The reality is that the Mediatek which most of you love to hate is here to stay.
It has empowered many people and while most of you won't agree, they are getting better at what they do even though they remain a fabless company.

They complain of overheating....
I don't experience that on W4.
They say Mediatek uses a third party supplier (mali) for its graphics needs...the screen resolution of this my Tecno W4 is a beauty to behold for 23 thousand naira.

Now the truth of the matter is that Snapdragon chipsets remains light years ahead the likes of Intel Atom and Mediatek.

But that notwithstanding, Mediatek is making giant strides too. Lots of Nigerians who would never have experienced what marshmallow or an HD IPS touchscreen is can now do so for 23k.
It's something worth celebrating.

If I don't use this phone...
I would never, ever be this bold about it. If the phone does not serve me well, my conscience will not allow me speak in it's favour.

Have I noticed some flaws?
Yes.
Number 1 is my VLC player.
My LG G3 vigor can run subtitles on VLC, but not my Tecno W4. This is a major ish for me, because I dig movies a lot.

But then, I'm not bothered because, after all is said and done, the phone still gives me more value for less.

Btw, sorry about my belligerent disposition earlier. I'm just fed up of people who hate on this device when they've not even seen its pouch, talkleSs of the phone, inugo?

What do you mean by foreign news ? Tecno is a brand sold in Africa .So news from Ghana , kenya is not foreign

2 different 4000Mah (full capacity) batteries might not have the same weight, but they should be close

I hate when people just bash tecno because of its brand name. You'v done a good job dear! I usually tell people bring a 23,000 samsung and a 23,000 tecno/infinix/gionee let's compare it side by side....when it comes to those affordable phones, most samsung phones are wacked in specs! Its only when you get to their high end phones you'll be amazed....recently, a company xiaomi has been producing bad-a.s.s phones with wowing specs that wuld make samsung shiver at their prices.
Well that's the Power of a Brand name, the name samsung or apple stinks of class that people don't bother to check if they are getting value for their money. These top companies are ripping people of their money but people are too blind to see it, that once a phone stands side by side with their prducts, its quickly termed rubbish. #Kudos to samsung & apple marketing team tho!

I won't buy the tecno boom j8 or advice anyone to buy it.... So far, I have suggested Gionee m5 to 4 persons who have nothing but praises for the phone.
Am buying gionee m5 plus when it starts selling in Nigeria in two weeks time if it's specs matches it's performance.

I love mtk devices, that is why I walk around these threads.
And my point has been made, whoever wishes to go ahead with boom j8 or gionee m5 is free to do so, afterall it's of no consequence to me, seeing me or anyone close to me won't be getting tecno boom j8 ever.

Just for informative purpose only, no tecno device has been upgraded from a previous android version to a higher one, not even phantom 5..... Expect marshmallow 6.0.1 for gionee m5 soon.

Wow, I am amazed that in this time and age, most people don't know that some Tecno devices are already rocking cyanogenmod.

To buttress my point, I am using cyanogen 13 on my Tecno H6. Yes, you read right, Tecno H6.
This was a phone built in 2014 and rocking cyanogen. I ported it myself almost three weeks ago.

There are developers constantly building varieties of rom for my kind of device running mt6582 chipset.
And I must say, cyanogen is sweeeeet!!!

It's because you are a heavy user i guess but this battery at 2500mAh is very good. You can't expect it to perform like 5000mAh

Let me start by saying I didn't set out to buy android phone in the first place. I actually had it in mind to buy the Microsoft Lumia 520. So when I got to Slot, I saw the Tecno W4, it is good looking and portable my plan changed. I didn't like android due to the fact that they consume lots of data. This is my first android device after blackberry and Nokia. But after 3 days with the Tecno W4 I have found out six things I really appreciate on the phone

Good design

The phone is well crafted with a plastic material looking really good .There is a Touch of metal around the edges to make really eye-catching.

Battery is good

The battery on the Tecno W4 is 2500mAh but from my experience so far, the battery is amazing . I can't believe this phone battery is way better than Lumia phones i have used. It last me throughout the day

Sound output is great
I wasn’t expecting the sound of this device to be good but it does a very good job when you considered the price it’s been sold. It's like Tecno phones have better audio quality than most Chinese brand in the country, because i have hearing people complaining about the sound aspect especially when compare with blackberry devices. I may be able to judge after using series of them because android is winning me over


Portable and Light
I hate heavy phones, the Tecno w4 is a perfect one for me because it is light and can easy be operated with one hand. It fits perfectly into my hands.

Notification light
This one is really what i love the most among the features, it reminds me of my old blackberry phone . The Light turns red during charging and green for Notification on the Tecno W4, it's cool honestly.


The themes are lovely to behold
The themes on this phones are just wowing, they are really lovely to play around with. You can also change fonts on the Tecno W4 which is very cool.
Finally I will rate this phone an 8/10, it’s affordable, smooth, and portable with android 6.0 marshmallow on the hood.so this my non-techy review just what i think is really cool on the device.
