement with his age is a futile expectation.

Once again, today's match established that Kovacic is an integral part of our midfield. No other midfielder of ours has the same attribute with him.

Werner is an hustler, give to him. With him, a fit Pullisic, Ziyech with his rare gift of passing as well as Havertz, we're good to go to compete on all fronts.

My fear now is Lampard.

I have said it before, it's very rare to find a perfectly balanced full back. The closest we have had was Felipe Luis but he couldn't adapt to our team very well before going back to spain. I think chillwells' signing is a good one.
