Nobody is really bad or good as per marital union. The problem is that most married women still believe they deserve better and usually starts taking their husbands for granted over time, especially those married to average men they were not really attracted to.

Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, has mourned the death of former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who died at the age of 90.


Tukur, a former governor of the old Gongola State, also served as Minister of Industries during the military administration of the late General Sani Abacha.

He is expected to be buried in Yola on Sunday.

In a condolence statement personally signed by him, Ibori paid tribute to Tukur as a patriotic Nigerian who served the country with distinction in the various capacities he occupied.

Reflecting on Tukur’s record in public life, Ibori described him as a man of outstanding accomplishments whose contributions extended across politics and business.

According to him, Tukur was also a leader who firmly believed in creating opportunities for younger Nigerians to emerge and contribute to the country’s development.

Ibori recalled that this commitment to generational change was evident when Tukur marked his 80th birthday and announced his decision to withdraw from partisan politics.


“He announced that he was quitting partisan politics to give room to younger ones and remain a statesman and adviser,” Ibori recalled.

Ibori, who recounted his early political association with the late politician, revealed that he worked in Tukur’s presidential campaign organisation in 1992.

“I worked in his campaign organisation as a Local Government Coordinator in 1992 when he was contesting the presidency, after I contested and lost my House of Representatives election in 1991 under the NRC,” he said.

“He was contesting the presidency under the NRC alongside Adamu Ciroma, Umaru Shinkafi and others,” he recalled.

Beyond their political association, Ibori emphasised the depth of experience Tukur brought to national affairs, describing his death as a significant loss to the country.


“Nigeria has lost one of its finest gentlemen, whose wealth of experience and deep knowledge of our national history will be missed,” he said.

As Nigeria approaches another general election, Ibori said the absence of the former PDP chairman would be particularly felt by those who valued his counsel and experience.

“We will miss his wise counsel, especially as we are moving towards a general election,” he added.

Realistically, he stands a good chance of getting 25% in the six states and FCT that you listed. He barely got around 10% in Kogi in 2023 so there is no magic that will take him to 25% in the state in 2027. He has lost massive ground to Tinubu in southern kaduna so I don't see any miracle that can take him to 25% in Kaduna state this time around.

Overall, Peter Obi still has no realistic pathway to victory just like Atiku. In the south, he can only get 25% in 12 states. In the north, he can only get it in 7 states. So, that brings him to 19. Where will he get the remaining six states from?

This is directed at some Yoruba people who think they are being “liberal.” Please, don’t repeat the mistake we made in the last election. I am not exaggerating things here. Look at the behaviour of some people around you—the greed and the spirit of “winner takes all” are evident in some workplaces and business environments. In my own field, we have had reasons to be extremely cautious in our dealings.

You saw what happened in Alimosho Local Government. An Igbo man who was given a House of Representatives ticket to represent the constituency reportedly gave out 25 scholarships to people in the constituency to study abroad. Guess what? Twenty-one of them were reportedly of Igbo origin, while only four were Yoruba. In Yorubaland? To me, this raises serious questions about representation, fairness, and the interests being prioritised.

They will spend a fortune to ensure that a street is named after them. This is partly because of the few Yoruba men in positions of authority who, in my opinion, have sold their birthright for a plate of porridge.

You all know that, apart from being a public critic and political analyst, I am a professional land and property surveyor.

Something happened recently. A Yoruba man bought a very sizeable piece of land in one of the expensive estates here in Lagos and decided to turn it into a private estate, naming it after his late mother. Before we could say “Jack Robinson,” an Igbo guy who had acquired two plots of land quickly approached the local government to have the crescent named after himself. We woke up one day and saw a signpost bearing his name.

And then there is social media.

They are everywhere—what I would describe as “social media bandits and character assassins.” Once you do not support Peter Obi, they will abuse you, insult you, and even attack your family and your generation. They constantly try to force the Peter Obi narrative on everyone, as though Nigerians are not entitled to their own opinions.

What is even more disturbing is that some of them appear so blinded by their political loyalty that they cannot acknowledge anything positive happening under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu does not have a magic wand. You cannot expect him to transform the Nigerian economy overnight. Turning around an economy as complex as Nigeria’s takes time, difficult decisions, consistent policies and sustained implementation.

Whether you support Tinubu or not, there are policies and infrastructural projects across the country that deserve to be acknowledged and properly assessed. The important thing is to give these policies time to produce results while continuing to hold the government accountable.

For me, 2027 is not about emotions, ethnic sentiments, social-media propaganda or insults. It is about competence, continuity, stability, national interest and the direction in which Nigeria is moving.

We must be careful not to repeat the mistakes of 2023 though Peter Obi came a distance third position in the election, to me Nigerians are too generous to have given Peter Obi such votes.

If you like insult me and abuse the hell out of me like Asiwaju once said ., I don't care until one of you wakes up one day and tell you people to stop the nonsense else no Igbo man will rule this country.

By September 2026, whether Peter Obi will contest the 2027 presidential election on the NDC ticket SHOULD BE SETTLED BY NOW!!. The party has nominated him. Rabiu Kwankwaso has been named as running mate. Campaign season is here.

Yet Ojy Okpe asked him two simple questions. Would he step down for Atiku in an opposition alliance? If push came to shove and there was a genuine coalition, would Peter Obi step down?

If the matter is settled, the answer should have been equally simple: “No. I am the NDC presidential candidate. I am contesting.”

Instead, we got corporations, CEOs, shareholders, institutions and party processes. Obi argued that such a decision was no longer his alone because the parties would have to decide collectively.

And especially curious for perhaps Nigeria’s most personality-driven political movement. The Obidient movement did not remain behind when Obi left Labour. It followed him to ADC and then NDC. The vehicle changed. The passengers followed the driver.

Obi’s recent appearance around Seyi Makinde only makes clarity more important. It proves no secret deal, but in an atmosphere already filled with speculation about opposition realignments, ambiguity is terrible messaging.

If Obi is definitely contesting, say so. If the ticket remains negotiable, say that too.

But by September 2026, the candidate should not still sound like an aspirant.

And to speak plainly and truthfully, it may not be Obi at the end of the day.. Nigeria Presidential seat is not the same as a Guber seat. I have hinted at this before. Obi while he is good for the sake of democratic process, he is still a lightweight on the national level. And even SE politics in general.
