Commissioning of Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre Awka

Located along Enugu/Onitsha Expressway, opposite Udoka Housing Estate Awka, Anambra State, Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre is a shopping and event centre. The centre houses a moderate capacity detached Chapel, a Supermarket, Restaurant, Saloon and two exquisite event halls suitable for all kind of events.

StanelWorld at Federal Express now Uche Ekwunife the same Federal Express, even Orient Petroleum is at the Federal Express, ABS, NAU, all the hotels, all the banks,... why because the state failed to open up new layouts that will force businesses to relocate and reduce the pressure on the Federal Express. As it is in Onitsha so it is in Awka... the state have failed woefully in opening up new layout, you can't find a befitting place along Anambra Federal expressways you relocate to Asaba.

Anambra cities are like toads, they jumped up squatting and landed squatting.

The whole of Awada, Ugwuagba,Ibollo all in Obosi with a population of over 2 million people are lacking in roads or other basic infrastructure. The govt can partner with the landlords to build at least all the major roads in the area in a year or 2 which will help to increase the Igr of the state.

We come online to celebrate individuals buildings and our government run away with murder. People are posting images from GRA where less than 1% of the city reside. Densely populated places like Nkpor, Woliwo, Awada, Ugwuagba they don't post their roads but their buildings.

@OREMI22, the reason why land is expensive in Anambra State is because of the capitalist tendencies of the state, everything has been monetized, even at Ihiala house rent cost as much as in some part of Lagos. Oba is a cut throat experience, the locals will fleece you while the agents will continue to extort from you.

Anambra State government have failed in opening up satellite towns and connecting places that will reduce the crowding of Onitsha. Everybody wants to buy land closer to the Federal Express ways because the state can't open other places with expansive roads.

If Anambra was able to open up 33 - Nkwelle - Nsugbe axis and drag one project there likes a state polytechnic , the pressure will reduce drastically in other places.

Oba Old and New Roads the pressure along the expressway will shift. Massive development is ongoing at Oba now, though the lands could be affordable but the development levy is punitive.

Ogbaru is waterlogged but it can still be salvaged if there is the political will to do.
Peter Obi was too foolish to have allowed the Abada sellers to build under the Niger bridge.

You're not been sincere to Anambra people with your shallow excuse. If Ebonyi State can dualized many roads with solid work despite her low IGR and federal allocation.

Rochas has dualized more roads and expanded others than the either Anambra State government from 99 till today, you might tag his projects substandard but the bush paths Anambra State government pour hot asphalt on aren't even better.

Nnamani opened up many places in Enugu and built solid infrastructures that is why Enugu is the choiced place for real estate in Igboland today. Enugu government open up connecting satellite town to link the main city while Anambra State is busy building roads to agrarian communities that have less economic impact on the populace.

If Anambra cities are witnessing upsurge in population due to the volatile nature of Northern Nigeria. If our government have a little bit creative and proactive they would be attending to the cities cry for expansion of infrastructures.

Am Very ashamed whenever Anambra people come online to brag about infrastructures but they can't even point to a single project they are proud of. Many states now and building expansive roads with high raised sidewalks and closed drainages, some loud mouthed people in Anambra State are still making noise of good roads network that are poorly executed.

infrastructurally there is nothing to celebrate in Anambra State unless you're under the government payroll or have sold your soul to the devil by telling lies online.

Anambra State government have not been creative and proactive. Onitsha and Chicago have a lot in common if we had been luckier with great governors. Chicago have the most balanced economy in the US, something Onitsha would have given to Anambra when you fuse Awka and Nnewi together as one economy.

Onitsha economy is still trade dominated with services and manufacturing contributing less than 20% of the GDP.

If Anambra State had opened up 3-3 Area, Oba and Nsugbe to reduce the influx of wealthy Onitsha business community into Asaba we would have added more jobs than trading in the state.

Apart from NAU , COOU and Okopoly, the impact of the private universities in the state are not felt. Tourism business is dead in Anambra State, Obaino after making noise of developing Ogbunike and Owelle Ezukana Caves to boost tourism, he has gone back to his shell. Agulu Lake Hotel is taking decades to complete but they noise surrounding it can cause a tremor.

As big as Awada, Nkpor are non have no shopping malls, I'm not saying its Obaino's fault here but when you just realized government have not done enough in these areas you will understand why investors won't go there.

Nnewi Mall is abandoned, Awka Mall is abandoned, Onitsha Hotel is abandoned...can we collectively conclude that the government is behind the death of tourism business in the state since they have failed in every angle to provide tourism enabling infrastructures in place.

Since 99 no government in Anambra State have been able to dualized any road, all the roads are ridden with open gutters and potholes, they can't even accommodate two Keke at the same time yet container trucks are allowed to park everywhere.

Onitsha need investment in medicine, academic, IT, tourism to challenge over dependence on trading community. Anambra State government should place embargo on building of markets until the ones built are fully taken over. Onitsha indegenes with alot of educated and informed elites should have built a community university in their hometown if they don't have an individual that can bankroll that.

Onitsha indigenes too aren't helping matter, see how other towns indegenes are developing their places but you won't see them bring investment to their hometown.

Forget that woman, she is an usurper, who made her omu Anioma. Anioma is not an ethnic nationality, it's just an acronym, Is Anioma a distinct people or political identity created to unify igbos in Delta State , the woman is too shallow to be taken serious. I once listened to her speak in one event she was invited and I was somehow ashamed, she was castigating SE for every decision they took and the once they never took while praising Anioma. She even suggested SE Igbos should start marrying. many wives and be bearing multiple children like Hausas.

Sometimes she make sense along the line the start yabbin bullshit.

I think it's high time we stop debating this issue here lest we forget what we are here for, enough of this argument please.

I recently discussed the failings of Yoruba men with some Nigerian women of different age groups and generations. As I’m sure you are aware that Yoruba men have a reputation of being liars, cheaters and egotistical humans. I acknowledge that this is an over-generalisation, and I am not here to point fingers at my tribal brothers, I would simply like to discuss this issue in attempt to gain some clarity. My main question is this; “is this reputation a result of evil doers, or evil tale bearers?” If you permit, I will now continue.

About three years ago a friend said to me; ‘Dami I cannot believe he did this!’ I said to her ‘what did you expect?’ You see my friend was cheated on by her Yoruba boyfriend. They had been together for over five years and marriage was the long term goal (In her opinion). Once I made that statement, I was ashamed, I apologised and went on to console her by calling him several wicked names. Yet I knew, that no matter how many times I cussed him out, the sting of the blow would not soften. She did not see it coming, I did not see it coming, yet the innate voice within both of us said; “what did you expect?” Although we had both become indifferent to hearing tales of cheating Yoruba men, we did not actively expect it would happen to any of us. This made the reality painful and difficult to bear.

I have several tales to tell of the ‘cheating Yoruba man’, as I’m sure you all do. However, I am desperate to find statistics that say that these men are as bad as the stories tell. Have these ideas been misconstrued and propagated by those with an agenda? Folklore and modern essays complain about the Yoruba man and his love for the ‘fairer sex’. I was once advised that due to the fact that many Igbo men are Catholics, they are afraid of committing ‘mortal sins’ like adultery; but I’m not convinced. African American women are plagued with tales of the ‘cheating black men’. So is this a black man issue, as opposed to a Yoruba one?

When Maje Ayida was accused of cheating and impregnating ‘the other woman’, people began to insult Yoruba men. However, he is not a Yoruba Man. Today as I write this article I’m conflicted. You see, my friend left her boyfriend sharply, but knowing her, I know that if she was a few years older she would have overlooked it as a common misdemeanour or ‘a non-event’ and I may have never heard of it. As I reconcile myself with this ghastly truth I asked myself; has this ‘habit’ been propagated by women? I do not believe that men cheat because their wife was not sufficient in a certain area. I am convinced that people; men and women alike, cheat because they cannot say no, they simply lack self control and temperance, in that given moment. But when men do cheat, have women become complacent and accepted this as gospel; saying ‘Boys will be boys’?

As I sat with those women, I heard them tell stories, some tales were over half a century old. Am I too bold to say that these ‘Yoruba cheaters’ continued to cheat as women dealt with things that were more important? After all, the life of a woman is not an easy one. Back in the day, these men married several wives who met their needs accordingly. Has religion and westernisation attempted to stifle their natural instincts? Is it true that all African men are polygamous by nature? After all, Bill Clinton was neither African, black nor Yoruba! As a result I am convinced that there is nothing a woman can do to prevent any man, black or white from cheating. Maybe these are vices that will just not go away.

That conversation caused me to ask several questions. Is cheating to be expected if married to a Yoruba man? Should women be grateful when their Yoruba men don’t cheat? If women demanded faithfulness, will they receive it? Is this a plague, or a cultural norm? Should women accept it or ask for better? Is this a fault in the way men have been raised? When men do cheat, is it a woman’s sole responsibility to reclaim her home? Is it true that a woman of virtue forgives her husband of all sins in advance? Are Yoruba men really worse than their counterparts in other tribes? Is monogamy even natural? Is it fair to single out Yoruba men who excel at polygamy?

Do share your thoughts below, you know Dami loves to chat.

Until next time.

Celebrities / Yoruba Men Don’t Mind Their Women Cheating – Funmi Iyanda by AnambraDota: 9:14am On Sep 20, 2018
Mobola Sadiq

Nigerian talk show host, Olufunmilola Aduke Iyanda, better known as Funmi Iyanda, made some startling revelation on the latest episode of her Vlog series “Ask Funmi.”

Funmi spoke of the Yoruba culture and its bastardisation.

Highlighting how the social media trend ‘Yoruba demons’ came about and what inspired it, Funmi said, “The original Yoruba culture does not consider sex a sin. It considers sex a natural thing.

“I will challenge anybody to prove that his grandparents and great-grandparents married once and one woman.

“The average Yoruba man wants to be like his grandparents, he doesn’t mind his woman cheating. Yoruba men don’t have a stringent ownership culture towards cheating.

“In the real sense of it, once you sleep with a Yoruba woman, you are her husband. If she has a child for you, you’re her husband, there is actually nothing like a bastard with the Yoruba culture.

“The modern Yoruba man is two-faced because he is finding his way with his identity and not his culture. They are life loving, party going and generally just satisfied with their wife being loyal to them.”

1.Obijackson Children hospital Okjija
2.Dr Maduka's global hospital Umuchukwu.
3.Rise Clinic Adazi-Ani
4.Enugu ultra Modern Diagnostic hospital
5.Dr Benjamin Anyanwu Stroke Hospital Owerri.

7.Ebonyi State teaching Hospital
8.UNTH
9.Unizik TH
10.National Orthopeadic Hospital Enugu.
11.Parklane Enugu
In the final analysis,Dr Maduka's hospital will reverse health tourism migration in Nigeria to Igboland. I am sure, given the clout he displayed so far,he will attract attract international donor agencies, foundations and notable international assistance to equip and uplift that facility.I think i saw the model somewhere and it looked too good to be true but still were realizable within a short time frame.
In sane climes,People like Dr Maduka will be consulted and given a mandate to revive the health sector in Eastern Nigeria.Sad we dont have such forward looking leaders YET!

What about Toronto Onitsha, Iyienu Ogidi, Borromeow Onitsha and COOUTH Awka, St Joseph Hospital Neni

Anioma case is dfifferent, i can claim Anioma people because of the human resources God deposited in that area. That cannot be said of Ikwerres or other Rivers people. Atleast if your claiming Anioma you are looking at UBA, Zenith, Keystone, LBS, PAU, Thisday, Pat Utomi, Jay Jay Okocha , The Iwealas ...Sages like Prof Edozien Asagba of Asaba, Sylvester Monye, Sunny Odogwu, and Nuel Ojei Group.

Please if you are claiming Ikwerres, Ogbas, Ekpeyes what are you claiming ...cultists, thugs, people with neither a business, occupation nor a niche . Tell me why i should claim someone from Rivers State: people that claim to have oil but don't even have common filling stations .

My take is this, if you are an Ikwerre and said you are Igbo; i will be at peace with you. If you said you arent Igbo i will also be at peace with you because head or tail i'm not expecpeting to benefit anything from anybody.

Handsomegod:
Honestly, your rebuttal above was a complete education in itself. I for one never knew those Igboid splinters that much. My proposal was actually for those among them who realized the folly of their forebears and traced their ways back to the general Igbo family. We must as a pragmatic and noble race, accept them back when they do. I mentioned a couple of names earlier and still insist it is a matter of awareness and perspective. A logical look at the entire Igbo denials ravaging these groups will always arrive at unbridled folly and self subjugation. Again, the purpose of my view was not to promote a debate or claim anyone but to express an opinion and encourage those who are back in the fold or those about to take the noble step.
Once upon a time, the likes of Emeka Esogbue and Lurreta Onochie (prompted by fifth columnists as Ena Ofugara,Itse Sagay and Edwin Clark) held sway in Anioma and promoted a very pathological, silly and demonic version of igbophobia and historical revisionism. It took the open declaration of Igboness by the Asagba of Asaba,Omu Anioma and host of other notable figures to turn the tide. I will also mention Diokpa Osita Mordi, who is an enclopedia of Western Igbo history, to counter their lies. His page on Facebook and other pro-Igbo pages on facebook he belonged to are literal Igbo history classes. Today, more Aniomas are pro-Igbo than before. Please note that one of the most reverred historian and foremost authority in Igbo history is Professor Onwuejiogwu. He is an Anioma man. Most contemporary studies on Igbo history has his indelible marks and references. One of the most cerebral contributors here is CJrane and he is from either Ibuzo or Ogwashi.
To give further credence to my veiws on this. The only reason Odili was denied the VP slot with Yar Adua by South South Leaders was his Igbo heritage. At the height of Buhari's exclusion of Igbos in appointments and following the outcry that greeted it,Buhari himself mentioned on national TV that he gave Igbos the most juicy positions in his governement and by this he meant CBN Governor and Minister of Petroluem. Both posts were occupied by Godwin Emefiele(an Ika subgroup) and Ibe Kachikwu (Oshimili). This singular admittance by Buhari displayed the double standards and wickedness of promoting the anti-Igbo story when it suits them to divide the general Igbo body and then admitting the very opposite when it seems convenient. Let us at least discuss and brain storm on these matters even if for the purpose of education and enlightenment.

Nothing but the truth, fact and both.
The achievement of Anambra School system and Agriculture Evolution shadowed the failures of other ministries. People always gloat over Anambra girls winning tech award or Anambra coming first in WAEC and having high cut off mark for Unity school, You will see people talk Anambra Rice, Cucumber, watermelon and many poultry farms that established recently in the State.

Now how are the other ministries faring, nobody can give account of them because they have nothing to showcase to the world. The ministry that would have been so much praised are works, environment and transportation. These are areas that have direct impact on majority of the populace. An average Igbo person just need three things to thrive, security, power and road.

Anambra State Ministry of Environment is not living up to the hype, the roads so dirty, the streets are disgusting, people cross mainroads indiscriminately. They will demolish property but will not beautify the environment, they will leave the debris there and it will amount to another eyesore. The places they are suppose to plant threes they wont but come to express were people will be seeing their eye services to plant two or three tress and post on social media. Many schools in Anmbra State have no trees in their compound, many churches have no trees but the MOE doesnt know these are part of their duty. Pigs are Piglets still roam the streets of Onitsha unchallenged, Ochanja roadside retailers will block half part of the road while motorists, pedestrains and heaps of refuse scramble for other half. The disgusting scene of Niger Street where sand dredgers cover the entire road with sand from the Niger River while their trukcs block half of the road.

The ministry of environment in Anambra State is dead, it does not exist except in the state's payroll. They have failed and need to be overhauled.
I will always say it, this is where Lagos is better, tree planting is like a religion.

mktinsight:

The only working department and agencies in ANSG are ministry of education, agriculture and ABS. The rest are pathetic failures.

For environment, the cities have never been more filthy and chaotic than under Obiano. Unruly markets, dirty gutters, unkempt barrows littering streets, garbage hastily dumped on roads. Again what makes cities livable is A) INFRASTRUCTURE B) TRANSPORT C) PLANNING D) LAW AND ORDER. Onitsha and Awka get a Fail rating in each of these metrics.

The only good thing achieved was banning okada. But no imagination in creating efficient waste disposal, transport systems or infrastructure.

Anambra State government is environmentally handicapped cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin grin grin grin

You see people excavating literite beside erosion prone areas government officials act like its none of their businesses.

You See people dregding sands beside the Niger River and blocking the road with sand dunes, ANSG will not even be bothered about the ugly development.

You See pigs and piglets take siesta at New Market Road, Old Mkt, Moore Street, Okwei, Bida and all adjoining streets in your economic capital, you think making noise about winning election is better.

You visit Nnewi and see human and environmental disaster waiting to happen due to unregulated commercial activities and lack of government oversight, you keep straight face.

Anambra State still allow indiscriminate pasting of posters and defacing of public places, they are yet to force people to share flyers and handbills: maybe Catholics and Anglicans the two sacred cows in Anambra State are behind the giant posters on public places, so government don't want to ruffle their feathers.

You go to Anambra State and see rickety signposts by he roadsides distorting street views, they are mostly rusty and pose threat to public safety. The old NITEL wires are still there like cobwebs in Onitsha grin grin grin grin

To me Enugu State is a sleeping giant, Enugu has the greatest tourism potentials in Southern Nigeria but the government is too blind to tap into it. It's very unfortunate that those rolling hills in Enugu are yet to be connected with cable cars. Enugu have many hills but no hiking clubs, they only do road work to Okpala square and go home.

From 9th Mile to Nsukka is dominated by rush green hills but there are no vacation spots around them, though lack of security in Nigeria could be the cause but locals still leave around those hills.

The golf course in Enugu cant even hold Enugu Masters Challenge and invite other Igbo cities to participate. Nike Lake is not even advertising digitally, you can stumble on any of their advert banners.

Tourism can give Enugu enough money because all the things needed to facilitate it are there, an airport, a lake, hills, malls, universities, educated populace.. but the hotels are not keying into these because blind people in government chose salary over innovative ideas.

ANSMEDIA:
Reconstruction of inner streets of Fegge and Woliwo ongoing.

This is commendable, ANSG should imbibe the culture of covering drainages, apart from the fact that they give the city an ambience that are also safe. Those bankers that died during the flooding wouldn't have died if the gutters were closed.
Onitsha and environs need a mayor that will be overseeing the entire place and report to the governor. The issue of indiscriminate pasting of posters and roadside signposts should be eliminated.

Anambra State environmental commissioner is not serious like the predecessor Nwaebili, the old NITEL wires in Onitsha are still an eyesore, I wonder what they actually do in the ministry and the type of people they recruit into the fold, no innovative ideas, they just go to work sign attendance and get paid every month.

Nwanne God bless you, Pita Obi was clueless but its Obiano's cluelessnes is beyond redemption, i dont know if its because he drinks alot or he is too clannish to consider some projects beneficial to others not his.
Anambra are busy buying every available space at Asaba, every weekend Onitsha business community will relocate to Asaba to unwind thereby enriching the economy of the state. Do you know how much Anambra State have lost to Delta State in terms of tourism and real estate? Obiano is not futuristic like Rochas, Obiano is too petty believe me.

Kindly look at the GoogleMap below and see where paradise is wasting just because some people chose noisemaking over proactive leadership. If Obiano and co were to be futuristic, this Island would have been connected with a bridge and watch how fast it will develop. If ANSG were to construct one bridge to connect this island and build a state polythecnic there, the rate property will appreciate there will not be qunatified, but telling arrogant people what to do is like flogging a dead Horse. Let keep calm until this clueless government is over.

The island is bigger than Awada, the bridge that will open it up is less than 2 kilometers. There are more than 5 River Beaches that can be developed to a robust tourist attraction.
