Another case of medical mismanagement. The reason why we train Doctors is so that they can make diagnosis and then treat. The patients have no responsibility for Doctors incompetence. The family should take legal action.

They are unique in the rate of occurance in progressive societies.

Only three nations on earth still battle with polio - Afghanistan, Pakistan and (northern) Nigeria.

Illiteracy at the rates seen in northern Nigeria are only found in other backwards societies.

Fistula at the rates found in northern Nigeria are only found in other backwards societies that refuse to deal with the issue of child marriage/rape.

Malnutrition is an inexcusable scourge in 2015, a true sign of failure and common in parts of northern Nigeria.
You are still not conversant with epidemiology . You are just a bitter bigot overwhelmed by unwarranted hatred. You can't even use google. See your life huh

Those issues of criminality are a problem in every society.

What is unique is fistula, polio, illiteracy and malnutrition. Those are inexcusable in 2015. Only the most backwards of societies suffer such ailments.
You don't seem to know much about epidemiology. So those 4 issues are unique to north?

Criminality may be a problem everywhere but you guys are leading the world.

It's not where you begin that matters, it is where you end up.

If you are still battling polio in 2015.

Fistula in 2015.

Mass illiteracy in 2015.

Malnutrition in 2015.

Then you are a failed entity.
A primitive base with no real societal value development gives you these ends;

Death sentences in Indonesia for drug offenses

Large population of the community in Chinese jails

South African armed robber gangs

In NDLEA net for drug courier crimes

sex slaves Prostitutes in Italy and Europe ( no morality)

Baby factories at home

Kidnapping as a means of livelihood

419

Fake drugs manufacture , killing to make money

And freelance in any crime at home or abroad.

I don't envy you

Rape is a criminal offence in the south.
Statutory rape is not recognised in the north, a grown man can defile a girl of 10 and then marry her as if there were no crime.
That is the difference.
Your reasoning skills are appalling.
Your imaginary north. You have been brain washed.
When did the southern civilization begin?

The word " statutory " you keep repeating does not exist in your dialect.

And you see nothing wrong with baby factories which are part of the transformation , a flourishing trade in the SE.

This is about statutory rape, not polygamy - two very different issues.
Only the north has a problem with the Child Rights Act. Fistula rates are far higher in the north as a result as are rates of maternal/infant mortality.
The fact is that girls in northern Nigeria are treated like chattel, sold into marriage by their irresponsible parents.
P.S.
You gave list of nations that have an age of consent below the age of 18, that is very different from the marriageable age which is 18 in most nations.
Hypocrite , do you rape those pure water seller girls with consent?

Why do you keep jumping on practices that are widely condemned to use by comparison?

We hear about these baby factories because the police investigate them because people report them in disgust.

These are people readily identified as criminals, no one is defending their practices.

Comparing a judicially sanctioned act with a culturally accepted yet barbaric practice is nonsensical.

Child marriage is sanctioned by the religious authorities in the north and is never condemned by the big political actors in that region.

You keep repeating nonsense as if you have a point to make, the truth is you do not.
Southern hypocrisy, Their fathers and grandfathers have seventeen wives each , but when you talk of polygamy they point to the north.

It is the same with child abuse.

THEA RECENT HISTORY OF YOUR MASTERS
------------------------------------------------
The English common law had traditionally set the age of consent within the range of 10 to 12, but in 1875 the age was raised to 13. After intense sensational media revelations about the scourge of under-age prostitution in London in the 1880s caused respectable middle-class outrage, the age of consent was raised to 16 in 1885. Early feminists of the Social Purity movement such as Josephine Butler and others, instrumental in securing the repeal of the Contagious Diseases Acts, began to turn towards the problem of child prostitution by the end of the 1870s.

The investigative journalist William Thomas Stead of the Pall Mall Gazette was pivotal in exposing the problem of child prostitution in the London underworld through a publicity stunt. In 1885 he "purchased" one victim, Eliza Armstrong the 13-year-old daughter of a chimney sweep, for £5 and took her to a brothel where she was drugged. He then published a series of four exposés entitled The Maiden Tribute of Modern Babylon, which shocked its readers with tales of child prostitution and the abduction, procurement and sale of young English virgins to Continental "pleasure palaces". The "Maiden Tribute" was an instant hit with the public. Victorian society was thrown into an uproar about prostitution. Fearing riots on a national scale, the Home Secretary, Sir William Harcourt pleaded in vain with Stead to cease publication of the articles. A wide variety of reform groups held protest meetings and marched together to Hyde Park demanding that the age of consent be raised. The government was forced to pass the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885 that raised the age of consent to 16 and clamped down on prostitution.[7]

In the United States, as late as the 1880s most States set the minimum age at 10–12, (in Delaware it was 7 in 1895).[8] Inspired by the "Maiden Tribute" female reformers in the US initiated their own campaign[9] which petitioned legislators to raise the legal minimum age to at least 16, with the ultimate goal to raise the age to 18. The campaign was successful, with almost all states raising the minimum age to 16–18 years by 1920.[4][10]

In France, Portugal, Denmark and the Swiss cantons and other countries, the minimum age was raised to between 13 and 16 years in the following decades.[4] Though the original arguments for raising the age of consent were based on morality, since then the raison d'être of the laws has changed to child welfare and a so-called right to childhood or innocence.[11]

In France, under the Napoleonic Code the age of consent was set in 1832 at 11,[12] and was raised to 13 in 1863.[13] It was increased to 15 in 1945.[14]"

Molestation of girls is not legal and no one speaks in defense of such a disgusting practice. Is anyone arguing that child molestation is 'cultural'? It's an unfortunate activity that happens in every nation on the planet, most people are disgusted by it. Can the same be said for child marriage in the north?
At least when it comes to child molestation those people are punished when discovered.
What happens to Yerima when he marries a child and then discards her a year later?
Whether you molest the girls with our marriage or you molest them in a so called marriage , it is still child molestation and must be condemned. It happens in all societies in Nigeria and elsewhere. Many girls in the famous baby factories of the SE are underage.

I'm glad that his wife has come and spoken out against one of a number of barbaric practices that some people elect to cling to but it's interesting that she was speaking to an international audience. Why did she not give that same speech in northern Nigeria where it really needs to be heard?
Good, Aisha wants to fight the molestation of the female child. In the north they go on and marry underage girls while in the south they only molest these underage girls. We have to speak to both practices.

[quoteb author=mmsen post=33848095]Buhari has never come out against these barbaric practices before, why would you think he would do so now? Before the recent elections the only issues that he made noise about were Sharia law and that the Federal government should not use force to deal with Boko Haram.

It's a pity that some people cannot see how destructive some of these 'cultural' habits are.[/quote]Sorry for you. You are still very bitter and in denial mode. We have moved on

That suffix 'anci' signifies speaking as in this Hausa group speaking. You will notice that the 'anci' comes after well known states or locations in hausaland. For instance Kannanci means Kano speaking dialect. Also turawa means Europeans so turanci means European speaking which equates to English language. However this should not be confused with 'iskanci' which was written by AnanseK. Lol I'll leave him to explain that one.
Hausa is a beautiful language and the people i.e the original Hausa people are not more different from the minority tribes surrounding them. The advent of the belligerent Fulanis and the retrogressive religion changed the once peaceful and friendly Hausawas to the present nightmare that they've become.
I agree with you that Hausa people are not different from the tribes surrounding them. In fact they are the same stock and same people. But classifying Fulanis as " belligerent and their religion retrogressive" is your misguided opinion, not entirely your fault if I may add.

Going back to the suffix " anci" is I think grammatical disambiguation present in the Hausa language. Although the words are nouns but more specific than in English usage. In English a Frenchman speaks French and a Yoruba man speaks Yoruba. In Hausa a Frenchman ( bafaranshe) speaks Faransanci and the Yorubaman (Bayorube) speaks yorubanci . You can see the disambiguation in these two examples. In Hausa the language is differentiated from the citizenship or nationality. It is some times applied to behavior or attitude as in Dan Iska ( hooligan ) who displays iskanci ( hooliganism). The two words hooligan and hooliganism are both nouns but you can clearly see the disambiguation in this particular case. I hope this is helpful.
