Autos / How To Make Sure Your Car Is Safe by AngelicaDivine(f): 6:21am On Sep 17, 2014 |
Getting ready for a road trip Summer is an amazing time to go outside and do fun things. There are books, TV shows, magazines and endless blogs dedicated to getting in shape for the summer and making the most of sunny days. Summer often coincides with school holidays, which makes it an ideal time to travel with your family. While most of us get away by taking a flight to another destination, there are a few adventurers’ who take to the roads to explore nearby destinations and enjoy what the local culture has to offer. With the busy pace of life here in the UAE, we often forget to go beyond our cozy homes in the city to enjoy the beautiful unchartered territories in the Gulf. Apart from making sure your motor insurance is up to date, here a few tips to getting you and your car ready for the road trip of a lifetime: • Take your car for a quick check up and service before your mini vacation. Checking the oil, air-conditioning, coolant, wiper blades, tyres, and wheel alignment will ensure that you do not have to make an unnecessary stop due to a glitch in your car. • Get a thorough wash and polish done. There is definitely some theory attached to the state of your car and the state of your mind being in sync (just kidding – there is no pop psychology quiz to prove this). But if your car is spick and span on the inside and shining bright on the outside, it will definitely ensure a good mood while being on the road. • Get enough music and entertainment on board. Now this one’s obviously not related to safety, but will definitely help in keeping the kids entertained during the journey. So make sure to bring your iPod with your favourite tracks and some games for your kids. • Accessorise your car with essentials like foldable garbage bags, tissue boxes, car bins, hand sanitizers and a car purifier. A road trip means spending quite a bit of time snacking while driving and being prepared for spills and stains will help keep you car tidy during the journey. • Lastly, don’t forget to take your sunglasses, floppy hats and sun screen to protect you from the blazing summer sun. While we’re on the topic, make sure you carry lots of drinking water to keep yourself hydrated at all times. So there you have it, our top tips to ensuring a safe and fun road trip with the family. Wherever you decide to go and whatever you decide to do, we hope you have an amazing trip with your loved ones. Oh, and don’t forget to carry those motor insurance papers with you on your trip http://www.usefinance.com/insurance/auto-insurance/make-sure-car-safe/ |

Business / Managing Money Challenges With Your Spouse by AngelicaDivine(f): 3:38pm On Aug 31, 2014 |
When two persons join forces in a marriage or co-habiting union, one of the important aspects that will determine the success of their relationship is how well they manage money together. While money can’t buy love, it can definitely solidify and secure the foundation of a family bond. In the best-case scenario, spouses should operate as a team when making all their financial decisions. Both parties should pool their income on an equitable basis to ensure that the household needs are met, and they should make plans to accomplish long-term objectives for the future. While you hope that you and your spouse will share the same goals and work together to achieve the best for your family, there are times when the financial union may be rocky. Let’s look at some of the negative money issues that may arise between spouses, and suggest practical strategies to overcome them. Inadequate income contributions In many families, it is necessary for both spouses to work to provide the income required for their shared expenses. With the high cost of living today, there can be considerable financial pressure if one partner is unable to contribute a fair share of money towards the household budget. Income imbalances can arise for several reasons. One spouse could be attending school, working in a low-paying occupation, running an unprofitable business, or unable to find a job at all. Whatever the cause, there could be some amount of resentment if only one party has to bear the burden of the bills. If you are facing this problem, then you and your spouse must work together to find ways to trim your costs and earn extra cash. Use a budget form to itemise all your personal and shared expenses, and work out the sum required each month to meet your family’s needs. Once you know how much your lifestyle really costs, you can calculate the income shortfall figure that is causing financial stress. Next, look at budget items that can be reduced or eliminated, such as the cable service. Also, explore income creation options that can help you to increase your earnings. Lack of trust The subject of money is still very taboo for many people, and this unwillingness to discuss personal finances may also be brought into the relationship. It’s not uncommon for spouses to be clueless about the location and total amount of their partners’ savings accounts or investment portfolios. Some persons will state that they do not trust their spouses with their money, as they believe that they may misuse the funds. However, if the partner with the hidden money falls critically ill or dies, then it may be difficult to access cash to deal with bills or continue the smooth running of the household. If you are not comfortable with disclosing your financial details to your spouse, you still need to leave information with a confidant who can gain access to your funds if you are incapacitated. You could also write down pertinent details in a place that could be easily found if something happens to you. On the other hand, if your spouse refuses to share important financial information with you, explain why it’s necessary for you to be aware of the money situation, especially if there are children involved. Ask your spouse to leave key details somewhere that can be accessed in the event of an emergency. Dishonest financial practices While some cases of money mistrust are probably unfounded, there are instances when spouses have to be wary of their partners’ financial practices. There are many stories of people who were engaged in fraudulent activities while their spouses were completely oblivious to their underhand behaviour. While there may be other reasons for seemingly suspicious financial transactions, you need to be aware of certain red flags. These include high-end purchases that don’t match your spouse’s income, large unexplained sums deposited to your accounts, or stashes of cash in hiding places around the home. If you have concerns about the financial dealings of your spouse, you should seek legal advice to determine your best options. If your fears are realised, you could be held responsible for your partner’s actions or you could lose jointly held property that was legitimately purchased with your own funds. Myriad money problems Other issues which can arise between spouses that may threaten the stability of their finances include irresponsible habits related to debt and spending, lack of planning for future goals such as children’s education or retirement, and the unwillingness to protect the family by acquiring adequate insurance. The way to successfully manage money with your spouse is to have a trusting relationship in which you can both share all your objectives and concerns. Once you are on the same page in other areas, then you will find solutions to any money problems and achieve a harmonious financial life together. http://www.usefinance.com/personal-finance/managing-money-challenges-spouse/ |

Investment / Things You Need To Do To Get Out Of Debt by AngelicaDivine(f): 10:42pm On Aug 23, 2014 |
If you want to be debt-free, then you definitely have to settle all your debt, and the best way that you can use settle all the debt is if you pay it off. If you are faced with debt problems, it is more likely that you do not have extra money left each month if you are on payroll, or you could be having no money at all. The question is how to pay the debt when you are in such a situation. The answer to that is very easy: You will need to get more money. That is easily said than done. In this article, we will discuss the ways that you can use to get additional money to be able to settle your debt. Before we talk about the ideas that will help you get additional money for debt reduction, let us first of all look at some things that you are not supposed to do. You should by all means avoid borrowing money so that you can pay the debt. If you are thinking of getting a consolidation loan (not a good idea), you should first of all ensure that you do away with the mistakes as well as habits that led you into that debt. Otherwise the original debt will just accumulate and in the end you will have a consolidation loan to add on it. You will need to come up with a plan on expenditures to enable you to be in control of your cash. The following are the simplest things that you can do in order to deal with a debt: 1. Increase your income 2. Decrease the expenses 3. Do nothing (not recommended) The following are the ideas that will help you settle your debt: 1. Make a point of using the extra money that you come earn to reduce the debt no matter how little the money can be. If during your graduation, your wedding or your birthday you happen to get a gift in form of cash, you will need to ensure that all that extra money is used to settle the debt. If you were to find some cash laying in the street, do not hesitate to use to reduce the debt. The same applies to the money that you come across unused either in your car or that in your house. The point is, you should use any extra money you get to reduce the debt. 2. In the event that you are given an income tax refund every year, ensure that you use it to reduce the debt. If your debt is small, then the tax refund should be able to clear it completely. For the period that you have the debt, you should not come up with plans on how to utilize the next tax refund. But when the debt is over you can spend it as you please. 3. If you can get overtime hours at work, be sure to go for them. Though that can be really tiring and reduce the time that you will be spending with family and friends, just have in mind that it is temporary. You can do away with the extra hours once you have cleared the debt. Be sure to use all the money you earned during the extra hours to reduce the debt because sometimes there is the temptation to spend the money on other needs. 4. In your house, you might be having some valuable possessions that you do not use. You will need to consider selling such possessions to get more money. If you have unused vehicles, flat screens, sporting equipment and other valuable possessions that you rarely use, then you can obtain a good amount of money by selling them. There will be no point of having such possessions sitting unused around your home while the debt you have is growing. If you are savvy in using computers, you can even start buying things and selling them on eBay. You can make a lot of money by just doing that. 5. You can search for side work that you can to do and earn extra money. Utilize the skills that you have to earn additional money on the side. This could be things like tutoring, painting, landscaping, writing and so on. If you are lacking in professional skills, then things like cleaning houses, babysitting, mowing lawns and so on could be handy. You just need to use your imagination and grab every chance that you can use to make extra money. Even if the money you get is not that much, be sure to use it to reduce the debt. http://www.usefinance.com/debit/debt-management/things-need-get-debt/ 1 Like |

Business / Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone And Into Success by AngelicaDivine(f): 6:35am On Aug 22, 2014 |
The world as we know it today is changing faster than you can read this sentence. New ideas, technologies and demands have changed how we do business. In this world of constant change, one thing remains the same. You must continuously change yourself and your business practices in order to grow. It’s no longer acceptable to just hang your sign and hope they come. You have to stay one step ahead of your customers and your competition. One of the biggest reasons businesses fail to grow is fear. Fear of success and fear of failure. Sounds crazy I know. I was there. I know that fear. Rebranding and launching a new website has been an incredibly exciting experience. But it also brought to surface my own fears. What if no one likes it? What if it doesn’t increase sales? What if… It was definitely a challenge to push those fears aside and launch anyway. But I did… and guess what? Life didn’t end. The world didn’t collapse and even better, the day I launched I booked appointments for two potential new clients! It reminded me that stepping out of my comfort zone is a good thing. Sure taking the risk is always scary, but it feels so good in the long run. So when you’re feeling afraid of doing something new, ask yourself these questions: What are the positive reasons for me to do __________________? If I choose to stay in my comfort zone, what will I miss out on? Finding out what your reasons for staying in your comfort zone will have a huge impact on your ability to really stretch yourself and your business. For me, it felt safer to stay hidden in the shadows than it is to be in the limelight. But it sure is less rewarding. To hit my business goals this year means really stretching myself and getting out of my comfort zone and back into the limelight. Launching my website this week really felt good. I remembered how I actually love doing new things and taking on new challenges. Something you can count on seeing from me on a regular basis. My advice to you… if you’re ready to grow your business, you must get out of your comfort zone. Hire a coach or mentor. Someone who’s really going to push you. I’d have never taken this leap if I didn’t have my mentor behind me pushing me and cheering me on. It made a huge difference. http://www.usefinance.com/business/entrepreneur/step-comfort-zone-success/ |

Business / Dealing With Aggressive Clients In A Project Environment by AngelicaDivine(f): 5:41am On Aug 19, 2014 |
Having regular interactions with the client are a part of the day-to-day business of a Project Manager Professional (PMP). Occasionally, a client’s behavior may fall short of what are considered to be standard norms, be downright aggressive, and the person dealing with the client, in this case the manager has to bear the brunt of that less than cordial attitude. A major part of the challenge that a project manager faces is catering to the very many different kinds of people that he may deal with and yet not being pulled in opposite directions. It can be increasingly frustrating having to deal with someone who is overbearing, unsure yet opinionated, so set in their ways that they are entirely unwilling to negotiate. To tackle situations as such, the manager needs to take control and do something. One thing you can be absolutely sure of is, is if the client is allowed to steamroll, badger and bully you into something and you don’t do anything to put an end to it, it will continue on endlessly. Time for a Change! No matter how difficult, you need to know how to effectively deal with aggressive and assertiveness of the client to prevent the situation from escalating, and getting completely out of hand. Here’s how: Maintain Composure The first rule in facing an unreasonable client and dealing with anyone’s hostile behavior is to keep absolutely calm. The better your control on your emotions and the less reactive you are, the better judgment you can use in handling the situation. Maintain an open and relaxed posture to appear less confrontational, keep your voice down and empathize. Listen Carefully The next step, when you feel that the client may have settled enough to rationally talk, is to listen carefully. Never blame the client outright even if he is responsible for the circumstances. Never dismiss, instead always try to validate the client’s feelings. Do get as much specific information that you possibly can. The client may not be very clear in what the problem is so you have to be careful in understanding what the client means. If you cut of the client in between or point out their wrong-doings, you not only will not be able to get to a rational solution but will also inspire more anger and defensiveness. Diffuse the Situation To appear sympathetic to the client and quickly diffuse the hostility of the situation and prevent it from escalating to a verbal bloodbath, apologize and agree where you can to acknowledge they’re ideas. It will immediately make the client feel like you are considerate and understand their position. Follow this by reassurance. Be precise and clear in what it is that you can do to help the client. Reason and Resolve Although there is no real defense against irrationality, negotiate where you can, with persuasive arguments that cement your standing. Respectfully share your position while offering some flexibility. Use phrases that soften your approach such as ‘the way I see it… ‘, ‘the company’s position on this is… ‘ However, avoid agreeing to something that you cannot deliver, or outside your contractual scope if it has a big impact. Be specific, direct and confident in your ability to communicate. Offer something for the future. Agree on improvements, to accommodate and reach a compromise. Often the best way to deal with aggressive clients in any given circumstance is to be assertive. Deal with aggressive and antagonistic people, stand your ground if the contract is on your side. Say what you have to say and don’t give away promises just to avoid conflict. Pretending a problem isn’t there to evade confrontation will only end in a clients walking all over you with unreasonable demands. http://jobmasternigeria.org/dealing-aggressive-clients-project-environment/ |
