let's take it this way. Lagos is the smallest state in Nigeria with a landmass of slightly over 3,500 sqkm of which water covers about 30% of the landmass thereby further reducing the landmass of the state to about 3,000 sqkm. Lagos is the most populated state in Africa, has the highest number of companies, headquarters, factories, financial institutions and residential houses in West Africa when compared to other states, houses Africa's largest refinery and tomato processing plant, working on the lekki free trade zone, building 2 new seaports in Lekki and Badagry to add to the existing Apapa port, has the busiest airport in Nigeria, receives the most foreign visitors in Nigeria, investing in agriculture etc. All these things are in Lagos with its small landmass and yet, the state has not run out of landmass in many areas of the state like Epe, Badagry, Agege, Ikorodu, Ajah, Mile 2, Ikotun, Lekki etc.
The south-east has a landmass of over 29,500 sqkm with an estimated population of over 20 million people. Now, compare the SE to Lagos and tell me if the SE is not big enough for 4 times the total population of the Igbo race?

Chukwu Gozie Gi Nwannem.

This is similar thing I educated folks on facebook and their eyes opened, from 3_3 Onitsha to Otuocha and Nteje can comfortably accommodate Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka population when the land is judiciously used.

You failed to mention that SE build vertical houses in 50*100ft plot of land housing 8 or 12 flats accommodating same number of family, but Lagos build duplex in 100*100ft plot of land than can end up accommodating only four families. Lagos have more horizontal buildings than vertical and city population is high in the areas with poor housing.

From Agbor to Asaba is farther from Awka to Onitsha but from Agbor is sparsely populated and much of rush rainforest.

Many people don't understand land economics and prudent management, SE is very prudent with land.

Please enough of that back and forth argument, we have generally admitted that Onitsha public health sector is in shambles. Obiano have done well but we are calling for more investment in health and environment, as well as road construction . If you people continue this back and forth argument we will lose sight to what we are targeting from this site because same individual will argue you and counter-argue you with multiple handles and everybody will be distracted by the insults and abuses.

Lets allow this argument die instantly since a common consensus have been reached,

Kindly accept my plea.

Thanks

I am ready for them. Thats how they shell out sycophantic messages everywhere lying to the people and the people in authority because of mere crumbs.

Our healthcare system is in shambles. Obiano is trying but we need to expedite actions. We are losing patients to Enugu and Asaba. Why will I refer a patient to Boromeo, Iyienu or waterside from the hinterland when Onitsha general is there.? Onitsha does not have incubators for newborns.... can you beat that. NAUTH is always filled to the brim. Government hospitals are always affordable why reffer patients to private hospitals.
No general hospital in Anambra has ICU, NICU and SBCU...go figure

One thing i know is that anyone supporting evil out of sentiment will surely one day be victim of his own crime, this is my guiding light as it concerns governance and development of public infrastructures.
When Ziks Avenue by Ochanja was covered by plastic waste, we called out ANSG and they intervened swiftly and evacuated the waste but many m0r0ns were attacking us for washing out dirty linen in the public. As far as i know Nigeria is a cesspit of ignoble living but i wouldn't allow my own state to be in the bottom barrel of the shithole, we might not be at the top but we cant afford to live below average.

Now people are dying daily in Northern Nigeria from both preventable and non preventable causes but you rarely see Northerners criticize their government, they are on Twitter either attacking IPOB or Trump but their region is on fire. Many dogs here will be hailing them for being sane and wise just because they choose to die in silence.

Inland Town, Awada and Nkpor need specialist hospitals to balance the increasing population

OreMI22:

Don't mind that raker thing.

I am sure he is one of those useless cult boys that failed out of medical school and has already set up another quack clinic somewhere in Onitsha exploiting innocent people. A topic like this ruffle their feather because it exposes their criminal activities in the city where they pose as qualified doctors and they are not.

I have made it clear that i don't support nor castigate any governor. I am only happy that the current government is investing in healthcare in Onitsha after many years of neglect. Then i gave my reason to prove that Onitsha in particular had lagged behind other cities in public healthcare when compared to it's size. It should not upset anyone EXCEPT they are benefiting through some criminal activities exploiting the status quo.

@raker300, you are nothing but an emotional wreck. Since you have been recruited into the folds of those that defeat logic with sentiments I got no words to waste on you.
You all can go and die because someone said there are better hospitals in Enugu than Onitsha which is a universal fact.
In 2001 when my in-law was involved in a ghastly motor accident, it was in a specialist hospital that he was taken to after few months in one hospital at Venn Road South I have forgotten it's name.
in 2012 when I needed to be attended medically it was at FMC Asaba most people suggested and I used it.

There is no mincing word over it, you all can be as emotional and sentimental as you wish but just pray you don't sneak yourselves or love ones to either Enugu or Asaba in search of the best medical attention just because you used Your Own mouth to ruin your destiny.

Onitsha need more investment in the health sector, the percentage of medical personnel per the city population is infinitesimally low.
You all should kiss the truth and stop being sentimental bastards.

What he is advocating for is corresponding government investment in public health facilities in Onitsha since what we currently have are private and mission hospitals. Onitsha doesn't have public health facility that is up to standard, Onitsha General Hospital is not enough for a city with high energy and population like Onitsha. If you compare what ANSG is investing in health in Onitsha and divide it by the population you will catch his drift. How can there be only one obsolete General Hospital in Onitsha, this is absurd and disgusting.

Obi1kenobi:

There are only 21 Federal Medical Centres in Nigeria and 19 Teaching Hospitals (excluding Abuja). That's 40 in total for the 36 states. Only a few states have 2 of these: Ebonyi being one of very few. Anambra has one: a teaching hospital. Same with mighty states like Rivers, Kano, Kaduna, Oyo and Ogun who only have one. While it's true we should aspire for more, your claim was somewhat misleading making it out like we are a rare case.
And Anambra from my experience has one of the highest concentrations of hospitals/clinics/medical centers in the country - mostly private owned. There is greater access to healthcare in Anambra than most states in the federation.

Obiano's transformation of Onitsha Hospital is quiet commendable, not disputing that. The issue with Ngige and Obi was that they came when Anambra was almost a failed state and the tremendous improvement the state made aftermath can be credited to both.
My grouse with Obiano is that he inherited a solvent state but keep messing up, what if he was bequeathed with a state like Osun or Abia i wonder what we will be doing by now. Anambra development should have pass the current stage and the plethora of abandoned projects littering the state is another sore point oh his administration.

He made considerable progress in advancing the state in many sectors that were comatose before his entrance but he really messed up with petty clannish and vindictive politics.

Any rabbies infested dog that bark at me will be roundly ignored

OreMI22:
^^^^^

Despite ranting for 5 pages, the dog will not post even ONE city in entire Nigeria EXCEPT Onitsha that does not have a Teaching Hospital or a Federal Medical Center.

But he will try in Vain to post Pictures of Catholic hospital and Anglican hospitals in the Onitsha and try to pass them off as Government Tertiary Hospitals.

I hope anyone who has viewed this thread understand my own outrage against Ngige and Peter Obi when they failed to upgrade Onitsha General Hospital to a Specialist Hospital or a branch of Anambra State University teaching Hospital.

Even cities like Abakaliki which we like to laugh at have two better tertiary hospital system compared to Onitsha which has none.
To break this down in plain language for a lay person. What i am saying is that if you have a road traffic accident in Onitsha or Abakaliki which involve fractures and advanced medical care, you are very likely to die if you had the accident in Onitsha than if you had the accident in Abakaliki or even Aba!

This is why i think providing a solid and well equipped tertiary hospital in Onitsha will be Obiano's greatest legacy not necessarily building of flyover. Just as building University of Nigeria Nsukka, to educate masses of people in Nigeria rather than going abroad for university education was Zik's greatest legacy not really all the roads he tarred in Enu-Onicha.

I got you 100%
Apart from Toronto, Borromeow, Waterside and Iyienu which are private hospitals, Onitsha does not have public hospital. Onitsha General Hospital was like a poultry pen and there is neither a teaching hospital nor an FMC with the city limit. If i had gotten the needed warchest to invest in Onitsha with the feasibility studies i have done, a university, a shopping mall and a hospital/ hotel with recreational facilities will be given serious consideration. I surveyed Awada, Ugwuagba, ibollo Obosi areas. A place that can be accessible via both Ezeiweka and Obosi Road connecting through Obosi flyover along Onitsha - Owerri Expressway.
That corner is a forgotten business goldmine waiting to be explored. if ANSG can expand EzeIweka and connect it with Obosi Road, that area will develop with lots of businesses moving there.

OreMI22:
Anyone with sense viewing this thread should simply say; "Let me get a list of big cities in Nigeria and find which ones the size of Onitsha does not have a Teaching Hospital or Federal Medical Center so that Oremi22 will shut up".

Just quote 1 city with about 1 million people the size of Onitsha in Nigeria without a Teaching Hospital or Federal Medical center. Many even have two! /b]

[b]Instead of posting pictures of private and mission hospitals in Onitsha trying to deceive your father who knows the place better than you.
