According to eyewitness accounts, Mr. Obi was driving home from his office on Victoria Island when his vehicle was intercepted by gunmen in a black Toyota Hilux around 8:45 PM near the Chevron roundabout. The suspects, numbering approximately five, forced him out of his car at gunpoint before speeding off toward the Ajah axis.
His driver, who sustained minor injuries during the attack, managed to alert family members and contacted the Lagos State Police Command shortly after the incident.
The family has since received a phone call from an unknown number demanding a ransom of ₦50 million for his safe release. They have urged the kidnappers to exercise restraint and guarantee his safety, as Mr. Obi is said to be managing a heart condition.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, in a statement issued Thursday morning, confirmed that a manhunt has been launched and that operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit have been deployed to the area.
“We are treating this with the utmost urgency. We appeal to the public to provide any useful information that could assist our investigation,” the statement read.
Neighbors and colleagues of Mr. Obi have taken to social media to express shock and demand swift action from authorities.

I lost a very close, childhood friend, 2 years ago. In our school WhatsApp group, it was as if we were dreaming, until some of us attended his burial (myself included), and I came to the group and declared "John (not he real name) is dead and buried". We needed it to move on. The shirt I wore to his burial, I just took it again now, that I want to start wearing it again.

Obi was actually right. The AGF dropped the court case against ADC when Obi left. If Obi hadn't left, APC would've used court cases to scatter ADC.
